    The 25s sound much better , and are more accurate than the 35s. The bass on the 35s is very bloated and boomy. The noise cancellation on the 35 is also better. Thank you!

    It's not a proprietary cable. It's a standard 2,5mm stereo jack. But in the QC25 it was recessed which meant that a normal sized jack couldn't fit while on the QC35 it isn't anymore so you can fit any 2,5mm to 3,5mm minijack cable!

    QC35 "internal battery" (that is not user replaceable) with a usb charging port is not a benefit it is:
    1. Less convenient - When traveling you're not always going to have access to a wall socket to plug your usb cable into.
    2. An excuse to force you to buy new headphones in a couple of years - LIon batteries die. Bose says that after 500 charges your battery will still have 80% life left. But that assumes optimal conditions of full discharge and full recharge cycles each time). The reality is that no literally one uses their devices like that and battery life will degrade much more quickly than that. This will be especially true for people that use the bluetooth feature - which can only run on batteries - and so people will constantly have the cans on charge just to "make sure it's ready when I need it". This is the worst possible use case for Lion batteries and they will degrade very quickly.
    However, my QC25s will last me a decade because I can maintain them myself (or if I get tired of them, I can give them to my parents to use - who would love them). I can replace the ear pads and i can replace the battery so the only issue will be if the electronics or speakers fry.
    Perfect example: I have a pair of Sennheiser RS180 wireless headphones that I purchased in 2010 that I still use all these years later. They allow me to walk around the house with my music when everyone else is asleep. Using Bose's ideology, (being unable to replace the battery myself), I would have had to pay Sennhieser to "replace" the battery at least once (probably twice - and Bose wants to charge you $259USD for that service). If Bose were at all concerned with "convenience", they would have included the USB port and kept the charging circut, but instead of using a non-replaceable battery, they would have allowed us recharge the AAA inside of the device.
    I'll keep using my QC25s + cabke.

      @geraldhenrickson7472 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. Lithium chemistry does not care if you fully discharge or fully charge. Also, a quality battery can last thousands of partial cycles and a decade or more. This kinda puts a damper on your comment. Sorry.

    sigh... i would rather have liked a AAA powered QC35, coming from QC15 I just carry a bunch of re-chargeable AAAs on its case and just swap them one by one, I'm not confident about QC35's battery longevity in general because then i have to go to bose for them to replace the "permanent" battery inside.

    • @GMapper14
      @GMapper14  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I kinda liked the AAA way too. But now I just carry a battery backup brick. Not too bad. But no AAA.

    • @lawrencesilva
      @lawrencesilva 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah... im really thinking about retiring my ever trusted 6yr old qc15s, in one hand i'm still not too confident on the 35's permanent battery if it will hold just as long, on the other hand i would really love to have that freedom from the proverbial audio wire while enjoying bose's unmatched noise cancelling feature. the struggle is real.

    Great review...just what I need to make my choice, only one serious doubt still persists though: What about the 'air pressure feeling' on both commented among other reviewers? Have you ever felt any difference regarding that issue between the QC25 and 35's? Greetings from Chile.

  • @thedalebury
    @thedalebury 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks GMapper14, great review. Two questions:
    1. At the 8:33 mark, you mention that the QC25 can be used without a cable (that is no audio source) to serve only the purpose of noise cancelling. Can the same be done with the QC35, or does it need to be playing audio to perform noise cancelling?
    2. If the battery on the QC35 dies, and you plug it into an audio source like a laptop's 3.5mm port or a plane's dual 3.5mm port, does the noise cancelling function, or do you just get audio without both EQ and noise cancelling? I would have thought that the power from these types of sources would only be enough to send an audio signal, but not enough to power the EQ and noise cancelling features.

    • @GMapper14
      @GMapper14  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! The 35's can be used with out audio playing, and the noise canceling works just fine. Sadly plugging in will not restore the NC abilities. So if the battery dies then you only can use it for basic audio functions. As far as I can tell there is no button lock. But I feel like these buttons are placed really well and cannot be clicked on accident. :)

    • @micahgrauel8770
      @micahgrauel8770 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      chords are only supposed to send audio signals to devices. Any noise cancellations are dependent on the computer within the headphones. The same thing with the voice prompts.

    You can use the Apple version on Android and vice versa, but you just can't use the inline controls. If you have both devices and you really need to use the controls, you can buy an extra cord for $30 from Bose.

  • @thedalebury
    @thedalebury 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry, one final question. Is there a 'lock' option for the buttons, so if you want to sleep on a plane using the headphones just for noise cancelling, and you end up on your side, the buttons if accidentally pressed don't do anything? Some devices had a dedicated 'lock' button, others make you press a combination of buttons to activate/deactivate it.

    The whole in-line control thing started with apple. When apple introduced the iPod shuffle 4th generation, the device didn't have any controls on it. instead, the iPod was controlled through the headphones. The control system was designed with the blind in mind. That iPod was the first iPod to feature voiceover, making it a revolutionary product for the blind, and a revolutionary product for apple. just a little history lesson from a blind youtube user.

    I've read one magazine review on TH-cam that says that the noise cancelling is disabled when using the QC35 wired. Surely, that can't be right? What if you want to watch the inflight movie and have to use the cable. That can't really turn off the noise cancelling, can it? I hope Bose aren't suggesting you need to own a QC25 for that as well!
    By the way, great review and I like the idea of using a QC25 cable to get the inline controls.

    Hey I just bought the QC35, but I wasn't hesitant on buying them because I thought they were only 350 because of the extra features. But since they were Bose a good brand I said what the heck and just got em anyway. But you kinda answered my question in the first few seconds in your video about the sound quality. What I was worried about.
    Do you know any good sound quality headphones that you can recommend me that doesn't require Bluetooth and all that other stuff. All I care about is the sound quality. I'd really appreciate your response.

    With the price drop to 179, do you still think the qc35 is worth the extra money?

    • @WillKlein
      @WillKlein 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Given his breakdown, I opted for the QC25s. He openly states they're both good options at the higher price (QC25 at $300) but the QC35 wins for just $50 more. Given the price drop, I have a hard time paying $150 more to go full wireless (QC35 at $330 right now), especially with nothing groundbreaking unless you get the QC35 II for $350 and want Google Assistant. QC25 may be "dated" but my producer friend still uses them for the comfort and noise cancellation. They seem like a great value at $180.

      Will Klein I was debating between the QC35ii and Sony MX1000M2 but then I passed by the Bose store and I saw the QC25 was on sale at 159USD. Fired up Google for 10 min doing some on the spot research after which the decision was easy for me, QC25 all the way. Tested them on my flight back home and they were awesome. Agree bass was a little weak but it was easily fixable by using the Poweramp app which has an advanced eq .

    So how well do they work when connected to multiple devices? My current bluetooth headphones (plantronics backbeat pro) have a hard time dealing with more than two devices (I often have to unpair/pair them).
    I need to have them wirelessly connected to my desktop pc, work pc, laptop and at least one phone :-)

    • @noeyewar
      @noeyewar 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And a second question. Can they be used while they are being charged?
      By the way, I really hope the sound quality have been improved. Went to the bose store a few days ago (they didn't have the qc35's yet) and compared my backbeat pros to the qc 25. The noise cannselation are so much better on the Bose but I was shocked to realise my backbeat pros sound quality was far better. I did not expect that... Unfortunately they are falling apart, so I will have to get some new cans :-)

    • @GMapper14
      @GMapper14  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was really surprised at the multi device quality on the 35's! I had them connected to my Apple TV and iphone at the same time with no problems. Watching a Movie on the TV and get a phone call, the TV pauses and I hear ringing. End the call, and it plays the TV again. Awesome stuff! And no distortion either. I believe they can be used while charging, but I'm not 100% sure. And yes, the quality is much muuuch improved. That was my one problem with the 25's. Go to best buy, they have sooooo many 35's in stock and on display for testing. I think the 35's sound incredible, in my opinion.

      I recently tested the QC25 and QC35 side by side, Mojo amp with my Samsung S7 and the QC35 seems more staged with cable attached, Bluetooth is just average sound but good for on the go. I would still agree, there is very little difference between them apart from Bluetooth capability.

      I just received my QC25 after returning the QC35 and I'm returning these 25 back again and finally buying-and keeping-a pair of QC35. The noise cancelation is much better in the QC35. Whit the QC35 I couldn't even hear my phone when it rang whereas in the QC25 I could perfectly hear it.

    The QC35's re too much money and they sound just as good as the QC25'S

      Price is subjective of course, the value varies from individual to individual. I feel like the $50 extra is worth it for the Bluetooth and better sound. But I am glad they kept the 25's so people still have a cheaper choice!

      After comparison in local store I can say that qc35 sounds definitely better than qc25 even despite we listened to them in wireless mode
