To any one about to do a spark job on a Honda engine I saw an awesome tip on another video. Use two three inch extenders on your ratchet instead of the one 6inch one. Makes it easier to maneuver it into those tight spots
Just replaced all the spark plugs on my 2014 Honda Pilot. A little trick to removing the electrical connectors is to remove the nut that secures the coil and then partially pull out the coil and then pull the connectors apart. This allows you to get a good grip with two fingers.
I followed your directions to the letter. It showed me where to be especially cautious and attentive, and it worked like a charm. Thanks, man. I couldn't have asked for a more complete guide.
This is the best video I found of changing a sparkplug for this car. This is the only video that shows exactly how to unplug the wires from the coils. Thank you sir, it only cost me 10 bucks to change that plug!!!! One more thing, I don't know anything about cars and your video walked me through what I needed to do. Thanks again
Jordan, YOU are one very sharp and thorough young man--thanks so much for this video. I am an older, reitred Viet Nam Vet and plan to tackle this job myself on my 2011 Pilot.
Great video!! I've replaced my spark plugs just once before. I'm a DIYer but not a KIA (know it all) type guy. Watched your EXCELLENT video just to give me a refresher and note any gotchas. Your approach to explaining this is spot on. Waiting for plugs to arrive (next week) to hit this before winter arrives. 200K maintenance stuff. Thanks for a great step-by-step explanation.
Hey Jordan, thanks for your detailed demonstration on changing spark plugs on the 2013 Honda Pilot. I found it very valuable. My vehicle is also a 2013 Honda Pilot Touring so this information is definitely very useful for me especially after running it for 10 years on the same spark plugs. Thanks once again.
If you drop the spark plug you don't necessarily need a new one unless it is damaged. Also, I have changed plugs many times and witnessed incorrect spark plug gap distances on brand new plugs. This is why you should double check the spark plug gap per the manufacturers specification using feeler gauges or a spark plug gap tool.
Come on man, someone or something had to set the standards for the plug gap and it you didn't have a gap what would happen? No spark...kids today...If you don't check the gap your gonna change the coil pack and then you change the coil pack only to find out you should've checked the plug gap...

Thanks for the vid! It took me about 3 hours to change all 6 spark plugs, but that included a stop at Walmart (about 40 minutes) to get a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter for my torque wrench. Getting the back spark plugs out sucked, but I started with those first to get them out of the way. 😁👍
Many thanks! All went smoothly changing the plugs on my 2015 Pilot. I will say a 1/4" ratcheting torque wrench with a 3/8" adapter made torquing the rear plugs easy.
Spark plug sockets are made for deep sells, have swivels and universal joints, and different lengths of extensions. When you grow up, you will have the right tool for each cylinder.

I found another video that shows the guy using a 3/8 rubber tube to pull out the spark plug. I guess next time I can use that to pull and install the spark plug. Yesterday, I tried just removing the rubber grommet that holds the plug when I install the plug -- I just dropped the plug into the receptacle. Working just fine for now.

Yes, on the ceramic surface does do something it helps make a watertight seal and helps pull the coil off in the future. Also there’s not a single plug that allows for 12 inches of space for a 12 inch hose

turn it counter clock wise till you hear a small click like sound to ensure no cross threading..
Why no anti seize?
Been using it on plugs forever.

It will mess with the emissions controls and you will over tighten the plugs.
It depends on what brand you use. NGK says DO NOT use anti seize for the Iridium ones.
