    Personally, the ultra-lite has held up surprisingly well. But y’all sure need a sturdier rig going forward. Be sure to choose a 5er that is full time rated. We have the Jayco Northpoint 377 (mid-bunk and a loft easily sleeps 7) Negative is a larger rig is you’ll likely have to upgrade the truck to a 3500 (one ton) to pull the larger rig. Good luck and stay safe with y’all’s travels

    My slide has done exactly the same thing, but while I tried to fix it, the wall came apart! (The wall was a manufacturing defect. The weld that held the stud on was damaged during assembly.) I ended up jacking up the slide on the outside to get it to suck the bottom in to adjust it to almost perfect. I haven’t traveled with it since this last adjustment, but it’s better that is has been.

    My husband and I both think that this is probably one of the very best videos anyone has ever done on full time RV living.....talk about keeping it real! We loved that you really showed the wear and tear that rigs go through when they are lived in full time. Thanks for not trying to be the "pinterest perfect queen". Also wanted to shout out to John for the incredibly difficult job he is doing right now. Our daughter in law was 33 weeks pregnant, got covid, had an emergency C- section and has been in the ICU for 13 days on a vent. I spend 5-7 hours with her everyday. Many of the nurses are travel nurses. I see how incredibly hard all of the nurses are working. Covid is beyond horrible.

    Ok…..allow me to tell you so much stuff!
    Words can not express how GLAD I am that I came across your video. This is actually the second one I’ve seen. The first was yesterday on Travel nurses and key things to be aware of. Thank you John and I will definitely reach out. Kristen, this has been the most amazing, authentic, and raw video I have come across regarding RV life!!!! I LOVED IT!! I’ve been a nurse for 22yrs (the hubby been in the field too). We have a 10yr and 12yr old and have been seriously considering travel nursing, but have been a little scared about it. Also, no one really (or at least I haven’t come across one), has made a video like yours. It really gives us clear, realistic perspective on what it’s like. Thank you so much for creating that video. I haven’t had a chance to reach out to John about travel nursing, but I will. Will definitely keep an eye out for your new video regarding the new RV purchase. My husband and I know NOTHING about RV, except we’re dying to do it!!! Again, thank you. Sorry for the long feedback, but you guys deserve it…🙌🏼….oh btw, I am Esther and my husband is Mike nice meeting you guys!! 🤗🤗

      We are so glad you found our channel. And we're glad you enjoy our real life even though it's messy. We just gotta live our lives and make it ok to show what it's really like. We are just an ordinary family trying to do something totally unordinary and help others do the same. Our boys are 10 and 12 also. You got this. It doesn't have to be perfect. You'll learn as you go.😉❤

      @@estherdelarosa9016 Homeschooling is a call and if you and your family feel like this is the time, it is NO better TIME to do it than now. There are many homeschooling companies online as well. But maybe both of you take turns working in an area. Your or DH work one job and then the next job the other work, that way you can be home with the girls and make sure you have those connections. Everyday Saturday is another travel nurse, however, they are on the move. th-cam.com/video/CZyFDsJ0rRM/w-d-xo.html Blessings to whatever you decide. I must be ready for living for the outside and not the inside because I wasn't scared off at all. I figured we'd (meaning me) would take one for the team and paint all the walls before we move in but now I am thinking I need to change my perspective and let it not matter so much. Same thing for how much stuff we bring in. They are way more than what we initially looked at but we are seriously considering a ORV; 26 or 28 ft. bunkhouse plan. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's! I hope the campground has fabulous shower facilities.

    As KYD said. Start small, start now. Get what works, learn, grow. I am very surprised that that travel trailer has lasted so long with so many people/miles/days of living full time. That speaks volumes for that make and model. Good luck with your search for a new rv and tow vehicle. It can be very frustrating trying to find a perfect floor plan with all of the features for everyone in the family.

My trailer has held up pretty good but I definelt wouldn't get an ultralight again or a slide with cables. I agree with you on that. These trailers are not built to really live full time in.

    We gave up a long time ago trying to share a big blanket/comforter. We each have our own and we each have a few pillows that's just how we sleep. Besides my wife's a blanket hog so I have to have my own blanket! Plus, she gets hot all the time so why is she a blanket hog in the first place? Who knows! So just give up and embrace (so to speak) having separate blankets, sheets, pillows etc. We don't try to conform to the world, the world should conform to us! ;-) Merry Christmas!

    In September we were out in the RV and the main awning suffered damage from a microburst. Parts are on backorder. We go full time the day after Christmas and we're still waiting on parts. We have to come back to the home base in February for a week when all the parts are due, then we start making our way to Arizona. We have a 37 ft 5th wheel, 311BHS, and it's just the 2 of us with 4 Yorkies. I would like to get a Momentum and make the garage our living room (it'll give me an excuse to upgrade the truck to a dually) :)

    Well there is so much I could say! I have had RV's for over 30 years. We just sold a 1992 Bounder that looked like brand new inside. We had our 2 kids finish growing up in it and then grandchildren but nothing was abused. You set the example for your kids on how you respect other people's property and your own. And then just my opinion but he drives too fast with that trailer. It's been beat to death! You have to slow down over bumps etc, and then doors and furniture won't end up at the other end of the trailer. Don't buy Grand Design as they fall apart just as easy as the trailer $50,000 less.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hmm thank you for watching and for your comment. You are right, we do beat up our stuff. We take it on wild adventures and we aren't upset about it. I'm glad yours has held up so long. We for sure bought the wrong kind of RV for the type of rving we later learned that we love the most. We just didn't know it at the time but we made it work. We all travel differently and respectfully it sounds like A) you didn't raise young kids in yours B) You didn't have an ultralite trailer C) You had an older model that was made well D) How on earth can you tell how fast we drive? I speed a lot of clips up in post edit.
      As for our kids, they are just that. Kids. While they sometimes destroy things, it's rarely on purpose. We set the example that things are NEVER as important as people or family or memories. They are incredibly respectful to people of all different ages, lifestyles, and cultures. The price we paid for any damage to our RV is worth EVERY SINGLE MEMORY.

    I tried to get my axle repaired or replaced in Tucson but it’s several weeks wait. I just replaced two tires and I’ll do a bunch of suspension work when I get home.
    Do be surprised if you spend over $100,000.00 for a fifth wheel that you won’t have many of the same issues. They just don’t hold up.

    You shouldn't lump all ultralites in the same category. You bought a low cost rv from keystone and it's falling apart. That's not surprising. Obviously full time living is hard on any rv but when you start cheap don't expect things to last. In your next rv look for rack and pinion slides, cables suck. If you're sick of fixing your suspension look for torsion axles. No rv is perfect but you'll do yourself a big favor by buying good quality to start with.
