This subwoofer is amazing, musical and powerful, what supriced me the most was not the power, it was the refinement, sq and how tight this subwoofer sounds, i had b&w asw610 and Arendal is even tighter despite being larger, and sounds much better as well, and have plenty of headroom,
I've had a 1723 2V (their flagship) for 1 1/2 months now on my main system. I like it enough that I've ordered a 1723 1S for my office stereo now. It'll be total overkill for my 6 square meter office, but I don't care. I love its big brother so much, I need one more of them in my life. I wish they made regular speakers that were more high-end; hopefully someday.
Your reviews are amazing and very very accurate,I mean you clarify everything the consumer wants to know. i will be glad to hear a review from you for 1723 S monitors.
Great review, Arendal has fantastic speakers. Just ordered the 1723 monitors LCR and two pairs of 1723s surrounds for my theater. Can’t wait to finish my theater and install them.
@@themorg3300 I think you'll be super happy with the outcome, personally I'm not a big theater buff but my friends that are never regret what they spent on sound weather it be under $1000 or over $20k and if you have a family it's definitely worth it as it makes movie night with the family that much cooler!
I have been thinking of buying the 1723 2V, but after hearing you talk about 1723 1S I think this is more in line for my needs. So thank you for this review 🙂
Love the channel! So glad to see someone reviewing these subwoofers. Thoughts for a similar room (12X12X9) with 60/40 usage (movies/music). Focus more on accurate bass quality (vs just SPL). I understand how 2 subs are a great choice for bass coverage, but debating if a single 1723 1s would be a better option vs 2 1961 1s? Arendal's price increase on 11/1 makes purchasing a 2nd 1723 s1 probably out of the question. Thanks.
Either option is a considerable amount of bass for a room that size :D. I'm going to go against the grain here and say if it were me I think I would do the 1 in a room that size to keep that front wall from looking "too busy", to me visual aesthetics are very important.
Great work on your videos! I'm actually looking forward to receiving my 1723 1S today. I was in the market for an SB3000, but because of inflated retail costs in Australia, it's nearly $1000AUD more expensive than the 1723 1S (even taking into account the cost of shipping to Sydney), so the decision was a no brainer for me. Cheers
oh wow that was a good price! I just looked them up; with shipping to AUS it's USD $1887 (AUD $2740)plus import tax (roughly 200-220AUD [on 1499USD]) as it's over $1000. An SVS SB3000 at the moment is AUD $2249...If they ended up being the same price I'd get the Arendal 1723 S1 without actually hearing it.
I order the 1723 1s yesterday, its going to be intresting to try it out, i was in the market for the svs sb3000 as well, the Arendal just seems better for sq
@@8000860 becouse a sealed sub will offen be easier to integrete for music, also takes up less space, 1723 1s has more than enough power in my room, i barely need to push it, but thats not whats most impressive with it, this subwoofer just dissapears in the sound, i have never experince a thing like this before, this subwoofer is mindblowing good😊
Lighting looks good. It is a lot of color but it's not distracting. I didn't think your past videos looked bad anyhow. Loved the nod to Thomas and stereo with the anecdotal reference at the end. Just realized that's what I love most about Thomas. His story telling abilities. I'd listen to that man tell a story about anything
Thank's Eric, they didn't look bad but kind of grainy and I was trying to fix that and add some depth. I'm glad you got the Thomas reference :D I was worried people may not understand the story time aspect lol. Yeah he is killer at that, sometimes I just put on his old video's while I'm cooking food and I almost feel like I'm listening to an audio book.
It's the best game ever! I have still to this day never played a God of War game, I want to but I just never get around to it. I mostly play Mass Effect 3 or niche JRPG games.
@@NemoPropaganda Right on! Fairly early in God of War (2018) the snake that eats its own tail Ouroboros shows up and is Huge! When it speaks I remember the bass from my old Klipsch subwoofer was so awesome. I am thinking about getting this Arendal and I love that you pointed out the manual saying if you have 2, to stack them. I was planning on getting 2 and now I'm fairly certain I'm choosing this one because that stack sounds great.
I have this subwoofer in satin white and I really like it! I’m happy that the app is out. Note that the white comes with a black grille only. They told me they’re working on finding the right material for a white grille. So for me, I’m unsure about where to point the driver or if it even matters. You liked it more when it was pointed at the mlp? And if it’s placed in a corner, should the driver be pointed at the mlp, to the right of the room (if placed in the front left corner), or straight ahead? Did you play with any of the slopes or peq?
the cool thing is playing around with placement is free :). Every room is a little big different so you just have to play with it and see which way you like it :). Most people will probably be very happy with it in the normal orientation.
After some research. I think I'll end up with 1961 1V. I don't want to miss out on the lower frequencies on movies/games and 1723 1V will probably be too big for my room.
@@el_projects sealed vented have different sounds, as long as you like the sound of vented I'm sure you'll be happy. Personally I love vented subs, especially for movies/gaming.
Thanks for this review! You confirmed my decision to buy one before the price increase at the end of today. I cannot get to it until I return from my trip home for the holidays, such fun ahead! Also can you describe how well or easy it was for you to dial it into your room? (Even though it is too big for your room) I assume you went "by ear" as usual? It has an enormous amount of adjustability-somewhat overwhelming for the novice of these new electronics. (I am a 66 yo just learning about this new stuff as I replace my 20 year old HT equipment.) Also FYI, I was able to download the Arendal app from the iOS app store on my iPhone. I certainly appreciate that you made the FIRST review of this subwoofer available! I hope you friend enjoys the new sub.
Hey Esylsten, so for me the app controlled DSP subwoofers have always taken a bit of time to get the best settings but I never mention it in the videos because of the app it's really easy to make the changes. This video should help you get the basics down th-cam.com/video/aZbzvanu3vA/w-d-xo.html without having to change every single setting.
Great review! Appreciate the comparison to the SB3000 as I have been going between the two and as far as I could tell on paper, the Arendal seems to win. Hoping to get two for my upcoming theater!
I know am late to the party.. but I have 1 1961 1s and I love it. Just for fun I bought 2 xtz subwoofer 10.17 edge. Awesome subs for the money. Anyway, twonsubs made a big difference in my room. More and more clear and clean, especially at lower volumes. So I sent them back and ordered a second 1961 1s. Coming monday👍🏻👊🏻🙂
I am very surprised they recommend stacking the subs vs placing them throughout the room (if one can) first. I believe their target audience is home theater, and I assume that their customers would want consistent, smooth bass across more than 1 seat but maybe folks just want more spl, only? Or maybe I have it all wrong. "I should go" -Commander Shepherd
Commander Shepherd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I think it might have something to do with the side firing driver adding complexity to setup if you had one on each side of the main wall it's like having one subwoofer like 8ft behind another, that's going to introduce some odd phase behavior. It can be done but may require a little more setup time to get them dialed in properly. I believe stacked plays 3db louder per their manual.
Exactly what I thought whe I first had an original Sub1! I guess it's simply too much trouble to produce both and always have both in stock, this would raise prices even more but it's certainly not ideal for dual sub setups... It''s especially a problem if you want to put them on both sides of a TV cabinet, like alot of people do, because you have to leave space between the driver and the cabinet on one side... :(
Little out of topic here, so I bought kef kube10 sub with my budget On sale and it’s great sounding. The thing is it goes on power saving mode while listening to normal or low level volumes. I have to crank it up a little high to keep it on. I’m connected via speaker line. I asked kef technical support for help but they don’t have a clue. You’re the best person I can think of to ask what to do about it. Thanks
Hey Gagan, thank you, I hope this helps: Unfortunately many KEF subs have that problem, not all of them, but a lot of them do including some KC62's. My advice is to try to send it in for warranty repair. Additionally I would try using low level instead to see if this fixes your issue. Low level is the better connection method for most subwoofers. Lastly I would use a dB meter (phone app is okay) so you can tell them at what dB it's turning off. Sorry for your troubles my bro that sounds really frustrating :(. Just to be clear it's not that KEF subs are bad, it's just a lot of countries have low power requirements now and navigating these compliance laws adds complexity to the design so it's understandable some companies are having some minor issues with these newer laws. In 5 years though I would consider this unacceptable as everyone should be able to implement these power saving features.
@@NemoPropaganda thanks a lot for the input. I actually returned the sub coz it was in the period. I tried using both low level input as well and gave the same issue. So it wasn’t worth the stress. It was great sounding though. You were awesome with your help
if you're still on the hunt for a great 10" the REL 1003 is the same price as the KEF you just returned or if you want something larger the Rythmik L12 is the same price if you're in the USA.
@@GB-up6nl I've only reviewed the 1000 Pro which I think is great. I think you can find the 1003 for $499 on Adorama www.adorama.com/relht1003.html?origterm=rel1003&searchredirect=true
Hi great review detailed as always one question in a 6 by 4 metre room will the 1961 1s be enought or 1723 s I do know bigger one Wil be better but 8f I can get away with 1961 other funds can always go for other gear thanks
okay so 13x19ft, this is a nice sized room. A single 1961 1s will not have any trouble in a room that size for music and will do very well for theater also. However if you're looking for reference theater performance I would advice to step up to 1723. The 13.8" driver of the 1723 is 28% larger than the 12.2" 1961 so while the 1961 is very good the 1723 certainly is much more capable in every way. Easiest way I can say it is the 1961 is a very good subwoofer while the 1723 can easily be considered a reference class subwoofer and is absolutely worth the increased cost.
@@NemoPropaganda thanks for the reply boss much appreciated I was thinking of the 1961 1v also I know you did not review that one to be honest I'm in two minded 1961 1v or 1723 1s I came from m&k vx1250 and I do like the comparison of car subs I myself run a sq system in the car audison amps and morel speakers and blam subs Home theatre m&k 750 thx but in new year gone switch to arendals and I'm gone start by the sub once again thanks for your reply boss
@@abdoeraouftitus8066 okay cool, so the 1961 1s isn't an outright all the way SQ sub but it's pretty darn close and still has tons of that that SPL style authority without mucking things up, you're a car audio guy too so you'll understand this. The 1961 1s can pound but it's still quick, it's still detailed, and can still handle those more delicate passages but the 1723 1s while having even more output, extension, & SPL capability is even more on the SQ side with better texture and tone. Both are great but judging by your car audio setup I think you will very much appreciate the 1723 1S.
Arendal should be giving you a commission here. I was really planning to get a Polk HTS 12, which I know I'd be happy with it. But after watching your video I don't know how I can't not buy this. And I read that the app has a feature where when it detects the source is switched on the receiver it'll change the EQ. And you can set your predefined EQs for each source. Which is freaking sweet. I had discovered the 1961 1S and was ready to get that, but found out it doesn't support the app. After watching your video though, there's no doubt this is the sub for me to get. Even if I gotta save up an extra 2 months and eat Kraft for 4 weeks, it'll be worth it. lol I watched a bunch of your other videos, and will also be getting the 1961 bookshelves. Also, this has nothing to do with this video or this sub. But, I contacted Arendal CS to ask a few questions. I told them what I was planning to buy (1961 bookshelves + 1961 center) they asked my room size. They said since the room's pretty small, and mentioned something along the lines of the bookshelves have a wide stage. They ended up recommending I start by just buying the bookshelves and see how I like the sound. Their opinion is I might not even need the center. What company's that honest anymore? When most companies do their best to upsell you, Arendal down-sold me. Now this is a company I'll happily support. I still might buy the center after I hear the bookshelves. But the fact they told me to hold off on it is pretty damn cool. Pretty sure this sub with the 1961 bookshelves will be an outstanding setup for music.
Was torn between the 1723 1s and the SB4000, but went with dual 4000's (on order) with the SVS sale right now. Still questioning my choice though. Theres so very little on the SB4000, as the SB3000 seems to step on its toes a bit.
I think that's partly because at normal prices most people who can afford and accomodate an SB4000 can also afford and accomodate an SB16 so they just go bigger but at the current sale price the SB4000 is an easy choice over the SB3000. Yes their specs are very close (3000 & 4000) but specs don't paint the whole picture. I'd imagine at the absolute extremes of output & extension the SB4000 will hold it's composure better and provide cleaner output. Perhaps not enough to justify the normal $700 price difference but currently the SB4000 is only $200 more than the SB3000, I think you made a good choice.
True, that does make sense. Part of me wanted to go 1723 1s since I've already got the 7.0 1961 monitors, bookshelves, and heights. Probably very close performance wise with the SB4000. Slightly preferred the 4000 box shape, but that Arendal build quality is pretty stellar.
Hey Nemo, on your recommendation i bought a REL ht1205 open box for 650$/560€ and a oehlbach nf sub 3m for 30$/24€. couldnt be happier :) the price is insane and i thought i had to wait until december to buy it for 950$/820€. its like a early christmas present to myself :) I excuse for any bad grammer!
I was so close to buy the rel ht 1205, I bought the arendal 1961 1s instead. But honest, I would be super happy with either. Just love rel. It is just a awesome sub! 3njoy man👍🏻
I missed the notice of price increase, but still want one 😂 1S would be fine, but my placement needs to be placed left of TV, because of right side has an opening of 1,5 meters. So I'm looking at the S2 to have it throw base into the left corner. Room size 5x6 meters.
I'm guessing this is for theater? It should rock! If you can only have 1 sub for theater duty most people try to get the best one they can so you're certainly on the right track :)
Thank you for consistently good quality reviews and comparisons. Im looking at upgrading my current music/home theatre sub. How does this arendal 1723 1s compare with Rhythmik e15hp2? I am fussier about the musical quality than the movie playback. My room is about 35 cubic metres but the main listening area is in the middle
So I am in the verge of buying a new sub and I am between Arendal 1723 1S and REL 1508.. Strictly for electronic music ( bass heavy techno ) in medium sized room.. I’ve read everything there is to read and I have no way to audition any of the two.. Hand to heart what would you buy.?
what's up Nick, so that's a tough one as I have only heard the 1510 and not the 1508 but I do own the 1205. If you want me to guess I'd say both subs should have a similar sound to their bass being clean and effortless. I very much like the more refined look of the 1723 1S and it's painted cabinet is a big plus in my book. The REL Predator also is very beaufiul however with its carbon driver. I feel both subs are very capable and similar so would suggest you choose simply based on which one will look nicer in your room as they are both capable of excellent bass.
@@NemoPropagandaThank you so much for your reply and for your amazing reviews.! I will probably go with Arendal… it is beautiful and also has an app.. Thanks again.!
Hey, Nemo. I've checked the graphs on Arendal website. There's a CEA graphs for 1723 1v's ported and sealed modes. Graphs of sealed mode are exactly the same, as for 1723 1s. So, on one graph we can see both, 1723 1v and 1723 1s. And... You're right. Seems like sealed handles low frequencies even better! There's a very small difference between them accordingly to graphs. Seems like Arendal made a good job making best from both worlds, so we don't feel that big difference between them. But, seems also, that's there's no need to pay extra $ and space for the ported sub. Anyway, it would be extremely interesting to hear also Your opinion after comparing 1v vs 1s in a wild (not only for me, but like for 90% of Your viewers 😁) P.S. But the tables below graphs say opposite ... By the tables, ported 1v has higher SPL on frequencies below 50 Hz. I don't get it still... We need Your tests between 1v and 1s 😕
I think you are confusing yourself. So, there is a HUGE difference with respect to output between the 1s and 1v subwoofers and for anyone with a larger room the ported 1V is absolutely worth the extra money and this is the info the CEA data shows. Freq response is another story, the sealed 1723 1S has a more gradual role off compared to the 1V so we can say the sealed actually extends a bit lower but it doesn't matter that much because the 1V is within a few hz of it and can play MUCH louder at anything above 18hz and below 50hz where most of the bass is. @@NemoPropaganda Thanks, but I've never used it. Skype, Telegram... never used Discord. Maybe this is an idea for Your certain video? Personally, it's not about power. For example, I'm choosing between 1961 1v and 1723 1s. Since I've read, that sealed subs need more power for same output, as ported has, and they have relatively equal price

Great review as always man! Question: How does the Klipsch RP-1200SW that you reviewed compare to the 1723 1S, sound quality wise and output wise? I'm interested for both movies and music, space is not that big of a deal for me. Thanks!
The RP1200SW is mainly an LFE sub but I could see it being used for music if you don't mind a slower tone that's exaggerated, it can be a lot of fun. The 1723 1S is twice the price for good reason, it can be an LFE sub and is right at home in a higher end music system also. I don't test output so I can't really comment on that, I'd imagine the much larger RP1200SW may take the win in terms of output but the 1723 1S should still be extremely capable for it's size and has much better sound quality overall.
@@ekjellgren Per the manual "The optimal position for a second subwoofer, is co-located on top of the first one." The manual also says for music systems setting them up as stereo pairs L & R right next to the speakers is cool too. So it looks like you can go either way but it looks like you get a +3dB increase having them stacked vs on either side of the main wall.
Ok, for your next reviews, please consider asking REL for their 510s and 812s. Pretty please. I want a pair of new subwoofers and want to know how much more I would get with the 510s versus the t9xs. Since nobody focuses on the SQL vs SPL as much as you, I would love your take on it! Also, yet another great review from you!!
Mmm, I'll try, I think supply chain issues might make that a challenge, last I spoke to them about the S range they were very focused on having every unit available going to paying customers which of course is very understandable :).
Hey man love the review! I'm looking for a new sub to go with my Quad S5 tower speakers. I'm mainly looking for something for Music as 1st priority and movie SPL as 2nd. Do you think the Rhythmik FVX12 is a better idea over the Arendal 1723? Is the Rhythmik FVX12 faster and tighter?
If you're in the USA a painted white FVX12 is $1229 delivered to your door and the matte black vinyl just $1059 and I'll just say this: You simply cannot do better for the money. I like the 1723 a lot but if you can fit the larger FVX12 you will not regret it. Both subwoofers are fast/tight, it is simply not a concert for either unit. Where the Rythmik takes the edge is bass texture and it's effortlessness. Where the 1723 takes the edge is the feature set, size, and higher WAF while still providing incredible output.
@@NemoPropaganda As someone who lives in the UK the price for importing and shipping is about on par with both subwoofers. Only question I have is how do these subs compare in ultra low bass enviroments, like 20 Hz rumbles in movies and heavy bass songs. Would you say the SPL is comparable although the FVX12 has half the RMS power?
@@FPSkillerPC I wouldn't worry so much about power, it's only 1 part of the equation. The efficiency of the driver and the rest of the system is actually more important. With the FVX12 we have 3 things that boost the efficiency: 1. the driver itself is efficient, 2. the servo technology boosts efficiency further, and 3. a ported design generally has double the output which is another way of saying twice the efficiency. For example if you have 1 SVS PB2000 and you want sealed subwoofers instead you will need at minimum 2 SB2000 subwoofers in order to have the same output and still the single ported PB2000 may have more extension. So yes the SPL should be comparable, essentially both subwoofers should offer up around similar levels of tremendous output for most people.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for all the help man, you truly are the only audio youtuber than takes another step beyond everyone else. One last question I have is I noticed there's the LVX12 (paper cone version and the FVX12 (Alloy version). Is there anyone I should be opting for? I heard people say Paper woofers are usually faster but I'm not sure if that matters at all with the Direct Servo tech.
@@FPSkillerPC No problem dude! So the metal cone F version is superior. All Rythmik subwoofers F version are the original design as they were intended to be. L was born from people asking for more budget friendly options. While L is rather good F is the full blown product the way they intended it to be.
I didn't miss anything brother, I reviewed the 1723 1S over 2 years ago, I didn't get the E110 until a year afterwards so it would have been impossible for me to talk about the E110 in this video. The E110 is a bit unique, very compact, high price, massive output for how small it is, and the most aggressive bass possible. If that's what you want theres nothing like the E110 except the D110 lol. JL bass is extremely aggressive and forceful while the Arendal 1723 1S inches closer to the side of SQ style bass that is lighter on the ears yet still foceful on the body.
@@NemoPropaganda Ah, I see my bad sorry. :) On a sidenote: The thing I've come to understand with the SQ vs SPL subs as you describe them, is that the subs that go very low and very loud have way more distortion (THD) and they achieve that by using DSP. So that 16Hz is not bass it's distortion, as we can see from sides like Audioholic that measure them. Like 20%, 30% 40% and crazy THD like that with those SPL subs. Not to mention the latency penalty of all that processing. While the SQ subs like REL don't use DSP, and are analogue so they're engineered better, as a result they don't go that low because the driver physically cant, but the frequencies that they play, they do it very well. I'm saying this because I've seen some people talking some shit about you on this platform and that you're an idiot for say SQ and SPL subs. But it's because they're uninformed. :) So keep doing what you're doing brother. You're great!
@@dragonstone6594 for the most part what you are saying is correct, in laymen terms the average SPL subwoofer formula is abusing the hell out of the driver but making sure the driver is built tough enough to handle the abuse. It's not a bad formula, it still takes engineering and money to build a driver that is substantial enough to handle the abuse so I'm not minimizing the accomplishments of any SPL sub but yeah the overuse of DSP certainly can be heard by many of us. Personally I think everyone can hear it and some people just enjoy it :)
@@dragonstone6594 as far as people running their mouth about me, well... People are gonna talk, the audiophile community is full of people that believe their belief is the only true belief and anyone who says otherwise is stupid. Nothing we can do about people like that, the world is full of them brother :)
Hi Dave, probably not. I find its design very underwhelming. $2400 for a subwoofer that's 8 years old, has stamped baskets, and no phase control to speak of. I understand if a product is great there is no need for a revision but this looks to be ignored by the brand. There are too many outstanding options in that price range to consider something like this.
Sorry Nemo if I missed it. How would you describe the mid bass for integration? I have in wall Triad LCRs and they cross at 80Hrz, so I’m in need of great integration.
I found out that this is the upgraded version of the 1723 Sub 1 (now Legacy), any idea how the legacy and 1s would compare? I have the chance to pick up the legacy one second hand but if the 1s is a big upgrade then I'd rather keep saving for that one
I’m really interested in this subwoofer I think it has type of sound that I’m after , a subwoofer that is better than a SVS sb3000 in all areas sounds amazing. How much space does the sideways facing need to sound right? I’m my setup it would probably be facing my main speakers do you think this would be an issue?
i believe Arendal says it just needs a few inches, 4 i believe but I think that's a generalization as each room can be a little different. At some point I think all thats left is to try it out :)
@@joekool5676 yeah, unless you're stacking small lighter subs it should be fine since most subs are pretty heavy. I'd just be careful with subs under 50lbs. I stacked my Rythmik F12's for awhile too, not issues.

I had to commit after so many reviews... The Rel HT 1508s on sale for $999 each took my money at the end of day... I'm sure these are awesome but are they are 1k more for 2, which for me in MY Situation, would not be doable so I remain happy! This look awesome and I bet are worth the $$$.
@@NemoPropaganda I like your channel a lot. I have learned there is nothing perfect! It all goes to sound to benefit ratio. Somebody always has something better. These, the Rels, etc. etc. are all good. As I said it came down to $$$. Keep on truck doing what you do. :-)
I expect them to be similar in terms of output but different in terms of sound. The JL sound is more aggressive while the Arendal sound is cleaner. Both are very good.
I hope you see this nemo but I have 2 of these. I was considering to sell and purchase 2 kef KC92. (I have Kef R11, R2C, R3) I havent had the chance to audition the KEF. Main reason i am considering selling is due to 1S being matt finish and my R11 is Gloss black. I have opportunity to wrap the 1s in gloss vynil. Aesthetically I am leaning towards the KEF but how much do you think I be loosing in terms of performance if I swapped over to the Kef?
You would be losing A LOT. The KC62 is amazing but it is tiny. A pair certainly is still very capable especially if you don't listen too loud but they are not capable of the sense of scale and SPL's of dual 13.8" drivers. I strongly urge you to demo the KC62 to ensure it is capable enough for you.
@@NemoPropaganda Hi Nemo I wasn't comparing the 62 (obviously way too small) i asked about the 92 with the dual 9" drivers. Also note I was talking about arendal 1s which is single driver. The 2s is the dual driver model. Thanks for the super fast reply.
@@pumpituphomeboy oh, you mean KF92? Dual KF92 is more reasonable for sure. The larger 1723 1S will still have a bigger sense of scale but the KF92 will extend lower. A pair of KF92 is a very strong setup, I think you will be happy with it but at the end of the day you must accept a smaller sub will not be able to play as loud as a bigger sub generally speaking. There are a few users in my discord that are VERY happy with their KF92, feel free to hop in and ask them about it. discord.gg/nemopropaganda
I havn't heard the 9i. But I I'm a music only customer so I don't need the earthshaking output of the 1723 so I would go for dual 9x over a single 1723.
I have not tried it because I did not have them here at the same time. I think it will be okay though. Try them one at a time first, then try them together, you might need to face the 1723 driver towards you so they are both front firing or you might not. I'm really just guessing here but I think you will be fine.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank u for answer. Will probably go for the 2s.It is 300$ cheaper here than the sb 4000.And re sell 3000sb.But have to say i Love that Little thing..But it cant handle higher volume with control. Thanks again.love ur reviews.
Damn, I've been in Sweden so many times, but I didn't know about Arendal. Definitely go for Arendal! If You're in Sweden or Norway, You simply shouldn't even consider any other brand :) Any chance You'll come to Ukraine? Arendal costs here almost twice the price -.-
@@NemoPropaganda Yep... Moreover, they are unofficial, so I'll pay almost double, but without warranty and service. Same for SVS. And almost all other brands 😁
I'm not a fan of DSP currently. I know it can be very good but I take the "less is more" approach for my personal system. Though if my room had big issues then I think I would use DSP because I know it can be very helpful in those situations.
@@NemoPropaganda I was very cautious about DSP but after using REW both to simulate various layouts of the system and to measure the results I have ended up using DSPeaker to compensate for my complex and somewhat problematic room with its overlapping modes. Resulting response curve is almost flat between 22 and 180 Hz. No phase side effects etc.
the PB16 is 2x the price, literally 4x the size, and weighs 175 lbs! You can buy 2x 1723 1S for the same money and take up less space but if you're looking for a badass theater sub the PB16 is a beast for sure.
Trent took possession of the 1723 shortly after this video, he's running the sub with a Denon AVR and B&W 607s2 anniversary speakers plus the matching center channel for a 3.1 home cinema experience. He is incredibly happy with it. It replaced a 15 year old Velodyne 8" subwoofer so it was a really big upgrade!!
@@NemoPropaganda Well, Trent is on point. I got the Arendal 1961 1s and Genelec 8030c for a 3.1 setup. It is awesome, well, for its price i mean. But your review of the Buchardt made me think, thats bad. Expenisve, hahaha. Cheers mate
It's very rare that a company will offer a discount to buy the product at the end of the review, usually I have to ask. It mainly comes down to if they have any use for what is now essentially a used/open box item. Some companies will continue to recycle that product and send it to other reviewers while other companies will sell it at a discount as "open box" so if I get a discount it's kind of like the same thing you might get for an "open box" item.
Can you try reviewing jamo c910 and jamo c912 subwoofers? Erins audio corner gave the c912 good marks for the price, and I’m wondering if it’s good enough for the money (i will be using a minidsp hd with no room correction for tuning the sub and speakers, may buy the umik-1 and room correct if it helps the sub extend like 5-10hz deeper at -3db)
I don't normally take requests, especially for cheap ported subs but I just watched Erins vid and the Jamo seems cool, I just ordered the 12" in white, we'll see what happens :D If it's unimpressive I might fuck around and see If I can improve it by modifying the port tuning frequency.
This subwoofer is amazing, musical and powerful, what supriced me the most was not the power, it was the refinement, sq and how tight this subwoofer sounds, i had b&w asw610 and Arendal is even tighter despite being larger, and sounds much better as well, and have plenty of headroom,
Well said, I agree with everything you said. I was not expecting that level of quality and control from such a large driver.
How does the jl audio e110 that you reviewed compare to the arendal 1723 s?.

I'm thinking about Klipsch Reference Premiere home theater... but Arendal for subwoofer.
Thanks.
I have the same question.
Cheers
omg, if it's a $1000 aud difference the 1723 is the easy choice for sure!! Also the app is live I believe :D
huh.. SB 3000 costs same as Arendal 1S.. Also.. how did you go with the import? did you have to play customsc/ duties ?
oh wow that was a good price!
So, how is it?
Why did You prefere sealed not ported?
I love the Mass Effect comments. Makes me want to play the new God of War with this sub, when the giant snake talks its pretty great.
The arendal 1723 1s or the 1723 2s is going to be my next sub then. 😊👍
I'm convinced. I'll buy it when they have it in stock again!
You won't be disappointed.
@@NemoPropaganda quick question: this one or REL HT 1508? Since these 2 costs the same where I live.
@@el_projects i havn’t heard the 1508, i know a lot of people like it and it’s very good, i just don’t know how it compares.

This video should help you get the basics down th-cam.com/video/aZbzvanu3vA/w-d-xo.html without having to change every single setting.
how did the sub fare
Great review! Appreciate the comparison to the SB3000 as I have been going between the two and as far as I could tell on paper, the Arendal seems to win. Hoping to get two for my upcoming theater!
Glad it was helpful!
@@svensvensson627 happy with the second one?
I am very surprised they recommend stacking the subs vs placing them throughout the room (if one can) first. I believe their target audience is home theater, and I assume that their customers would want consistent, smooth bass across more than 1 seat but maybe folks just want more spl, only? Or maybe I have it all wrong.

Sounds like a great sub. Too bad they don't sell them with left facing drivers in additional to the default right face.
bahaha, my OCD relates deeply.
Take the 1723 2s instead! They have dual opposed drivers. 1200 watt raw power.

@@NemoPropaganda thanks for the reply boss much appreciated I was thinking of the 1961 1v also I know you did not review that one to be honest I'm in two minded 1961 1v or 1723 1s I came from m&k vx1250 and I do like the comparison of car subs I myself run a sq system in the car audison amps and morel speakers and blam subs

Even if I gotta save up an extra 2 months and eat Kraft for 4 weeks, it'll be worth it. lol
I watched a bunch of your other videos, and will also be getting the 1961 bookshelves.
I appreciate the kind words and I'm happy you enjoy the content. Personally I choose not to use affiliate links.

That thing weighs 92lbs bro, I'm not reviewing that lol.
Thanks for that great review on a beautiful subwoofer. Q: i would like to see a comparison to the REL TH1508
I will try :)
How does this arendal 1723 1s compare with Rhythmik e15hp2? what's up Nick, so that's a tough one as I have only heard the 1510 and not the 1508 but I do own the 1205.

Anyway, it would be extremely interesting to hear also Your opinion after comparing 1v vs 1s in a wild (not only for me, but like for 90% of Your viewers 😁)
Hi, Once again great review 👍🏾 I'm looking to get a pair of subs for my home system, it's running serious power" a have 2 power amps 1 for just bass which is an American audio 750w rms, I was thinking of getting a an Earthquake sound supernova mkvi-12, I realise you haven't reviewed this make but your know is better than mine, do you think it would do a good job? or can you recommend better? the cheapest option first? 12" or maybe 15" preferred 12" I'm a black guy and love my Dub" and Very very Deep! bass.my room is the same size as yours, Love from London UK👊🏽
Hey what's up Beet!!! I was just about to saw DO NOT buy that earthquake subwoofer but I see in your other comment you bought the SVS SB1000 Pro instead, excellent choice my friend! I listen to a lot of EDM and the SB1000 Pro handles it very well!!
@@NemoPropaganda I’m in need of 2 more subs tho” I have 2 18” which are a piece of Shit as you say lol 😂 . The options are not good in the UK, but I do need a good pair preferably with XLR inputs, 12” is good but 15” if no 12”s I was just looking at a Vtf-15H mk2 and VTR-3 mk5 hp but still can’t get them in uk, my budget is £1,200
@@bricktop2090 why do you need 3 bro? Maybe it’s better to have 1 monster? Whats your budget for all 3?
@@NemoPropaganda my system is- 2 American audio 1500watt power amps, 1 amp is for subs, the other for mids and tops, I have 6- 12" speakers for mids and tops and 5 subwoofers, 2 10" and the new svs which I bought yesterday after watching your review 👍🏾 the 2 18" are garbage, and I have to replace🤕 ideally I want 2 12" with xlr inputs but i will listen to your advice before spending the money, I was going to get ported subs but you said closed are sometimes better for only music which is all I'm using the subs for, I've blown subs before and now I'm only seeking advice from experts like you, 👍🏾
@@NemoPropaganda my budget is about 1,200 pounds, uk I can go more tho🤔
@@NemoPropaganda Fantastic. Thanks for the great answer!
What are better: Two 1s near the Tower left and right or stacking the two woofers in the room corner?
Arendal recommends stacking the two in the corner.
If your'e chatting with their support they recommend opposite corners.
Love the subwoofer reviews. Any chance u can review kefs kf92? I would love to know how it stack’s up against these other subs. Thanks
I'm expecting to get my hands on one sometime in the first quarter of 2022 :)
You missed one good comparison, what about Arendal 1723 1S vs JL Audio E110 or E112?
On a sidenote:
The thing I've come to understand with the SQ vs SPL subs as you describe them, is that the subs that go very low and very loud have way more distortion (THD) and they achieve that by using DSP.
So keep doing what you're doing brother.
Great review. Any chance you could get your hands on a goldenear super sub Xxl sub.
Arendal subs integrate better than a lot of subs I've tried, of course your room and setup will be a factor also.
I found out that this is the upgraded version of the 1723 Sub 1 (now Legacy), any idea how the legacy and 1s would compare? I have the chance to pick up the legacy one second hand but if the 1s is a big upgrade then I'd rather keep saving for that one
I don't know anything about the original 1723 subwoofer.
Hmm should i get this or vented version for 18ft x 12 ft x 9ft room? Music/movies 50/50.
If you want maximum output go for the vented. Sealed will offer up better transient response.
I’m really interested in this subwoofer I think it has type of sound that I’m after ,
a subwoofer that is better than a SVS sb3000 in all areas sounds amazing.
Thanks for your reply, just realised that you mentioned this later on in the video! 😀
When you stack the subs Nemo, did you use any blue tack to couple them
no blue tac, I've never used blue tac.
@@NemoPropaganda so you simply just put one on top of another
@@joekool5676 yeah, unless you're stacking small lighter subs it should be fine since most subs are pretty heavy. I'd just be careful with subs under 50lbs. I stacked my Rythmik F12's for awhile too, not issues.
If Arendal is listening, please update your site. There are a lot of UX mistakes and low res, pixelated backround pics. You need to match the level of your marketing to your amazing products.
they probably not in my comments section :)
Good choice! The REL 1508 is an outstanding subwoofer and can't be beat at the sale price, you basically got 2 for the price of one!! That's killer!!
@@NemoPropaganda I like your channel a lot. I have learned there is nothing perfect! It all goes to sound to benefit ratio. Somebody always has something better. These, the Rels, etc. etc. are all good. As I said it came down to $$$. Keep on truck doing what you do. :-)
@@JC-pt5jw thank you bro I appreciate that.
arendal 1723 1s o bl xxls400 for music?
I don't know, BK doesn't send review samples.
Will this be better then an JL audio e112 for movies?
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you sir! And will drop by the discord for sure. Enjoy whats left of the weekend.
Hi Nemo, simple question: 1723 1s vs 2 x T9i what should I choose? for the same price in a medium large room. Thanks
I havn't heard the 9i. But I I'm a music only customer so I don't need the earthshaking output of the 1723 so I would go for dual 9x over a single 1723.
In Europe the Rel T9i and the 1723 is about the same price. For 2 channel, why would you choose the Arendal over the Rel?
Nemo needs to do an Arendal 1723 2S vs REL S810 video!
92 lbs on the 1723 2s, that's pretty close to my 100lb maximum. I don't know man, I don't like stuff that's too heavy.
As always... Great review Nemo.... 👍
Excellent review thank you so much
could i put 2 of these in cabinets with the woofer facing straight out?
yes, though your cabinets may rattle.
Thank u for review.
Can i mix a sb3000 and a 1s in a HT setting?have the sb already.
But Arendal is so much cheaper here in Sweden.Thank u for answer
If You're in Sweden or Norway, You simply shouldn't even consider any other brand :)

@@8000860 oh man, is it because of import tax? Are all subs double in Ukraine?
@@NemoPropaganda Yep... Moreover, they are unofficial, so I'll pay almost double, but without warranty and service. Same for SVS. And almost all other brands 😁
Can u test and do a review of the definitive technology descend dn subwoofers then also.
Hey Ulf, I've tried to email them a few times but they never respond :(
@@NemoPropaganda ahh. Sorry to hear that then. I Wonder how the descend subs is compared to The arendal subs then. ?.
@@ulflarsson9693 I would guess the Arendal would outperform any comparable definitive sub.
Just add a DSPeaker and put those Arendals in the corners and verything will be top notch
This or svs pb16 ultra. Running 1723 line already
the PB16 is 2x the price, literally 4x the size, and weighs 175 lbs! You can buy 2x 1723 1S for the same money and take up less space but if you're looking for a badass theater sub the PB16 is a beast for sure.
Update on Trent pls
Cheers mate
@@svensvensson627 that sounds like a fantastic system to me :)

What have you used as treatment on your walls?
Dekiru polyester panels on the front wall, GIK Acoustics Gobo panels at the first reflection points.
Great job bro ! did you get a discount code for use? ;-)
