I think refurbishing an old original sword making it not looking rugged & aged, goes against the reason to collect antiques. If it's just for polishing & sharpening, then its ok. Love the content by the way. Being part of history is way too awesome.
I was thinking about this too. Most antique Katanas I see have their old fittings. You never see part "was replaced". Sure the blade is original but what did they do with the old parts? I want those when I buy the sword.

That's a very appropriate price though for an authentic 1600's, repaired to mint, and it's got the paperwork to back lineage. Easily could've sold for 40-45.
Granted, a good quality sword could run you as low as 4-10, the price of this one is pretty good in the scene.
