Bro I'm a genji main like u and I mean u cannot tilt cuz counter swaps is the mean of the game. And mei Is an absolute counter but If u master genji well brig sym and Moira cannot counter u
Two things I'd recommend. First is learning more when to left click instead of right click. There was a bunch of times where you just kept spamming right clicks from a good distance away trying to hit a single target. Second thing was there was like two cases you ran at them when you pressed Q, generally you want to dash to high ground or just in the air so you can then dash and slash downwards at your victims with them having a limited amount of time to react to your multiple changes in location. It also makes it easier for Ana to nano you since you are above everything.
I actually enjoy when people counterswap for my Genji. It lets me practice against it... unless they're gods with that hero and I just get shit on. In Diamond 3 and I can usually play around my counters up to a certain point. Like when there's a Mei, Moira, and Zarya it becomes a struggle bus. But 1 or 2 is doable, so long as my healers are attentive. Usually I counterswap myself though unless I get real petty about it.
I totally feel this. A mei and Moira combo really isn't that bad. But when it's mei, echo, brig, and Moira I will admit that it's not worth playing into anymore. When the whole team sucks to play neutral against and there's only 1 decent blade target, I'm going to start considering other options. Fortunately I used to main Cass who is much more fun against the comps that are tough for genji
Someone good a Genji at low levels can be incredibly tilting. Switching to shut them down just makes a lot of sense, in that context. And, as emongg said, it was just a good comp in general for the map. The heroes worked well together
Average Genji needing nano to do an opener lmao. I think tank was the reason they were switching as said in the video. There were some good Genji moments too, but a lot of hesitation when his team wasn't around.
Only problem is that, here, the swaps to "counter" were done at the top of the round, not mid round. So ult reset meant nothing in terms of what the genji was doing.@@dr.ibrayt9395

@@dr.ibrayt9395 The reason why that doesn't happen is because the game *wants* you to play multiple heros. You're literally not supposed to one trick a character. And people complaining about others swapping in order to win is just a completely different level of mental gymnastics. I agree that the rock, paper, scissors shit is boring, but that isn't even happening here or in 99% of games. It happens in high ranks. The *majority* of players are in Gold and it isn't happening there, so let's all chill a bit.

some funny fact is that the time that the enemy team first swapped, there was no projectile that genji could reflect (excluding mei's and symmetra's projectile)
Here’s a truth that’s hard to swallow: if you’re stuck in a rank it’s not your teammates that are the issue or the game, it’s because you’re doing something consistently wrong. Either brain or aim, or both.
This Genji's poor cooldown management/ positioning was his really biggest enemy. Sweet jesus. When you're your real own biggest enemy lol! - Masters PC Genji main myself. So it was pretty funny watching this one. And no one needs to talk to the enemy team this often or at all while the game is going on. They aren't your girlfriend..... This was certainly quite the laugh! I felt like I was watching a Console player who had their sticks gummed up or something. haha. Especially Spamming RMB (fan) from the distance he was. Yes it has a faster rate of fire. But get accustomed to shooting left clicks and hitting them. Big Oof's. You're the common denominator in every game you play. Dont blame your team or counter swaps. Those are only a crutch for Genji's who haven't spent the time to watch for enemy cooldowns for prime time to strike or haven't spent ample time working on their own positioning, situational awareness and brushing up on their own mechanics.

Surprisingly blue swapped a lot more even tho they could have stuck with 2 round comp and easily won. If there was a cd to swapping at most would have affect end of round 1 or the dps that kept swapping in round 2. The game description felt like a fly think "that guy owns a gun clearly because of me".
6:27 do they know they have to aim their deflect several times watching their deflect it seems to be aimed in the general direction but not really at anyone in particular.
To the Genji's credit, LE-ZZZZ swapped like 72 times. It probably felt like counter swaps, plus tank kind of felt like a counter swap at times. May have been coincidence but at the same time, Genji hard carried the first round, when that happens to me my usual response is "Everyone shut down this person and we win" and so we counter swap and we win
Ive mained alot of heros throughout my time in the game, but rn im maining genji. And imo if your a good genji then beams are never an issue. If you play out of their range for one and never try to duel them without the support of either one of your supports or majority of your team then it will all work out. If you just dive in and expect to get out as easily as you went in then your just stupid. Now a frontline sombra can be a pretty big issue especially if your hacked mid deflect which is one of the situations im trying to get better at handling. However a sombra thats attacking your backline is something i hope to fight bc i can peel for my supports and help get a free kill. And sometimes when i dash in i end up taking the virus for my support so they can focus on hitting their shots bc they arent gonna get brought down to 80 in half a second. And even if the sombra runs i get healed back to full and we do it all over again. Basically she just feeds us ult charge until we kill her.
Interesting concept Counter swap cooldown, maybe you should try some of the viewer suggestions to make the game more fair to see if it has some truth it.
This man is mad that the opposing team refused to commit to insanity and run the same comp. What were they suppose to do? Force the same thing that got them rolled and call GG? Also no off angles, no attempts to target supports, wants to shoot rein shield. What a baby honestly
My general idea is that swapping to a different hero will cost an ult charge. Why not have a steady ult charge and act as an economy. Unless you have x% of ult charge, you ca not swap until you have that amount
Counter swapping is always a problem in Overwatch and often times better to do than just "playing better". But as long as its there, you cannot expect people not to do it because you can do so as well.
As a Genji main myself, I can understand this guy's frustration. However, it nearly always comes down to mechanical errors or common sense issues...for me, at least. I know that I'm awful at the hero, but I don't mind because I love playing him so much. And while counters like mei, sym, and moira are cringe and awful to play against, it is the most rewarding thing in the world when you can adjust your playstyle and carefully manipulate the enemy team into making a mistake, or playing around their cooldowns, or positioning yourself safely. And when you win games like that, against heroes that seem tailor-made to stop you from getting value, it is literally one of the best feelings in the world.
Counterswapping is a problem not in a sense that when nothing is working against a certain team comp, but when someone swaps just because your on a certain hero 2 minutes in
Counterswapping is the essence of the game In Overwatch you're not just playing a character, you're playing a whole role. If you can't adapt, that's on you.
i feel like ow needs to like. have a lock in system like leauge. you lock in, stay with that hero the whole game, and if you used that system you could also block 1 hero from each team 👀 that's pretty neat to me.
PSA: it’s only a counterswap if the person that swapped deliberately targets you when they can, if they’re consistently ignoring you for other targets that matter more to the team as a whole, it was a smart play.
While it's always interesting and educational to watch these game play reviews I wonder why wanted to watch this vod when you can tell from the description dude is just mad cause they played better.
I mean you have to admit, that the enemy team is silver and they were not likely thinking "what is a good comp on this specific map on attack" when their defense comp was a bit interesting to say the least. Do i think they all swapped to counter the genji probably not all of them. However lets be real here, if you have two good genji blades and the enemy team walks out on 3 people who kill you through deflect and a brig your going to assume they swapped to kill you especially in lower ranks where people forever think genji is broken.
Counter swapping has its perks i usually pick my hero and run with it myself but i also never play comp because well blizard broke the whole system there. Cant wait to get back to the old system so i can finnaly figure out my honest rank
idk why people hate counterswap maybe its because i play support and dont usually have to deal with it (besides with ana) but its just a vital part of the game no?
Aa much as it feels like it sometimes, genji doesnt really have hard counters. I'm thankful for my low rank cause i get to get plenty of practice against different heroes 1tricked as genji and not face as many consequences. As long as I can still get value, i'm chilling.
Definition of a once trick. When you watch the Genji play you can see there is potential for a higher rank. But then when you watch the 76 play you wonder how they got to the rank they are at. I play in mid bronze and there is a Genji that plays during my hours and he is pretty good. Not omg amazing he is a smurf but better than your average bronze. Reminds me of the guy in the vid. One game, when he was on my team, I asked him how he is still stuck in bronze. They told me they play nothing but Genji and getting counter picked was a huge part of it. And I see other regulars, that usually play one character all the time. Also, as a bronze connoisseur, that 76 play would not yield you bronze 4. I'd keep that in your back pocket and lose the pants.
IDK why anyone would be upset getting counter swapped.. especially if its multiple characters.. that means that enough of the team has identified you as a threat and is changing their play style to play against YOU.. meaning you have now taken focus off of the other 4 members of your team.. How is that not a positive?
because then you have to depend on those 4 members to actually make a good play or hit their shots and in low ranks, thats not really something you should rely on
but tbh, they should add like a limit to how many times you can swap or make so each time you swap you keep less ult charge until you keep 0 at like 5+ swaps, because at gold for example there are some guy thinking they are playing mystery heroes
Either swapping whenever you want is a thing, or you pick your hero and you that's that. It's part of the game's identity or we remove it entirely. Once you put restrictions on it, eventually it will just be removed.
As a genji main I don't have a problem dealing with most counterpicks but it really just brings up the question "when EVERY character counters someone why counterpick?" Playing against genji is diabolicallly easy I played some kiri last night after playing genji all day and did better with kiri than genji by just existing
you either installed OW yesterday or you're trolling, but just incase you are not, counter swapping is switching off your current hero to another one that by the nature of their kit have an easier time dealing with the enemy, so if you are on Ana and there is a really good genji against you, you need good positioning, really good aim, and the skill to land one of the harder abilities (the sleep dart), which genji can deflect back. or you can swap to moira a hero that doesn't require intense aiming, a hero that can damage genji through his deflect which also heals you, you can get away with sloppy positioning because your fade ability makes invisible and invulnerable and gives you increased movement speed and jumping height for its breif duration, your ultimate gives you movement speed increased healing and also can go through his deflect, as for the skill orbs that can be deflected if they are thrown directly at the genji, which is rather avoidable since they bounce off walls, the healing orb will make it very hard to win in a 1v1 since moira also heals from her primary fire not to mention that the support passive health regen will kick in if moira is not damaged, which is likely since she can fade mid 1v1. if anything the genji now needs to be careful since if dashes into a moira he is unlikly to win the 1v1 (in most ranks below diamond at least) since she has so much healing, he also needs to be careful because if he is separated, since even if he dashes away, she can catch up to him with her fade. as for this video, the enemy team started with a moira that is a counter to genji, that moira wasn't counter swapping . . .
Hey i played ranked for the first time and i am in plat 5 for healer and gold 1 for damage dealer us there something i can do to decrease my rank because i can do absolutely nothing when im playing healer in plat
"Add a cooldown to counterswapping!" Doesn't realize that they only picked those heroes at the top of the round when you'd be able to freely swap your heroes anyway.
until recently I was a pretty hard onetrick dva. I get the frustration, and it sucks hard to be met with a zarya, brig, echo, mei, moira situation EVERY single game after the first team fight He's being a bit dramatic, but it's a fair criticism to say that the rock paper scissors game of counter swapping is pretty out of hand.

Genji determined to stand in front of their own tank all game
Someone good a Genji at low levels can be incredibly tilting. Switching to shut them down just makes a lot of sense, in that context.
And, as emongg said, it was just a good comp in general for the map. The heroes worked well together
ALRIGHT SO!
We love a silver genji
there was no counter swap, just skill issues
They really love standing and jumping around in the open dont they
Average Genji needing nano to do an opener lmao. I think tank was the reason they were switching as said in the video. There were some good Genji moments too, but a lot of hesitation when his team wasn't around.
I'm here to watch a Genji player suffer. 👍
my team did that to a genji once he got mad about counters and we all just swapped to counter him for the entire match
Tbf if the enemies counter swapped you, it means you're doing a great job and they're respecting it.
True, however one thing they should do is reset ult charger to zero whenever someone swaps.
Only problem is that, here, the swaps to "counter" were done at the top of the round, not mid round. So ult reset meant nothing in terms of what the genji was doing.@@dr.ibrayt9395
No. Sometimes you can be trash and people still counter swap.
@@KianaKaslana366No this is true I get games rarely like this I'm the least effective on my team and I'm just kind of chilling around them and yet everyone on The enemy team just keeps counter swapping characters that are only good against my character but it's like I mean okay My team is still rolling you I'm not the issue you have to deal with
@@dr.ibrayt9395 The reason why that doesn't happen is because the game *wants* you to play multiple heros. You're literally not supposed to one trick a character.
I love to one trick Widow or Ashe, but sometimes you simply have to swallow that pride and play someone else if it ain't working. It's not your opponents job to make sure you are having fun...
I mean it sounds like he should've switched lmao
i feel that half of the complaints about counterswapping is just one tricks complaining because they have to learn another hero
People have zero accountability in a skill based game. It’s exhausting knowing that you expect ME to feed YOUR kd
Genji's when they can't deflect flails, ice, a giant rocket powered hammer, life sapping energy or hard light: REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
Love that he pops soldier ult and ignores the fact that there's a mei chilling behind him like she just dies as soon as he looks away this is so common it's annoying 😭
genji one trick mad he got countered, tell me you are an ego andy without telling me you are an ego andy
some funny fact is that the time that the enemy team first swapped, there was no projectile that genji could reflect (excluding mei's and symmetra's projectile)
since they had lazers that genji cant reflect like moira, mei and symmetra, and hammer swings like reinhardt or briggrett
Prime of a genji player who oesnt know who to adapt
As soon as I seen that he was using alternate fire at medium range I knew he was gargar.
These Genji players can only play the game when everything is in their advantages
Here’s a truth that’s hard to swallow: if you’re stuck in a rank it’s not your teammates that are the issue or the game, it’s because you’re doing something consistently wrong. Either brain or aim, or both.
spoiler : usually it's not the aim
Is countering illegal now?
"Nooooo don't counter meee, just let me slaughter your team with 0 resistance!!! 🤬"
nah it just deletes some of the fun
10:19 the mini high ground to the right in kings row last point is underrated and people should definitely use it more
this dude didn't dodge a single fire strike there

This was a quick rewatch so I might have miss some.
Sure swapping to mei or sym could be considered counter but I argue they just got rolled and decided to play "meta"
6:27 do they know they have to aim their deflect several times watching their deflect it seems to be aimed in the general direction but not really at anyone in particular.
Rein 76, reporting for duty
To the Genji's credit, LE-ZZZZ swapped like 72 times. It probably felt like counter swaps, plus tank kind of felt like a counter swap at times. May have been coincidence but at the same time, Genji hard carried the first round, when that happens to me my usual response is "Everyone shut down this person and we win" and so we counter swap and we win
Everyone talking about LeZZy and K9 Man but no one noticed SCP 6000 playing Hanzo?
9:03 Sully visiting Emongg while my cat Daisy was also visiting me in the same way
I swear Genji is right behind mercy when it's comes to funniest overwatch content tier list 😂😂
0:55 I thought he was supposed to be the nice one and flats was the bully?😂
I think they waited because they were waiting for the nano so they didn't die right away.
But as long as its there, you cannot expect people not to do it because you can do so as well.
as a genji main when someone counters me i just swap to another hero its not that hard
Counterswapping is a problem not in a sense that when nothing is working against a certain team comp, but when someone swaps just because your on a certain hero 2 minutes in
Counterswapping is the essence of the game
In Overwatch you're not just playing a character, you're playing a whole role.
Just let the man farm content
@@l0kpcr397 I watched it didn't I?
People who play genji don’t deserve to complain
At 15:02, well, to be fair, they didn't use tire because they didnt have it till after they lost
How would you even enforce a cooldown on counter swapping? Like, put a cooldown on the ability to change your characters mid match?
Dude ran genji from the start vs Moira, mei/torb, as well as Hanzo.
I mean you have to admit, that the enemy team is silver and they were not likely thinking "what is a good comp on this specific map on attack" when their defense comp was a bit interesting to say the least. Do i think they all swapped to counter the genji probably not all of them. However lets be real here, if you have two good genji blades and the enemy team walks out on 3 people who kill you through deflect and a brig your going to assume they swapped to kill you especially in lower ranks where people forever think genji is broken.
this video summarizes every one trick genji player. Can't do anything except play genji lol
sym moira and mei all counter genji what are y’all talking about ☠️
Emongg channeled his inner mickey mouse with that oh no 😂 I love it
genji players should learn pharah because she pretty much counters every hero that counters him.
If counterswappe give you cooldown, they will have to buff ult reverse charge when swapping heroes again
i dont know what it is about firestrike, it draws you in to jump in front of it
Counter swapping has its perks i usually pick my hero and run with it myself but i also never play comp because well blizard broke the whole system there. Cant wait to get back to the old system so i can finnaly figure out my honest rank
Most my genji games are like this I dominate them then get scared in a second half
Peace be upon you. ^w^
Why does emongg sound like weird al yankovic if he played overwatch
Counter swapping is an exhausting aspect to this game, sometimes I just wanna play one hero and have the option to swap if need be
So just play the hero you want to play?
You just described counter swapping
idk why people hate counterswap maybe its because i play support and dont usually have to deal with it (besides with ana) but its just a vital part of the game no?
Yes, it is part of the strategic layer of the game.
As a genji player it someone counter swaps I take it as a compliment
My main takeaway from this was that this is a surprisingly good Genji. I honestly have seen worse Genjis in Gold xD
Can’t wait for Bingo Friday tomorrow!
I'm not hip on the lingo, is counter swapping something to do with skill orbs because that seemed to be the killer
you either installed OW yesterday or you're trolling, but just incase you are not, counter swapping is switching off your current hero to another one that by the nature of their kit have an easier time dealing with the enemy, so if you are on Ana and there is a really good genji against you, you need good positioning, really good aim, and the skill to land one of the harder abilities (the sleep dart), which genji can deflect back. or you can swap to moira a hero that doesn't require intense aiming, a hero that can damage genji through his deflect which also heals you, you can get away with sloppy positioning because your fade ability makes invisible and invulnerable and gives you increased movement speed and jumping height for its breif duration, your ultimate gives you movement speed increased healing and also can go through his deflect, as for the skill orbs that can be deflected if they are thrown directly at the genji, which is rather avoidable since they bounce off walls, the healing orb will make it very hard to win in a 1v1 since moira also heals from her primary fire not to mention that the support passive health regen will kick in if moira is not damaged, which is likely since she can fade mid 1v1. if anything the genji now needs to be careful since if dashes into a moira he is unlikly to win the 1v1 (in most ranks below diamond at least) since she has so much healing, he also needs to be careful because if he is separated, since even if he dashes away, she can catch up to him with her fade.
as for this video, the enemy team started with a moira that is a counter to genji, that moira wasn't counter swapping . . .
@@JohnJohn-lj5cn it was a snark
He had zero thoughts regarding avoiding dmg, I feel like he intentionally jumped into abilities, like genji deflect it if your gonna run into it?
counter swap CD is a legit thing tbh it is a good idea
On such a backlog that Overwatch 3 has been released and it's back to 6v6 and lootboxes
Sounds like me when I play doom, genji, hanzo, or any skillful character lol
Part of me feels like I've played this game and I don't know why.
in silver no one counter swaps the DPS
if anyone gets counter swapped, it'll be the tank
When nano blade gets a team kill 😱
Hey i played ranked for the first time and i am in plat 5 for healer and gold 1 for damage dealer us there something i can do to decrease my rank because i can do absolutely nothing when im playing healer in plat
I mean, I main sombra so whenever they go monkey or torb to spy check I would go junk (my second fave) either way i’m still a rat😊
I'll meet you half way: if switching heroes should have a cooldown, playing heroes should have a time limit
"Add a cooldown to counterswapping!" Doesn't realize that they only picked those heroes at the top of the round when you'd be able to freely swap your heroes anyway.
We got a Right Click Randy!!!
until recently I was a pretty hard onetrick dva. I get the frustration, and it sucks hard to be met with a zarya, brig, echo, mei, moira situation EVERY single game after the first team fight He's being a bit dramatic, but it's a fair criticism to say that the rock paper scissors game of counter swapping is pretty out of hand.
