@@starazure I set the gain (volume) on the back of the subwoofer to the 12 o'clock position. Then I control the volume on my preamplifier. Sounds great for music. Sounds good for movies. I use a pair of JBL 550P subwoofers, along with a pair of OSD Black Trevoce 12" subwoofers, and 2 Electro-Voice 12" subwoofers. I think I may have pushed the JBL 550P maybe 100-150w max so far. The many subwoofers I have fill the room with sub bass fairly well without having to crank the volume too much. THX for responding. Even though it's 9 months later that I seen it. 🙂
I get what you’re saying, but it sounds clean and clear when the grill is off. It mainly happens when I play a Bluray that has a great 5.1 audio track. I will admit I push the volume a bit more on some occasions, but I’m always mindful of not overdriving the sub. I’m just glad it’s the grill rattling and not something internal
This is now $150 New on JBL site. Add to cart to see sale price. GREAT Deal
Was watching this video because of a $150 sale they have going on at JBL and Harmon Audio websites. Good video!
I see the $150 sale (in cart) dealete.com/post/0w__AsQ4fA
This morning before seeing your video. Just bought 2 new at JBL web site tax incl. for $189 ea. + free shipping, along with a full warranty.
Very nice. Make sure you slowly break in the subs. Low Volume first day or two. Cranking it up new may cause distortion in long run. Congrats!

Good review
This sub sounds great, but I notice that the grill will begin to rattle at certain frequencies and volume levels.
Yes I noticed that too but if you push it that hard sound can be less smooth anyways.
