      @@johnnysweekends I bought the way overpriced EU7000is this year, wow, that's a nice unit. Not lifting that one ever! It doesn't even vibrate or wiggle when started and runs at such a nice low idle (around 2400rpm). Obviously a 5500 continuous rating from Honda is a huge underrate. That FI GX390 has the nuts to run a 7000watt load all day if necessary. So maybe not way overpriced after all! Buy once-cry once...and some folks have over 10,000 hours on them.

      Yeah I saw that too.
      I once borrowed a very heavy 6500 PSI gas engine powered industrial pressure washer from my work to clean my house brick. This thing weighed probably 200 lb...very heavy... I could barely roll it in the grass to the back of my house. A forklift brought it out to me on a pallet. I kind of scratched my head and said how am I going to get this into my Toyota four-wheel drive truck, which was pretty high. The pallet didn't fit with the bed liner in there so they couldn't just sit it in the back. The big 330 lb operator who brought it out to me said move, grabbed it by both ends, picked it up and put it into the back of my truck like it was nothing.
      When I was done using it at home it took two of us and a ramp to get it back into that truck.
      I recently bought a champion 100719... Packaged on a pallet the lading bill said 244 lb. The generator is 215. I had to cut the box out from around it. It would have been nice if you could have taken the top off the box after taking out some Staples, and have the sides just fold down. But it was all one piece heavily stapled together

      It is a nice unit for sure. And FI is a nice feature especially for elevation which will help. Wish it was a dual fuel model as propane is nice for fuel storage.

    I got my GM7250iEDC a couple of weeks ago and I have the updated version with a different front cover plate. I was surprised to see a magnet at the end of the oil dipstick so that was a plus. I did the break-in and converted it to a floating neutral. Tested the 7250 by connecting it to my house and handled some appliances well especially with the air fryer, microwave, small electric stove, and small electric kettle. I turned on the dryer and the surge from that caused the home inside lights to flicker but the generator increased idle to compensate. So far, I am happy with it's performance.

      Most any generator will add a little bit of db noise but it’s minimal. About 1 maybe 1.5 db from when it was new. But that takes a lot of hours 500 and beyond.
      Most units if they have issues will be in the first 100 hrs or less. After that it’s more the user and either neglect or abuse.
      But yes will see how this does in the first hours.

    Bought this gen from AMZ on sale July 4 for 1359. Very quite and loaded with features. I was sold on the 50 amp outlet so I could put max amp's right to my breaker panel. This one runs on a 312cc engine, an thing bigger mostly run on a 459cc engine which is more of a gas hog. You don't want a gas hog when all the gas stations are out of gas or no power to pump. The propane is a nice feature too, you end your run time on propane and you rinse the system of that nasty ethanol that will leave residue and give you trouble at the next disaster. For noise, with it running outside in front of my garage I can bareley hear it in the living room, go to the next room and you have to listen to hear it.

      How is shutting off the has flow to the carb, and switching the line to propane going to burn off the fuel in the carb? That makes no sense. It's just going to burn propane and not the residual fuel in the carb.

    Really impressed with those dB readings. Website says 8 hour runtime at 1/2 the rated capacity. I wonder if the engine is quieter or more efficient than a smaller generator running at say 80% capacity.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well you want to buy a generator that runs in that 30-80% area for you use. Running at 80% and above most times means you should step up to the next larger size. Same with a smaller unit, if you using a big one at 30% and below then you should step down a size. This will save fuel, weight, and overall cost typically.
      But some people will buy a large and use it for multipurpose. But a big engine will need more fuel even in lower rpm’s verses a much smaller at medium rpm.
      If that makes sense lol

      For comparison,
      a Westinghouse Quiet i2200/1700 is louder than a i4500/3700 running a 1200W charger,
      but it gets almost 50% better fuel to KW ratio.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Westinghouse is the same as the generac 2200 models as well and yes loud. I would buy many others over those. But they are using a Yamaha mz80 motor so they are a smaller cc so a little more fuel efficient till you get to about 60-70% rom range. Then a larger unit would be better.

    Hi Johnny. Great video. Wondering if you can do a video on the the GenMax 7250
    VS the
    AiPower GSX7100iRD ?
    GenMax is $1699
    AiPower is $1299 or $999 on sale.
    Both DUEL fuel, but when AiPower runs out of Propane it automatically switches over to gas by itself!! When you put a full LPG back on it switches to LPG, that’s its priority. Look at that runtime when it does it by itself. Incredible!
    Electric start/(2)Remotes and recoil.
    It has a 30amp
    4 prong and a
    50amp plug on the console front.
    The THD on the GenMax is less than
    5 THD Total harmonic distortion which is good for sensitive equipment.
    The AiPower 7100 has less than 3THD which is a cleaner sine wave for sensitive equipment, 3 being better than 5 don’t you agree?
    The DB ratings on both are similar, both super quiet inverter Generators. It has a tube to drain the oil and a tube to drain the fuel from the Carburetor, that’s great and they tuck away as well.
    The display and its many functions are amazing on the AiPower.
    There is no ATS switch like the GenMax has.
    It has parallel connections on the AiPower as well, with rubber covers to cover all the receptacles from rain.
    120/240 capable as well.
    Comes with handle and large wheels to move around.
    I considered the GenMax ($1699)
    but the price I paid in 12/2022 for the GXS7100iRD
    was $999 on sale at Costco free delivery. Now it’s $1299 with free delivery, now that’s a lot lower than $1699 for GenMax, don’t you agree? Please compare side by side so your fans can decide which one they should purchase.
    The AiPower has a
    4 Year Residential Warranty !
    Thanks for all your hard work.

    thanks for the video. Picked one up for camping and home backup. It's definitely quieter than running 2 2kw units in parallel. Noticed the front panel layout is different on mine. Did they change more than just the layout? Handle still rattles along with the fuel strainer and wheels. Fairly quiet for it's size but has a lot of squeaks, rattles and a just random panels making sounds. It also shakes significantly at idle. Power output is as advertised. Jury is out. Going to work on fixing the rattles and make a decision from there. There isn't much competition out there in this size / weight.

At nearly 100 hours the oil is still so clean it's hard to see when I check the oil. I'm thinking maybe the natural aluminum might be better in this regard.
    ALSO! Aluminum is an awesome heat conductor. The manual says to check the oil frequently. That's fine, but that aluminum dipstick gets HOT where the plastic one is very manageable to the touch. Maybe put some tape on the head of that aluminum dipstick.

Genmax says it should go into sleep mode after 12 hours. Seems odd it would have it anyway, but mine does not last 6 hours. So in the morning, when boondocking, you cannot use the remote start to get the genny going to make coffee. You have to walk outside and push button start it. Have you experienced this? If so, have you experienced a workaround?

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  ปีที่แล้ว

      They do have a parts warehouse in San Diego which they are adding more components all the time. But any new product takes a while to get items. Even like a new car, ford had major problems with the mustang E, which took months to get fixed due to tech and no parts yet.
      Now sure that’s a little different but like anything new takes a little time for the parts supply. Now sure you may not get every part but eBay also has parts along with Alibaba, due to many of these units use the same engines and more.
      Can you rebuild it like a Honda ? No but it’s also not $5000.

I just purchased and returned the A-iPower GXS7100iRD from Costco as it arrived with damage on all sides (including control panel), but no damage to the box, which leads me to believe they didn't really do much factory QC when packing it.
    So this is one of my main concerns with Genmax...the "what if" factor. The lack of support remarks scare me. Already wired with xfer panel, and coming from smaller wattage Wen & DuroMax non-inverter 240v, which have not failed and both had excellent tech support when needed. But trying to keep noise down for my neighbors, and can use some extra wattage, which is why I've been after a closed frame inverter. Honda / Yamaha outside of my budget.

      @johnnysweekends  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally understand, Genmax has been coming out with units no other manufacturer has even thought of but as they continue to build and grow so do there customer support needs. I know when at the show in Vegas this was something I talked to them about. And they said they are expanding that department to fit the needs of more customers. Along with more parts to be able to fix the common items.
      Now I know this takes takes and hope they have continued.
      The 7250 is a nice unit. Much better than the 6000 in many ways.
      I like champion products as well but they have some serious gaps in the product line. So will see what happens with them.

      @@johnnysweekends Have you had a chance to see the new Pulsar PGDA70BISCO? Very similar in appearance and (most) specs to the 7250iEDC. I'm guessing these are also coming from Genmax / Dinking? Oddly, Pulsar does not have the 50A 120/240 (only a 30A 120/240 twist and 30A RV), nor battery charging port or ATS. Pulsar also claims a 3 year limited warranty, but can't seem to find the details.... I did reach out to Pulsar for the manual, as the link on their site isn't working, but it doesn't mention warranty. I'll have to ask them again for the warranty paperwork. And the manual shows a control panel drawing with words "neutral floating"; while actual images of the panel are "neutral bonded to frame", so that's a pretty important typo for them to correct.

      If you read some of the comments which that’s up to you, many, many reports of predator, champion, and more roping into the thousands of hours with minimal issues or non. Just basic maintenance.
      Remember the user has something to do with your equipment.
      And generators like to be used more then sit.
      But there is one guy who is off grid, he gets about 4000 hrs on his little predators before they die. Which that’s about the same on the Hondas from a lot of reports. Maybe another thousand but he is also off grid and runs them almost non stop.

    I bought a Westinghouse RV ready 30-Amp, 4500-watt propane/gas inverter generator last week as backup power for my RV trailer and spent this weekend trying to figure out how to hook it up to trailers 50-Amp service. It only has the dyer type plug and two 120-vac outlets. I finally found a combiner Y-adapter which plugs into 30-Amp socket and one 20-Amp socket which then plugs into trailers 50-Amp cord. I wished I'd known about the Genmax sooner but I'm gonna keep what I bought because it can be double up with a second unit to create 9000-watts to handle both AC units and all of the trailers needs. Then I'm just learning about these onboard power centers with 12-volt converters and how the 120-volt side is unbeknownst to me, divided in two. Now knowing this I'm wondering just how much of this system will get powered up with this Westinghouse? There is a $600 dollar difference between the Genmax and the Westinghouse gensets. Trying to figure out if I made the right move or will I have to upgrade to an even bigger unit to power this RV trailer I live in full time. This Palomino RV has the plugin's for the solar system but I don't currently have one so I must rely on shore power / generator to supply converter to charge 12-volt system.

    What is the sound level 23 ft away form the ass end (not the front)?

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Larry the sound will change depending where it is and what it is sitting on. As you can see in the video when doing the sound checks if I set it on the grass it lowers it dramatically. But i could do a 1/4 or 30% load test and see what it does in my spot. I mainly dont do the rear even though I did but most people said they would have the rear facing away from where ever they reside. Which I agree but someone will probably hear the back.
      As for the ATS, it will have a delay to start. About 30 seconds or so then a warm up of about 30 seconds to a minute till power kicks out of the gen. I should have a updated model Transfer switch from them soon to test. 👍🏼

All these people with an RV don't reallize the RV's are most all 120v, the 50amp cord on an RV is setup for 2 120v lines. you can not get proper phased 240 with the 2 120v lines if you want to run one for the house, using a RV generator such as the Onan 7500 so you are stuck with only 120 in the house, which means no well or HWH - hate them cold showers.

      As far as a gen , man there are a world of options. Portable like this closed frame or big open frames or home stand by types that start at $1800 or so from Generac or champion that run on propane or NG.
      First I think budget…..cheaper always gets you a little less..
      Second portable or permanent mount
      If you dont need pure sine wave the doors open like crazy. You only need that for some things. Just depends what you are doing.
      I Think once you narrow those down it will help get you a little closer. And unfortunately so many are made in china, Taiwan and Vietnam as well. Mostly china including some from champion and generac. Yamaha now and even Honda has started as well.

      @LuisGonzalez-hk6qf it is more in what you need. Do you need the extra power? Or not. The larger gen is more money, more weight and larger engine which will burn more fuel. So if you need the power it’s a nice option. If you dont the Champion 4500 is a great option.

      I have not worked my way into this unit yet on making it a floating unit. Of course that “would “ void warranty on the unit according to the manual. So obviously something to consider. And the manual also does not show a easy way to switch it. So not sure how much disassembly there would be on this one. If you have to get to generator coil in back we’ll then your looking at maybe a hour job.

      Hi, oh good glad you found a link on it. I was gonna dig around as well when I got some time but in the manual is where it states that modifying the generator in any way would void it. But for things like this I would think not. 🤷🏼‍♂️
      You could just use a different type of TS that doesn’t carry the neutral over. It breaks it as soon as you are switching and you’ll just use the homes neutral as the bond. They make them. But I don’t know what you are trying to accomplish but it seems it would be easier if most gens were still floating. I don’t know if it’s a new NEC code that a gen should be a bonded one now but of course it says do not bond more then once soooo…🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the interlock won’t have anything to do with power, that just locks out the main breaker.
      But the 4500 watt water heater.. if that 240 volt which I assume it is, that means it’s probably 4500 watt elements times 2.
      That’s 9000 watts total, so that would be a no.
      You need a much larger unit like 15000 watts that’s way it runs around 12000 running. And then you use about 9000 watts or about 70-75% load.

      Ahh 4500 total isn’t bad at all. Champion makes good products as well and they have good customer service and support which is important. But I wish I would see a few other models in there product line like what genmax is doing. Now they are newer to the brand name and building the customer service side which takes time, but I like the options they are providing and bringing a good variety. The champion you listed I’m sure would be fine. But 50% quieter is just not possible as the intake makes noise the engine make a lot of well. And after having a few open frames over the years, its hard to go back. They have pros like lighter,easier to work on and cheaper. But I have neighbors so I try to be respectful. If I’m on a farm……….well lol.
      As far as the new model from genmax, its just that, new! And I think the first shipment and production run sold out quick, so others should be available for sale now maybe..??? But with any new product, it will take a while to get some real feed back from amazon, from reading comments in forums and more. Those are things I also research as well. Lots of reading to see what others are saying. Some of those you have to read through the lines and is it the buyer who could have been at fault because they don’t know what they are doing? They also neglect or abuse it. A lot more to ohhhh my generator died and its junk. Ok why?? How where you using it? What load? Was a load on when plugged in and more. I try to analyze more then just oh it died.
      Hope this helps…👍🏼

    OK, Mr. Johnny, I have some questions. I just recently acquired a 50 amp RV and I’m looking at a generator specifically this one. I understand that it is 50 amp 240 V however do the RVs actually pull 50 amp per side of the 240 or do they only pull 50 A in total but split between the two legs. Because how is it wired when you have it in your house or at an RV park? Is it 50 amp for the total of two legs or is it split. Or is it’s actually 50 amp per leg.

      Congrats on the new RV. Ok first…most RVs unless very expensive do not have any 240 volt appliances in them. It’s a 120 volt service trailer. But you need or can use a full 50 amps through the trailer if needed. This 50 amp service would allow you to use both ac units and run the microwave at the same time.
      Now it’s 25 amp per side or per leg.
      OK now the kicker. My trailer is a 50 amp trailer. But I can run both ac units or any thing in my trailer off a 30 amp service as long as I dont over load the circuit and use more than 30 amps.
      This is due to how many newer RV are wired now. Go look on your trailer connection and see if there is a sticker. You are looking for 208Y 240
      This means the whole trailer can run off a 120 service or 240 service. 30 or 50 amp. So depending what you need you could get say a champion 4500 and run the both ac units but maybe not the microwave at the same time. So depending what you want you could buy a 7250 genmax or other 240v generator or get a 120v larger generator. Just depends what you need, how you camp and where you camp.

      @@johnnysweekends ok I get it now. I think the 7250 is going to work for me. Do you know if gen max is going to come out with a new model for this year or are they going to stay pretty similar with their lineup?
