In some versions of Darkstalkers there's a hidden character called Oboro Bishamon. It's basically what would happen if he had control over his possessed armor, and you can see his human form in the start and end of a match. It'd be cool to see this version of Bishamon in some way
I think for something like that have Bishamon's story continue along so that he actually bucks the cursed armour and sword, causing them to become a semi-newcomer who just uses Bishamon's old moveset but under a new name while Bishamon would be the opposite, being an old fighter with a totally new moveset because now he's trying to hunt down and defeat his old armour and sword before they can find a new host.
For those who think that Darkstalkers is "weird" because it's japanese, the reason it seems strange is because it is a combination of Battle Anime, Gothic Horror and Looney Tunes. The special attacks, like turning enemies into basketballs are things taken from old american cartoons where characters often have flexible rubber-like bodies, in fact i believe in Tom & Jerry the bullldog(i think his name is Brutus?) crushes Tom into a ball and later Tom is fine. Same with Lilith's special allowing her to place people into a dance show, a very Looney Tunes type of trick. What im trying to say is, it's not weird, you just have to unpack the influences behind the game!
Who the f*** are you talking about, 90% of the population these days watches anime and Cartoon Network on the daily, darkstalkers doesn't even scratch the surface of "weird", no serious person would ever turn away from this game because it was too "weird", that's just idiotic
@@oscar1012 I have met plenty of people who think Japan is weird and never really try to understand the Cultural basis behind what they watch. Also, youre exagerating with the numbers there.
@@brunfranc I'm exaggerating!? Nooooo reaaaaly!? Are you telling me that my percentages aren't accurate!? Whaaaaaaat!? Anyway we were talking about darkstalkers, not the entirety of Japan, that's a whole nother can of worms
@Bruno Franco You're thinking of Spike (who was originally named Killer and then Butch for one episode... not to be confused with another bulldog named Spike / Butch from the Droopy series of cartoons that were created by Tex Avery).
If the game takes place several years in the future with Anita as an adult and Donovan as Dee, I'll say that we should include Cecil, the little kid that follows Phobos in the third game, by the end of the Arcade mode, Phobos reactivates the other units with the task of protecting Cecil, he could have the role of Vampire Hunter with the gimmick of being the crazy scientist that uses several gadgets and tools to fight the darkstalkers but unlike B.B. Hood their weapons would have a more Sci-Fi tone such as a teleport, a laser gun, some stun gun, etc, for his level 3 it would be safe to say that he summons an army of Phobos units that basically bombards the opponent.
Totally agreed! I think what lacked in this roster is that ironically there weren't as many humans as I'd like, people tend to forget one of the themes that Darkstalkers is that humanity tends to be more monstrous than the actual monsters.
Ooh, we could also add Emily, Victor's little sister. Like Victor, Emily is powered by electricity. However, she can't produce any of her own. So, if Victor is returning, Emily could return as a cyborg. Perhaps an alternate ending to Victor's arcade story, where Emily gets a cool electric heart or something. Or, if Victor's gonna stay dead, have Emily summon out Victor's soul for her special attacks.
My suggestions for some new characters: 1. An Angel warrior, a creepy looking one covered in eyes 2. A dragon that changed into a humanoid form 3. A Yuki Onna / Snow Woman 4. A human wizard 5. A living statue
Something blind. Gotta have a blind character, doesn’t matter what the overall archetype is but you’ve gotta put one in. Zato, Kenshi, blind characters are always cool
Y’know, there’s been a lot of Darkstalkers buzz lately. Sphere Hunter made a video on the series, the Death Battle between Jon Talbain and Sabrewulf, and now this. Hopefully Capcom takes note... Edit: I probably would have went with Firebrand over Arthur, and maybe had Ruby Heart in the base roster over Amingo, but this roster is great either way.
I was also wondering if we could’ve got a Breath of Fire character in there as well to help bring that series back in any way like with Tessa and Red Earth.
I'm surprised you didn't bring up Guinieve, the original concept for Lilith who was Morigan's angelic sister. I'm sure a good movement could be created for her.
This is the first I've heard of her having a name. I knew there was an angel in that development, but nothing else about her. I thought that was just Lilith with feathers.
That could be a way to explain why she's back despite being part of Morrigan. Donnavan's power gets Heaven's attention so they give Lilith a new body. Or make it a second costume.
@Idongesit Usen that could even be a concept for the story- Jedah's plan causing so much havoc that Heaven decides to send an agent (Guinieve) to see if there had to be a war with the demon world. The war could even be the threat that Morrigan's father foresaw happening.
They could incorporate details from that concept into the grown-up Anita, if she's a character who symbolises the "light" to the Darkstalkers' "darkness".
I’d absolutely LOVE to see a Darkstalkers 4 at some point. Too bad Capcom has a history with locking their franchises in the vault for long periods of time
I think for a Roster like this, the simple answer is EVERYONE is coming back... what you might need to do is suggest what we could see for new monster-inspired fighters.
Three characters that should return for Darkstalkers 4 are Ruby Heart, Sonson, and Amingo since they were supposed to be in a actual 4th Darkstalkers game.
@@atomu27 This is common knowledge now a days just look up anything related to MVC2 and you'll learn that Ruby Heart, Sonson, and Amingo were supposed to be in a 4th Darkstalkers game. It's one of the reasons why Ruby Heart, Sonson, and Amingo are called the forgotten Darkstalkers.
@@derrickhaggard Sorry, but only Ruby Heart & Amingo are the forgotten Darkstalkers. Sonson from MVC2 as she’s really named “Sonson lll” comes from a reference to her father’s name in her own game.
@@jjenk911 Here's what I want to know: Why not? Did the heads of Capcom greenlight the project simply because they knew there were a lot of retro fans?
@@mdalsted Honestly considering how well the reception of the Street Fighter V presentations were received and the son of the CEO of Capcom loves the company’s older franchises, I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility for Darkstalkers to return. We are past the Dark Age of Capcom and have been doing a really good job of with their recent projects.
I actually really like this roster. I liked seeing you dive deep into the game’s lore to find new characters, as well as pulling from other franchises.
Honestly I would replace Menat with Firebrand. We haven't really had one of the classic looking demons in darkstalkers yet, He already has a moveset for reference and he fits in better than Menat.
Yeah, once he said he was going to use existing Capcom characters to fill the roster, I actually assumed Firebrand would come up. And I was completely expecting that the buildup to Arthur would instead be Demon's Crest and Firebrand. I mean, Demon's Crest has got to be the most Darkstalkers-like game out of Capcom's other properties, it seemed pretty obvious to me. So obvious in fact that I wonder if this video's creator simply isn't aware of Firebrand and his obscure old games. Their setting could fit into the whole Darkstalkers Makai mess, Firebrand already has a fighting game appearance with a full move set, a full-on demon/devil of his particular monstrous sort isn't already in the game and fits the "classic monsters and mythology" theme... Ignorance is the only reason to leave Firebrand out that I can see. With that said though, I've never been crazy for Firebrand's actual design though, so I'd give him a design overhaul. Or just not use Firebrand, so much as some other similar demon. His setting had countless gargoyle-esque demons already, and in my opinion, most all the other important demons in Demon's Crest looked cooler than him anyway. Furthermore, I'd agree with kicking Menat in favor of Firebrand. Darkstalkers has too few characters to be doubling up on concepts already,* and Anakaris already has the mummy and Egyptian mythology thing covered. And uses the mummy concept more thoroughly, uniquely, and with far flashier results than she does anyway. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for cute girls, but there are plenty of less redundant monsters, legends, mythology etc that could be used instead, to give us both a hottie AND something more unique than a second mummy. Who is hot, yes, but otherwise kinda bland compared to most of the cast. She's basically just a girl in a sexy mummy costume, and that's not the level of design wackiness that made me love Darkstalkers' character designs so much. ...Which, at the risk of going out on a tangent, is also my only concern regarding a grown-up Anita. It's fine for her to look kinda bland as a background accessory to Donovan, but as a standalone character, I'd expect more. Her psychic powers could make for flashy projectile attacks and such, but she'd still personally just be a normal human woman. And BB Hood is already one normal human too many. Zombies turning into chainsaws, giant claw arms, shape-shifting flames, that's the Darkstalkers good stuff. Even Morrigan's wings turn into jet thrusters for her dash. And I don't see Anita's concept calling for stuff like that, unless her powers really, really changed over time. *Yes, I do realize that Lilith already kinda doubled up on Morrigan's succubus concept, but I never liked her either.
@@Alloveck he never said he wanted me natural as a character but just a charecter wearing her skin, also I feel this has potential since the custume comes from a worshiper, and I like the idea of having a occult priestess in the rooster, she'll be able to sommon spirits and cast status effects, this will make her difrent from anyone in the rooster
@@Alloveck Red Arremer Joker from the GBA version of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Namco x Capcom is canonically the Firebrand from Demon's Crest, but long after that game, so they could use that design. As for Anita; I feel like trying to decide what fits Darkstalkers by being like the other characters is kinda missing the point, part of what makes Darkstalkers what it is is that every character were given the room to be fully their own. Being the one plain-looking character without as much goofy animation gimmics could actually make her stand out more. Hell they could go further and have her death animations etc. look more realistic, like a regular human really being hurt, that would certainly give her animation it's own identity. And I'd certainly prefer her "plain" look over another "sexy haloween costume"-character or the Witch from Red Earth, who is kinda that, but also can't do any really wild body animation stuff. Actually it specifically bothers me that "big boob, conventionally attractive chick in spooky clothes" is what is considered "Darkstalkers-y" now. Even with Moriggan and Felicia they put in effort to set them apart. While you can't tell from most of the artwork they put out these days, Felicia was given a broader frame, and a lankier and more muscular body, plus a genuinly innocent and straight-forward personality to contrast with her apparance and Morrigan's seductiveness. Even with Lilith, if you look at how she was portraid around the time of Vampire Saviour, they put in some effort to avoid stepping on Morrigan's terf too much in this regard. But with all the Morrigan-saturation and the increasing Morriganification of the other female members of the cast (except maybe B.B.) everyone, including Capcom, has seem to have forgotten that "Halloween at the strip club" was spesifically Morrigan's thing. And Anita might be the last female character we get from this franchise that isn't going to be that. Also she isn't just a human, she already is her own bundle of horror archetypes; the creepy girl, the Carrie or Jennifer from Phenomena type character, the persecuted "witch", and her design from the PS2 game also evoke both exorsist/priest and witchfinder elements.
Or we could throw an oddball and add Astharoth instead. A lot of the demons from GnG deserves a spotlight too. Braeger, Lucifer, Verona, Sardius... But then a lot of these guys are massive, Astharoth included...
Was kind of hoping that there would be some ideas for completely new characters, rather than having them all be pre-existing ones. Some monsters like a devil, a golem, a dragon, a poltergeist, a harpy, the headless horseman etc.
I completely agree. More original characters based on classic legends and mythology are what is needed. Every Darkstalker should be something inherently magical or supernatural.
@@Mclucasrv capcom sabotaged darkstalkers before the sales and didn't really advertise it much outside of japan.I like sf but its overblown now and needs a rest now if its fighting games then rival schools, darkstalkers and power stone should be at the forefront right now.Monster hunter deserves a break too given how well it did.
You mentioned the lack of a light-user in the roster while talking about Anita's possibilities, and yet there's already a light user in the darkstalker lore, hidden in plain sight, that could be Made into a playable character. In fact, He already was! I'm talking about Oboro Bishamon, the secret character avaiable only in the japanese vampire savior sequels. This character is a version of Bishamon that actually conquered the cursed armor and can fully control it: He appears in his monk garbs during intro and post fight, before wearing and after removing the armor. Gameplay-wise, he's almost identical to normal Bishamon, but He lacks any ghostly stuff, like the spirit projectile or the crushing hand. This follows the actual scenario of vampire savior, where Bishamon is not actually Bishamon but Just the Armor and the Sword rampaging around, since Bishamon managed to break their possesion at the end of Night Warriors, not realizing that they already consumed so many souls that they don' t need a wearer anymore. The actual Bishamon in Vampire Savior is a pretty powerful Buddist Monk, who roams the lands exorcising evil with, you guessed it, the power of light, hunting the cursed armor. So yeah, THIS version of Bishamon could be Made into a full character, way different from previous incarnations, husing his Bo and Sutra prayers for martial arts and holy conjuring, thus covering both the role of Darkstalker Hunter and light wielder, while the former Bishamon could also be renamed using the actual name of the Armor and Sword (Hannya and Kannya, if i remember correctly), in a kind of Eddie/Zato-1 fashion I'd take this over the Kaibito costume anytime, mostly because it'd be way too redundant with Anakaris. Anyway, i agree pretty Much with every other choice, nice job! Especially Amingo! Such a fun design, it's a shame to leave him in the Capcom Forgettarium :(
Dark pit appeared in kid Icarus uprising before being in smash. Therefore, since he wasn't a fighting game character to begin with Thorgi's logic still applies.
@@Gusername Yes I know, but that still means that dark pit originated became a character in kid Icarus uprising, not Smash 4. And what you and thorgi said was: "The first fighting game character based off a costume." So since he originated from a rail shooter, this comment is incorrect.
Neat idea. Only real gripe is the lack of real original characters I really like the idea of Arthur's order of Holy Knights tho. Could even relate that to Anita, like maybe a member saves her from a feral Donovan, their magic somewhat purifying him before he flees. Seeing that the Knights could help her save Donovan, she joins them in the hopes she can cleanse him from his corruption.
As far as Original characters. Fans Have been making Fan-made Darkstalkers, most of which are in-line with the tone and Appeal of the franchise, look at the "Embrace the Dark" contest, and you will see. I especially love the Design appeal of Odessa! www.deviantart.com/testament77/art/Darkstalkers-OC-Odessa-Loveless-Astrid-Borghild-349776494
I'd combine Donavan and Dee into one character since it's just a sprite swap with him. For the now opened slot, I'd pick the Wraith from _Slam Masters 2: Ring of Destruction_ (a 2D fighter that never even made it to the US). He's a buff voodoo priest and would fit great in the _Darkstalkers_ universe, plus it would finally connect the DS series to _Street Fighter_ via _Slam Masters_ as it's where Mike Haggar originated. For the Wraith's moveset, make him a technical grappler with different grabs and long-range dark magic like summoning demonic snakes and maybe dead villains as his super like Zombie Belger, Lorenzo from _Haunting Ground,_ and RE3's Nemesis. It's fanservice but the kind that would make lots of people really interested in playing him.
With you're Arthur pick there is a capcom game with a grandson of arthur that also has a darkstalkers connection. The game cannon spike a game with a couple of other capcom characters in a run and gun type game In the game that Arthur has a more iron man type version of the Gold armor and in the game one of the secret characters is bb hood. So Arthur and her knowing each other isnt far off and that version could be Good to use in the darkstalker universe and seeing how the Arthur line had adapted to fight more monstrous creatures
I would maybe add new monsters from more recent folklore like a chupacabras, tradicional alien, some lovecraftian inspired creature (since now they are more mainstream, etc)
Technically, Rikuo is loosely based on the Creature from the Black Lagoon, which is loosely based on the Deep Ones. But there are far more Cthulhu type minions than just Deep Ones.
I would be up to even include the Revenant from Celtics folklore, or maybe even put all Monsters from Red Earth that you fight against, as optional bosses.
Darkstalkers is probably my favorite fighting game franchise, mainly due to the sheer creativity in the characters and outrageous animations. Others have already mentioned what I was going to, the possibility of adding other classic monsters, like the Bride of Frankenstein (she could attack with her hair) or something like the Headless Horseman. The series has yet to delve into classic Greek and Roman mythology, so we could have a centaur, minotaur, gorgon, or something like that. And, going into my own heritage, they could introduce a Scandinavian troll. A big, lumbering Abigail-style brute with a tail and a club, an aversion to sunlight, and who turns to stone when defeated.
Definitely agree. This is Darkstalkers, the characters need to be monsters of some kind. Bulletta is a human, but the whole point of her character is to show that humans can be monsters on the inside and she's so psychopathic to put actual monsters into shame. Anita is already a bit of a stretch, but I guess espers can be scary too, and there's movies like Scanners to support that. Arthur however... how do you justify that? It doesn't matter if he's deeply connected to monsters, if classical heroes fighting monsters were fine, we would have had a Van Helsing lookalike character by now.
I do love the idea of Ghouls and Ghosts and Red Earth being connected to Darkstalker. I think that would make the world of Darkstalkers more bigger really. I am thinking what if there is a Build a Roster video on a Disgaea fighting game? Preferably made by Arc System Works. I mean, it worked with Persona 4, and I feel like they are the only company that makes fighting games that can do Disgaea’s style justice.
I like the idea. So while you wanted to avoid guest characters who would overshadow the main cast, one I thought of who could probably avoid that would be Ryu from the Breath of Fire series. He's from another franchise that is essentially dead. His stand out abilities are that he turns into a bunch of different dragon forms, so he could have interesting movelist based on him shapeshifting, or just fighting one of his part dragon part human forms. I know the series started off as a homage to horror monsters are dragons aren't really horror based, but I still don't feel a dragon would be out of place. I mean we already had an alien made of fire.
I felt like you could've explored other new archetypes that have not been in a Darkstalkers game as of yet such as a mad scientist, phantom, gorgon, nine-tailed fox etc.
If I was a designer on the next Darkstalkers I'd look at this video as a goldmine for ideas. I would have liked to see what your ideas for brand new characters would be, namely what classic horror creature to base a character on. Also I think Ruby Heart should have a ghost pirate aspect added to her. Great video!
Ruby Heart being a ghost pirate would be so cool. Perhaps some of her attacks involve slashes with her cutlass, but the sword is stretched and bent like an accordion to accommodate different movements.
Skullgirls is the closest thing to a Darkstalkers sequel we will get. Great gameplay, Goofy Horror aesthetic with great animation. I hope im wrong and Capcom tries something new with the series beyond chameos. great potential roster Thorgi, keep it up!
@@shadowclaw7210 Or a glitchy voice robot jester? I mean, I'd slightly prefer Alastor as a guest from either of those, but Robo-Fizz could be interesting.
I’ve never clicked “save” faster on a video. If I could BUY this series, it would never be dormant again. I’m hoping for (not including the 18 plus Dee) Adult Anita Ruby Heart Amingo Majorette (comics) Every Red Earth character Khaibit Emily as a super “monster”
Sissel from ghost trick. It wouldn't have to be the iconic Yomiel design but since Sissel is immortal now as a ghost he could find any host to help him.
“The first time in fighting game history a character is based on an alternate costume” Eh... Dark Pit happened first (although Uprising isn’t a fighting game itself, he did also join Smash as a full character)
Ya know, I could see Dimetrescu being a fun guest fighter for this game, what with being an attractive monster lady in a franchise known for them, especially since with modern 3d models the cartoonish squash and stretch will probably be reduced.
You know what would make this game even better? If Capcom teamed up with Arc System make the 3D models look and be as expressive as they're sprites from the older titles.
Monsters that are not darkstalkers yet: The invisible man Mr Hyde Phantom of the opera La catrina El chupacabras Slime Monster Clown Living dolls A Yokai A dragon An Ogre The loch ness monster A witch
first of all, amazing video. secondly, here’s some ideas for characters: (not counting ones you already mentioned) pre-existing: Ruby Heart and Son-Son from Marvel vs Capcom 2 Dark Talbain (version of Jon Talbain overcome by his werewolf instincts, making him the evil-ryu/devil-jin of the game Kage from Street Fighter V (he might’ve been removed from existence in the street fighter universe, but since everyone always suggests Akuma as a guest character, i wanted to do someone else from Street Fighter and Kage made the most sense) Arakune from Blazblue (i don’t really feel i need to explain the reason for this one) The witch from the comics, using her Black Cat helper to make her a puppet fighter Outside Ideas: A chimaera-lady who can transform into a full Chimaera for her supers A gargoyle who can turn parts of his body into stone a Gorgon a Dulhan (human like entity that can remove it’s head, there are already plenty of images of this online) A biblically accurate Angel (someone else already suggested this, but it’s too good to pass up) a dryad/Treant (living tree, make them a charge character) a Spartoi (greek undead soldiers born from dragon teeth) a grave-robber/dungeon-raider who fights using magic artefacts
That grave robber idea is actually kinda fire. Just some Indiana Jones-type guy or chick who gains massive power through the artifacts they find and are being hunted for it, or simply decide to hunt with them.
This is a pretty solid roster, though I'd love to see more original characters join the game. There are loads of untapped monster types which have risen in popularity over the years. I'd love to see a Sadako alike ghost girl, or a Dullahan/Headless knight. I also think there's one character from the game's original lore you're overlooked: Morrigan's father, Belial. We've never seen this guy outside of silhouettes, and he's supposed to be one of the most powerful beings in Makai. So why not have him finally appear? He would make for a perfect final boss. I'm also gonna throw a bone towards Harry Grimoire, the nerdy kid from the animated series. Have him lean into the boy wizard trope, make him a Harry Potter parody. He could be the Dan-esque joke character.
From my understanding, Amingo was going to be in a Dreamcast game involving some maracas/shakers, like a rhythm game. The game never took off, because of issues with the peripherals. It was supposed to have a Latin music theme, hence the anthropomorphised cactus…
30:15 ish: Actually, I believe that Dark Pit (who would later join the Smash roster in SSB4) from Kid Icarus: Uprising was inspired by the "fallen angel" black winged alt for Pit in Smash Bros Brawl. Though I'm not quite sure that's what you're describing, a direct fighting game->fighting game costume->character jump. Mortal Kombat has probably already done it a thousand times over by this point though Edit: Seeing Thorgi lament the lack of Darkstalkers stuff as well as pleading for them to rerelease Red Earth/old arcade games is kind of amusing in hindsight, given that (aside from the sf6 teaser) that was their big announcement of that feburary stream

Firebrand: Gargoyle's Quest, With a special ladder, devoted to the fiery demon. Alastor:Viewtiful Joe & With three DLC costume of the Arthur descendents(or Lancelot or Galahad) of Dante from Devil May cry! See this way he can't overshadow because it's just a DLC costume! In the story! DLC pack 2: This looks like the job for the military! Regina: From Dino crisis. I know this very much feels like a resident evil character, true, but giant dinosaurs, genetic manipulation is very fitting, also the DLC costume makes perfect sense. John and Felicia both get costumes of Velociraptor! Female Commando/Male Commando: From bionic commando, force, names will be added later because they didn't give them names. Alternate costume for Victor von Gerdenheim Of Nathan "Rad" Spencer! Kenji: Also from RedEarth with bonus costume of Strider Hiryu! Leon Scott Kennedy: From resident evil, with BB hood costume Of Ada Wong! Sniper Joe: from the mega Man universe, bonus costume for Anakaris: Pharaoh man! Connecting Red Earth to Darkstalkers is a genius idea and very on-brand for Capcom! Damn you for making this hypothetical game sound so fun! As for future content, I’d love to see more videos that aren’t focused on huge crossover titles... But I wouldn’t say no to a CVS3 build the roster.
Some ideas for new characters 1. A Chupacabra that gets a ridiculous Freakazoid type buff when he drinks any type of blood 2. A Terracotta soldier that holds the souls of some kind of ancient imperial war 3. A mismatched Dinosaur that is trying to bring back his people 4. A Wyvern princess 5. A Chinese Guardian Lion (Who may or may not be related to the terracotta soldier) 6. Some sort of Naga 7. A superstitious bounty hunter from the human world 8. Bigfoot, as a legendary Darkstalker 9. A descendant of Merlin (NOT HARRY) 10. Fujin and Raijin (as brothers or lovers i’m not sure)
42:00 as you were getting ready to announce Arthur, I was thinking, you should use Ghosts and Goblins. But I was thinking definitely include Firebrand the Red Arremer.
I gonna say this, if Darkstalkers and Street fighter are conected, they NEED to add Necro to the game, he is the most Darkstalker'ish character in the SF saga
His skills are too similar to Victor's with the stretching and electricity. But it would be cool if the game had an assist system and he could be Victor's assist, or Victor could have some nod to Necro to establish a relation.
I kind of wish you had gone so far as to come up with new characters. I know crossovers and deep lore are compelling, but I'd honestly love to have seen a video talking about what monster/horror archetypes haven't become Darkstalkers yet and theorizing about their potential designs.
Pretty much this. There are so many monster/horror archetypes that have yet to make their mark in a Darkstalkers game and I wish this video could've exploited a lot more.
You have a good idea for the roster. But, if I did the roster: -It would include all characters from past games including Dee and Anita (Adult). -I would bring out Marionette and Shadow for two new types of monsters (one can be a Djinn (genius) and the other a wendigo. -I would add Amingo and Tessa but Khaibit would be replaced by Rubi Heart. -The thing about Arthur's descendant is a very good idea and I would include it anyway.
Wow! This was an interesting roster concept for a future Darkstalkers game, especially with Dee being promoted to a full main antagonist and Anita teaming up with the other Darkstalkers to put him down; and including thematically fitting Capcom characters into their world like Tessa, Amingo, and Arthur. I have an Darkstalkers 4 roster idea but mine is themed around bringing in new monsters for a new generation, akin to Street Fighter 3's roster emphasizing the new challengers over the returning ones. The amount of characters I went with was 14 characters, the same amount as Night Warriors had but this would be split into 6 returning characters and 6 newcomers with two bosses for each side. I did think about setting it a few years after Vampire Savior's events, not sure about going with the 10 year time skip seen in Donovan's ending. I briefly considered putting Dee and Anita into my roster but I axed them because they would be too obvious of a choice, but I would be open to include them as future DLC. Maybe along with a story expansion similar to what Mortal Kombat 11 did. Returning Monsters: 1. Morrigan Aensland, Succubus 2. Demitri Maximoff: Vampire 3. Lord Raptor/Zabel Zarock: Zombie 4. B.B. Hood/Bulleta: Human 5. Hsien-Ko/Lei-Lei, Ghoul 6. Jon Talbain/Gallon: Werewolf 7. Jedah Dohma: Demon Noble * All returning characters would have their classic costumes and brand new costumes reflective of how much time has past since Vampire Savior's events. New Characters: 1. Hamanoke, a Kodama donning a body made up of pieces of trees, vines, and various greenery based on the fabled Japanese tree spirits. Its purpose is to protect the habitat their fellow kodamas inhabit from invaders and ones who would bring harm. 2. Erik Leroux, a phantom cursed with silence from a mask he wears inspired by Phantom of the Opera. 3. Isana, a Buddhist monk and Dark hunter who has the spirit of a Wendigo sealed within him after a confrontation went horribly wrong. And it comes out when he does certain super attacks. 4. Annabelle, a living marionette doll with the soul of a young woman trapped inside eventually driven insane. Inspired by Marionette the character. 5. Yuri Seto, a Gorgon who is skilled in snake themed martial arts. When fighting she can be aggressive and doesn't think much about strategy but she can when she wants to. She also loves her sister Thea with all her heart. 6. Thea Seto, a Gorgon monster and the older sister of Yuri originally belonging to the House of Gorgons in Makai as a noble. After the house was wiped out she and Yuri fled to Earth and took up residence in Greece. She is also skilled in a more Cobra themed martial arts, which is about precise strikes and waiting for the opponent to leave an opening. 7. Elibris, an entity who is balance and order incarnate and would the main final boss of the game. When he awakened from deep within the Earth's core he thinks the realms of Earth and Makai have become too powerful for their universe to withstand. So he makes it his mission to destroy all of the most powerful Darkstalkers and Dark hunters so balance between the realms' energies can be restored.
Oh God, it's coming. Is he gonna try and come up with original characters for this one? Cuz I've always thought that it would come to that in one of these non-crossover BTR's.
Tonight on Unsolved Mysteries UPDATE Yeah, by original characters, I meant actual OC's, like a skeleton necromancer or a ghost girl directed inspired by Ringu. Guess I was wrong.
Here’s a fun idea. What if some of the guest characters were basically comprised of capcom’s most monstrous and horror-esque characters like Akuma, monster hunter, Vergil or a resident evil character like Jill or wesker
While I can see Arthur making an appearance in the roster, the reason he just doesn't fit is because he isn't a monster, which is the main gimmick of the Darkstalkers franchise. Yeah, I know BB Hood is technically human, but she is a psychopath - a monster representing the worst of humanity. Some other monster characters that would fit much better would probably be a Dullahan - just another zombie but one that would utilize its head as a projectile for various attacks; or have its body take less damage when hit, but have it take double damage when the head is struck. Another spellcaster that could be added might be a Lich with necromancer-like abilities. A slime character that would be acidic and deal damage over time the longer the fight goes on. A goblin character that uses technology similar to that of Huitzil together with alchemical projectiles. A nine-tailed fox similar to Ahri from LoL that can challenge Morrigan in the sexy department (but I guess Felicia and John Talbain already fill the role of the human-animal hybrid for the furries out there). A Medusa-like character that uses poison and snakes. Lastly, another famous monster is Cerberus - just make a 3 headed dog that breaths fire.
Some new character ideas would be a slasher type (with cybernetics added), a humanoid mammoth creature that can have the ability to control the earth, a character that’s inspired by the wendigo, and many more!!
And maybe, if Capcom had the Balls to invite Square-Enix to have at least one Guest rep of theirs, then I felt like Vincent Valentine wouldn't feel out of place in the Darkstalkers Universe.
Actually there is a character in a fighting game based on a costume already. Dark Pit in smash bros. Sakurai made him after he directed Kid Icarus uprising after brawl because pit had a dark angel costume.
Loving this roster. Super happy that you decided on Amingo cuz he would’ve been my first newcomer choice. I also agree with crossing over with Ghosts n’ Goblins, though personally hated the way he plays in the MvC games. I’d rather go with Firebrand or one of the other Red Arremers, that way at least it represents the gargoyle archetype while still tying back to the original series.
ALL 16 ORIGINAL DARSKTALKERS + Tooth Fairy (Provacative Fairy who fights with dental equipment including drill and pliers) + Animitronic Robots (a trio of malfunctioning animal robots who attack by ripping parts from each other, including throwing each others heads at you) + Jinn (Wish granting creature who buries enemies under piles of gold and various other things people might wish for. Has a unique super for every character where he has a twisted wish unique to them) + Genie (Female counter part to Jinn, unlike Jinn she is actually trying to grant the wishes but is just really bad at it and her attacks are wishes that injury instead of help, her super is also character specific but, again, despite intending for good wishes, always ends badly for the other character) + Marionette (Unique move set now around dolls/marionettes) + Adult Anita (Psychic powers) + Nightmare - Freddy K inspired character, manipulates himself and the environment as if he's in a dream. + Shadow (Unique move set now around shadow)
Street Fighter and Darkstalkers are heavily implied to be the same world. Since we know Final Fight is in the Street Fighter universe, it also means that Saturday Night Slam Masters is part of the Street Fighter universe since it has Mike Haggar as a playable character. In Saturday Night Slam Masters 2, a character called Wraith is said to use magic derived from the Makai, the demon world of Darkstalkers.
Except Makai is a demon realm from actual Japanese mythology, so that doesn't necessarily mean Wraith has to be referencing the Darkstalkers version of Makai.
Amingo has been on my list for years, and so glad to see him represented on your list. A couple picks I had were original characters, and based off of legends or popular monsters. -Flatwoods monster -A slime girl -The Mobile Alabama Leprechaun. No seriously, have him pilot a "robot" suit made of wood. The hilarity of the original news story, and how it could be represented as a character would fit the humor of the Darkstalkers series. -I had a Ghouls and Ghosts pick as well, but it would be Red Arremer, aka Firebrand.
I’m glad you said what I feel regarding putting Dante in Darkstalkers. That would have been fine if Darkstalkers 4 came back closer to when it should have, but Dante is absolutely way too big for this series. It would be as bad as the Star Wars Fighter guest starring the roster of Soul Calibur IV.
Came back to stay that I still wish Ruby Heart, Amingo and Anita would make their first canon playable appearence in Darkstalkers 4. PS: The "Angel" concept for Lilith should be brought back to make her different from Morrigan. Yes that could be easily implememented into the story. ;p
y'know, I wonder if Thorgi would ever come back and make a "lets make a sequel" video with Darkstalkers, since it seems like a big struggle with this episode was not being able to put any fully new characters on the roster
Well, that's sort of the problem with Darkstalkers: It's not a very fleshed out universe seeing as it technically only has two games, and really only the latter expanded on the worldbuilding a bit more.
Personally I would prefer a few Original characters. A Slasher, The Thing (being like Double), we also need a straight up Ghost. Hell a Slime Person would be great as a character as a reference to The Blob.
What about a Wendigo, they’ve been getting a ton more focus in more recent horror stories and they have a ton of ideas that could work in making an interesting fighting game character(ice abilities, growing larger, and a generally feral feel to their normals). I’d imagine in terms of character they’re a character that always wants something out of life, but is never satisfied, this can be from food, to entertainment, to money, nothing ever makes them feel whole and it drives them crazy.
I would also maybe suggest also a true giant character. Not just a regular big individual, but a character who literally attacks the other character with oversized moves, maybe even being big enough that they take up part of the background. Like maybe attacking with their hands feet, and various small details. They are kind of a lethal joke where unlike most of the other darkstalkers, this one hardly fully gets directly hurt by the other members of the cast. Alternatively, if that seems more like a boss, maybe have it be one that changes size for certain special attacks, like say taking of a magic size suppressing ring for a super where they basically toy with their opponent using their massive ‘true’ size and then either flatten them with a open palmed swatting(like swatting a fly) or stepping on them with a giant shoe. I would also suggest her either being young, like a child, or maybe as a human who was transformed into a darkstalker level entity through a magic item or alien powers from makai.
I kinda want a devil may cry character on the roster but not Dante since he will outshine them. Lucia,Lady or Trish can fit in the game without outshining the game.
Maybe the first one, but the other two are NOT happening, especially Trish. Her appearance would have a similar amount of outshining to Dante given she's been one of the most popular DMC characters since the very first game.
Thank you for bringing up Haunting Ground/Demento and the Clock tower series. The names "Hewie" and "Alyssa" still echo in my mind, whenever I hear those games brought up.🧡🐕
I can definitely see Tessa fitting in well with a new Darkstalkers cast, but I'd prefer more classic horror and mythological creatures being made into new characters. But I can imagine Capcom would gut the cast putting like 7 or 8 characters in saying the animation takes so much work, making part of the original cast DLC (leaving others out to never return) and adding a FEW new characters. I should be more optimistic.
I'm sooo late to the party here, but here's how I might do this: Bump Pyron and Lilith to DLC. Leave out Arthur and Shadow. Make Dee an unlockable boss with Dimitri as an alternate unlockable Skin and Moveset when you beat arcade mode as him. Also, for the updated Huitzil, he can be Huitzil 2.0, rebuilt from ancient schematics using near future tech. That frees up five extra slots for new characters. I'd make them: 1) A Vodyanoi: A Russian river monster who sludges around the arena in a sort of amorphous blob (also, I believe, the original inspiration for the myth of The Baba Yaga.) 2) A Tengu: A Japanese mountain demon who would shapeshift into the form of a raven (a long overdue addition with a possible nod to the Hibiki family). 3) A Chupacabra: A Mexican goat vampire thing because, well, why not?* *You could also switch out the Chupacabra with a Djinn, a Golem, an Ifrit or some other cryptid. There's a bunch of them, and Capcom needs new blood.* 4) Sara Van Helsing: A modern day descendant of the famous vampire hunter whose backstory would be like if you crossed Arthur with a Belmont. 5) A time-traveller from a future over-run by the forces of the night who wants to change the past.
Congratulations Thorgi! By making this video you made me a Darkstalkers fan! Also I love how you made Shadow like a creepier version of Super Skrull with more powers! However really? Arthur? When Firebrand is right over there? You know, the playable character from Demon's Crest? Feels like a missed opportunity since Capcom made one Demon's Crest game and I really want another!
I always imagined what kinds of new monsters would show up but your approach to bringing in new characters who were already related to the series in some way makes a lot of sense. I myself would keep Anita as just the Carrie stand-in, with her telekinetic powers and maybe more of a murderous attitude as she is now prepared to kill her former protector
few ideas for dlc the 2 kids talbain was training: could be looking for him after his disappearance. it has been 10 years Necalli: nuff said asura: if not then some kind of oni character would make sense ryu: no not that one, the one from breath of fire. legit excuse to use a dragon samanosuke: see asura above and had time travel shenanigans in onimusha 3
I'd love a Onimusha character, but I'd pick Shoki over Samanosuke. Shoki is more in tune with his Oni powers and would probably have a decent story involving Bishamon.
This is a great roster for what Darkstalker 4 could be. Though, at least a few more monster archetypes that has not been represented yet would make it better. However, this is still the ideal roster for all the existing characters of the Darkstalker series.
More and more I think about it, this roster is amazing, but personally I'd make the roster like this. Base Game: Anakaris Bishamon Demitri Maximoff Felicia Jon Talbain Lord Raptor Morrigan Aensland Rikuo Sasquatch Victor von Gerdenheim Huitzil Pyron Donovan Baine Hsien-Ko Baby Bonnie Hood Lilith Aensland Q-Bee Jedah Dohma Marionette Shadow Anita *Oboro *Ozom *Belial Aensland *Relic *Dee Season Pass 1: *Ruby Heart *Amingo *SonSon III *Firebrand *The Wraith *Tessa Season Pass 2: *Leo *Mai-Ling *Kenji Ramon *Hauzer *Hydron *Kongou Season Pass 3: *Ravange *Lavia *Gi Gi *Blade *Scion Now for the explanations: -Oboro is the man originally known as Bishamon, that got possessed by the armor Hannya and the sword Kien in the first game. Later on, his wife saves him, but the cursed samurai still lives despite having no host. At the end of the last game, the man seals the cursed samurai. The story this time would be that the man discarded the name Bishamon due to the atrocities committed by the cursed samurai, changing it to Oboro, a callback to an alternate version of Bishamon in the games that had control over the armor. Just like in his intro he would look like a wandering monk who uses ritualistic weapons such as talismans, prayer beads and a staff to fend off his enemies. His story would be about defeating an unsealed Bishamon once and for all; -Ozom is Lord Raptor's boss who died in the beginning of Darkstalkers 3 by the hands of Jedah. He would come back due to story purposes explained below. He looks like a skeleton with a large robe covering him so I believe he'd work like a zoner type of character who also sets traps involving the summoning of souls and skeleton minions; -Belial Aensland is Morrigan's adoptive-father. He exiled Dimitri 100 years ago, and also died after the second game. He pretty much looks like a very buff demon, just picture Oni from SF4 and make him look more evil. He could certainly work as a Juggernaut kind of character. He also returns due to story reasons; -Relic is the winner from the Darkstalkers Resurrection Contest from years ago. Just from his looks, you can decipher that he could work as a grave robber. His story would be that Dee hired him to steal an artifact that can bring back people from different eras and dimensions. Doing so, he summons back characters such as Ozom, Belial, Jedah and Pyron, and not only that but Dee also makes them his minions in order to reach his goal of killing every Darkstalkers and decimating Makai; -It would also be revealed that Dee is a distant successor to Galnan, a Makai noble just like Jedah and Belial, explaining why such powerful people would be working under him. Unlocked after completing Story Mode; -Ruby Heart is the person from whom Relic stole the artifact that can bring people from different eras and dimensions. It makes sense that the character who brought every character in MvC2 would have this item. After the events of the story mode, the artifact would begin to crack and randomly pull different characters into the Darkstalkers universe, including Amingo and SonSon III; -This game needs an imp, so might as well use Firebrand. He's from Makai after all and a Ghosts 'n Goblins rep; -The Wraith is an undead wrestler from the final game of Slam Masters, that has connections to Makai, thus linking him to Darkstalkers; -Tessa is the first representative for Red Earth. Following her, all the future DLC characters would be from Red Earth, since both franchises are known to have real-life connections such as same artists and a comic book anthology named Maleficarum; -Not only would we get more characters for Season Pass 3, but also a new story mode just like MK11 Aftermath, where the final boss of Red Earth, Scion, would take control of the artifact from the previous story mode and fight the cast alongside his old and new minions.
I was REALLY hoping that Harry Grimoire (the kid from that terrible US cartoon) would make it. Then I realized that would be an awful idea, but then a terrible thought inside me said, "He could be the Dan of the series."
Out of all the fighting games that needs a come back Darkstalkers is one of them.
*AMEN*.
Indeed
Yes I want play it beaceaes hi score girl friend
100% true.
Absolutely! Darkstalkers is an amazing series!
In some versions of Darkstalkers there's a hidden character called Oboro Bishamon. It's basically what would happen if he had control over his possessed armor, and you can see his human form in the start and end of a match. It'd be cool to see this version of Bishamon in some way
we could also get Dark Talbain, the version of jon that lost himself to his werewolf instincts

@@KevinKess Thanks for the info.
A mad scientist character would be godly!
Fun fact Arthur in Project X Zone is canonically known as THE first and most legendary guy to have adventures through Makai
And they can also use that author armor from Canon spike . Give it less ammo a lot of magic and we got ourselves a Badass version
My suggestions for some new characters:
1. An Angel warrior, a creepy looking one covered in eyes
2. A dragon that changed into a humanoid form
3. A Yuki Onna / Snow Woman
4. A human wizard
5. A living statue
Regarding number 2 ,look up Xell Kreutz.
1.Bios from Forgotten Worlds.
Also a movie slasher,we need some
5. Weeping Angel from Doctor Who
Something blind.
You forgot Quarter Guy.
they wont. we want them to, but they wont.
I was also wondering if we could’ve got a Breath of Fire character in there as well to help bring that series back in any way like with Tessa and Red Earth.
Idk what capcoms algorithm looks like...but they always miss the mark.
JM Croft's been playing also and showcasing the game to a mostly new generation of FG players (his subscriber base is heavily DBFZ centric)
I'm surprised you didn't bring up Guinieve, the original concept for Lilith who was Morigan's angelic sister. I'm sure a good movement could be created for her.
*moveset
I like the idea of Marionette being a summon and stand character too as she's not just a creepy doll but a puppet master too
I’d absolutely LOVE to see a Darkstalkers 4 at some point.
@@derrickhaggard only amingo shows up

Here's what I want to know: Why not?
He was talking about Khaibit, the character that Menat’s costume is based on, not Menat
But I get what you mean

So yeah, THIS version of Bishamon could be Made into a full character, way different from previous incarnations, husing his Bo and Sutra prayers for martial arts and holy conjuring, thus covering both the role of Darkstalker Hunter and light wielder, while the former Bishamon could also be renamed using the actual name of the Armor and Sword (Hannya and Kannya, if i remember correctly), in a kind of Eddie/Zato-1 fashion
I'd take this over the Kaibito costume anytime, mostly because it'd be way too redundant with Anakaris.
Anyway, i agree pretty Much with every other choice, nice job!
Especially Amingo! Such a fun design, it's a shame to leave him in the Capcom Forgettarium :(

Neat idea. Only real gripe is the lack of real original characters
I really like the idea of Arthur's order of Holy Knights tho.

100% agree on the Donovan/Dee swap. Like a ‘Hold Start during character selection’ secret character. Wraith would be cool!!
With you're Arthur pick there is a capcom game with a grandson of arthur that also has a darkstalkers connection.
The game cannon spike a game with a couple of other capcom characters in a run and gun type game
In the game that Arthur has a more iron man type version of the Gold armor and in the game one of the secret characters is bb hood.
Oh yeah I think a traditional egg-head/little green man/grey alien should totally be a darkstalkers character already

Instead of Arthur, I personally would have gone with Firebrand.
Arthur but the one with the mecha armor from Cannon Spike
Same
With ghost n ghouls ressurection, an heroic human in the game like a shining knight would be nice.
@@yonnylayna9768 I was thinking the same thing when thinking of what this new Arthur design would give it less mech and more magic .
Red earth. Another awesome and under loved property. That makes a lot of sense ghosts and goblins ghouls and ghosts they fit
@@johndewberryiii9925 I just wished it had a port in the modern day.
DLC?

The Sphere Hunter and Leon Massey too
Ya know, I could see Dimetrescu being a fun guest fighter for this game, what with being an attractive monster lady in a franchise known for them, especially since with modern 3d models the cartoonish squash and stretch will probably be reduced.
You know what would make this game even better? If Capcom teamed up with Arc System make the 3D models look and be as expressive as they're sprites from the older titles.
Even better would be if Morrigan somehow kept her original sprite as an alternate costume.

Phantom of the opera
La catrina
El chupacabras
Slime
Monster Clown
Living dolls

first of all, amazing video.
secondly, here’s some ideas for characters: (not counting ones you already mentioned)
pre-existing:
Ruby Heart and Son-Son from Marvel vs Capcom 2
Dark Talbain (version of Jon Talbain overcome by his werewolf instincts, making him the evil-ryu/devil-jin of the game
Kage from Street Fighter V (he might’ve been removed from existence in the street fighter universe, but since everyone always suggests Akuma as a guest character, i wanted to do someone else from Street Fighter and Kage made the most sense)
Arakune from Blazblue (i don’t really feel i need to explain the reason for this one)
The witch from the comics, using her Black Cat helper to make her a puppet fighter
Outside Ideas:
A chimaera-lady who can transform into a full Chimaera for her supers
A gargoyle who can turn parts of his body into stone
a Gorgon
a Dulhan (human like entity that can remove it’s head, there are already plenty of images of this online)
A biblically accurate Angel (someone else already suggested this, but it’s too good to pass up)
a dryad/Treant (living tree, make them a charge character)
a Spartoi (greek undead soldiers born from dragon teeth)
a grave-robber/dungeon-raider who fights using magic artefacts
That grave robber idea is actually kinda fire. Just some Indiana Jones-type guy or chick who gains massive power through the artifacts they find and are being hunted for it, or simply decide to hunt with them.

GALAXY BRAIN🧘♂️🌌
So samba de amigo?
30:15 ish: Actually, I believe that Dark Pit (who would later join the Smash roster in SSB4) from Kid Icarus: Uprising was inspired by the "fallen angel" black winged alt for Pit in Smash Bros Brawl. Though I'm not quite sure that's what you're describing, a direct fighting game->fighting game costume->character jump. Mortal Kombat has probably already done it a thousand times over by this point though
Edit: Seeing Thorgi lament the lack of Darkstalkers stuff as well as pleading for them to rerelease Red Earth/old arcade games is kind of amusing in hindsight, given that (aside from the sf6 teaser) that was their big announcement of that feburary stream
I was literally thinking that.

Ruby Heart: Originally supposed to be in the game, but, didn't want to overshadow it! Also comes with a free ghost ship stage!
SonSon III : From SonSon(Basically a female monkey King) Free gender flipping costumes, for the entire cast!

I really, really like the picks. Wow. This video left me feeling really good inside. Like a nice complete pack of goodness in one.
I would play the heck out of a new Darkstalkers game. I am obsessed with this series, but I haven’t really had the chance to truly play it.
Some ideas for new characters
1. A Chupacabra that gets a ridiculous Freakazoid type buff when he drinks any type of blood
2. A Terracotta soldier that holds the souls of some kind of ancient imperial war
3. A mismatched Dinosaur that is trying to bring back his people
4. A Wyvern princess
5. A Chinese Guardian Lion (Who may or may not be related to the terracotta soldier)
6. Some sort of Naga
7. A superstitious bounty hunter from the human world
8. Bigfoot, as a legendary Darkstalker
9. A descendant of Merlin (NOT HARRY)
10. Fujin and Raijin (as brothers or lovers i’m not sure)
Um Bigfoot already exist in Darkstalkers and his name is Sasquatch
42:00 as you were getting ready to announce Arthur, I was thinking, you should use Ghosts and Goblins.
But I was thinking definitely include Firebrand the Red Arremer.
I gonna say this, if Darkstalkers and Street fighter are conected, they NEED to add Necro to the game, he is the most Darkstalker'ish character in the SF saga
His skills are too similar to Victor's with the stretching and electricity. But it would be cool if the game had an assist system and he could be Victor's assist, or Victor could have some nod to Necro to establish a relation.
so many props for not including Dante, because you are right, adding Dante would make him overshadow the other characters.

Darkstalkers Reborn (IV)
Could you imagine
Wey can only dream.
Rebirth would have fit the theme of the series.
But, if I did the roster:
-It would include all characters from past games including Dee and Anita (Adult).
Returning Monsters:
1. Morrigan Aensland, Succubus
2. Demitri Maximoff: Vampire
3. Lord Raptor/Zabel Zarock: Zombie
4. B.B. Hood/Bulleta: Human
5. Hsien-Ko/Lei-Lei, Ghoul
6. Jon Talbain/Gallon: Werewolf
7. Jedah Dohma: Demon Noble
* All returning characters would have their classic costumes and brand new costumes reflective of how much time has past since Vampire Savior's events.
New Characters:

Not really
Except Makai is a demon realm from actual Japanese mythology, so that doesn't necessarily mean Wraith has to be referencing the Darkstalkers version of Makai.
Amingo has been on my list for years, and so glad to see him represented on your list.
A couple picks I had were original characters, and based off of legends or popular monsters.
-Flatwoods monster
-A slime girl
-The Mobile Alabama Leprechaun.
That was probably one of the bigger mistakes from Namco Bandai.
@@danielramsey6141. That maneuver REALLY didn't work out. Then Soul Calibur 5 came along and caused a reboot of the whole franchise. Ouch!

What if the ghost was very trap based and named Sissel? Food for thought.
slasher designs in fighting games are always top tier B) Q from street fighter comes to mind. also shadow does count as a ghost?
@@heehomgee4671 THANK YOU. I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT. I WOULD LOVE THAT IDEA.
The way how you explain these worlds possibly connecting, make me want this game to happen . . . and I've never even played Darkstalkers.
I'm sooo late to the party here, but here's how I might do this:
Bump Pyron and Lilith to DLC.
I'd make them:
1) A Vodyanoi: A Russian river monster who sludges around the arena in a sort of amorphous blob (also, I believe, the original inspiration for the myth of The Baba Yaga.)
2) A Tengu: A Japanese mountain demon who would shapeshift into the form of a raven (a long overdue addition with a possible nod to the Hibiki family).
3) A Chupacabra: A Mexican goat vampire thing because, well, why not?*
*You could also switch out the Chupacabra with a Djinn, a Golem, an Ifrit or some other cryptid. There's a bunch of them, and Capcom needs new blood.*
4) Sara Van Helsing: A modern day descendant of the famous vampire hunter whose backstory would be like if you crossed Arthur with a Belmont.
I myself would keep Anita as just the Carrie stand-in, with her telekinetic powers and maybe more of a murderous attitude as she is now prepared to kill her former protector
few ideas for dlc
the 2 kids talbain was training: could be looking for him after his disappearance. it has been 10 years
Necalli: nuff said
asura: if not then some kind of oni character would make sense
ryu: no not that one, the one from breath of fire. legit excuse to use a dragon
samanosuke: see asura above and had time travel shenanigans in onimusha 3
NECALLI!!! Straight up drawn over the Wolverine sprite. Bing, bang, boom, done!
A hype roster to be sure. Though, after you mentioned Ruby Heart as a DLC fighter, I have to wonder who else you'd like to see as DLC?

Now for the explanations:
-Oboro is the man originally known as Bishamon, that got possessed by the armor Hannya and the sword Kien in the first game. Later on, his wife saves him, but the cursed samurai still lives despite having no host. At the end of the last game, the man seals the cursed samurai. The story this time would be that the man discarded the name Bishamon due to the atrocities committed by the cursed samurai, changing it to Oboro, a callback to an alternate version of Bishamon in the games that had control over the armor. Just like in his intro he would look like a wandering monk who uses ritualistic weapons such as talismans, prayer beads and a staff to fend off his enemies. His story would be about defeating an unsealed Bishamon once and for all;
-Ozom is Lord Raptor's boss who died in the beginning of Darkstalkers 3 by the hands of Jedah. He would come back due to story purposes explained below. He looks like a skeleton with a large robe covering him so I believe he'd work like a zoner type of character who also sets traps involving the summoning of souls and skeleton minions;
-Belial Aensland is Morrigan's adoptive-father. He exiled Dimitri 100 years ago, and also died after the second game. He pretty much looks like a very buff demon, just picture Oni from SF4 and make him look more evil. He could certainly work as a Juggernaut kind of character. He also returns due to story reasons;
-Relic is the winner from the Darkstalkers Resurrection Contest from years ago. Just from his looks, you can decipher that he could work as a grave robber. His story would be that Dee hired him to steal an artifact that can bring back people from different eras and dimensions. Doing so, he summons back characters such as Ozom, Belial, Jedah and Pyron, and not only that but Dee also makes them his minions in order to reach his goal of killing every Darkstalkers and decimating Makai;
-It would also be revealed that Dee is a distant successor to Galnan, a Makai noble just like Jedah and Belial, explaining why such powerful people would be working under him. Unlocked after completing Story Mode;
-Ruby Heart is the person from whom Relic stole the artifact that can bring people from different eras and dimensions. It makes sense that the character who brought every character in MvC2 would have this item. After the events of the story mode, the artifact would begin to crack and randomly pull different characters into the Darkstalkers universe, including Amingo and SonSon III;
-This game needs an imp, so might as well use Firebrand. He's from Makai after all and a Ghosts 'n Goblins rep;
-The Wraith is an undead wrestler from the final game of Slam Masters, that has connections to Makai, thus linking him to Darkstalkers;
-Tessa is the first representative for Red Earth. Following her, all the future DLC characters would be from Red Earth, since both franchises are known to have real-life connections such as same artists and a comic book anthology named Maleficarum;
-Not only would we get more characters for Season Pass 3, but also a new story mode just like MK11 Aftermath, where the final boss of Red Earth, Scion, would take control of the artifact from the previous story mode and fight the cast alongside his old and new minions.
I’m a supporter of Darkstalkers now. Til death do us part.
I was REALLY hoping that Harry Grimoire (the kid from that terrible US cartoon) would make it. Then I realized that would be an awful idea, but then a terrible thought inside me said, "He could be the Dan of the series."
