Hello Painters 🎨 Using one of my own paintings as an example I’m going to show you what I do to improve my work and paint better paintings. After watching this video you’ll be able to use the same method to improve your artwork and paint great paintings. Thanks for watching and happy painting 🎨
I so look forward to utilizing all your wonderful tips and techniques. I love your beautiful art, style and your calm voice is very zen and soothing after a long day. Thank you! 🙏
I love that you make painting so much more than just technique; it is something you have to find within yourself. All to often it doesn't manifest itself and will only come out if you don't force it.
I really like the first piece, but once you tweaked it, I really got to see the composition change for the better ! Your teachings are easy to follow and very informative. Thank you once again. Have a beautiful week.
Your artistic talent is truly remarkable, and I'm in awe of the beauty you create. Please continue to bless us with more of your captivating artwork. The way you showcase the colors and skillfully blend and utilize them is truly commendable. Your attention to detail and mastery of color bring your paintings to life in the most extraordinary way. Thank you for generously sharing your creative gifts with the world. Your contributions are deeply valued and cherished by those who have the privilege of experiencing your art. Keep up the fantastic work, and may your artistic journey continue to inspire and uplift all who encounter it.
Love the idea a painting just needs a break. I often come back to, what I used to consider, past failures. Much kinder and more pleasant to see them as in need of a little time. Thank you so much Marie Louise.
You have a relaxed and practical approach to solving problems with your paintings. I certainly need to learn this approach. I tend to be a bit 'precious' with my paintings, then become disheartened when I don't get the results I want.
I’ve been catching up on some of your videos. Wish I’d seen this one earlier. “Same size shapes” I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my paintings. Why they all seemed to look the same. Now I know. Brilliant! That one piece of advice just made me grow into an even better artist. Cheers from New England!!
Marie Louise’ thank you so much’. I could watch your videos all day. And improve accordingly thank you for sharing your insights and procedures of your work
Great advice. I watch a lot of painting videos and many of them are not in real time. They have been speeded up and the narration is recorded later. I often find myself trying to paint at the same speed as I see in the videos which is ridiculous of course. I have to constantly remind myself to slow down....step back...observe...and start again.
Thank you for sharing this, it’s great to see someone as talented as you have to re think and how you do it. I loved the painting at the beginning but once you made the changes it really was WOW! Love it. The colour pallet is beautiful 🥰❤️
I could have watched this for an hour as I find your videos quite relaxing and enjoy watching the painting and editing process. Also, I appreciated your previous videos on how to paint on larger canvases (part one and two) with layers and texture. I would be interested in more insight and ideas on how to effectively scale up and work larger. In this video, about how large were your canvases?
Another amazing lesson! It was cool to see you work through that. I try to walk away.... but I want to change my mindset from hating myself because I can't get this exactly right the first.... or 10th🙄😊 time, but instead think of it this way. And I definitely need to work on my slowing down, being more patient, with the painting..... and myself... I'm not good at showing myself grace.. giving myself grace...ugh, see, I can't even remember the wording 🙄😳🥴🤦🏻♀️my brain is mush🤦🏻♀️😬 But... to remember its not a race.. I'm in a significant amount of pain, always, but anytime this body allows me even a bit less pain... no pain is not an option, but I'm used to that, so please know I'm not saying that as a 'oh poor me' because I truly am not, I'm just over-explaining and overthinking, as you can see😊... I'm super thankful to be able to spend my down time watching so many artists, like the amazing Marie Louise❤, and when I do, I only feel happy and inspired and soooooooo excited for the next day, even just moments, when I get the best gift of this body easing my pain just enough and almost more important, adding a burst of energy so that I can work on something. But, not knowing how long it will last, does male me feel pressure to hurry and do it ALL, PERFECTLY, right then🤦🏻♀️😳🤣 so, I need to have my ideas broken down into bits I can do here and there... if I have longer, I can do more, if not, thats ok too, it'll give me and my painting a little break from each other and come back with fresh eyes. I'll of course be peeking in on it any time I glance over or walk by it.. I work on the kitchen table in a little house, so it can't totally hide from me🤣🤣😊 but, this is something I really need to work on... maybe write down ways to break steps down, a better plan. Art , only trying it in my older age, is an amazing therapy for me, so I want to be able to do it, even if only occasionally now, and truly enjoy it, not be frustrated or mad at myself for not suddenly becoming Monet in the 20min I had to paint😊🙄🤣😏 Thank you so much for your lovely reminders my friend... they are appreciated more then I can put into words🥰
Love your paintings and style. Thanks for sharing your tips. Would your technique and tips also be suitable for oil painting which takes longer to dry? I tend to paint large canvases although I’m a beginner and am worried about the paint drying too fast and being unable to “redo” my inevitable mistakes.
Thank you Marie Louise, again a video where we can learn a lot from it. I like the blue one how it was it was powerfull But wen you chanche it i sow how much bether the compesition became. I was make 1month ago 1 landscape from youre videos and im strugling to.There was to much competition between sky ànd foreground. So i chanche many times the sky,but it was not enough. To much atention/collours in the middle ground and foreground to. I chanche the middleground ore there was hang fog between the hills on the background and plants on the foreground. Its much bether now and it have more peace ( i see the same in youre blue painting now ) I strugling for 3 weeks and and take a break why im not shore shall i varnish it...ore must i do something on it...? Most of time the answere will be come afther a wile. Few daysago i became a call from a very good friend ho is a artlover. He told me this painting dont goes out my head since i saw it in youre studio. He have a house in France and if he wake up early in the morning he see the mountains and the fog what is there. My painting reminds him on tat place, and he want to buy it 😊 What i try to say, every painting is for someone. A painting must touch youre heart and tell you something. The blue painting in the beginning was good in my eyes and very strong, afther you chanche it,it becàmes romantic. For both of them there are buyers for shore ho love them. But for you as painter Marie Louise you must feel satisfaction wen youre finnishd it. I like to see it how it is on the end. Good luck
Great information! Sometimes I finish a painting and it goes on the wall. Then.....6mths later it's "in need of a few tweaks"!😮My daughter says that the only way they're safe is if they are sold or removed from my house!😂
Hi- thank you for your videos; they are very helpful and enjoyable as well as engaging. I am writing to inform you that Golden Paint Company is discontinuing a color that (I think ) you use often. That color is Quinacradone Nickle Azo Gold. I love the color as well so am stocking up. Regards from Pittsburgh 😊
This is exactly the kind of landscape style I'm looking for, in my work, can this be done in oils as well ?? Takes time to get the right balance with layers and texture but so rewarding and theraputic , you have a very nice vision of your work 😁👌👌
Oh. This is lovely. When I have made a mistake I just leave it. Like the kids. I hate that attitude of mine. Great to see others deal with that too. :) I think what you need in this painting - something weird, crazy, unexpected even by you. :) I don't know exactly. Your paintings are like visual poetry. And another thing - is it going to be completely abstract, semi- abstract or more representative? All 3 are fine with me, but the first gives you the most freedom, I think. When I am stuck with a painting I try thumbnail drawings. Sometimes helps. Success!❤
Hello - when you ask for comments, I will not change the two foreground darks. I think it's the proportions for sky you should change. Make the sky more wild from the middle and to the top. This will take youre lake/fjord in a much moore active for the complet compositions. That's was my thoughts before I saw what yoy choose to do. I like your landscape paintings, they are strong and demanding. Not abstract, but cut down to what all fantastic landscapes realy are: Connection between your own standig point on earth direct to heaven.
She was wondering if we could spot what was not working to her liking about the painting. The design element of placing two very similar shapes in the foreground are what she did not enjoy. She was simply asking if we could find anything we thought would improve the piece, curious if we viewed this element as needing improvement too.

How to decide to paint on Canvas or paper? And what can be the disadvantage of each
Check my latest video where I go in-depth on the Pros and Cons for canvas vs. paper.
Are you painting on paper or unstretched canvas?
The ones in this video are on stretched canvas
Congratulations you are very good, it would be nice if there were subtitles in Italian. 🤩🤩🤩🤩😘
More large paintings and "editing" them, please!

No, I don’t see anything wrong with it, why do you ask? ❤

Colour
Foreground is disjointed from background
more contrast light on the sky .
