Talking of steel works made me remember a 105 year old lady i had the pleasure of looking after at a nursing home 20 yrsago. She was the last cutler alive. Passed away 2 weeks to her 106th Birthday.

Funny.enough I sat one step during the Orgreave.Justice rally couple of weeks back.
There was an event in.a a very few people where going in.
Sure enough a yellow jacket approached to tell me to move as I was blocking the evacuation route.
I said if people come out I am.happy to.take the 1 step to be out the way.
Besides what about thus 10 foot banner laying over the steps.
I was polite to her pointing out the lunacy of her position and I was staying put.
" In that case.I will get someone to make you move" And she huffed off.
Few mins later a higher up came out ,and was polite and shook his hand, he did have a job to do but did it right.

My Gran was put to work during Ww2 in a factory. As a 14 year old and nimble and most easily replaced she was made to stand in the factory Roof to spot for incoming bombers. 14. A health and Safety nightmare....

Sheffield. I remember a few years ago, on my first ever visit to the city. Booked into my hotel and went for an evening sightseeing walk. Within 10 minutes, a young lady approached me and asked if I 'wanted to do a bit of business'. First impressions and all that. LOL

The main thing i remember about Shefield was in the 80s driving above the place on the motorway was the 'industrial' smell and smog. I gues thats gone as well.😎
I was in town having similar discussions with ’the bus stop people’ literally half an hour before you today. After binge watching lots of your videos while I was off ill from work for a couple of weeks before Christmas I was hoping you’d come back to Sheffield some time so if I’d have known you were coming I’d have offered to buy you a meal - or at least a drink. Damn!!! Can’t believe I missed you! 🫣 When I saw the Halfway tram going past I was thinking of your last visit to Sheffield not realising that you were in the vicinity. What a coincidence!
I’ve talked to the guy selling the socialist paper numerous times but he has no arguments, I think he does it because he’s stuck in a time warp and it gives him a purpose in life. Next time try going down to The Moor as there are usually religious groups down there - not today though, it was quiet.
As an aside, not all the steel works and cutlery have gone; Sheffield Forgemasters are still a major manufacturer down the Lower Don Valley.

This sort of thing doesn't happen in Australia, security license holders are trained to know their limits and they're heavily regulated. Step over the line and you lose your license. The cops like nothing better than to bust a security guard who's out of line.

Funnily enough Sheffield has more trees per person than any other city in Europe. The city centre does lack them compared to the suburbs though.
