I was a teenager during the rise of PTV, and the MySpace scene. It’s crazy how is young girls back then thought things like this was totally normal but now as an adult, it’s vomit inducing. We were impressionable, young, naive and so many artists took advantage of it. It’s so sad
The whole baby groupie scene in the 70s the 80s metal era groupies were start of underage girls sleeping with band members and they took advantage of that because those girls were young the young girls of today are more vulnerable because they look up to these bands and the band members still take advantage that it never changed .
Back around 2002, my buddies band was playing warped Tour and I got to hang out back stage where all the tour buses parked. We were sitting there drinking beers and he goes "hey man, see that bus over there? That's called the bad girl bus. It's where all the underage chicks are."

stoked my old friend/ coworker Loniel Robinson is now drumming for PTV instead of Fuentes; he is insanely talented + has always been a pretty damn good dude (he was part of my friend group back in 2007-2011ish, i have really old videos on my profile of him competing in Guitar Center Drum Off competitions). so happy to see him living out his dreams! im excited to have found this video, i love PTV + grew up when MySpace had just become a thing so I got to witness a lot of this insanity in real time. except at the time, people weren't warning us young, impressionable kids about unacceptable behavior by those we admired + wanted to be seen by. the #metoo movement hadn't occurred yet + the collective social conscious wasn't as interested in calling out creeps/ wrongdoing, not to mention that social media was in it's infancy so it wasn't as easy as it is nowadays to look into who to avoid.
I was stoked to see him being the one to take over, if I remember correctly he used to be the drum tech for Of Mice & Men, right? And then when he joined Letlive. and helped make one of my favorite albums of all time. I'm definitely a fan of his.

I'd be very surprised if it came out he worked on drums for the new album. If the allegations are true then he's a creep and I'm glad he's not in the band anymore. But the drums on their new album are ... lacking.

God, it’s crazy how a lot of bands I’ve jammed to or artists I’ve jammed to over the years. Are turning out to be vile humans. I’ll never forget meeting Dahvie when I was 14. And years later finding out what he did to he girls. And some are accused of awful things but are totally innocent.
As an elder emo, the culture at its infancy was super predatory for young people. Like I remember several instances of being a starstruck teenager and band guys way overstepping what I now know is appropriate. You don't ask kids for tours of their city or for their numbers. You don't act like that. As an adult now I'm mad that we let that be the cultural norm. I'm super excited to see a cultural revival of the genre but let's do it with less sexual harassment and pedophilia this time.
Ya it’s shitty to have my whole childhood/teens ruined. I was heavy in this scene and looking back, 13 years old with 21+ guys all the time was totally normal and “cool”, at 29 now… it’s pretty vile.
As someone who practically grew up in the “scene” and went to warped religiously I can confirm way to many bands got passes bc they’re big names, “they would never do that!” or they’re “hot”. This shit even trickled down into the fans where there would be 20+ y/o men speaking to underaged girls. Now, of course none of us will know if these allegations against mike are true until there’s proof or he himself comes forward (which I doubt) but we need to stop giving passes to bands. People always spew “they’re people too!” Then treat them as such, hold them accountable, make them face what they’ve done. If they’re just like us why are they not treated like us? If mike wasn’t in a popular band and the underaged girls came out the exact same way as they did, he would have been arrested. Let’s. Be. Honest. I also feel something in my gut that’s telling me Mike still records w the band and they have someone else play for the shows. Now this is just my speculation but after seeing what happened with the Hold on till may fiasco I know something is fishy.
Also follow up rant. I know damn well the band knew what was happening (if the allegations are true). If mike was in fact doing this thing ON TOUR you know damn well secrecy was sworn. I’m sure someone questioned it in the band or confronted him and Jaime (if he was also doing this shit) and they all sat down and discussed what the plan was if any of this came back and bit them in the ass bc let’s face it, they wanted self preservation. They were not about to be taken down bc of someone’s idiot and disgusting actions and that is why I believe Mike was so willing and quickly removed himself from the band when the allegations came to light bc it was discussed and premeditated. They had a game plan.
When I read "there would be 20+ y/o men speaking to underaged girls, me being one of them." I was like 😐😮 *_WTF?!?_* because I thought you meant you were one of the older guys in a band. Freaked me out for a short while lol.
I honestly never thought any of these dudes in the hundreds of warped tour type bands were even thinking about having sex with teenage girls, especially the 13-15 year olds because they were all super cringey and hyper and were with their parents and seemed to be a “turn off” to most of them, and some of the band dudes were assholes to fans. Also the fact they were performing nearly every day at different little towns and venues, so in my head I never went, “Oh, they’re probably sleeping with some of these teenagers.” If sex ever popped in my head, I would’ve thought theyd go to strip clubs, or most of them were in long term relationships and, naively, I didn’t even think they’d cheat on their significant others - yeah, I wasn’t smart. And I was about maybe 3 to 5 years younger than most of these band dudes, so yeah, I was dumb.
I highly doubt those were the only girls he did that to. He probably responded the way he did because he knows there may be proof out there somewhere, so if he said he didn't do it, it might just embolden other victims to come out with proof. Him not confirming or denying and trying to fade into the background leaves more room for people to speculate that he might be innocent, and maybe even forget about the whole thing. It's very unlikely for multiple people to independently decide to falsely accuse someone of the exact same thing. Even more unlikely when some of them aren't anonymous, given the amount of harassment given to those who accuse famous people of acts like this. I'm kinda surprised anyone doubts that it's true, especially when we know this was normalized in Warped Tour culture at the time.

The point I feel people are missing is that the 15yo never told her age or her intentions. A man’s intentions are quite obvious, if you don’t tell him you’re under age he’ll stay. MOST men, not all, would leave as soon as she told her age. She is partially to blame not just Fuentes.

The adult in the situation is responsible for making sure that the other person isn't an underage child before they engage with them sexually, period.

While it's absolutely a great thing to call out creeps when you see them in the scene, we also need to start letting the young girls that idolize these musicians know that just because they look cute or you love their music, it doesn't mean you should go anywhere near them beyond getting a quick photo. They aren't your friends, they aren't looking for a relationship, they don't care about anything you have except for what's in your pants. These guys are fresh out of high school with no restrictions beyond getting on the bus at a certain time, and have no supervision beyond their tour manager, and travel city to city, state to state, and will never see you again so it's easy for them to use you and dump you and leave you with emotions you don't understand and can't deal with. Never meet your idols, and never give them your number. (I'm not blaming the girls for what these creeps do to them, just hoping that with all of the stories you hear, someone would tell their friends that it isn't a good idea to go to a motel with some random drummer and have their lives defined by that moment for years to come)
I totally agree, I'm personally of the belief that while teenagers are obv gonna have sex, we should always promote people waiting until they're legal to have sex with ANYONE. No one needs to be doing that stuff so young

pierce the veil was such an integral part of my youth, and mike was one of my favorite members. when the allegations came out, i was so mad because it was yet another person who tricked everyone and i felt heartbroken for the victims.
they're my all time favourite band but i'm only new to their music. I found out about this a while back but it's nice to have the whole story combined into a video, awesome work! :)

man, this was a hard watch but definitely worth it. pierce the veil was the first band i really got into and their music helped me through some difficult times, not that it's unique or anything, it just hurt to see how the situation played out. i was pretty young when this happened and i just, y'know, was happy when mike 'left' but hearing that the other members may have done something and / or known it was going on was a hard pill to swallow. i'm a victim of abuse so i don't take this lightly and i hope that this will bring more light to the situation and hopefully we'll get more answers. i know it's unlikely but if it is true (and it seems that way) then the victims deserve some sort of peace and closure.

Still an unsettling age gap, in my opinion, but he technically didn’t do anything illegal in this scenario. Now whether or not he was open to 16 year olds in the US.. we don’t know for sure

If this situation happened there would you not only imply that it was ok, but slightly better considering he was in a country where he could've been with someone younger if he wanted to? If you can look at situations like these and be totally ok with the people you look up to getting a pass because they didnt technically do anything illegal, how does this reflect on your own morals and beliefs? Aren't these the kind of arguments that keep allowing these situations to occur? Regardless, legal or not, in whatever country, SHE WAS 16. That's a CHILD. Jaime was my favourite member at that age. That could've been me or any of my friends. Having to sit with this information, as someone who's been a huge fan for almost a decade, shits HARD. Guess who has it harder? The countless victims we KNOW exist considering the reputation Warped Tour had and the kinds of things we associate with bands and a "rockstar lifestyle" (for simplicity, but this extends to all celebs/musicians and the entertainment industry as a whole). Personally, I'm 24 and I find it hard even imagining entertaining someone more than 2 years younger than me, let alone someone whos age ends in teen, and coming from someone whos always been called "mature for their age"[groomers love this line] and had a lot of life experience by 18, NO ONE is fully cooked by that age. Grown Adults getting with teens fresh out of high school is predatory no matter what anyone says, let alone someone younger. From what I know of the US state laws and Chris Hansen's to catch a predator; if youre a grown adult paying attention to the age of consent/have literally memorised which states have the age at 16 (and its not part of ur job) theres high chance you should be locked up.
Honestly the most frustrating thing about this situation is that it feels like someone's hiding something. I think alot of people have come to the conclusion that Mike is (allegedly) guilty of grooming those girls. However, none of us know what the other members knew at the time and why the actual fuck he was in that Hold on Til May performance. I think Mike already had a play in some of the lyrics in the Jaws of Life prior leave but the shit with the performance and how the other members seem so suspicious makes it feel like something is missing. I get Mike is Vic's brother, which makes it alot more understandable, but I wish there was more clarity on the situation from Vic, Jamie, and Tony's perspectives. Pierce the Veil is probably my favorite band so these allegations tear me to shreds. My heart goes out to all of the victims and I can't imagine how they feel. I hope all of them are doing better now.

I'm from Argentina and when PTV came to give a show, Mike slept with a friend. She was of legal age at the time, but he just came down from his hotel room, talked to her for 2 minutes and took her to his room. in front of the other members. And on top of that he was in a relationship with Alysha (his wife) at that time. So we can understand that he is a horrible person and his bandmates knew what he was doing. So sad
Even if mike was telling the truth, people really never forget about things like this. If he had stayed with the band, he would be a weight on PTVs career moving forward.
I agree to an extent. People would always bring it up, but I guess my issue with that is, 1. Most people would’ve moved past if he heavily pushed back on them. Not completely but they would’ve been fine. 2. He at the very least could’ve defended his character a bit better, even if he was leaving the band. He didn’t really seem to try to vindicate himself. Oh boy, while I don't want to believe that any of my favorite musicians could be creeps, I do. So many of my favorite bands other than PTV, like Issues, All Time Low, Brand New, ADTR, have had members accused of statutory relations. It sucks and makes it that much harder to talk about them.

I remember when this happened and it was so shocking. I’m still unclear on whether or not he actually did what he did, but the amount of people that still say “he’s totally guilty cause he left the band” blows my mind. Tbh (this is in the case of if he didn’t do it, cause I’m still not sure as a lot of us are) if I was being accused of something I didn’t do and bombarded with it on social media all day every day, I’d probably leave the band as well, not just for me but for the sake of the rest of the members.

I find your videos to be quite relaxing, largely due to the simplicity and genuinity. Not overly edited, no flashy or bumpy shit and just normal speech and tone like you are not trying to change the way you speak and sound to add a “dark” effect to the video which i find super awesome.

Also to add: mike completely GHOSTED on his socials, at least instagram. when the allegations in 2017 came out i was so heartbroken over them (16 yr old girl at the time) and would constantly check his insta just to see if he had anymore to say. for years there was nothing. no new posts, comments, stories… just nothing. i know i was only 16 but that behavior made me realize he was most likely guilty. i mean, why else we he just drop off the face of the earth??? i think his instagram account is now deleted. good riddance.

as someone who followed ptv on their tours back in 2017, i remember when the first tweet was posted and i remember so many fans somehow justifying it because “16 is the legal age of consent in other countries” even though it literally happened in california. also he was cheating on his gf the entire time he was on tour so those are some great “morals” he claims to have. i believe the victims 100% and i think everyone else should too. i only started listening to them again when i realized he was out of the band for good bc their initial statement did make it sound like he was just taking a break. never knew about the allegation made against jaime and that is super fucking disappointing

I wanna say I remember hearing this a few years after I seen them in concert and man was it a tone change of how I looked at it after. Before this came to proper light I went to the concert keep in mind we where having a boardline snow storm hit during so VERY VERY cold, I seen so many people younger than me in crop tops and short shorts for their VIP pictures. I did not think much then other than “man it’s super cold outside how are you wearing that comfortably.” After I felt sick knowing how those girls where likely looked at by Mike.
Pierce the veil is one of my favorite bands and seeing this whole thing happen was definitely disappointing I'm a bit younger (I'm currently 14) so I didn't see It happen right when it did but I saw it happen in 2020 with the hold on till may thing. I remember being extremely upset because everyone was turning against ptv at this point and I was 11, I didn't know what to do. I wish this scene wasn't as horrible as it is but this isn't uncommon sadly anywhere.

I had quite a large following on MySpace, Tumblr and Stickam as a teen (I’m 30 now and have faded into Internet obscurity rip lmao) but looking back it’s insane to me how many men in their 20s and 30s thought it was perfectly fine to message me and my 13-15 year old friends, girls and boys, flirty or sexual messages. I remember being 15 and having a 22 year old (that I knew irl) ask me out (not to go on a date, he full on just asked me to start being his gf??) tbf that guy has been in prison like twice now for statutory rape so to figure, but yeah, looking back on being in that “scene” and having somewhat of an internet following too which mostly consisted of girls my age at the time and 20-30 year old men - kinda disturbing to look back on now as an adult.

Yaaasss I'm automatically in support of you for dropping underoath as one of your favorite bands. Underoath is what started it for me and still one of my top favorite bands of all time to this day.

I used to be a fan of Of Mice, especially Austin, and I'll never forget (I wonder if it can be found again, dug back up) seeing a picture of Austin Carlile with a group of girls in their bras and underwear, and they definitely looked underage. I wish I would have known to screenshot it, and I wish I would have known to not keep listening to their music after that. Fortunately I never went to any of their shows or bought any merch, etc., but still... My stomach is churning, just thinking about it. I'll never forget the public vitriol he put on display, when his ex, Gielle, supposedly cheated on him. It was likely the other way around, these famous men are masters at spin (I know about another vocalist in the scene who apparently cheated on his now ex-wife, with a sound girl, during Warped Tour. He wrote a song about she had supposedly cheated on him, and had talked about it during interviews and such, and had the fans believing them. They also apparently had a fraudulent Gofundme, scamming their fans out of over 6k). I'll also never forget seeing on Tumblr, years ago, when this young fan (I wish I could remember her URL and see if it's still there) used to post her interactions with Austin, including a meet and greet (I think it was at Warped), there was a picture of a letter that he wrote her, including the line, 'You're so little, and it's so cute,' and pictures that she had with him. I think she's the same chick that used to brag about having Alan Ashby (still in Of Mice) 's # and how they would text back and forth. I know there was also an account (I don't think it was her, I think it was a different young girl) that posted nudes of Alan Ashby. Again, I wish I would have thought to screenshot all of this, but I was so young and how f-ed up and most likely criminal all of this was, it wasn't on my radar...
The core scene back in 2010-12 was creepy as hell sometimes, I was groomed at 14 by 21-22 years old dudes. I was stupid and young so I did not know what was happening to me. Local scandal exploded during covid and a lot of girls like me came forward, I am so glad they did it but this was twitter (not the court) and they did not have proof (and sadly, probably never will).

I've had a lot of girls recently in the scene down where I am come out about a singer that I had always looked up too, and they explained a lot of his creepy behavior and how he went after the younger girls. It was never too uncommon to hear of these stories in the hardcore/metal scene.
I remember this band named Ghost Town whos singer had SA and R allegations but I dont think he ever addressed the allegations, they disappeared for a while and then came back with new songs but people still want answers
i've always heard about this story but not in this much detail. to me it's a huge loss, he's an incredible drummer and unique in many different ways. i can definitely feel the difference on the new album, the drums are not that interesting anymore. i think even with the new album being on a different genre than usual, the drums could've still been a bit more interesting. mike did well even in really simple songs and ballads from ptv. he'll always be on my top 5 fav drummers tbh. it's unfortunate that he has that past. i always try to like the artist and not the person but, this story sucks and i can't even begin to think on what else the rest of the band is involved.

I was a teenager during the rise of PTV, and the MySpace scene. It’s crazy how is young girls back then thought things like this was totally normal but now as an adult, it’s vomit inducing. We were impressionable, young, naive and so many artists took advantage of it. It’s so sad

The whole baby groupie scene in the 70s the 80s metal era groupies were start of underage girls sleeping with band members and they took advantage of that because those girls were young the young girls of today are more vulnerable because they look up to these bands and the band members still take advantage that it never changed .
Back around 2002, my buddies band was playing warped Tour and I got to hang out back stage where all the tour buses parked. We were sitting there drinking beers and he goes "hey man, see that bus over there? That's called the bad girl bus. It's where all the underage chicks are."

stoked my old friend/ coworker Loniel Robinson is now drumming for PTV instead of Fuentes; he is insanely talented + has always been a pretty damn good dude (he was part of my friend group back in 2007-2011ish, i have really old videos on my profile of him competing in Guitar Center Drum Off competitions). so happy to see him living out his dreams!
im excited to have found this video, i love PTV + grew up when MySpace had just become a thing so I got to witness a lot of this insanity in real time. except at the time, people weren't warning us young, impressionable kids about unacceptable behavior by those we admired + wanted to be seen by. the #metoo movement hadn't occurred yet + the collective social conscious wasn't as interested in calling out creeps/ wrongdoing, not to mention that social media was in it's infancy so it wasn't as easy as it is nowadays to look into who to avoid.

God, it’s crazy how a lot of bands I’ve jammed to or artists I’ve jammed to over the years. Are turning out to be vile humans. I’ll never forget meeting Dahvie when I was 14. And years later finding out what he did to he girls. And some are accused of awful things but are totally innocent.
As an elder emo, the culture at its infancy was super predatory for young people. Like I remember several instances of being a starstruck teenager and band guys way overstepping what I now know is appropriate. You don't ask kids for tours of their city or for their numbers. You don't act like that. As an adult now I'm mad that we let that be the cultural norm. I'm super excited to see a cultural revival of the genre but let's do it with less sexual harassment and pedophilia this time.
Ya it’s shitty to have my whole childhood/teens ruined. I was heavy in this scene and looking back, 13 years old with 21+ guys all the time was totally normal and “cool”, at 29 now… it’s pretty vile.

As someone who practically grew up in the “scene” and went to warped religiously I can confirm way to many bands got passes bc they’re big names, “they would never do that!” or they’re “hot”. This shit even trickled down into the fans where there would be 20+ y/o men speaking to underaged girls.
Now, of course none of us will know if these allegations against mike are true until there’s proof or he himself comes forward (which I doubt) but we need to stop giving passes to bands. People always spew “they’re people too!” Then treat them as such, hold them accountable, make them face what they’ve done. If they’re just like us why are they not treated like us? If mike wasn’t in a popular band and the underaged girls came out the exact same way as they did, he would have been arrested. Let’s. Be. Honest.
I also feel something in my gut that’s telling me Mike still records w the band and they have someone else play for the shows. Now this is just my speculation but after seeing what happened with the Hold on till may fiasco I know something is fishy.
Also follow up rant. I know damn well the band knew what was happening (if the allegations are true). If mike was in fact doing this thing ON TOUR you know damn well secrecy was sworn.
I’m sure someone questioned it in the band or confronted him and Jaime (if he was also doing this shit) and they all sat down and discussed what the plan was if any of this came back and bit them in the ass bc let’s face it, they wanted self preservation. I honestly never thought any of these dudes in the hundreds of warped tour type bands were even thinking about having sex with teenage girls, especially the 13-15 year olds because they were all super cringey and hyper and were with their parents and seemed to be a “turn off” to most of them, and some of the band dudes were assholes to fans. Also the fact they were performing nearly every day at different little towns and venues, so in my head I never went, “Oh, they’re probably sleeping with some of these teenagers.” If sex ever popped in my head, I would’ve thought theyd go to strip clubs, or most of them were in long term relationships and, naively, I didn’t even think they’d cheat on their significant others - yeah, I wasn’t smart. And I was about maybe 3 to 5 years younger than most of these band dudes, so yeah, I was dumb.
I highly doubt those were the only girls he did that to. He probably responded the way he did because he knows there may be proof out there somewhere, so if he said he didn't do it, it might just embolden other victims to come out with proof. Him not confirming or denying and trying to fade into the background leaves more room for people to speculate that he might be innocent, and maybe even forget about the whole thing.
It's very unlikely for multiple people to independently decide to falsely accuse someone of the exact same thing. Even more unlikely when some of them aren't anonymous, given the amount of harassment given to those who accuse famous people of acts like this. I'm kinda surprised anyone doubts that it's true, especially when we know this was normalized in Warped Tour culture at the time.

The point I feel people are missing is that the 15yo never told her age or her intentions. A man’s intentions are quite obvious, if you don’t tell him you’re under age he’ll stay. MOST men, not all, would leave as soon as she told her age. She is partially to blame not just Fuentes.

While it's absolutely a great thing to call out creeps when you see them in the scene, we also need to start letting the young girls that idolize these musicians know that just because they look cute or you love their music, it doesn't mean you should go anywhere near them beyond getting a quick photo. They aren't your friends, they aren't looking for a relationship, they don't care about anything you have except for what's in your pants. These guys are fresh out of high school with no restrictions beyond getting on the bus at a certain time, and have no supervision beyond their tour manager, and travel city to city, state to state, and will never see you again so it's easy for them to use you and dump you and leave you with emotions you don't understand and can't deal with. Never meet your idols, and never give them your number. (I'm not blaming the girls for what these creeps do to them, just hoping that with all of the stories you hear, someone would tell their friends that it isn't a good idea to go to a motel with some random drummer and have their lives defined by that moment for years to come)

pierce the veil was such an integral part of my youth, and mike was one of my favorite members. when the allegations came out, i was so mad because it was yet another person who tricked everyone and i felt heartbroken for the victims.
they're my all time favourite band but i'm only new to their music. I found out about this a while back but it's nice to have the whole story combined into a video, awesome work! :)

man, this was a hard watch but definitely worth it. pierce the veil was the first band i really got into and their music helped me through some difficult times, not that it's unique or anything, it just hurt to see how the situation played out. i was pretty young when this happened and i just, y'know, was happy when mike 'left' but hearing that the other members may have done something and / or known it was going on was a hard pill to swallow. i'm a victim of abuse so i don't take this lightly and i hope that this will bring more light to the situation and hopefully we'll get more answers. i know it's unlikely but if it is true (and it seems that way) then the victims deserve some sort of peace and closure.

Still an unsettling age gap, in my opinion, but he technically didn’t do anything illegal in this scenario. Now whether or not he was open to 16 year olds in the US.. we don’t know for sure

Regardless, legal or not, in whatever country, SHE WAS 16. That's a CHILD. Jaime was my favourite member at that age. That could've been me or any of my friends. Having to sit with this information, as someone who's been a huge fan for almost a decade, shits HARD. Guess who has it harder? The countless victims we KNOW exist considering the reputation Warped Tour had and the kinds of things we associate with bands and a "rockstar lifestyle" (for simplicity, but this extends to all celebs/musicians and the entertainment industry as a whole).
Personally, I'm 24 and I find it hard even imagining entertaining someone more than 2 years younger than me, let alone someone whos age ends in teen, and coming from someone whos always been called "mature for their age"[groomers love this line] and had a lot of life experience by 18, NO ONE is fully cooked by that age. Grown Adults getting with teens fresh out of high school is predatory no matter what anyone says, let alone someone younger. From what I know of the US state laws and Chris Hansen's to catch a predator; if youre a grown adult paying attention to the age of consent/have literally memorised which states have the age at 16 (and its not part of ur job) theres high chance you should be locked up.

Honestly the most frustrating thing about this situation is that it feels like someone's hiding something. I think alot of people have come to the conclusion that Mike is (allegedly) guilty of grooming those girls. However, none of us know what the other members knew at the time and why the actual fuck he was in that Hold on Til May performance. I think Mike already had a play in some of the lyrics in the Jaws of Life prior leave but the shit with the performance and how the other members seem so suspicious makes it feel like something is missing. I get Mike is Vic's brother, which makes it alot more understandable, but I wish there was more clarity on the situation from Vic, Jamie, and Tony's perspectives.
Pierce the Veil is probably my favorite band so these allegations tear me to shreds. My heart goes out to all of the victims and I can't imagine how they feel. I hope all of them are doing better now.

I'm from Argentina and when PTV came to give a show, Mike slept with a friend. She was of legal age at the time, but he just came down from his hotel room, talked to her for 2 minutes and took her to his room. in front of the other members. And on top of that he was in a relationship with Alysha (his wife) at that time. So we can understand that he is a horrible person and his bandmates knew what he was doing. So sad

Even if mike was telling the truth, people really never forget about things like this. If he had stayed with the band, he would be a weight on PTVs career moving forward.
I agree to an extent. People would always bring it up, but I guess my issue with that is, 1. Most people would’ve moved past if he heavily pushed back on them. Not completely but they would’ve been fine. 2. He at the very least could’ve defended his character a bit better, even if he was leaving the band. He didn’t really seem to try to vindicate himself.

I remember when this happened and it was so shocking. I’m still unclear on whether or not he actually did what he did, but the amount of people that still say “he’s totally guilty cause he left the band” blows my mind. Tbh (this is in the case of if he didn’t do it, cause I’m still not sure as a lot of us are) if I was being accused of something I didn’t do and bombarded with it on social media all day every day, I’d probably leave the band as well, not just for me but for the sake of the rest of the members.

Also to add: mike completely GHOSTED on his socials, at least instagram. when the allegations in 2017 came out i was so heartbroken over them (16 yr old girl at the time) and would constantly check his insta just to see if he had anymore to say. for years there was nothing. no new posts, comments, stories… just nothing. i know i was only 16 but that behavior made me realize he was most likely guilty. i mean, why else we he just drop off the face of the earth??? i think his instagram account is now deleted. good riddance.

as someone who followed ptv on their tours back in 2017, i remember when the first tweet was posted and i remember so many fans somehow justifying it because “16 is the legal age of consent in other countries” even though it literally happened in california. also he was cheating on his gf the entire time he was on tour so those are some great “morals” he claims to have. i believe the victims 100% and i think everyone else should too. i only started listening to them again when i realized he was out of the band for good bc their initial statement did make it sound like he was just taking a break. never knew about the allegation made against jaime and that is super fucking disappointing

I wanna say I remember hearing this a few years after I seen them in concert and man was it a tone change of how I looked at it after.
Before this came to proper light I went to the concert keep in mind we where having a boardline snow storm hit during so VERY VERY cold, I seen so many people younger than me in crop tops and short shorts for their VIP pictures. I did not think much then other than “man it’s super cold outside how are you wearing that comfortably.”
After I felt sick knowing how those girls where likely looked at by Mike.
Pierce the veil is one of my favorite bands and seeing this whole thing happen was definitely disappointing
I'm a bit younger (I'm currently 14) so I didn't see It happen right when it did but I saw it happen in 2020 with the hold on till may thing. I remember being extremely upset because everyone was turning against ptv at this point and I was 11, I didn't know what to do. I wish this scene wasn't as horrible as it is but this isn't uncommon sadly anywhere.

I had quite a large following on MySpace, Tumblr and Stickam as a teen (I’m 30 now and have faded into Internet obscurity rip lmao) but looking back it’s insane to me how many men in their 20s and 30s thought it was perfectly fine to message me and my 13-15 year old friends, girls and boys, flirty or sexual messages.
I remember being 15 and having a 22 year old (that I knew irl) ask me out (not to go on a date, he full on just asked me to start being his gf??) tbf that guy has been in prison like twice now for statutory rape so to figure, but yeah, looking back on being in that “scene” and having somewhat of an internet following too which mostly consisted of girls my age at the time and 20-30 year old men - kinda disturbing to look back on now as an adult.

I used to be a fan of Of Mice, especially Austin, and I'll never forget (I wonder if it can be found again, dug back up) seeing a picture of Austin Carlile with a group of girls in their bras and underwear, and they definitely looked underage. I wish I would have known to screenshot it, and I wish I would have known to not keep listening to their music after that.
Fortunately I never went to any of their shows or bought any merch, etc., but still... My stomach is churning, just thinking about it. I'll never forget the public vitriol he put on display, when his ex, Gielle, supposedly cheated on him.
It was likely the other way around, these famous men are masters at spin (I know about another vocalist in the scene who apparently cheated on his now ex-wife, with a sound girl, during Warped Tour. He wrote a song about she had supposedly cheated on him, and had talked about it during interviews and such, and had the fans believing them. They also apparently had a fraudulent Gofundme, scamming their fans out of over 6k).
I'll also never forget seeing on Tumblr, years ago, when this young fan (I wish I could remember her URL and see if it's still there) used to post her interactions with Austin, including a meet and greet (I think it was at Warped), there was a picture of a letter that he wrote her, including the line, 'You're so little, and it's so cute,' and pictures that she had with him.
I think she's the same chick that used to brag about having Alan Ashby (still in Of Mice) 's # and how they would text back and forth. I know there was also an account (I don't think it was her, I think it was a different young girl) that posted nudes of Alan Ashby. Again, I wish I would have thought to screenshot all of this, but I was so young and how f-ed up and most likely criminal all of this was, it wasn't on my radar...

The core scene back in 2010-12 was creepy as hell sometimes, I was groomed at 14 by 21-22 years old dudes. I was stupid and young so I did not know what was happening to me. Local scandal exploded during covid and a lot of girls like me came forward, I am so glad they did it but this was twitter (not the court) and they did not have proof (and sadly, probably never will).

pierce the veil has and still is my favourite band, i was absolutely floored when i heard about this.
I've had a lot of girls recently in the scene down where I am come out about a singer that I had always looked up too, and they explained a lot of his creepy behavior and how he went after the younger girls. It was never too uncommon to hear of these stories in the hardcore/metal scene.

i've always heard about this story but not in this much detail. to me it's a huge loss, he's an incredible drummer and unique in many different ways. i can definitely feel the difference on the new album, the drums are not that interesting anymore. i think even with the new album being on a different genre than usual, the drums could've still been a bit more interesting. mike did well even in really simple songs and ballads from ptv. he'll always be on my top 5 fav drummers tbh. it's unfortunate that he has that past. i always try to like the artist and not the person but, this story sucks and i can't even begin to think on what else the rest of the band is involved.
