Love my 1723 1S's and 2S. I will echo the rectangular shape really helps fit these subs in places that a typically box sub with the same driver size would not fit. The app control is a nice bonus too.
I love this system. I bet it sounds awesome in your room. How would you compare to your JTR set up ❓😊
I'm impressed by their packaging. I get so much stuff broken during shipment, it's really important for manufacturers to package well.
lol... Yeah. Just received a 100lb steel bedframe. It survived, but just barely. It looked like someone had used a shotgun from 1000 ft... peppered with digs, nicks, dings, etc. Granted, 100lb is bit hefty for one person handling...
Listening to this Arendal review on my Arendal's. Arendalception.
Nice!
Mechanical energy cancellation is a good thing. I don't know if they directly couple the magnets but I expect the frames are rigid enough that it wouldn't make a huge difference. Really nice looking subs!
That is the most extensive subwoofer amplifier/processor Ive ever seen. Bravo Arendal!
I like the size of their subs too. It is making me have buyers remorse on the Monolith. The Monolith is awesome though.
Really enjoyed the b roll footage and how you mixed in stock footage from Arendal with your own footage from your room
Thanks Tristan
Love Your Review On Arendal Speakers!!!! Still Don't Know Rather I'll Go With The Kef Speakers??? What I See 👀 So Far With These Speakers ( Specs 400 Center Up To 500 RMS Towers!) And Subwoofer And Menu Options! AWSOME!!! AND THEN THE APP! WOW!!!! Still Kinda Wish You Viewed The Kef Speakers ( R11 Meta Speakers R3 Meta R6 Center) Hopefully In The Future, But If Not, I'm MOST DEFINITELY IMPRESSED WITH THIS PRESENTATION 👍 👌
That is one beefy center channel ❤
Youthman is giving Birth to MONSTER SUBS!!! I know the feeling Bro!!! They make Nice Gear, glad they are sponsoring you!!💯💯✌️
Thank you kindly. I’ve been very impressed with Arendal since I first reviewed the 2V a few years ago.
Sold my three SB3000s for dual 1723 S2. I can't fit a ported in my space, so theses fit the bill after measuring my room. These may be the last subs I get for a longgg while.
Got the pronunciation of Arendal right! :)
Maybe not completely in local dialect, but in line with how two thirds of Norway’s population would pronounce it.
It took me awhile lol
That subwoofer looks huge and heavy! And I want one, LOL!
Thanks guys! I'm saving for their 1723 Monitor S for my LCR.
When you do demo/listening, I'd like to hear just the towers with rock music. I'm trying to replace my NHT 2.5's and it's proving difficult.
Question, what’s the advantage of having these adjustments if I’m using Dirac Live via a NAD-T778? Would I be making more adjustment after running Dirac?
It depends on how well Dirac does with auto correction. This just gives you additional flexibility via DSP
@@Youthman thank you. This information will make a better informed purchase. I’m planning on buying a sub next week and I’m split between the Arendal 1723 S1, REL HT1510, and SVS SB4000. Really hard to choose from these 3z
Looking at the specs of the HT1510, it's -6dB at 20Hz. I personally am not interested in a sub for Home Theater that is not flat down to 20Hz. Too much content in that region to be missing out on. For music, it would be perfectly fine.
The Arendal 1S is 18Hz-200Hz (+/-3dB).
The SVS SB4000 is 19-310Hz ± 3 dB.
Hope that helps.
This is so beautifully looking subwoofer that makes me want to pay the premium. But how such dual subwooder should be placed? Is it really fine to put it just between a front speaker and a cabinet? How much free space next to the drivers does it need to sound well?
There is a PDF on their website that includes a section about the S/W placement. Oddly, they suggest a corner location and colocation if two subs are used. There are no recommendations of any kind for locations away from walls.
Nice as hell but sadly out of my budget. But I can dream can't I? LOL. Great review Michael.
Nice detailed dive for Arendal users. Good work.
Thank you kindly.
Two drivers in a sealed cabinet. I wonder how it differs from the *M&K Sound X15.*
The *M&K Sound X15* claims to, "cancel non-linearities to produce totally symmetric waveforms."
Does the *Arendal 1723 Subwoofer 2S* accomplish the same thing?❓❓❓
These are big ??? The M&K design is different. I thought they might say something about low distortion in the specifications, but they do not.
Very Nice Presentation. 👌
Hi Youthman
Juat wondering if you heard of Tonewinner D6000 15" subwoofer? Maybe do a review, keep up the good work 👍👍👍
I do not have any contacts for Tonewinner and have not heard their products.
@@Youthman Hi from Ireland, cheers for the response, there is one review on TH-cam, but I would like to see what you think of them, he put them up against the SVS PB 16, and the Tonewinner held their own, on the REW readings, Summit HIFI in Canada sells them, they are a Chinese brand, have you ever tested the XTZ 3x12 subwoofer? Your content is great, very informative 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
XYZ has a cool triple 12” subwoofer. But like Tonewinner, I have not reached out to them.
@@Youthman Hi, not easy to get the subs you really want, in Europe, for a reasonable price, everything is in the USA ☹️😂, keep up the good work Youthman 👍👍👍👍
Yo Michael 😊
Hi, quick question, Can you run dual subs from different manufacturers ie RSL and Klipsch and expect good performance
I don't see why not.
Try it.
This company does not even recommend their own subwoofers at different locations in the room.
In your opinion, how would you compare the SVS versus PSA2112?
I haven’t reviewed the 2112. The only PSA I have reviewed was the 3611 that is now discontinued. It was a BEAST!
@@Youthman got it. Thanks for your quick reply.
I never heard back-to-back sub speakers. Can they still give you a tactile (below 20 hz) response like the jtr speakers?
The 2S are rated down to 17Hz using EQ1. I’ll measure them in a future video but I’m guessing they will extend to around 15Hz in room.
My JTR Captivator RS2’s measure flat down to 5Hz in my room. They are not in the same category of subwoofers:
IMO, you always want a sub that can extend down to at least 20Hz. Anything below that is even better.
Not acoustic energy/sound, it's physical movement.
Back to back, or more correctly Dual Opposed subs, aren't different sounding fundamentally.
There's no loss of impact or tactility ... it's simply force cancellation, relative to the driver's impact on the box.
Typical single driver subwoofer exerts a reactionary force unto the cabinet, ie., the cone stroking in and out generates the same physical reactive force into the cabinet (just like a gun recoils).
However, dual opposed drivers null that relative force (like a gun shooting fore and aft at the same time = no recoil).
Good video !
Is this your room?
Yes this review was done in my dedicated theater room.
I see you took my advice on unboxing. I really like your show on youtube, you are all things Theater, thank you
Thank you. What advice did you give me?
@@Youthman turning the box upside down to get the contents out. I learned that when I was 16 y/o delivering refrigerators in the box except you dont turn refrigerators upside down, ha ha.
@inlandchris1 I’ve been doing that since I started my channel 5 years ago. Here was the first speaker I ever unboxed on the channel - th-cam.com/video/_ROiKxkVg6A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ylSdz5ReAay8BCa-
@@Youthmanmaybe its my age, thought it was you I mentioned about unboxing. I will check my comments later and thanks
No worries. 👍
Amazing.. boss...but i think very expensive..
If Arendal is above your budget, search my channel for Klipsch, SVS and Monolith subwoofers.
Everything about the Arendals is fantastic and perfect EXCEPT the slippery gloves. You can't grip the speakers with them, they have zero grip, very slippery.
I almost dropped my 1723 Monitors. Those gloves got tossed in the box,
Yes, unfortunately most white gloves are this way.
Rew measurements Michael!
That’s the plan
Canceling each other out sounds horrible. If they did you would get no bass at all. It’s the push pull design. That design is not made for larger drivers. Especially subs.
If you rewatch the video, I said “they will cancel each other out as far as in inertia is concerned”. Inertia refers to movement of the drivers, not a reference to the sound they produce. With both Wolford is moving in opposite directions, it prevents the cabinet from moving.
This is not a push-pull design.
Nope, Kali Audio SW-6.2 sub is the best sub for 2023
