The most interesting part of this, is where the Scottish couple said that the English authorities managed to gain control of the situation quickly, potentially meaning that, England at least, may be mostly running as a society, wonder if they'll explore this more
Well, going through the chunnel they'll be in England and I imagine that's not a bit of story they can gloss over before their eventual return to the states, so I think you may get your wish. I imagine season 3 is going to be a new adventure in England for the 2. Maybe going to be 2 seasons of that again like in France, all before they finally have the daryl rick reunion season, because if they don't have that reunion they will have completely let down the fans, it's all we want, to see the illegitimate brothers reunited in a brotherly and loving embrace. I do love the story bring taken to another place on earth
I certainly hope so, yet if the Walking Dead franchise has demonstrated one if, is the writers, especially Gimple, shy away from pre-fall and trials organisations, institutions and nation-states surviving and functioning, let alone prospering.
These TWD spin-offs all have been good in some spots but anticlimactic in many ways. They should definitely move from 6 to 8 or 10 episodes in the future.
i dont think the problem is the number of episodes but the incredible plot armor and sometimes anticlimatic things we get like majorbill dying or nor rick or michonne dying in the one who live, both of them surviving a mass explotion and nothing happens to them or in this season of daryl the enemies shooting like storm troopers, but still i keep loving the walking dead
Yeah I was almost angry realizing this was the finale. Like wtf do you mean 6 episode seasons are pitiful enough now I have to wait 3 years or however long to find out if codron is alive? As I watched season 2 only for daryl I'll be watching season 3 only for that if I'm not old and grey by then.
You summed it up well and really the issue with this season was the writing. Like the standard in the first season seems way higher and not just casually killing people off to make room for other characters. Like you, I liked bits of it but some bad decisions were made (killing Isabelle, god I will never forgive them for that). It could be that they were trying to rush too many storylines into six episodes but it was just a bit... off. I like Carol too but I think trying to include her in this spinoff was maybe a mistake. It took too much attention away from the characters who we'd grown to love and hate during the first season. Thanks again James!
It was pretty good.. i liked season 2 more than 1 but I didn't have crazy high expectations like most.. everyone wants it there way & wants the show to be better than Original OG walking dead episodes or something.. it will never be that.. but it's a pretty decent show & I'll watch it regardless
This is the comment I agree with most. It's exactly how I feel. It's a pretty good show. A solid event series. I enjoyed watching it every Sunday and I look forward to season 3. It's not perfect but there was way more good than bad this year.
It was a cool episode but as a finale it was just ok. This season definitely had some good moments but I felt it was a let down. I just didn't like them writing off so many characters so abruptly and just totally disregarding the story they established in season 1 with Genet and the experiments. It was wrapped up so quick and anticlimactic
Exactly. I thought we were going to get some actual answers regarding the virus origins... But it is looking like they are just trying to make this a neverending soap opera
Song... You can't always get what you want. Meaning we can't always get what we want. Season 3 will be great. This was done very well I absolutely loved it❤
I have grown to love Laurent, I'm looking forward to seeing how his story line goes forward, and I loved the tunnel sequence where everyone was high as balls

I truly enjoyed this season, I loved seeing how everything turned out. I never got super attached to any of the France crew because we always knew from the very beginning that it was a TEMPORARY LOCATION WITH TEMPORARY PEOPLE. I always suspected that only Isabell or Laurent would survive. The question was who would it be. I think most people forgot to just watch the show for what was instead they put their own predictions of what they wanted onto show and that ruined the show for them.
Writing is defintely the problem this season. I didn't think it was awful but I didn't feel the connection with characters that I have felt in 1st season & Original Show. I have alot of same feeling I had with disappointment with Ones Who live. I really got worn out over all people that supposely had to die and Carol's Trama. Carol's Trama i haven't had that problem in original show but here it really bugged me. I was like really this again. I don't know what was different but it really got on my nerves. I really think they should of kept Isabelle & had here go with Laurant in plane. I would of really been more happy with that then what they did. 1st Scene of this episode with Daryl & Laurant really touched my heart. I got kick out of Codron & Fallou going back & forth about his girlfriend. It would of been nice if they had introduced her sooner then just adding her at last min for a purpose. Carol on plane. I was like What?? She wouldn't leave Daryl after she spent all the time looking for him. I wish she would just agreed to stay then doing that unbelieveable feat of getting off plane. I didn't notice the guy on motorcycle shooting at plane but you're right they could be in trouble. I hope they do make it because I like both of their characters. I don't know what to say about tunnel. Most of that just made me crazy. I hope since Codron just ran away which he loves to do and hopefully he will show back up. I was really staring to like Codron eventhough I still don't believe in his transfurmation. I really enjoy seeing these two back together so I hope the writing is better next season!!!!! Teaser for Season 3 looked really interesting so hopefully it will truly be better than this season.
I always love watching your videos James and hearing your insight on the episodes. I completely agree with you about the writing. I’m very sad over Isabelle as well she would’ve been a beautiful addition to the core characters we have grown to love. Regardless I still love the actors and the series and spin-offs and I’m hoping in the future things will look up for these characters. Daryl’s really been put through a lot emotionally in these 2 seasons
I thought the first half of the episode was amazing, especially the plane take-off scene. I was actually on the edge of my seat and Daryl sniping those guys out was just badass man. I think it started to lose some steam in the 2nd half of the episode in the tunnels, I'm just not a big fan of these kind of hallucination scenes. Codron is one of my favorite new characters and having him waste all the redemption arc they've given him was really lame in my opinion. Still a pretty good finale but we still never got any connection to the World Beyond post credit scene lol.
I didn't see it in the tunnels as Codron "wasting his redemption arc". He wasn't in his right mind. He didn't know what he was doing. He wasn't responsible.
The walking dead franchise was built off of an ensemble cast where anyone could die at any time. Now with only having a couple of truly important characters the element of suspense just isn't there.
Thanks for your videos - totally share your concerns about the writing. The Chunnel scene felt like real TWD, and they have a blank slate for S3. But to me it's clear that this show is a huge case of imposter syndrome with David Zabel and the French crew deserving an A for Effort, nice try, but they don't really understand TWD much less know how to craft an episode or series. For this to get better, real TWD creators would have to take much more of a leadership role and stop outsourcing. I think McBride being there now is helping.
AMC & TWD writers have become so disconnected…. I feel like I could do a better job. This is a long way away from the original TWD comic by Kirkman…. It’s not the same story anymore…it feels more like a CW show these days 🤢 🤮
Great until that crazy ending. I wish Daryl, Carol and Codron just could of went to England in a normal way and they ended it the episode normally after the whole Laurent and Ash going home part. They could've found another time for the end or scrapped it entirely. I am excited to see what comes next though, it wasn't show ruining, and I liked this season a lot overall. Season 3 could go anywhere and it sounds a season 4 is also in the works as well and they will both be 6 episodes. I wonder what will come of that weird Rick rumor too, and Dead City.
someone forgot to tell AMC they were making a series and not a motion picture. This episode will be 2 1/2 hours long. I have a working VRC and I will record it that way to watch it without the commercials.
i predict when TWD Daryl Dixon ends on the final episode when the last ever season is and both Carol and Daryl look as if they are just about to be killed then Rick/ Michonne and Judith turn up to save the day then that will be the next walking dead series
Feels like they rushed this show. I’m not really a fan of Carol but the show was definitely better without her. It’s like finally Melissa McBride is gonna come so we gotta make room and get rid of everything so we can take them to new places
I think your summary of Ep. 6 and the season was certainly fair. I'll rewatch again at some point, but Season 1 was much more interesting. One question: How does Ash even know where Commonwealth is? I suppose it was discussed off camera. The whole build up to the super walkers was a huge dud in my opinion. The character deaths were just one after another, almost like they were rushing this story just so Daryl can get to Spain next season. Im missing the old show more and more.
Good point about Ash not knowing where the CW is. Also he's very weak with killing walkers so I doubt they'd even make it without Daryl or Carol. If I were him I'd just go back to his old property, fix it up and adopt Laurent. They seem to hit it off together.
In Episode 6 of Daryl Dixon season 2 My favorite is the Sophia Scene Sandra Brunelle did a great Job and Madison Lintz in the Walking Dead TV Show amazing Actress both did great the Walking Dead Universe is amazing
Hey James..not sure how I feel about the finale. Some of the stuff that happened was batshit crazy!😂 Anyway, seriously Carol just jumped out of the plane and saved the day? She's a superhero I guess! The hallucinating in the tunnel was a bit much...just weird. Anyway it's over for now and let's see what happens in Season 3! Thx for all the awesome videos! 👍
Yeah it seems they are wanting to 'overlook' more and more and more - it gets frustrating when they have so much potential to do it better - Thanks as always!!!!!!!!!!!!
RE: THE WRITING. I’m an Award Winning Screenwriter, filmmaker and Communications Professor in New York City and I feel that GIMPLE and the others in charge have just been milking the existing idea for monetary purposes. This is an INTERNATIONAL 🌎🌍🌏 franchise and action translates internationally unlike any other. Every country has their own forms of drama and comedy 🎭 that may not translate into another country. Action is pretty universal. Damn the “story”. LOL. My feelings on their thoughts, not mine. LOL. I of course know HOW IMPORTANT THE STORY is in media (TV/film) and to ignore that or not take it seriously is pure exploitation of the fanbase for money.
EW reported this about the last ten minutes of episode: "a psychedelic effect brought on by a high concentration of bat excrement started to cause them to have visions." So bat poop caused the hallucinations. 🙄 More great script writing--not. Definitely the writing ruined the season.
I enjoyed the atmosphere and flavour of season one and I think they lost that a bit in season 2. I thought it was a bit all over the place in terms of writing, but, on the whole, I enjoyed the second season. I preferred season one, though. It's nice to spend time with TWD family even when it's not what it was.
Dont think Rick will appear, not gor a long time... If they get to Commonwealth they will tell them Daryl & Carol will be heading to England, then home...
Really good review video James, you made a lot of very valid and interesting points. I had numerous issues with season 2 but I think you mentioned many of them. I have problems with the writing, pace and style overall as I think it needs to bit a bit more edgy and not so all over the place in terms of on screen locations. I think they need to keep more regular characters moving forward and slow down the number of copped out deaths which have become quite anaesthetised imo. Thanks James 👍 ❤
They got the deaths wrong in season 2, shouldn't have killed off Daryl love interest this soon. I was shocked Rick didnt appear as an end credit scene.
We've been teased too many times about walkers origins, cures, immunity etc and we get nothing. What was the point of the world beyond post credit scene,
This show wasn't great, Carol was the villain in this season right? She manipulated a guy to leave everything, get r*ped, almost die, and dont forget this is 13 years after the apocalypse. The plane is fine, no rust or anything. Carol also murdered a bunch of people for no reason. Also everyone in Paris still speaks english 13 years later.😂
James did you spot anything associated with Gimples comments? He mentioned there was some sort of reference to the mythology of the TWD universe in one of the episodes and within the first 14 minutes of that episode. I didn’t see anything.. unless the Bio Walkers were a direct reference to the Bio Lab in post credit scene of the World Beyond.
@ I’m going to go out on a whim here after a brain wave. Much like the belief relating to Covid and how it emerged e.g some theories had it spread by animals in particular Bats, and with the reference to the bats in the tunnel I’m going to go with the scientists were experimenting with the virus on animals e.g bats and that’s how it got to humans.
Man i might be done with TWD after this. A 6 episode season is pitiful. And this tunnel scene was so over the top and anticlamatic for a season finale. Suddenly everyone becomes too weak minded to realize theyre hallucinating? It was only believable with carol. And codron just soloing daryl with ease is hilarious. Best part of this season other than daryl himself.
at this point I’d even be happy seeing a scene play out in s3 when Daryl and Carol are in England or in Spain and are able to make a radio call over so they can speak to Laurent and Ash making sure they arrived okay and could be surprised by speaking to Rick. As much as I want them all reunited I’d still be happy with a conversation over the radio. Judith too because of course she misses her Uncle Daryl and that would be nice to hear.
Do you think we will ever get an answer to the variant walkers and how it all relates to Dr. Jenner? I feel the same way about Season 2 as you do. Very disheartened. The end of this episode actually almost made me turn it off. Maybe I missed something storywise in my frustration, but did they really imply everyone was hallucinating due to guano? Bat poo is unhealthy to breathe in but it does not make one hallucinate.
true about bat guano, not sure how the writers came up with that. I sure do hope we get more info - Jenner may not be any more part of it - but the French scientists might & the different teams that went out.
@@TWDExplained Yeah, I agree. I just thought if we were in France that maybe, just maybe, they would have touched more on that scene from the end of World Beyond. Maybe it was just to imply that we got variant walkers like we did in Daryl Dixon and not to give us anything more about the outbreak.
I will never stop watching the TWD universe but this was pants! We had built up a relationship with Isabelle and there was more suspense with her and Daryl and Laurent as a new family and we hadn’t seen Daryl this way before. Now Carol’s back, no suspense, and I never got why they were special friends in the first place. Plus no one can explain why 2 Scottish people (and the stupid writing about how the English are shite and their food is terrible is so old and such lazy writing) walked 9 miles through a tunnel, made friends with Fallou, then decided to walk back for 9 hours only to turn on the others over masks? Why were they in France in the first place? Very frustrating. Daryl story should have continued with Isabelle, romantically or not. They had more in common than the whinging Carol who kept messing up everyone’s lives.
thank you for talking about me in your videos isabelle is not dead she will be present alongside daryl until the defeat of the mysterious villain in a spiritual form and I have not yet said but codron is the archangel gabriel and falou is the archangel raphael thank you for informing me about the feast of three Daryl is indeed the hero of the prophecy and the prophecy has been taking place under your eyes since the beginning and I will try James to explain it to you the real and final battle has begun isabelle and her red veil announces the arrival of the virgin of the apocalypse and the beginning of the war of the angels
Have watched all season before commenting anything… season 2 feels like a let down. But that’s because I set the expectation and desire in my mind that they would get back home. Where does their timeline fall with TOWL?
@ I keep seeing and hearing rumors of a Rick return being announced this month. I think some of your own stuff too has said rumors. Have to wonder how that may play into S3, if at all. Surely they don’t keep them apart.
I watched the entire second season and I definitely won't watch the third season. I only watched it for the experiments France was doing on walkers, and to confirm that it all started with the French. - I didn't learn anything about Team Violet or Primrose - La Biomédicine DDMI wasn't shown or even mentioned - It was not shown what they did with the scientists they caught and put in prison - Why the French created the virus and why it got out of control And I think the most ridiculous thing is why did they actually create a combat version of the virus?! After all, creating it was much more difficult than removing it from the bodies of living people! These morons could have created a solution to this pandemic and ended it forever, but they preferred to create a combat version instead, and you, the writers, want to convince me that these are intelligent people just like us?!! I'm done with this, I'm just disappointed. Damn writers, Kirkman probably also came in and started talking his stupid arguments like "let's not show how it was created because it was never the goal blah blah blah".. So why the hell did you start if now you don't want to do anything about it?!
good points - many fans feel the same way. You're list of things should have been the major theme of S1 and 2. Carol could have still shown up. Not sure they could figure out a cure - many tried. Genet just wanted a super zombie army. Kirkman probably is not around anymore as in contributing to writing anything. But I hear ya, we fans are all kinda miffed for sure. I am uploading a video tonight that includes a rant about it...if anything, check it out! The video will be about Daryl Dixon S3 promo. Rant is at the end. Thanks for watching!
@@TWDExplained I'll definitely watch it, just like most of your TWD episodes. What Genet was driving at is also pretty funny "Walkers killed my husband, so now I want scientists to create super walkers for me here to do even worse things" Instead of, fuck, I don't know...trying to cure it in healthy people so that it never happens again and to finally build a real society without the threat of dead bodies? It's true that many people have tried to cure the wildfire virus, but according to the series, it was the French who were supposed to create it, so they probably know the most about it and would have the greatest chance for a positive result. In addition, Stéphane Codron, instead of sparing the main scientist in the catacombs (because he was the smartest man and someone who could conduct further research on corpses but under supervision), shot him in the head... A soldier, but no logic.. Well, thank you for reading my outpouring of grief in the comment and I'm waiting for the next episodes XD
@TWDExplained well I've been watching from but it's starting to wear on me I like that you started doing videos about that show..Tulsa king but I'm starting to not like it especially the way the second season is going...the penguin show I'm trying to finish it too..the boys but it's got one more season..but they are milking it because of gen v which is good and the new prequel show vought rising..I watch UFC but it's getting old too.. some fights look like two dudes fighting over Twinkies...
@TWDExplained penguin is pretty good considering I'm not a huge fan of mafia movies or shows...I'm from the south and I just don't buy into it..I mean look at the sopranos only thing they have to do is kill tony a over weight slob..not that hard..but the show the penguin as a dude that is unrecognizable playing a character that is from the streets trying to make a name for himself...I mean the batman movie was decent but I'm out a big fan of Robert Pattinson or Andy or matt reeves monkey movies which I only watched the first one and was done..but the penguin show is good if you want to see the continue story from penguins point of view..
@@johnsanders3857 Have you gotten to the 4th episode of Penguin? All I can say is Wow! What an intense episode! This is one of best backstory episode I have watched in along time. It really made me feel for this character & know exactly where the character is coming from.
Can’t tell if it’s intentional or just ironic that she can’t remember Sophia’s face, and when she finally does see her she’s played by a new actress who literally has a different face from the original Sophia
There was a lot of rehashing. Carol seeing Sophia is not different than Morgan cray cray and Duane. Gas masks in the tunnel taken from Dead City. And of course they had to have a woke message tossed in as well.
@@mikealan1984 no - in Dead City it was Methane they were breathing - in the DD finale it was bat poop that has hallucinogenic properties they were breathing in

someone forgot to tell AMC they were making a series and not a motion picture.
Wait a minute....is that where the expression bat-sh*t crazy comes from?? The guano? lol
you'd think so - but it's more from the tendency of bats to fly around erratically
I thought that too... but turns out guano does not actually cause hallucinations or any such symptoms so they just made that up
Feels like they rushed this show. I’m not really a fan of Carol but the show was definitely better without her. It’s like finally Melissa McBride is gonna come so we gotta make room and get rid of everything so we can take them to new places
I hate hallucinations in twd! Grandpa Dixon was cool tho
Yeah it seems they are wanting to 'overlook' more and more and more - it gets frustrating when they have so much potential to do it better - Thanks as always!!!!!!!!!!!!
too much plotholes and the plot is sometimes weak for me but god i love this show so much
I friggin loved it but I so hope Darrell don't become a couple
It will destroy it for me
RE: THE WRITING.
LOL.
I of course know HOW IMPORTANT THE STORY is in media (TV/film) and to ignore that or not take it seriously is pure exploitation of the fanbase for money.
good points
EW reported this about the last ten minutes of episode: "a psychedelic effect brought on by a high concentration of bat excrement started to cause them to have visions." So bat poop caused the hallucinations. 🙄 More great script writing--not. Definitely the writing ruined the season.
kinda a copy of Dead City methane thing also
@@TWDExplained Yup.
It felt really unnatural how Daryl kind of brushed off Isabella’s death like she was just some acquaintance.
Maybe Ash,an larunt runs into Negon, Maggie, Morgan, before they make it to CW.😅😢
They got the deaths wrong in season 2, shouldn't have killed off Daryl love interest this soon. I was shocked Rick didnt appear as an end credit scene.
We've been teased too many times about walkers origins, cures, immunity etc and we get nothing. What was the point of the world beyond post credit scene,
Agree. This season was merp. 🧟♀️
I liked this season. It just could have been “smoother” if you know what I mean
yep
This show wasn't great, Carol was the villain in this season right? She manipulated a guy to leave everything, get r*ped, almost die, and dont forget this is 13 years after the apocalypse. The plane is fine, no rust or anything. Carol also murdered a bunch of people for no reason. Also everyone in Paris still speaks english 13 years later.😂
I enjoyed the season, I wish Isabelle and the lady from DemiMond had made it.... Codron will be back to haunt them after losing his mind...
Bro look at it now we’re become the walkers he never seeing
Rick again
With the line about the government I hope that the original government is in control and how they lockdown the breakout
I did not - just Sophia
@ I’m going to go out on a whim here after a brain wave. Much like the belief relating to Covid and how it emerged e.g some theories had it spread by animals in particular Bats, and with the reference to the bats in the tunnel I’m going to go with the scientists were experimenting with the virus on animals e.g bats and that’s how it got to humans.
Not sure why they didn't share the masks ???😮
I still can't make it thru season one which I have on DvD ...I just can't get interested. It's like BB King said...the thrill is gone !
Well I hate to say it, but even if you did finish season 1 it all gets thrown to the fire in season 2 lol
Agree. There were extra masks next to a few bodies. Not to mention fresh air was available back about 100 feet.
thank you for talking about me in your videos isabelle is not dead she will be present alongside daryl until the defeat of the mysterious villain in a spiritual form and I have not yet said but codron is the archangel gabriel and falou is the archangel raphael thank you for informing me about the feast of three
Daryl is indeed the hero of the prophecy and the prophecy has been taking place under your eyes since the beginning and I will try James to explain it to you
the real and final battle has begun isabelle and her red veil announces the arrival of the virgin of the apocalypse and the beginning of the war of the angels
looking forward to working with you on this
Isabelle again! 😡
Spain?! I totally missed that, when did they go to Spain?!
Idk, I thought they were going to England😭😭
Season 3 was announced waaaaaaay back and they started filming - in Spain. It's all over the news feeds so not a spoiler.
@@TWDExplained are they going to England, or was that just false news :0
@@TylerSavage13 Yes, it does seem they will for how long I do not know
They filmed 3 in Spain, but the 3rd season setting is in England.
Edit
I just saw the promo....that is Spain.....damn, a long detour😮.
I give this season a 6 outta 10 a low low 6
the whole Carol thing is such a mess....why did they bring her back.........
What a crappy ending to this season. You gotta be kidding me. What a waste of my time.
Solid season! Loved it! Cant wait for seaosn 3. There was a season 3 teaser released a short time ago that showed a boat
Yep - I will have a review of the trailer out sometime Monday - Thanks for watching!
Amazing😢
Have watched all season before commenting anything… season 2 feels like a let down. But that’s because I set the expectation and desire in my mind that they would get back home.
Where does their timeline fall with TOWL?
as far as I can tell, Carol left just before Rick returned
@ I keep seeing and hearing rumors of a Rick return being announced this month. I think some of your own stuff too has said rumors. Have to wonder how that may play into S3, if at all. Surely they don’t keep them apart.
I do hope Rick is somehow a part of any announcement they may make
I watched the entire second season and I definitely won't watch the third season.
I only watched it for the experiments France was doing on walkers, and to confirm that it all started with the French.
- I didn't learn anything about Team Violet or Primrose
- La Biomédicine DDMI wasn't shown or even mentioned
- It was not shown what they did with the scientists they caught and put in prison
- Why the French created the virus and why it got out of control
And I think the most ridiculous thing is why did they actually create a combat version of the virus?!
What Genet was driving at is also pretty funny
"Walkers killed my husband, so now I want scientists to create super walkers for me here to do even worse things"
Instead of, fuck, I don't know...trying to cure it in healthy people so that it never happens again and to finally build a real society without the threat of dead bodies?
It's true that many people have tried to cure the wildfire virus, but according to the series, it was the French who were supposed to create it, so they probably know the most about it and would have the greatest chance for a positive result.
In addition, Stéphane Codron, instead of sparing the main scientist in the catacombs (because he was the smartest man and someone who could conduct further research on corpses but under supervision), shot him in the head...
A soldier, but no logic..
Well, thank you for reading my outpouring of grief in the comment and I'm waiting for the next episodes XD
Plot armor is strong with these two...lol i stop watching the walking dead a long time ago and just started watching you're channel
Thanks for watching!
What other shows are you into?
@TWDExplained well I've been watching from but it's starting to wear on me I like that you started doing videos about that show..Tulsa king but I'm starting to not like it especially the way the second season is going...the penguin show I'm trying to finish it too..the boys but it's got one more season..but they are milking it because of gen v which is good and the new prequel show vought rising..I watch UFC but it's getting old too.. some fights look like two dudes fighting over Twinkies...
lol - I hear ya - I watch The Boys and Tulsa King also - have not watched Penguin.
Who tf hires writers at amc...
What was the woke message?

🤮 this season sucked I hated it's more like Fear than TWD...
I agree, they establish this whole story in season 1 and just write it all off without any climax at all
@@Father_Daniel
Right
Aren’t the walkers in this episode the same ones that were in dead city they were like radioactive walkers
similar in ways - but the DD finale stuff was bioluminescent growing
@ well are the walkers similar tho
@@mikealan1984 no - in Dead City it was Methane they were breathing - in the DD finale it was bat poop that has hallucinogenic properties they were breathing in
@ oh ok thank you for explaining that I knew it was something similar thanks friend
