This makes sense. And well, it's probably for safety reasons too. Kids see someone dressed like or similar to their favorite character and walk off with them.
Just to add on if a kid sees a character swearing or yelling the kid could see "the good guy" as "a bad guy". I mean just imagine of when you were 5 you heard Cinderella dropping the Fbomb?
I get it but there is a 90% chance the characters wear more than one outfit in their movies and shows. For example Ariel wears her shell bra as a mermaid and several different dresses once she turns human.
prettyshamarlee word of advice. Go to one ride, one show, repeat, and once festivals come, attend. So you don’t get bored of just rides and same thing with shows :)
If you can afford it, I reccomend getting a line jumper pass ! Especially if your child is super young. It can be a long day waiting in line. Also bring a blanket to the park, for a midday nap! When I went to Disneyland Paris, this was a common practice among fellow park attendees. I hope you have the best time ❤️
I love watching Connie’s arc through this...I feel like there are a lot of people that look down on adults who like/go to/dress up in Disney, and I think Connie was skeptical too at first, but then she says...this kind of positivity is contagious. And these small moments of joy are needed! I was so glad to see how into she was at the end! Im planning on Disneybounding for the first time this summer and I can’t wait!
The title doesnt imply it was about the ban. The main focus is about the trend that was started because of it. Also use common sense or just google it. Adults are the ones who work as the characters at Disney. Its a whole thing there so it's obviously about children not getting confused and ruining the realness of the characters
Disney has a strict policy that there's only one Belle, one Cinderella, one of each character, to make them more alive. Even when you work there you can't say I was Cinderella, you have to say I was with or friends with Cinderella.
It's pretty obvious: they don't want anyone whose not on their payroll and bound by their rules of performing (remember, two performers of the same character can't be seen in the same areas of the park, they have very specific images they have to give, ect) to be confused for their actors.
I worked at Disney World in college and the primary reasons why they banned adults from wearing costumes in the park are pretty much: 1. They don’t want to ruin the “magic.” They want the face characters (especially the princesses) to look a particular way, sound a particular way, and act a particular way. The auditions and training just to play Cinderella is extensive. Everyone doesn’t look like a princess - sorry. If Random Rhonda just walked in the park trying to be Belle, and didn’t quite look the way Disney wanted her to or capture Belle’s characterization it would be a hot mess. 2. It’s not safe for you to dress up. If you pull off a pretty convincing Aurora and some creepy fan is obsessed with you, Disney doesn’t have your back. Security precautions are put in place to protect the actress who is paid to play Aurora, but if some creeper cornered you in the restroom with a chloroform towel...well oops. 3. It’s not safe for the guests. Let’s be real, some people are weird. Who knows? What if you pretend to be Pocahontas in an effort to assault children? Disney ain’t got time for that.
I just went to Disney World again this week with my family - 32 rides/events, 20 miles, 4 parks, 2 days! I didn't Disneybound but I loved seeing everyone's outfits in the parks! I did get teary eyed a few times because of all the love that goes into the parks so you can feel the magic x') as an engineer, it's also very fun to figure out how they make said magic happen xp
Considering he was a known anti-semite and probable racist, he probably wouldn't be too happy! I'm glad the company has made an effort to be more inclusive and accepting since Walt's passing :)
Megan Porten that is a myth and never proven. The biographer Neil Gabler states “that of Jews who worked at Disney, it was hard to find any who thought Walt was a anti-Semite”. He also wrote that Disney never publicly or privately made disparaging remarks about minorities or asserted white superiority.

Hellybelle tbh I think it should be fine if you dress up as a character that's not your race (unless it's someone like him crow). as long as you're not dressing up as a race you should be fine (i.e. dressing up as tiana vs. dressing up as a black person)
FYI“disneybound” isn’t new we’ve been doing this in Asia for years with anime and manga way before Cosplay became a trend because 20 or so years ago, there weren’t any shops selling anime or Disney costumes in Asia (limited to the stereotypical Halloween costumes), you style inspired clothes and wear that to work or school, or make clothes yourself. Japan has been doing this kind of lifestyle for at least 30 years. People would laugh back then, now it’s embraced. USA, you’ve just finally caught up!
Disney characters at the parks are heavily controlled. All of the characters have to learn each princess' mannerisms so they stay consistent no matter what, especially all the autographs. So if one child gets an autograph from one Belle and another from a different Belle, they still have the same signature because Disney has classes on how to be each princess. They speak and move in the same ways, etc.

I got to Disney due to my sister's make-a-wish trip. To my whole family... it was like a dream. Disney is a place to forget about everything else. In fact, our trip was scheduled a week before it closed due to Corona, so I'm so happy that was our last memory of large gatherings and social interaction!
My mother's favourite sweater is striped like the Cheshire cat, same colours and all. But she has never seen Alice in Wonderland. She is accidentally Disney-bounding.
Disneyland/World don’t like people dressing up because people and other cast members could mistake those people for cast members. Also I love how you say Disney World but go to Disneyland.
Short answer: so that children and others don’t mistake them for the real thing and so the adult dressing up doesn’t misrepresent the character they look like
I love Disney Bounding so much and I’m very inspired by all the people in this video! I’m glad someone has brought up this topic because it has become such a big thing, I think it’s amazing!
They just don't want you dressing too much like the characters cuz then kids will confuse you with the Park characters. The children are allowed to dress up as the characters though as long as they're under a certain age. Makes sense when you think about it.
I just got back from Disneyland, CA as well. I needed the escapism and quite frankly there really is no replacement for the feeling you get from being there. It really is the happiest place on earth...everyone is smiling and every little detail is considered and people work damn hard there and it creates a bunch of employment. I can see how people get obsessed with the experience.
Pretty sure it isn’t, I’ve heard horror stories and story times of people who used to work at Disney. I’m sure there’s more behind the scenes and isn’t that great when you’re the one working there and isn’t visiting.
Watching this brought me to tears. I haven’t watched an actual Disney movie in my life ever. I’d just never get the opportunity to do so but I know how things go through watching spoilers actually. I honestly never watch movies, just watch spoilers or reviews on TH-cam to catch up with the people. And I’m going to finish high school next year but I feel like my life has already hit rock bottom.

The video didn't answer why DisneyWorld actually bans adults from dressing up?? More like "How DisneyBounding bonds people"
kimbaponigiri they don’t want people/kids mistaking them for actual characters. Especially since their characters have a contract to maintain the illusion and be “innocent”. So if a kid sees an adult dressed up as a character and they’re doing something un-Disney, it ruins the illusion/reputation of the character. Hope that helps !
lmao ya i realised
kimbaponigiri it’s a security thing. They don’t want kids going up to or following non-cast members.
kimbaponigiri based on their guidelines my guess is safety. disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/parks/dress/
@DearMe217 It's not banned year round. Adults can cosplay during events like Halloween, but that's about it.
I must admit. I went to Tokyo Disney's Halloween event when I lived in Japan and it was REALLY difficult to tell the different between the cast members and guests. Some guests were just that GOOD. Plus, since it was Japan, they didn't mind taking photos with strangers.
I’m so nailing my favorite character Dumbo. Thank you quarantine.
😂😂😂 Good one

They tried to trademark day of the dead?!
Yeah that's messed up it's a holiday that us Mexicans have had for thousand of years. It has a meaning to where we come from. And then Disney tries to take that away. Like I can't even-
Yep but way before coco was actually released. They weren't allowed so the kid from coco became the star of the movie
The way to support P.O.Cs, LGBTQ youth, and people of diverse mental spectrum, is not to try to own or appropriate the lives and cultural of the people it really affects. Hands off my Holidays.
@@pwuddingchan i don't think Disney tries to "take it away", i think it's good that other people who go to Epcot learn something new about a country they've never been to or don't know much about it.

I went to Disneyland this week for the first time ever, as a 25 year old, and felt so embraced by the warmth of all the characters and even fellow attendees-and it was raining! Never considered myself a hardcore Disney fan, but have been floating on a bit of a cloud since. This episode totally captures that sense of community the Disney brand has revolutionized. I went to Disneyland for the first time in 2012, I was 48. Let me tell you, after years of watching It's a Wonderful World of Disney and jonesing to go The Park I was like a little kid again. Walking in the same places as Walt himself was amazing. I love that Disneyland is small and quaint, it's just a perfect place to be.
I am angry with Disney for trying to trademark Day of the Dead, that's shady AF, OTHER THAN THAT I'm usually a fan of anything Disney #Ibelieveinmagic
If you dig just a little deeper you might find a whole lot of things to be angry about Disney and their shadiness.
What does trademark mean. Does it mean they trued to own Day Of The Dead?
@@bhr113 yes, not let anyone else use the name lmaoooo
@@bhr113 trademarks have to be filed for specific categories, so you might find two separate companies trademarking the same word or phrase but in different categories. An article I read said Disney was trying to trade mark the words "Dia de los Muertos" or "Day of the Dead" on items like fruits, fruit snacks, toys, games, clothing, footwear, backpacks, clocks and jewelry. Sure it may have "only" been for copyrighting merchandise for the movie, but then it could have also been an easy way for them to copyright claim against anyone just making shirts or anything that say "Day of the Dead"
@@tfeya777 Yea, I work for a major university and Disney showcased one of our inventions without permission or acknowledgment, and made it appear as if it was their own technology. I feel like that’s so many American immigrants. My Gran immigrated from Scotland and she used to take us to Highland festivals to immerse us in our ancestral culture but Americans always asked where she was from. When family from Scotland visited her in America they would make fun of her accent and say she was “too Americanized.” She eventually developed Alzheimer’s disease and couldn’t remember immigrating so she would scream and cry and ask why she wasn’t in Scotland.

I like the newer title, since the video is actually about Disney-bounding and doesn't really touch on the *why* of the costume ban.
so I'm guessing there has been 3 title changes?
Wow, I didn't notice these changes at all, but the title as it stands now (banning adults from dressing up) doesn't really match the video (Disney bounding)

What makes Disney bound so great is you don't need to buy a lot you should be able to take any clothes and make it look like a character.
If she spent 30 dollars and she actually bought 500 ears she would had spent about 15,000 dollars on ears
Emily's Way she makes her own since most of them are customs
At first, I didn’t like the tone of this video because it sounded demeaning but I liked the ending a lot. For many Disneybounders and Disney hardcore fans, we love Disney because it reminds us to play, believe in magic, and have hope. It reminds us how to be a kid again and also not forget it. Besides taking us away from the real world for a day, it also teaches us how to go back and make the world better, little by little. And sometimes it’s that little bit of hope that gets a dream started. So I’m glad this video is out there :)

This makes sense. And well, it's probably for safety reasons too. Kids see someone dressed like or similar to their favorite character and walk off with them.

Drue Jackson hits cause they can’t have kids running up to random adults, who disney can’t control what they say so they can’t control the character
You should watch sarah's video instead for deeper info (sarah sterling)
Do you think there's such a thing as Ghibli bounding? I always wanted to bound as Princess Mononoke.

I worked at Disney World in college and the primary reasons why they banned adults from wearing costumes in the park are pretty much:

Hello Old friend He at least got to see a bit of his empire, that’s what’s nice is that he was already impacting the world back then.
He would have said "what took you so long"
Considering he was a known anti-semite and probable racist, he probably wouldn't be too happy!
Macgyrl64 No, it isn’t a myth. Like Disney was known for being a bigot.

I just became an annual passholder and I love the idea of planning out cute outfits everytime I go, it's part of the experience ☺️💓
