    Seeing vandalblast exiled to chrome mox before everyone loses to helm of obedience hurts in retrospect

      Mystified how there was zero interaction in 2 whole games with multiple blue/green players.

I realize this is makes him go down 2 cards, but the twister was from player 4, so no one was getting insanely punished by it. And kinnan breaks insane parity with all the fast mana. I dont get why the first helm activation caused the entire library to be exiled. You stop at X or at a creature, whichever comes first, and as far as i can tell X=1 there... what am i missing?

    • @PlayingWithPowerMTG
      @PlayingWithPowerMTG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They never enter the graveyard since Rest In Peace exiles them. So it repeats for the entire library.

  • @tofu585
    @tofu585 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can someone explain to me why the helm was exiling everyones whole libraries? Never seen the card before

    • @slay-thoven1357
      @slay-thoven1357 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rest in Peace and Helm are a 2 card combo. Rest in Peace exiles the card instead of putting it into a graveyard, which means that Helm's "X or a creature card" are never put into a graveyard. Therefore, this process is continued until their library is completely exiled.
      This Helm combo works with anything that puts things into exile *instead of* graveyards, like Leyline of thr Void.

    • @zstormw
      @zstormw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Helm puts cards from the library into the graveyard until X number of creatures hit the graveyard. Because of Rest in Peace, cards were never hitting the graveyard, they were going straight into exile. Since Helm keeps milling until X creatures hit the graveyard, it exiles the entire library.

    • @raser4329
      @raser4329 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because that's what the card says. The text reads as follows: "Tap, sacrifice Jeweled Lotus: Add three mana of any one color to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to cast your commander."

    • @johnnyhong2150
      @johnnyhong2150 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raser4329 I’ve tried to look up the ruling but some of the cedh gameplay where the player sac’d jeweled lotus only to cast a 4 cmc commander. But I’ve also watched casual edh where the player sac’d jeweled lotus and tapped 2 lands to cast a 5 cmc commander. Am I trippin’ or nah?

    • @raser4329
      @raser4329 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnnyhong2150 Just Google and read the card. You sacrifice it and it adds three of one color just for your commander. You can still use other mana sources in addition to it, but the Jeweled Lotus mana specifically is only for the commander. If you look up the card on Gatherer it will have any additional rulings.
