you have to watch the movie cadillac records, where you can see the muddy walters, chuck berry etta james, little walter begining, the even show how the stone were inspired for muddy, is an incredible movie.
Great show! I have this on a DVD, the whole thing is amazing, and highlights the Stones huge appreciation of Muddy Waters and his role in their rise to fame. Hell, even the band name is from Rolling Stone Blues, written by Muddy! Thanks for the upload, it's great to see Muddy waters on YT, we have got to keep his name alive.
Legend goes that Mick Jagger was visiting a recording studio and asked if they knew Muddy Water. The studio folks smiled told him he was painting the studio walls for them due to lack of other work. Mick had tears in his eyes when he saw Muddy (Morgan) on the ladder painting walls. He hugged him and asked him to sing for his label. Muddy did and the rest is history.
please keep on searching, for us , that kind of rarities , with a very good sound indeed ! the roots of the blues together with a "millionnaire"band . An historical piece. Must be seen by the future génération in schol, to understand the all story of electric music , rythm and blues ans all the real stuff.
Lennon said that before he knew how to write music he used to write his lyrics to other people's music. He'd then change a few chords to avoid getting sued. One example is the riff of "I feel fine". I believe it was taken from Bobby Parker's "Watch your step". Funny enough that riff was also used by Led Zep in "Moby Dick".
Paradiso Amsterdam 1966 Hier kwamen op een zaterdag avond onverwacht de Stones binnen.Na een joint en een slok drank stonden ze ook op het podium.Dat ging nog gewoon in die tijd.
No this is in '81. Looking at Mick's clothes, it looks like they were in between Chicago gigs of their Still Life tour of '81. Muddy had another two years.
ya'll are missing the point...this is just having fun and paying respect to Muddy...even Mick. Keith opening the bottle with his knife... then walking over the tables and hugging the woman as he jumps off...Rock Star baby....
Is that recorded in Checkerboard Lounge ? If so, Keef's book, Life, says it was in 1981... We just have to know WHERE this was to know WHEN it was then ^^
Yes, love that part as well. But think they give the bottle to Keith because everyone knows he always carries a knife and at 3:05 you can see the blade coming out to open the bottle. Watch carefully, it's clearly visible.
Stole is kind of a misleading.... The great Blues Smiths shared their music.... You can hear John Lee Hooker covering Muddy Waters tunes.... and the other way 'round.
When they put their own names on it and took royalties, that's steeling. Cream was one of the first bands to actually hire detectives to seek out the original songwriters and ensure they received their royalty checks. Check the early Stones albums for who is credited with the songs. Lot's of Jagger-Richards that we all know to be bogus.
How can you say the Beatles stole music? Other than cover versions of Rock and Roll tunes they listened to in England, it appears that the Stones did the EXACT same thing. Any cover the Beatles did they gave credit to the original ... Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Motown, Little Richard. The Stones did the same thing. Your comment is pointless.
It is from 1981. There's another video on here which confirms it from the exact same concert. It's too good colour and mick looks like he is aging and muddy has less than 2 years to live at this point. Ronnie joined in 1975 and even the clothes look more 80's type and the club too.
Ronnie Wood didn't join the Stones till 1975 so it's probably late '70s, not early. Anyway, I'm white and English and love the Stones but I'm here for Muddy Waters without whom they would not exist (& Mick shouldn't try singing when Muddy's around).
I just hope I can be half as cool as this when I get old. Shit, I don't mind mick, keith, and the stones walking in front of Muddy like that, but not those fuckin' bimbos, unless of course they are gonna give Muddy some action, which they should!

godfather gettin well deserved respect. ultimate super regards paid by the stones. obviously stones were truly inspired by the don corleone of blues.
The Band is Muddy, Mick Jagger ,Ronnie,Keith, Buddy Guy,Junior Wells,Lefty Dizz and Ian Stewart on piano
Sit in?!! They should be on their knees praising him and giving him thanks.
Jahn Ross, Captain
Rammstein
Bangkok Nightlife is overrated
It,s fantastic musik historie :)
The name "Checkerboard Lounge" was on the outside of the building in this footage, when the members of the Rolling Stones entered the lounge.
Das ist BLUES YEA!
@JASONCALEDONIA You are so right!

you have to give to the stones, they recognized the man that they stole everything from !
he's playing a very accurate approximation of what muddy's original sound was like
1981!
This video is now officially available ...
No this is in '81. Looking at Mick's clothes, it looks like they were in between Chicago gigs of their Still Life tour of '81. Muddy had another two years.
when was video taken it's fantastic!
i wish the camera stayed on muddy waters and the band.
fuck yeah!
@Tranthum- much later than early 70's. I'm gonna investigate.
Exactly which songs are you talking about?
1981:)
creator and creation
did Elvis record this? he grew up immersed in all the music fm the churches and the fields.
@SugarXMind99- how can you be so sure of that EXACT date? Coincides with a date the band had? I'm guessing so.
ya'll are missing the point...this is just having fun and paying respect to Muddy...even Mick. Keith opening the bottle with his knife... then walking over the tables and hugging the woman as he jumps off...Rock Star baby....
I WANT MUDDY'S GUITAR!!!!!!!
Is that recorded in Checkerboard Lounge ? If so, Keef's book, Life, says it was in 1981... We just have to know WHERE this was to know WHEN it was then ^^
Como Keith es un groso, tenia que entrar al escenario de esa misma manera!!!
at 3:05 Keef uses a flip-knife to open the bottle of Jack - haha!
:) yeeeeeah!
oh yeah your comment proves again the blues are worldwide thanks!
I thought he said Brian Jones when he called out the last guest Stone, which would put this in the Sixties, but you're probably right.
yes, 1981 is a quite right guessing, i think
Just look at Mick's clothes and Keith's haircut...
Miller Lite was introduced in 1975
Anyone know if that's Little Walter on the harp?
sweet red telecaster
Well... Anyone over there knows where this was recorded ????
and I'm not dissing the Beatles! I love em too, they did borrow a few tunes without asking first though.
Im guessing the harp The harp player is James Cotton .
@SuarXMind99 Already 30 years ago :0

gotta love watchin a muddy video and the ad on the side is for the obama campaign...i love chicago
Stole is kind of a misleading.... The great Blues Smiths shared their music.... You can hear John Lee Hooker covering Muddy Waters tunes.... and the other way 'round.
i rolling sono "nothing" davanti al grande muddy.
Yup Mick don't / can't compare to the all clear voice of Mr Muddy!!!!!!
Pam
Keith is good in blues and every one knows where' the roots- Sory my bad english.
Most blues songs have really similar melodies and riffs. It's not one big act of plaigiarism; the music is in the public domain.
Actually it's 1981 not the 70s
why are there dislikes?
Okay, I was right, then ! 1981 :D
i seen reggie hammon in the back with nick nolte
stones no 2 ican't be satisfied m waters stones 1 walking the dog ,thomas.
I hope i see muddy when i am dead..

Hmm I have no idea.
Notice how Mick keeps scratching his upper arm?? He's definitely just jacked up!!

It's almost like the wheels of time didn't took their spin at them, especially Keith
At least Muddy can sing.
Mud takes em' all to school
Probably not, as Little Walter died in 1968 ... It's Mojo Buford on harp here ...
I just hope I can be half as cool as this when I get old. Shit, I don't mind mick, keith, and the stones walking in front of Muddy like that, but not those fuckin' bimbos, unless of course they are gonna give Muddy some action, which they should!
