- There is nothing like listening to "Fred Bear" by Ted Nugent at camp around a campfire while on a hunting trip. Fred Bear was a legend in the archery world. It's not a Passion. It's an Obsession.

My dad passed away today and this was his favorite song. RIP Dad, Love you
I am sorry for your loss. I feel my Dad every time I listen to this song.
My nephew passed away 12 years ago today, 03-17-2012, and this was his favorite song. His son blessed our family with a baby boy last year, and his nickname is Bear.
Until we meet again, BIG BEAR
REST PEACEFULLY IN PARADISE AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON YOU. WARMEST MEMORIES OF YOU.❤❌️⭕️☘️
So sorry for your loss. This is my favorite all time song. Reminds me of camping in Baraboo, Wisconsin
In the wind, he's still alive ❤
Your Dad died today and youre commenting on you tube...bullshit...I was crying my eyes out ...fuck commenting on you tube...
One of the best hunting songs ever made one of my favorites love it!!! 💖🏹🦌🎤🎶💯👍
Awsome song
I'm a pacifist and long term vegetarian. But God bless the true hunters who love life, Nature and this Earth. Who follow laws, respect the animals and eat what they kill. I love this song.
Thank you
Honestly, I didn't give a crap about our planet until I became a hunter in my early 20s. I lived in Michigan and didn't come from a family of hunters or know anyone who was willing to teach me. Eventually my future brother-in-law taught me how to shoot a bow and I went with him hunting. I got a buck my first year (and haven't gotten one since lol). Being said, it makes me so happy sitting in the woods. I love watching turkeys walking in a line, seeing a fox running away with a mouse in its mouth, and even the morning sun beams shining through the trees on a crisp morning. I adore the smell of autumn. It makes me feel alive and at peace with the world. It sounds cliche, but I feel connected with our planet. I'm a disabled veteran now, and hunting has saved my life. It sounds rediculous, but hunting isn't just about killing. It's the experience. It's the camaraderie. It's about the soul.
I went from being a selfish jerk who only cared about myself go being an activist. I donate to Pheasants Forever and even drive an electric car. I won't even drop a straw wrapper because I'm so against littering. I want to leave the world even more beautiful than before.
Good from you,and you are even more.
It could have many meanings... I relate it to a time as a very young (and stupid) adult when I went off-roading and many miles into our excursion I misjudged a turn and I wrecked, rendering my ride underivable. My buddy, a Native American (as well versed in the area as I - not at all) took charge and directed us to safety by the stars and whatever else was natural and intuitive. Later he revealed that he didn't know how, what or why he did what he did but was somehow guided. This from a guy that topped out with Basic Math in HS.... Reading the stars with no study of astrology. That's Fred Bear Magic my friends! Thanks Auggie, my Pomo friend for life, for getting me home safely.
@@mikeanderson8939 Pomo town or Native American Nation?
Ted, this is the absolute best version of Fred Bear I have ever seen. Totally from the heart. You can feel your connection with Fred. He was so cool. He IS still alive!
Nugent is a spoiled asshole. You know it but are too much of a sally boy to say so.
Northern Michigan Hunter here.
Just….beautiful!
The city is the jungle!!!! In the wild is heaven. There is nothing like being in the wild!!!! Just you and nature
I have personally met this man. He is an outstanding fellow. Nuff said here.
I have also Mike. He is kind and generous. Hater are just going to hate.
I would LOVE to have the chance to meet him in person (and wouldn’t mind getting to go hunting with him, of course!)
Ted is an awesome guy. He used to come into Schupbach's and talk with Brian Schupbach & Gordan Hubbard(R.I.P) when every he was in town.Ted talked about Gordy often in his shows, he was a great man to have known. Brian, Ted & Gordy had been friends for a long time. Unfortunately, Gordy passed away 04/24/2015 of cancer. All three were and are great people.
Can't wait to meet him in August it's going to be so fucking awesome
Oh hell yeah it was! One of the best days of my life
Me too. Down to earth cat he is.
My grandfather shot national archery tournys.. He always got 2nd place to fred.. Fred took my grandfather to his factory of bows.. he gave my grand father Philip Fawver a hand made brass bound bow. this was in the 1950's. I still have that Bow..Grizzly it says. My grandmother was the first woman to shoot a deer with a bow in stephenson county.
David Cox that's so badass
David! I am a expert long bow. Moreless indian....Do you want to fight??????????????????????? I want your American Indian
All bullshit
Wow!! Crazy
I lost my Brother Steve W we did a lot of hunting in Northern Michigan woods together i still feel him in the wind when
I hunt...its like hes beside me .....love this song...i think of it on opening day .....its engraved in my blind....forever in the wind.... Miss you bro!
+Tim Boedecker From Warren? If so, I lost the same brother.
Keep hunting and good luck and life to you, hi from Italy.
God bless Tim, a fellow Michigan Brother
Not sure why people look for a video of someone they don't like. just so they can complain. proves how bad a life they have. It's really kinda sad
TheCrashdawg that is very true
Not entirely true...i will always love his music. However, his politics are abhorrent at best and fascist at most.
@@agentofkarma666 You couldn't define fascism let alone identify it.
@@agentofkarma666 I do not vote, have no political affiliation so that makes it so I can listen to all points of view. And I am a living historian of this stuff at 71 years old.
According to what Ted's views are in politics is this. KEEP government out of my life. As long as I am not hurting anyone else by my actions leave me alone to my life and let me be free. Also, he believes in law and order. If you do something that harms others, you need to be punished for it and learn not to harm others. That is at the foundation of Ted's communications ALL THE TIME.
I don't find that fascist, because fascists want to control every aspect of your life and tax the crap out of you. Then live off the spoils of this form of government.
Ted is exactly the opposite of that, but you would never know because you have not asked him, nor have you listened to what he says.
You just seem to be listing to a bunch of greedy politicians who lie all the time, all the time. They never do anything they promise, and when elected the only improvement to life is in their wallets. Just in case you have never listened to their stupid lies use to get your vote. Then look at the results of their management of the government. They get rich, take money from foreign governments and screw the rest. That has been going on for a long time now. The fruits of their actions are clear in every city where they rule, POVERTY increases, jobs go away and homelessness increases, increased welfare and food stamps and no incentive for them to have a better life. LOOK.
I lived in the Bay area in the 70's and it was very nice, now it is a crap hole with huge problems. Who do you blame for that? And the politicians live in multimillion dollar homes with walls around them and armed guards. They tell nice stories about how they are for the "downtrodden" but then their actions MAKE people suffer and become the "downtrodden"> That is why I never vote for any of them.
@@GoodScienceForYou100% agree! NEVER think, you know somebody,
only by the things you heard about him.
Many people -

many things!
Someone thinks, he knows the world, because he's looking the news?
No, he only know, what they say in news....
Great song! That's what i know, see and feel.
Growing up with "Stranglehold" and "Motor City Madhouse",
hymns in my regular discotheque. Finest stuff, no words.
The first time I heard someone play a guitar live was to this song. Fortunately for me, it was Ted performing it at his camp for kids 30 years ago.
That's pretty awesome.
Rad
Ted, ur always welcome at my campfire. Anytime.
+Ron Ackerman Well said brother...well said.
Thx, I've been a fan For over 1/2 my life. Really glad he see's life as I do.
I would like to put in a request to sit at that campfire... lol.. Ted is the man... been a fan for many years
pancho villa your a liberal douche bag.
Shwwwww. No one knows
It's 2020 and this is STILL the best hunting song EVER! Give me a thumbs-up if you agree!
This and I just wanna go hunting too . But I love this song so I would agree

Love this song! First heard on "truckin bozo" overnite show!
How are there 128 dislikes? Forget his political views for a second and just appreciate his love for hunting and ability to play guitar with the best in the world! Straight legend!
"Eat only what you have hunted and killed yourself (or found near the road)" Rüdiger Nehberg, German survival artist / people buy meat on markets, it is produced in tons! Just because they do not SEE the killing, is it better? I do not like hunting, just for fun or to win trophies, but I think it's more honest to hunt your own food than to buy. Completely independent of: brilliant guitarist.
His political views are perfect as well:)
Love em or hate em , the man is a rock god
Agreed. Enjoy it for what it is to the artist,,, so many haters. I don't hunt, but would prefer to eat what I caught/ hunted if I learned to safely do it. My own take and experience: as a late teen a friend and I chose to take trek off-road with "beverages" and I ended up rolling my rig at about 2am. Not knowing left from right or east from west my buddy, a Native American, looked up for a minute and said "this way" and 6 hours hours we were home. When I questioned later how he knew which way to go at each Y he had no answer... he said that he just knew. He'd never been in those mountains before, but his ancestors have for thousands of years. Thank you Auggie for getting me home safe!
They were watching it up side down
I've heard it thousands of times...and I'll hear thousands more....badass....
My brother and i listen to this song on repeat for about 2 hrs the night before opening day every year. It will be played at my funeral... i hope when im gone my son feels this way about me. Mentorship is as big a part of hunting as the hunt.
❤️❤️❤️🤘🤘🤘
Damn straight
I love this man. Incredibly intelligent. Has an agenda that he pushes but even if you don’t agree with what he has to say it’s kind of hard to deny his intellect. On top of that, one of the best musicians ever
If you dont agree with what he has to say youre a commie democrat simple as that
Yep an agenda of TRUTH, LOGIC and COMMON SENSE something alot of people don't understand
I just started archery hunting I have not got anything yet but it is fun to get out in the woods with friends.
That's what it's really about. The experience.
The spirit of Fred Bear and Ted Nugent will be in the air and earth forever right where Ted played this campfire version !
My dad passed away last year and he was my hunting mentor and buddy. This was also his favorite song. We'd listen to it on opening morning every year. Pass it on to the next generation and if you don't have children, find a friend, or relative to pass it on to. In the woods, he's still alive.
Yes sir
UncleTed for pres
Or Homeland Security.
Even though it's basically 3 chords there's a lot of tricky nuances he's doing, and doing it cleanly. Plus singing at the same time with emotion. Awesome job!
maybe next time he can tune his high E string lol
Thanks Simon Cowell - wtf do you know about it? LMFAO another worthless TH-cam review from a moron
Really. Am F# Gmaj; but it's his picking hand that's doing a shit load of work.
Politics aside, Teds a hell of a player.
Joshua Elsner
Yup. not much for lyrics but a good player. Always worked hard at it. Can't knock him for that. If he'd just shut his phoney fucking mouth he could have some credibility.
Joshua Elsner Actually it's F, not F#.
The lyrics to Fred Bear hit home with so many. Back when Ted had a forum he asked for stories about how the song had affected lives. There were hundreds of replies, many of them heart-breaking stores, about this song.
Lost my nephew David opening day rifle season in Michigan, fall from a treestand... He is now the spirit that I will walk the woods and trails with always in the wind and in my heart, some of you ppl just dont get it!!!Thanks Sasha,Thanks Ted
+Rick Demara Sorry for your loss, RIP. '' In the wind he's still alive''
+Chris Weber thanks Chris
+SA spinks Thank,appreciated!
Rick Demara Was he drunk?
You’ve travelled far and wide Uncle Ted but your roots always show. Thank you for this song.
The legend
this is by far my favourite uncle Ted song. I just came across this version of it and really hits home, nothing better than true feelings by a camp fire to make a guy really appreciate life and the hunt.
true music that makes a human feel life the way it is ment to be
Bow and arrow second
Good to see you playing and singing brother! Great video, thanks.
Ted, I' ve seen you in Amarillo, Tx, back in the 70's, and you are better now than ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dedicated Mr Walter Adams!
I have met Ted and Fred Bear. I am blessed.
WOW
Great musicianship!!! A GREAT Patriot and a TRUE beacon for ALL conservatives. Thanks, Uncle Ted!!! Happy Thanksgiving, 2019!
Great song. One of the last songs me and my father listened to together before he died of cancer. Hunted all of our lives. Join you on the big hunt before too long
Happy Birthday Dad ❤ l wish they would make a movie.
That be awsome
nothing but chills while watching this, amazing.
OMG, can't believe I am just seeing this now. This is Gold! Seen him many times since 1978. Love
I remember one time when our PE teacher in Junior High school played a series of short Fred Bear films for us instead of having us do the regular exercise regimen. I enjoyed the hell out of that. I will never forget watching him hunt doves with a bow.
If a teacher so much as brought hunting videos onto a school campus these days, the administration would probably call the cops on him and he would lose his job.
Maybe with President Trump in office, we can get a little trickle-down common sense into our public institutions and the younger generation can enjoy the freedoms we used to take for granted.
thank you for so many good songs Uncle Ted
This is America. Been hunting in Michigan my whole life - Fred bear was a great man and thanks for passing along the history
i love you ted. dont ever leave us.
he is a bad ass guitar player damn
My all time favorite song. Chill's everytime I hear Fred Bear.
Back
in the 1950's Fred Bear was the greatest archer there was.His name was
Bear because he was an Indian. My Grandfather along with Cindy Hillie
Grandfather and The grandfather of the late Todd weaver started the
Indian Trail Bowmen today known as like
Stateline archery? Like do not quote me on that . my grandfather along
with Cindy's Dave Hillie always went to the national archery convention.
They would shoot an rubber tip arrow up and into the middle of this
huge ring. like 200 yards diameter. These arrows were hand lathed and
painted with there name on the arrow. Everyone made their own arrows.
These were known as Farewell arrows. you would put your name on the
arrow and it was you duty to find the person that had their name on the
arrow. Thank You Ted Nugent for sharing Fred Bear of Bear Bow company!! I
wish I could show you this hand made Bow made by Fred..Like · Reply · 6 mins
David Cox Ted is Indian too 😉
Still get chills every time I hear this one grew up with fred and ted as my heroes could never thank them enough for molding me into the man I am. 👍👍👍👍👍
Every time.
TED your awesome and theres not a better hunting spokesman out there, your a great man,MR. NUGENT
To heck with telling ghost stories around the campfire when you can get a one-off performance by Uncle Ted....wow.
Fred bear is bow hunting legend I bought a Fred bear white tail hunter compound bow thirty five years ago and still hunt with it very constantl they don't make them like that any more I went to the Fred bear museum in Gainesville fla. Awesome. What that man has hunted with a bow will blow your mind .
Damn guitar just floating there and playing itself in front of a campfire. how so?
Yea.....Yea. Forgive me.........................Just relax my friend. Relax.
His knee and leg is supporting guitar!
That Mossy Oak camo is the best!
Yeah and it is also singing and it sounds a lot like ted nugent
That Leg going reminds me of Angus..😎
I remember i was 12 years old, hunting, moose and partridge in Nakina, Ont. my cousin and I must've listened to this song 40 times in 2 weeks :) . hearing it like this must have been unreal for the audience that was there!!!
Awesome . Play this right before season starts! Like a hype song for us hunters!!
There are lots of awesome talented musicians in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame and Ted Nugent belongs in as much as anyone else that's in, but he's not the norm and the he doesn't follow. In other words he doesn't follow the sheepherder like the other sheep, he's in a class all of his own. I don't think he ever will. Thumbs up to a true American. Thank for being a voice for the NRA, and true conservatives.
I completely agree with you Todd! Could not have said it better myself!
Exactly. I'm albertan and have the same views as uncle ted
Can't count how may times I have come back to this Unca Ted Vid during deer season in MI. Thanks again Ted. You are an American Legend.
One of the greatest musicians and singers ever and one of the best men ever!!!
Weather it's around a campfire or at one of his concerts this man puts on a great show.....Rock On Brother
Ted, I am saddened to hear the passing of your brother Johnny. My he rest in peace. My condolences to you and your family. See you on the great hunt again 😥
All I can say is I know for many years of my life you were called terrible. Ted, but you're nothing but a blessing for people that enjoys rock and roll rock on. Love you, Ted
Sedition; my aching ass. This man is "All American". Never will he back down to the haters. This man is a certified "U.S" police officer and would protect the U.S. public to the end. Some of our heroes might be a mystery to people from other nations. Many of us who are from the "land of the Free" will will always speak up and defend our Nation and our values. That goes for our heroes. Fred Bear was a true American Hero. He taught us how to interact in nature when most people would flee from a situation. His contribution to natural sciences and Bear/human interactions, greatly increased our knowledge of bear behavior in general.
Can never get enough of this. Great tune.
This song gets me pumped for deer season. Uncle Ted for President!!!!
how many times have I heard Ted since early 70's? seen him over 35 times.....I am a player......he just gets better !! Ted, "you rock" my friend ! I am Republican...Musician, Veteran, Patriot..and a friend of the byrdman !! ...... this is our country !..YOU GO BROTHER !!!!! also.....every time I hear this tune, I like it more.
!
Listening to this and lovin it in these troubled times
Absolutely beautiful, just Uncle Ted and his acoustic, Nailing It!!!
Great Song about a Hunter by the Nuge! Great Guitar 🎸 player!
👏🏻🎸😎
Ted is to hunting what Santa is to Christmas. He just embodies the spirit of the wild. I grew up where this song was the anthem for every hunter at the beginning of the season.
Ted this is an awesome tune either live in your show but around a campfire on nothing but acoustic is just awesome
Even though I'm a PSE man through and through, gotta admit I love Fred Bear and this song...
I am also of the PSE family but yup
I Love This Song!! But this version is killer!! Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!! Long Live Fred Bear And all of our Fathers and GrandFathers before us!!
🤘🤘🤘
Proud to be a Michigander like Uncle Ted and Fred Bear
What a soul cleansing lick. 👍
Amazing.
We are all truly blessed to have had Ted.
My future (and present) wife said, "you can't take your bow!"
I was about the only one without my bow.
Ted sat on the edge of the stage for hours and talked to every one of us, individually.
I don't think this was the one I was at but It's the same for me, bow hunters rally.
I have the shirt (should've been my bow) he signed for me at that rally still, it'll be buried with me if I have my say.
I am blessed to have met this man for a few minutes and I wish I could share what he does.
A smidge of his talent wouldn't hurt either.
All kinds of rambling but fook it, I'm sending it.
😎 uncle ted is my idol
Ted always nails it.. now his Fred Bear Ted classic is for evermore!
Thank you Uncle Ted
When I was a teenager, my friends and I discovered archery, and Fred Bear was something of a hero to us, the epitome of the "cool dude". After all, any guy with the balls to take on a polar bear armed with a bow HAD to be a badass, right? I think it's pretty cool that somebody actually wrote a song about the guy.
Dig into uncle Ted too, guys pretty damn cool. But yeah Fred bear was a pretty damn cool dude not to mention him and Teddy where real good friends
My Father loved Ted Nugent, and this song. I lost my Father. This helps fill the void. God Bless.
Goose bumps Everytime. We have a family cabin by gwinn Michigan in the deep woods. Been in the family since the the 50s and they have been hunting there since the 30s. Thanks Uncle Ted and Fred!
6 years later....fkn A...the swirling dust of the American spirit !!!
Thank GOD us Conservatives have you on our side. Thank you so much for what you do. Oh and you've always been totally awesome with yer music brother!!!!!!
Walked into my wedding reception to this in 2004! Named my beagle Freddie in 2004!
Ted I grew up in northern Minnesota I learned music there in high school
You rock old man.
This is my favourite song of all time. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love this Acoustic version best! and Ted can Rock it out with such emotion and feeling and it brings Fred Bear back to where he belongs! ALIVE!
SO AWESOME!
That was Awesome! Thanks, Ted. Not many Rock Stars would do that.
What a great song. Archery hunting is being one with nature.
Thank you brother
Thank You Ted for keeping the history alive!!
TOO GOOD. Talent beyond Talent. AND with a true moral compass. America needs more Ted Nugents
Great Song.... Love it in acustic version!!
Ted played this at Pork Slam a few years ago at Sunrise Acres for a half dozen of us hunters. Uncle Ted is the real deal. What a privilege to meet him and have him play a few songs for us.
In hunting there are alot of memories of those hunts that stand out. One time we were doing a lost nest at night while turkeys are on the roost. A family of 4 kids, parents and I called all around the decoys for about 20 minutes. Next the father would not wait for 2 hours and we bumped three groups of Turkeys headed our way!
wow! what an amazing version. what a legend.
i revisit this video from time to time and i can't believe it's not over 1 million views.
I want Ted and his guitar at one of my bonfires this summer. Now that would be way to awesome.Love this song.
Beautiful. We all love Ted. Incredible man! Listen to him!!
Brining it home brother.... Uncountless times, my father and I have spent having a step back and thinking of the meeting of this song.... Dad is not longer with me.... But..... This is.... And it's what keeps things in check for me, tomorrow it's opening day here in Michigan and life is good..... I'm thinking me and my O'l Man are going to have some fun.... Thanks so much Uncle Ted.... Rock Starr Hall of Fame anyday in my book Sir.
Listened to this song so much passing through Oregon.
Pure, raw talent! Ted is one of the Fred Bears in my life.
It makes me feel warm and good inside...... First Ted Nugent concert was Baltimore 1977.. 44 years later .. I can still hear Fred Bear..

Brings back great memories. First time I heard this song is when uncle Ted sang this in Rohnert Park Ca.
The season has come and gone again and we did what we do. Thank you for walking with me on the days i wasn’t alone. Until we hunt again Brother Arrow.
