Nice reaction and analysis. Emma Kok was asked to do 90 concerts all over the world in lots of countries by famous conductor Andre Rieu when she was 15 year old and left school. She performs for 10.000 people every evening. When Emma was 16 a music producer gave her the song Dancing On The Stars. The music producer wrote that song 20 years ago before Emma was born. He waited for the right singer to come along and that singer was Emma. It seems like the song was written for her but it was written before Emma was born. Now Emma is 16 years old Andre Rieu asked Emma to do a second round of 90 concerts all over the world. She now does world school online and travels the world with Andre Rieu and his orchestra. Emma had a paralyzed stomach since she was a 9 month old baby. She has to be on feeding tubes 22 hours a day. She has to have the feeding tubes replaced every 5 months in hospital which is a painful procedure. She runs out of energy quickly so sometimes her family wheels her around in a wheelchair. Emma set up a foundation to collect money to research Gastroparesis and maybe even cure it. A female surgeon in hospital who also has a paralyzed stomach leads Emma's foundation. Conductor Andre Rieu with 90 concerts a year is the 6th best selling artist in the world in a line up of Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift etc. P.s. Andre Rieu always chooses very talented young people to sing with him. Check out 10 year old Amira Willighagen singing opera with Andre Rieu and his orchestra. Amira Willighagen won Hollands Got Talent singing opera at 9 years old. She never had singing lessons from vocal coaches. She was self taught by watching TH-cam videos. She won a trip to Las Vegas and performed on stage in Las Vegas singing opera songs. Andre Rieu saw Amira singing on tv and asked her to perform on the same stage as Emma Kok did. Amira has been giving half her earnings away from singing opera to build playgrounds for poor children in South Africa. I believe she already built 19 or 20 playgrounds. Amira Willighagen is from The Netherlands but moved to South Africa with her brother and mom who is originally from South Africa. Amira is 20 years old now and studies classical singing and orchestral conducting at university. Amira sings opera, crossover, musical and Disney songs. Amira is a self taught child prodigy on the same level as Angelina Jordan. The video of Amira singing O Mio Babbino Caro with Andre Rieu reached 93 million views. This performance will blow you away like it does with most reactors. TH-cam search is "Amira Willighagen O Mio Babbino Caro Andre Rieu"
For people that say she plays on people be talking about her paralyzed stomach. But we have to remember she has a foundation to raise funds for finding a cure. It's not so people think, "oh poor girl. We have to admire her singing". We do have to admire her singing because it's beautiful.
Emma is fluent in Dutch, German and English. Tjeerd Oosterhuis wrote this song over 20 years ago, but shelved it. He gave it to Emma and Andre who adopted it to her voice and the orchestra. No one else has ever sung it. A few years earlier Emma sang "Let Me Be a Butterfly," at a music festival (English lyric version). Also "Strijder" (Warrior), official version, with English. We all share your love of Emma. Thank you.
Emma Kok ,in a sense is, the entire world's child , that we are all so proud of, because in a world filled with so much chaos, she is everything that is good, she's humble, respectful, and loving and innocent. We all want to be a part of her journey and protect her. She's more than just a entertainer, she's special and she is a very rare gift for all to see and hear and enjoy. There's only love and you can feel this the moment she come out on stage and the entire time she's preforming you feel that magical moment and like her, you don't want it to end. Great job Emma.
It certainly is an original song. The composer, Tjeerd Oosterhuis, produced it about 20 years ago (long before Emma was born) and it has been on a shelf, tilll Emma came in his studio: she loved it and got permissin to took it with her to a rehearsal with André Rieu. This is the final arrangement André Rieu and Emma has made of it. Yes, they have done this together, André Rieu was very clear about that in an interview. He has taken Emma under his wings: this year (2024) and next year (2025) Emma will be on tour with him and his orchestra. And thanks to André Rieu, Emma will have her own concerts on 21 October 2025 in the monumental Royal Concert Hall in Amsterdam. The venue was sold out within 3 hours(!) after a very excited Emma made the announcement on Dutch tv. And you know what get me the most? Hear a young girl (Emma is 16 now), who feels sick on a daily base her entire life, is being connected to feeding pumps for at least 22 hours a day since she was a little baby, has never ever had the opportunity to eat a proper meal due to her condition, is experiencing pain very regularly.... hear her sing with confidence "It is good to be alive". That is so, so impressive.
I couldn't agree more with your comments on Emma's amazing relationship with her audience. She is so open & connected to them that ii only natural that they find her so relatable & endearing. I have greatly enjoyed your reactions, please continue your great work. And please stay safe. Best regards from Brooklyn, USA.
Singing so beautifully brings life, love, and hope to the singer and the listeners. Thank you Dounia for your analysis you too are a beautiful soul and I love to listen to you. Thank you.
Tjeerd Oosterhuis who composed this song, had it gaining dust for 20 years. He couldn't find someone who he thougt could sing it as he wanted. When he heard Emma singing the first time he dusted of the song. The song was perfect for her.
Subscribed!! Emma does it all. She makes you laugh and cry at the same time. She makes you speechless and at the same time I can not stop talking about her. She's truly a gift to the world. Unfortunately there is a flipside to all this marvel and grandeur. She isn't doing well at all this moment. She's struggling hard mentally with her condition. Not able to eat like you and me, not being able to be spontaneous, always being conscious about managing your energy throughout the day and always carrying this bag with your feeding pumps. Going through all this during puberty is tough. I admire her for being open about this. We generally don't look beyond the facade that is portrayed to us. She opens our eyes to reality. I think it's the hardship, struggle and pain she has to endure her entire life that we hear in her voice. That and her talent and determination is what makes her stand out. I will share a few of my favorite videos of Emma: 'Out Here On My Own', sung at home at an early age (13/14). th-cam.com/video/-8K9i3N7xO4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared 'Father', performed during a WW2 memorial and very respectfully done: th-cam.com/video/y554GsqMHj8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XTcJTAyMPurkM37E 'Imagine', a more recent performance during a tv talkshow and very appropriate in these days. John Lennon would definitely approve her rendition: th-cam.com/video/xpAIqyDybhk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wcWh3IDhma42UaBg I glad you got your photography booking going again. It would be great if you could do a photoshoot with Emma one day. Stay safe.
She is closely accepted by the 70 or so people in the orchestra, not as a teenager but as one of them. She learns constantly from that contact with various musicians and Andre coaches her too. The result we hear!
Beautifull admiring reaction, thank you. The song was written by Tjeerd 20 years ago. It was never released. When Emma visited his studio (he wrote and produced songs specifically for her, like Strijder = Warrior and Laat mij een vlinder zijn =Let me be a butterfly) he thought of this song and made her listen to it. She liked it very much and took it to Andre. Andre and his team arranged it for her and the ochestra n this is the result. She is touring the world with Andre, not only Europe, but also Middle East, South America, North America. They do 90 concerts per year, usually for over 10.000 people and they will continue next year. Besides the concert with Andre she sang at multiple Liberation and Commemoration concerts. She says singing is her medicin. Those moments on stage is the singer, nothing else. Keep searching on her own Fanpage for songs she did or on Andre's official website. I'd love to see more reactions to what she does. Greetings from The Netherlands, Jacques ❤
Emma Kok is a gift that we 'DO NOT' deserve, her voice is angelic and powerful, her inner strength shows us that we have no excuses for not pushing to succeed everyday. Emma does this for herself and for all of us. She shows us that we can do anything we want. I have been watching all I can about her and I have become a huge fan and am looking forward to an album from her should it come out. I want to see her when and if they come back to America. She is a blessing to us all.
Dounia, you, dear lady, are wonderful. Your heart is exquisite. I pray that you are blessed in 2025 beyond what you can ask or think. I send you an appreciative, warm hug from America. Your articulation of Emma’s skill and of her essence was perfect. The world needs to know not only about Emma. They also need to know about you.
Thanks for your PRO reaction , I subscribed for you 👍. We went to the concert of Andre Rieu at Maastricht , right in front of the stage at about 35 meters distance. Just as Emma started singing, an emotional bomb exploded in the square with the song DANCING ON THE STARTS and afterwards VOILA which earned a standing ovation for several minutes. Her beautiful voice touches your soul with the support of the orchestra, an evening to remember for a livetime. . Tomorrow we will go to the Christmas concert of Andre Rieu in the MECC in Maastricht, the Netherlands. There Emma sings (let it go from Frozen Disney).
