I recently attended a masterclass with Fernando- the head artist of Chantecaille, and he was saying the tinted moisturiser was formulated with more colour pigment than this foundation. Whereas Future skin was has more luminosity pigments than colour pigments!
Was super interesting to hear him talk about this so thought I would share!

Deborah Carlston I have had both the foundation and tinted moisturiser in my collection for a while now! I love both of them
That makes sense, because it's quite a one-and-done product to me. I never bother with primers, highlighters or any tools with with. It's simply a fool proof product to slap on when you want your skin to look better than before, and you want people to compliment your skin, not your foundation.

Thank you for this review, almost no one has done a review on it before. I feel like chantecaille is one of those brands that a lot of people skip because they think it's only for mature skin but I've been wearing this since I was 26 and no matter what other foundations I try, this is the one I keep coming back to. It is simply amazing! I just wish they could expand the shade range a little bit.

I have been using this foundation for 15 years. It always looks natural, lasts throughout the day and doesn't change, and above all, my skin always feels 'clean' when I wear it. The plastic lid lasts forever, even after the pot is empty and you use it to decant some other product.
How have you found the best way to apply this?

Marvellous! Even the wrong tone, no primer, no serum, no luminousity added as a recommended tip, and your look is still quite smart and sharp. I will get two and mix to perfection. Chantecaille is just supreme, full stop!
This remains one of my favorite foundations. I like the cooling application and the light coverage. It works really well in hot climates and Shea is a perfect match for my NW-30 skin tone.

i feel like Future Skin has more coverage than the Just Skin for me. I usually use Just Skin for a one thin layer first after SPF and use Future Skin on the center of my face for extra coverage because it does not look cakey even if you build up. also this foundation works well for winter season as well!
You should do a comparison. One side the tinted moisturizer verses the gel foundation. Also you should bring the foundation down your neck.👍

I completely agree that it's one of the best foundation in the market and I have oily skin. It's long last regardless of the weather, comfortable and it has a natural blurring finish

The tinted moisturiser definitely has more pigment, and the salesperson told me that she thought I would find future skin more up my alley - since I don't really love foundation. I love the natural finish.

I have this foundation in Alabaster. I love it and I love it on you! One note: I talked to a lovely lady at a Chantecaille counter who told me it has a long shelf life because there are no oils in it.
How would you describe Alabaster? I prefer true neutrals, because most brands like Dior think cool means veryyy pink. And I want to buy the right shade online.
I see a difference with the powder. The non-powder side is a little more shiny imo. But both sides look really good.

The foundation looks beautiful on your skin from a texture and radiance point of view. I agree it is not the ideal colour, but isn’t too bad.
Its true, the Future Skin has a lighter coverage than the True Skin Tinted Moisturizer! Both work, very pretty finish tho! I prefer the Future Skin, even in winter months oddly enough, & it does Not Crack in Canadian Winter weather ( -5 Degrees today 🙃🥶❄️) so very good product, Highly recommend!

I've always enjoyed a satiny finish foundation and adding it slowly to make it a close match to my shade. Living in Florida it feels natural and cool. Thanks for your opinion, Latina.
I think as I get older, I’m 53, I’m liking lighter weight foundations. My skin has always been normal or combination but as I age, I’m noticing dry patches. I think I may have to try this. Thank you for the review.

Your reviews always coincide with my latest discoveries! I happened to try this a few weeks ago and am loving it. Have been late to the Chantecaille game and this was a great intro to the brand (shade: Banana). The bronzer from their summer collection is also great - has a unique gel-based texture.

Thanks for a great video Michele. This product has been a classic for a reason. I watched an interview with Sylvie Chantecaille where she shared it is her favorite. I think the plastic seal needs to be kept so that the foundation doesn’t dry in the jar.
I had a hard time with color matching in this foundation. Ended up with alabaster which is a tad light for the summer. I love the finish but noticed that it’ll slide around if I use a primer or sunscreen with silicone/dimethicone.
I am so glad you did a video about this product!! I have been using this for over three years and I absolutely love it. You describe it beautifully. It feels like you aren’t wearing anything. It’s more of a light to medium coverage. Can’t wait to hear more about your matching and other feedback as you wear it again.
Lol I discarded the plastic piece and it’s been fine. But I don’t travel with the product. I apply with fingers and then use the brush to smooth it out.
chantecaille has been one of my favourite brands as of late so I love whenever I see you do a video on one of their products! I'd be interested to see a side by side or comparison vs the just skin
I really like this foundation I find it very hydrating. I use vanilla in this and in just skin. I apply with fingers though to get better coverage. With brush on me its too sheer but I personally like medium to full coverage

This foundation used to be Pat McGraths foundation of choice. I had purchased it for that reason. I have combo skin and ironically it get super shinny with this foundation despite the fact that it’s oil free.

Definitely have to go to counter to find right shade. I had a hard time finding right shade. I was like you in between shades. I think it looked very nice on your skin & amazing how putting on the second layer could really see the color tone difference.
I loved this foundation. I have used this for years. I’m nc40 and the color wheat works for me.

So, I purchased this foundation with your code this past Saturday. Now, I haven’t actually used it on my face…. But put it on the back of my arm and was bowled over by how it looked and felt like I had nothing on (but I could see it working as I laid it down). It just literally looked like my skin but better. I’ve never seen a foundation that didn’t look like foundation.

I'm using it as a first layer foundation since it has skincare ingredients and then normal foundation on top
love, taking fish oil - omega 3 softgels capsules help dry skin and you notice the results in short weeks.
I have the same color match tone issue with this foundation. The color range is pretty small. This is my summer foundation.

Love this foundation. I have it in the shade " Alabaster" I am very fair and. have pink under-tons. Love the way it wears.
I think the darker shade helps make you look Younger ? But the Foundation does have an Airbrushed Quality to it which may also be part of the reason. Have you ever thought about Self-Tanners? Vita Liberata Self-Tanners are high quality which is sold at Sephora. St. Tropez has a good self-tanning facial mist.
You look so pretty with this makeup. The powder side look a little blurred, but all over the complexion looks great.

how does it compare with the Suqqu extra rich cream foundation? or the Chanel Sublimage Le Teint?
jMeow Yes, I was wondering about that myself, especially the Suqqu Extra Rich Glow Cream Foundation. Love the Chantecaille Future skin but my one experience with the Chanel Sublimage Le Teint is that it left my skin a bit tacky which is rather annoying for me as I don’t always like to set my face. Armani’s Crema Nuda is a similar product as well & that’s a good one too.

As I get older this has become my favorite foundation. It looks so skin like but perfect and stays on all day for me
And Suqqu is exactly the same way with the plastic top and being, potentially, very messy. Just FYI for your trip to Japan!
Hi Michele, This is my current favorite foundation. I wear Vanilla in the Just Skin and Alabaster in Future Skin. I found applying with a sponge gave me the best coverage, and I use the inside of the lid to dab the product on the sponge. It is a gorgeous coverage. I do powder around the nose and chin to ensure I do not lose coverage throughout the day.

I prefer light coverage, so I really like this on you, with one application. Two made the color too deep on you. That said, you look spectacular. I never would have thought to try this product. Now, after seeing it on you, I want it. Your skin looks divine. Thanks for this video. 💚

I love this foundation. The application is nice and it stays all day! It feels good on the skin too!
I use my fingers and I use Alabaster (for both Future Skin and Just Skin) - the MA tried to put me in Vanilla and I thought it was too dark and too yellow...anyway I do love this foundation alot. Those are the only two foundations I use and I like that it is a light coverage. I use just a dab for both. I do feel you might try the Vanilla, you might be surprised. I prefer to go lighter and then darken if needed with bronzer, blush, eyeshadow, etc...the color products. I like that this "melts" into the skin. I use their SPF primer and a small amount of the Anti Pollution Mattifier on top of that.
Try Ivory and Vanilla to see which works best. I have hard to match skin as well and was always matched to Vanilla, but I found it turned more orange on me. Ivory surprisingly made my skin glow. People always compliment me on my great skin when I wear this. They think I don't wear foundation. I can't wait for you to review Chantecaille Fall 2019 with your new shade. It looks stunning!
All of your makeup and colors in this look are so, so very beautiful.
My experience is the same as yours - the tinted moisturizer had more coverage for me - I could build the Future Skin, liked the way of felt, but in the end the tinted moisturizer worked so much better - the shades were better for me as well. Which formulation would you repurchase if you could only buy one? Great review, Michele. 👍💖

btw I think this shade is too dark on you and is the vanilla even darker? i know it’s pinkier but maybe try one shade lighter rather than the vanilla? I used the both alabaster for just skin(i think it’s the lightest) and future skin(second lightest shade) for your reference (i’m chinese also).
So glad you did this review! I was going to buy this at Neiman Marcus but wasn't sure. I found the colors misleading. I consider myself deep but my usual color was too orange the next one down was too pink so I went 3 shades lighter. I found the coverage light. How do you think it compares to the Chanel Sublimage Le Teint? 🤔
I was told by my Chantecaille person here in Toronto that Future Skin provides lighter coverage than the Just Skin, and that has been my experience.
Also, test the shade Alabaster if you do go back.

I love Chantecaille products; I just wish they'd make a shade pale enough for me. Future Skin is gorgeous on the skin and I love it but the palest shade is a tad too dark AND it gets darker after a few minutes. So sad : (
L Jay ~ I agree, the porcelain shade could be lighter. It’s very warm. Or, a lighter shade could be added. If it oxidizes on me, I’ll have an issue.
Michele, thank you for this. Future Skin has been one of my two faves, the other being GA Luminous Silk. I just picked up Becca Skin Love which is going right back - heavy on skin and I literally felt it all day. Agree, a different dispensing system - hate the jars - too messy. Just Skin def has more color pigments - appreciate your viewer for sharing that - as I use less to get a similar coverage. Have a great weekend and thank you again.
you’re my new favorite foundation reviewer because you prefer hydrating formulas. thank you for that lol. this one leaves a beautiful finish on your skin. the jar packaging is going to be so messy and frustrating unfortunately. they should consider putting it in a squeeze tube.

This is my favorite foundation. It's def light to med coverage, so I use my fingers to apply for fuller coverage. The pot is annoying though, it may not be the most sanitary.
Their rep at my Nordstrom recommended applying with your fingers. It was still a light coverage, but I think a little better using fingers versus a brush or beauty blender.

The foundation looks beautiful on you. I think finding the right shade is going to be challenging, if possible (for me). I don't know why the shades seem so strange. I've looked at this foundation before and felt the same way about the undertones - I would definitely need to be shade matched in the store. I hope you can find the right color.
