I would love to see a "Top 20/30/40/50 NES games" by the NESComplex. In my opinion this channel is the most interesting when it comes to gaming because of how diverse the already existing lists are. NESComplex has an opinion and it's definitely worth listening to.
Nostalgia is that feeling you get when you think about memories from simpler, more innocent times. Often times toys, games, commercials, songs, and such will bring these feelings about.
Thanks. I could've spent hours talking about all my favorites, but i thought this would be more to the point. I'll probably do a Top 20 in a few months.
I have collected most of the games I grew up with and my collecting for the system has really opened up. It's so much fun discovering new titles that I have never played. Just a few weeks ago I played Jackal for the first time and that thrill of finding an exciting new title is rewarding. Thank you for taking the time to show your collection, I was taking notes for new titles.
Thanks a ton sWegamer John. I appreciate your support. I'm working on a couple more collection/retrospective videos, but they take time to write out not to mention film and edit.
Yes he has been an inspiration to many of us on TH-cam. Parts of this video were done intentionally as a tribute to his influence on me personally. I put a link to his NES Collection video in my description. Thanks for watching.
Ah, yes, "The Magic of Scheherazade." A friend of my sisters' once had that game. It was a strangely interesting Zelda Clone which incorporates some RPG-style combat at some points.
NES COMPLEX...What to say man...you are incredible! I feel like you are a close friend. Thanks for the journey back to my childhood. You have encouraged me to continue collecting video games even more. I am thrilled to find someone who reviews video games/magazines that DOES NOT CUSS 50 times in his videos! Thanks for just being you...Keep up the AWESOME humor...NES COMPLEX FTW
i just recently found your channel. watching this video as i write this. wow. i love your collection. grats. never sell them. NEVER do that. Cherish all of them. And we can feel you passion in every word you speak. May you live long and prosper.
My all time favorite video game system!! The NES wasn't my first (or last) game system but, it was the one that got me hooked. I still play mine pretty often , to this day. This video takes me back some 30 years ago,to my childhood, when all that mattered to my buddies and I was video games and wrestling. Great, great times!!!
Subscribed a while ago just now seeing this. Nintendo was my childhood also. Started collecting a few years ago myself you have inspired me to continue to collect and look for all the great games on the NES. Great job on the video sir.
Thanks James...I spread the games out in the living room. It took about 4 hours to get them all out, film, and put them all away... Tiring as heck, but I haven't seen too many collection videos do that particular shot. I spend a lot of time cleaning my games and usually only buy games with good labels. I'm a perfectionist. I wanted to do some greenscreen like a certain bloke I know and walk amongst my games, but changed my mind at the last minute. Thanks for all the compliments, my friend.
Thank you for the kind words. I don't know about new standards, but I was trying to do this video in a different way. People have responded very well to it, so I decided to do a few more. I'm writing the N64 Collection video.
I was a late Jackal player, too. I love that game's play style. What a great title. Other adulthood discoveries with fast paced action are Gunsmoke and Guerrilla War. Great games.
WOW This is a different turn on your usual videos and I LOVE IT! You did an amazing job and it was a treat for me to watch this. You know what? I discovered you first....only from you did I come across AVGN. I never knew about him until I saw your channel so basically you popped my cherry in the TH-cam gaming world of this stuff... LOL...I Love AVGN and I thank you for introducing me to that but all in all...YOU are the one that got me started and I owe you a Big Thank You. Thank You Chris. :)
Thanks. I wanted to do a collection video a little bit differently than I usually see it done. I was trying to just hit the NES from as many angles as I could without overloading it with too many games.
I didn't take it in a bad way, but I guess I did slightly misunderstand your meaning. Thanks for watching. I want to do an "Is It Fun?" NES game that starts with "E". There are only a few... Any suggestions?
I grew up on the Atari 2600 but when the NES came out it was over for me! I was officially addicted to gaming and I spent so many nights staying up too late. So many classic games that I still go back to today, what a great era that was in history!
Well thank you, but I either read or heard others say most of what I know. I spent quite a while looking through my games considering the treasures and turds, the games with funny names and those with bad box art. I'm glad you liked it. The response has been so great that I'm thinking of doing a N64 video like this, too.
I'm a complete sucker for nostalgia. It's a big reason I collect video games and play them. This video has only managed to make me painfully aware at how small my collection is. Also, that I need to finally start printing covers as well and put my games in the UGCs. It looks like you have more NES games than I have games! Awesome video man!
Wow what a great video. I'm glad you took a different approach to showing off your NES collection. It was both very informative and fun at the same time.
Just subbed to you a little while ago and I must say, I'm really glad I did. I just started collecting a couple months ago and I feel like finding your channel has greatly contributed to helping me collect. Plus, I just love watching your vids, man. You're doing a great job adding different varieties of videos and I admire your collection. Great job! Hope to see more videos!!
Sorry to just get back to you. I have a video about those clear plastic cases called "The Cover Project..." There is a link in the description above. Thanks for watching :)
That's probably a good way to approach collecting. My collecting was very organic. I bought what I owned as a kid, then what i remembered laying at friend's houses, then games I had missed... and at that point I bought whatever I saw and didn't have. I mean why not. NES games at the swap meet are usually 3 for $5 or $1 each. It's hard to pass them up.
Thanks. I really try to put a lot of my own life into my videos. It is something I really enjoy about Happy Console Gamer's videos and I wish more TH-camrs would do it... so I decided to do it myself. I think it's kinda like reality TV... if people get to know you there is a deeper connection. I joined YT to make friends and I think that has helped. Thank you for watching.
The collection has been years in the making... about the cases... i did a video called the Cover Project and Universal Game Cases. That will hopefully explain everything.
I'll probably do one for every system eventually, but my other collections are not quite this big and this video took waaaay longer than I expected. I'll probably do a SNES and N64 sooner than later. I do have a N64 Top 20 in the works though. That'll be pretty soon.
Yeah.. I thought quite a bit about which direction I wanted to go with this one. I could have spent a few seconds on each game... that is a common approach, but I really wanted to hit the collection from various angles. I sort of did the aerial view thing to make up for the majority of the video being so intimate. I still have some misgivings about the direction I took. Oh well.
Sounds like you have an impressive modern collection. I have less than 20 360 games. lol. You got me beat there. I usually get about 5-10 NES games per month and spend only 20-50 bucks per month... over time it really adds up. 10 games per month is 120 games per year and I've been collecting for quite a while. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Wonderful video pal! Really enjoyed it, I'm already a collector but I'm sure a video like this will inspire many more people to explore their inner child! :)
Thank you, bro. I was gonna comment on your Gremlins video. I was very impressed... especially with the Mario side-kick bit. That is so awesome. I'm jealous that I didn't think of it first.
Scheherazade isn't that obscure a name. She's the queen that staved off being beheaded by the sultan by telling him a different story every night until he fell in love with her. It's from the book One Thousand and One Nights (or Arabian Nights) where stories like Aladdin and Ali Baba (Open sesame!) come from.
that shingen the ruler game was made by Hot-B...they also made a game called Palamedes. They did the exact same thing with the cover art, putting the instructions right on the cartridge itself lol
I know. An earlier version was released in Japan and Europe I believe on the MSX2 computer. I actually said those games either "got their start or were thrust into the mainstream" on the NES. Metal Gear was definitely thrust into the mainstream on the NES. Good call though. :)
Excellent video, and thanks for reminiscing as much as you did in. Having grown up with the NES myself, I can relate to just about all of your examples given, and it really hit home while watching. Thanks for putting this together!
I feel the exact same way.....i am drawn to games like Power Blade, Vice Project Doom, Journey to Silus....great games that i missed growing up.....i need to find a copy of Shatter Hand..this was beyond excellent, i really enjoyed it and congrats on scoring Ducktales 2 for $5...
0:19 That is awesome itself, having all the old childhood favorites that began the addiction in the first place. ;) 1:30 Ah, Nemo. Good times. 3:39 Haha. Can't say I blame you there. 4:05 Lucky bastard, haha. :P 5:30 Scheherazade, yeah like that word wasn't difficult enough to get without the text. o_O 6:24 All hail the all might NES! 7:23 Nice touch at the end with Little Complex. ;) Great video, Mr Complex. :)
I know. I actually said these were the games that launched the series or thrust them into the main-stream. In the U.S. Metal Gear on the NES did both. Good call though.
you really stepped up your production in this video. very high quality. i need to step mine up. this video inspired me a bit. good stuff and thanks for the compliment. marios been my side kick for a good bit ;)
I found the Sweet Home box art in a Google search but I modified it a bit. I've had to make several that weren't in the cover project database. They are lower quality but good enough for me.
Not finished watching this video, but XEXYZ and Little Nemo (also have to add Star Tropics) are some of MY favorite hidden gems for the NES as well, so glad someone else out there appreciates them :)
I played that game all the time as a kid. I kept tying to like it... that's what kids do when they have a new game. I didn't realize how bad it was when I was little... I just kept wandering around the camp, confused by what the heck was going on.
I keep them in a cardboard box in their original plastic cases. At one point i considered doing DS cases for them, but it would have been a pain to cut them and the cover project didn't have most of my games.
It was cool to see them all laid out like that. I haven't seen many YTs do it that way, so I thought I'd give it a go. Maybe I'll tile my bathroom... lol
I actually did a video about them called the cover project and universal game cases. It was my 3rd video. Check it out. I'm thinking about doing a sequel with some updated ideas.
I purposely didn't say, because that number will change and has changed since I started making the video. I currently have about 500, but ask me after MAGFest and it will be significantly higher.
Ah, Little Nemo! I enjoyed it a lot especially after you got the magic wand at the final stage! Don't forget Power Blade 2, Panic Restaurant, Final Mission, Shatterhand, and of course Adventure Island!

This allows me to make better sounding videos and prevents me from getting copyright violations from TH-cam. Gamester81 actually told me about it first and I noticed several TH-camrs including Captain8bit use the music.
I just ordered a 100 universal game case pack from Media Shelving. Have some great collecting stories so far... buying NES Battletoads/Double Dragon for 11 bucks... bought a Chubby Cherub for 5 bucks when the guy said it was worthless and one of my favorites.... Sesame Street ABC for 3 bucks. At one yard sale I picked up a 25 pack of nes games that had 2 smb two in it for 50 bucks and got an NES advantage with it!
Wow thank you for speading the word. I'm just thrilled that people are enjoying my videos and getting those childhood memories back. Thanks again.
I would love to see a "Top 20/30/40/50 NES games" by the NESComplex. In my opinion this channel is the most interesting when it comes to gaming because of how diverse the already existing lists are. NESComplex has an opinion and it's definitely worth listening to.
I LOVE how "no fighting" was on the list of rules for your NES club hahah. That was classic!
Nostalgia is that feeling you get when you think about memories from simpler, more innocent times. Often times toys, games, commercials, songs, and such will bring these feelings about.
2:29 😆 A game about Homerphobic people hating Gayliens. That title is horrible.
Thanks. I could've spent hours talking about all my favorites, but i thought this would be more to the point. I'll probably do a Top 20 in a few months.
Man, you really outdid yourself on this video! The editing and pacing is PERFECT! Great job
I have collected most of the games I grew up with and my collecting for the system has really opened up. It's so much fun discovering new titles that I have never played. Ah, yes, "The Magic of Scheherazade." A friend of my sisters' once had that game. It was a strangely interesting Zelda Clone which incorporates some RPG-style combat at some points.
Thank you so much for watching and encouraging me. It really means a lot.

Wow incredible collection! I'm with you, nostalgia is a big factor as to why I collect.
My all time favorite video game system!! The NES wasn't my first (or last) game system but, it was the one that got me hooked. I still play mine pretty often , to this day. Your games are so clean! All their labels are in amazing shape.

Thank you for the encouragement. I will definitely keep plodding along.

Damn, the NES was a beauty. My favorite console to collect for. Great video!
Thanks for watching... I haven't had the "pleasure" of playing Orb-3D or Abadox... I'll have to try them out for a laugh.
Wow what a great video. I'm glad you took a different approach to showing off your NES collection. It was both very informative and fun at the same time.

Nice interview with Gamester81 Chris! spreading the word about NEScomplex! Great channel! :)
it's amazing the world pixels can create when you're a kid, I was all about that double dribble, played it on a black n white 13 inch
Sorry to just get back to you. I have a video about those clear plastic cases called "The Cover Project..." There is a link in the description above. Thanks for watching :)
I think nostalgia ignites most of us, but the games really are still very fun to me. I play them all the time.
TH-cam gold right here. I am going to dig through more of your vids for sure. You are awesome!
Thanks for the compliment and for watching
Thank you very much for watching. I'm glad my video brought back memories.
Insane collection man just sick!
That's probably a good way to approach collecting. My collecting was very organic. Thank you. I would love to put up more videos from those series, but I've got too many plans and too many projects.
Thanks... the best part is being able to pull a game from the shelf and play at any time. It's taken quite a while to build to this though.
The collection has been years in the making... about the cases... i did a video called the Cover Project and Universal Game Cases. That will hopefully explain everything.
nice man, the black cloth is a nice touch. stealing it! :P
I'll probably do one for every system eventually, but my other collections are not quite this big and this video took waaaay longer than I expected. I'll probably do a SNES and N64 sooner than later. I do have a N64 Top 20 in the works though. That'll be pretty soon.

Lol. Nemo will always have a special place in my life. So many great memories. Thanks for commenting :)
Wonderful video pal! Really enjoyed it, I'm already a collector but I'm sure a video like this will inspire many more people to explore their inner child! :)
Been a collector for 10 years and have a modest library. Loved this video. Thanks!
Thank you, bro. I was gonna comment on your Gremlins video. I was very impressed... especially with the Mario side-kick bit. That is so awesome. I'm jealous that I didn't think of it first.
This is one of the greatest videos I have ever had the privilege of watching.

I hope so. That was one of my goals with this video.
Thank you so much. Full time YT would be amazing. I wish I had some better equipment, though. My vision is limited to my tools.
I know. An earlier version was released in Japan and Europe I believe on the MSX2 computer. I actually said those games either "got their start or were thrust into the mainstream" on the NES. Metal Gear was definitely thrust into the mainstream on the NES. Good call though. :)
Oh yeah. I remember your friend. Bummer about the sleeveless boxes. You will love the project once you get it going. Good luck, man.
Excellent video, and thanks for reminiscing as much as you did in. Having grown up with the NES myself, I can relate to just about all of your examples given, and it really hit home while watching. Thanks for putting this together!

How can u not like this guy? He has such a passion!
This one took quite a while. I wanted to do it right. Just uncasing, laying out, and recasing the games took several hours.
Thank you. I doubt I'll put this much work into every video, but it was fun.
I currently only have about 10 games for the TG16... I don't know how well that would work out, but I'll think about it.
0:19 That is awesome itself, having all the old childhood favorites that began the addiction in the first place. ;) 1:30 Ah, Nemo. Good times. 3:39 Haha. Great video man! The NES is my favorite console ever! You pretty much summed up exactly how I feel about the NES. So many great memories.
Thank you. Kevin MacLeod is a life saver when it comes to royalty free music. I was definitely going for epic.
Thanks. I thought a reference to one of my previous vids would be cool for those who have been watching for a while.
Maybe I'll tile my bathroom... lol
From The Cover Project. I did a couple videos on the subject. They look rad, no?
I never thought about it. I've been curious about getting Battle Kid.... maybe one day.
Thank you for subbing and watching. Sorry you subbed when I decided to take a short break. I'm working on several things though so stay tuned.
Really fun video man. Great camera work over the NES titles too. I thought to myself, "Did he buy a camera crane/jib?" lol
It's on my most wanted list. I saw one at PRGE, but someone had already bought it.
oh nice! i got few boxed nes games from my childhood as well.. but nothing bets Ufouria on the nes, still one of my favorites today :)
Ah, Little Nemo! I enjoyed it a lot especially after you got the magic wand at the final stage! Don't forget Power Blade 2, Panic Restaurant, Final Mission, Shatterhand, and of course Adventure Island!
always loved playing rolling thunder as a kid ill have to pick it up for my nes someday
Wow! Is that my feed? lol. Love your avatar. Studio Ghibli is fantastic!
I would agree, but the kind of secrets in SMB and Zelda were lightyears ahead of those in Adventure.
Good ear and No coincidence. Kevin MacLeod has an excellent collection of royalty free music that he allows anyone to use as long as proper credit is given.
I didn't say in the video because I know that number will change frequently. Currently about 500... but after this weekend that will be outdated.
