It's been 4 years since you made the video, but it is helpful to me. The battery in mine is going out (I assume). The charge is not lasting long, and the phone gets hot. I repair just about everything around the house, and at some rentals, but I have not destroyed this phone yet. I have dropped it off of a roof onto a concrete patio, dropped it in a pool, an axle fell on it, and I have not damaged it. My wife dropped her Samsung Note on the floor and cracked the screen. These Kyocera phones are real work horses.
bought a brand new battery online for $18 with install kit. directions are clear and concise. saved a bit of money, and my phone is back up and running at 100%!
Just got done replacing mine, with help from your GREAT video - Thanks for making it and sharing! The induction coil ribbon yanked out of the connector before I was able to flip the lock up when I tried to separate the back and didn't realize the battery was taped to the back. All in all, the only trouble I had was getting the coil ribbon back in the connector. Phone works fine, and now it keeps a charge. Thanks again, your help with the video is greatly appreciated!
How is the phone holding up? Im looking at buying one for 40$ as a more durable replacement for my iPhone 7 Plus. Can it run youtube and discord decently?
Thanks so much for this, just bought one for $45 on OfferUp and it's in perfect condition besides the battery life not being so great (which I heard it's not already). But this is actually an easier battery removal than pretty much every other phone that's on the market.
I'm so glad I looked up how to change the battery before I tried taking my phone apart. I don't have any time screwdrivers so I'm hoping this current battery will last until next paycheck! Thanks for making this :)
Hey I read the comment about the screen but do you know what the next steps would be to remove the screen? Probably everything you did in this video to remove the battery plus some more stuff to remove possibly? Or do you remember noticing how it might come out? This is a great video by the way and thanks for your time!
You know I really have no idea. the phone was designed to have the screen taken off last. which means that you have to take off everything in order to get to the screen. you might want to check out my Kyocera brigidier vide. this one is probably a similar build. th-cam.com/video/yxAF5nLpMhU/w-d-xo.html
Hi Brent, I ordered a "New" battery from Amazon. Manufacture is "Maxbear". The model of their battery is : SCP-67LBPS. Says "For Kyocera DuraForce Pro E6810. Another model number on the battery is : YY16RB. This battery does NOT have the little delicate flat tab wires on it, rather just 3 contact points on the top left hand edge. I thought I was purchasing the correct one, but evidentially not. Now just waiting for Amazon to tell me, "To bad". I opened it up, just to check and see. So now, I know how to get into it, and know how those little tabs go back ! My phone is exactly like the one you were giving the video instructions on. Perfect step by step instructions ! Can, or would you please provide the link where you got yours. Thanks very much, Peter
@@ronaldjohnson624 I don't think I ran into "Connector" problems. Once I got "The correct battery", I was just able to follow instructions from the video, and it worked out well. Good luck !
Exact phone I have. Maybe this will help my phone. It has been reading 50% since yesterday, even though I have used it all day, and have had it on the charger all night! Maybe even just taking the battery out and reinstalling will help. If not, I will be changing out the battery like you did. Overall, very hopeful that this should help!
Actually, all I had to do is let my phone die. Once it had no charge left, I plugged in, and once it had enough juice to power on, it started to read normally again! No new battery needed! Thanks for your advice though! When I need a new battery, I will know what to do!
I have the Kyocera Duraforce Pro 2, model E6910. would you know if the take apart procedure is similar. My battery is no longer hold a decent charge and I need to replace it. Thanks.
If you have the Kyocera Durapro 2, it takes a SCP 72LBPS battery. The SCP 68 will not fit and the induction coil is glued to the wrong side. Ask me why I know this. There is also 4 more screws that have to come out to get the case open.
mine actually seems to be fine. But sometimes it is very slow, and hangs up as soon as I dial a phone number. Sometimes after I turn it totally off for 10 minutes or so and back on it's ok for a few days. Does that sound like battery to you?
For future reference, that connection is for the wireless charging. If anyone orders the battery from Amazon without that pad on the battery with the connector, it will still work, you will just lose the wireless charging ability.
I'm going to guess not easily. The circuitry to control that is probably on the motherboard, not the flat coil attached to the battery. It's really just a variation on how old voltage transformers work with the coils shaped as flat spirals of wire instead. Don't feel too bad. At first I didn't know there were two wireless charging formats, and bought the wrong one. LOL
What is involved in replacing the usb connector on the duraforce pro? I see them online, looks like it hooks up with a cable so hopefully it is replaceable without too much difficulty.
Man those things aren't cheap. I'm not sure, it's been a while since ive taken apart this phone. looks like it just plugs in, but the most difficult part would be taking the phone apart first
there is some strong adhesive underneath the speakers. You need to use the right amount of pressure to release it because it's on top of the charging port
Well, I did it! I changed the battery. Geesh! That was a task! You made it look so easy! We only had one spare part. I couldn't get one of the buttons back in place. My husband said he was okay with out it. (I think it was a camera button) Anyhow, the phone powered up and I"m off to charge it. Thanks! P.S. those buttons were buggers, trying to get them back into place!
you just have to search around for one. There are a few on ebay. Do a google search, and find the model number off of the battery. The model number on the phone or the model number on the battery will help you find what you are looking for
Great video thanks for the demonstration. Now if someone could actually root this phone it;d be great! I even spoke to a customer service representative directly about getting into recovery mode but she said if you happen to forgot the password the phone is bricked because there's supposedly no recovery mode whatsoever. She said you have to send the phone directly into them to get it reset which is complete and utter bullshit! I love this phone but I won't get another one because Kyocera is too hush hush about allowing customers root their phones. I've never seen a phone so difficult to root in my life!!
Good luck. Remember to set aside a few hours in a quiet room without any distractions. If you get frustrated, take a break because frustration causes things to break.
dont know who to be pissed off at you or the makers of the phone after popping off the case and all the buttons flew out it was nearly impossible to put it all back together. 4/10 rating for you sir. thanks for showing me how to unscrew some screws though i guess....
Hey, I ordered a battery on Amazon for my old e6810 but it does not come with the wire ribbon attached to it. Should I still try it and see if it works, what do you suggest?
You might have damaged something on the motherboard. Usually the headset always being on means that there is something stuck in the headphone jack. (Usually lint) But since it started doing that after you dropped it then it might have damaged something more serious.

Thank God I watched this before I attempted to change the battery! Will watch 6 more times before I attempt. To many screws.

A very well edited video. I have ordered a new battery for my E6810 and I now have the confidence to replace the battery on my own. Thanks!
