London Underground: *Woven into existing infrastructure, organically adapted to the requirements of a changing city for 150 years* Jon sitting in front of a blank sheet: "I want that"
Ah, I see Jon puts as much forethought into accessibility as many real world architects. 😆 As somebody who uses a wheelchair to get around, I watched this particular video with a bit of horror at first, but then cackling like a madwoman as Jon had to belatedly cram in non-stair options. After watching this, this game is definitely on my to-get list, even though I am pretty sure I will go mad playing it.
I like that the game subtly tries to induce the player into that by having no options, then suddenly having all the options all at once, just to create that problem that really does exist without demanding the player reproduce it.
Jacob Jaeger-Mathis It’s a fun way to get people to think about just how complex this sort of design process is. I will be the first to admit there were a ton of accessibility issues I was never aware of until I needed to contend with them myself. (Brick sidewalks always seemed so pretty before I had to wheel across them!) Thumbs up to the game devs on this one, for getting people to think about this stuff!
My college really reeeeallly pushed being accessible to people with disabilities and there was exactly one kid who was having none of it. No legs and he rolled around on a skateboard faster than I could walk (and I didn't even need the cane and leg brace back then.) Took the stairs whether it was busy enough that you had to wait for the elevator. Cool guy. I only ever felt sorry for him once, and that's when I found out he was getting a philosophy degree.
You know, aside from Jon's unseemly attraction to one-way systems, I feel a bit like I'm watching in time lapse how several of the more deeply stupid subway stations in NYC got built and evolved over time (looking at you, 42nd St./Times Square and 34th St./Penn Station, specifically). Excellent.
Yes, but it's a bi-directional roundabout (one way except for the passengers that are directed to go in the opposite direction). Are we sure perception is the only negative trait Jon has?
Does anyone remember how he played Cities Skylines? Bc i immediately have started crying from fear when i have seen that jon uses ONE WAY ROUND here too.
Fun fact, there's a neighbourhood here in Buenos Aires called Parque Chas that works much like Jon's one way system, it is said that people get trapped in the circular street layout and sometimes never come out. Well not that fun, but interesting
@@AnarchicKhajiit It's just an urban legend... i hope, but since most of the city uses a simple grid system the circular layout of the streets tends to confuse people. It is true that, for example, some old taxi drivers won't drive into the place, they'll leave you just outside.

As someone who lives in Southeast Texas, the entire concept of metro stations (or passenger trains in general) is alien to me, which in turn makes this type of game really interesting.
