    It's been about 6 months since now that I have started using puzzle feeders and all of my cats have either lost weight (For Rosie and Ash, they have lost about 2-3 pounds each) or maintaining a good weight. They rarely ever vomit after eating (from eating too fast) and the cats are so much more active. It's super surprising how much of an effect it had. Try it yourself and let me know if there are any changes to their weight/behaviors.

    Brilliant advice thank you. The stray cat I've been taking care of has gained so much weight!!! After I had her spayed she is not very active at all and is literally ballooning

    This video is excellent✨ in making it very clear how this kind of feeder can work and clearly why it would be of benefit to the cats in a number of ways.✨ Until seeing your presentation I'd never seen puzzle feeders as more than a questionable novelty for a cat, as an extra thing they may dabble with while an owner is away at work.Plus the other feeders were too small and based on the same action😼 to bash the food out eventually.Your feeder is ideal.👍😺

    I don't do cats-I'm a Siberian Husky snob. But this video and your other videos is fascinating. Good work.

    Great video! Do you also have tips on how to use puzzle feeders for wet food?

      I doubt you need them if feeding high quality wet.
      You can play before meal time so they can work for their food.
      And maybe use high quality low calorie treats with puzzle toys for mental stimulation.

      It might be more difficult to use puzzle feeders with wet food since if the cats are pawing out the wet food it might track all over your place! Not to mention you'd have to clean the puzzle feeder every time you use wet food. So the mess might not be worth it. However, wet food is usually more filling than dry ones so people that feed exclusively wet food, don't need to use puzzle feeders.
      A good way to help weight loss is to use a smaller portion of wet food and mix it with more water (so 1. It is filling but less in calories and 2. Increased hydration)!

    Thanks for this video! Do you exclusively feed your cats dry food or do you also feed them wet food daily?

      For myself, I feed dry food on the weekdays and wet/raw food on weekends for variety. Thanks for your message!

    This only works with dry foods. Any advice when you feed wet food? :)

    What feeder are you using in the video? I'm looking to get a few puzzle toys to put treats/freeze dried kibble in to help keep my senior cat's brain active and that looks like a really fun and interesting one, but I can't find it anywhere.

      Wait- that's my bad. I swear I turned your site over last night looking for the thing and didn't find it. Guess that's what I get for looking at 3 am 😅

    i know i keep hear you and jackson galaxy about hunt catch kill, play then feed it sound about right. but I think maybe I messed up the order with my kitten by feed him then play...sometime trying to play with him he isn't so engaged. and then he have this other time where I feel like his meowing for food before the set time so I have no idea how to stick to a routine everyone say cat love routine, but how do you do that when cat meow early or others in the house feed him odd times

      Cats aren’t always meowing for food. Sometimes they meow out of boredom or if they want attention. When my cat meows before mealtime usually he is bored, so I will start play time with him. If i think he needs more mental stimulation or if it’s way before mealtime I will clicker train with a tiny amount of snacks instead. This will usually hold him off until meal time. Puzzle toys like this are amazing because meal time takes much much longer and cats will stop once they are full. By the time they are done they are full and stimulated so they will be less likely to bother you because they’re bored or hungry.

    How do you make sure each gets gets the same amount if you feed them together at once?

    • @monsieurtn
      @monsieurtn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! As you feed them you figure out the portions that you need. When all cats are full, they leave the puzzle basically. You just have to make sure to give them enough food in the puzzle so that there's still maybe 5-10% left after all the cats get their fill. The cats will return to finish off the last 5-10% of the food throughout the day before their next scheduled meal! Thanks for your comment!

    Is it possible to use puzzle feeders with wet food? We adopted our cat this spring and he's becoming a chunky guy! 😅 He will inhale his food if we don't give it to him little by little, so this would be great!

    • @monsieurtn
      @monsieurtn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible, just a bit more annoying because you'll have to clean the puzzle feeder each time you feed! So maybe a smaller, simpler, puzzle feeder would be better for wet foods!
