Nice video. I did the same DIY test as you (Honda Forza 125) with 2 minors. Had my first "Can you pull up on the left when safe" as soon as I left the test centre, followed by "So you can remove your keys from the top box". Bloody keyless systems. Also, nice examineer, said over the radio as I was pulling in at the end of the test at the center "congratulations, you have passed" no waiting at all.

You got a massive lucky break from your examiner. The last traffic lights before the test centre when you were behind the learner you stopped again in the cycle part and then followed the learner car through a red light.
38:55 At the traffic lights behind the learner, you did enter the cycle box ‘ but’ the lights were on green when you entered it and stopped, you’d already commented in the video you were not supposed to enter the box if the lights were Amber or red so I’d guess you were ok ? What cc is the scooter ?
Nerve wracking to watch. “Make good progress” was my instructors advice i.e. ride to the speed limit. I lost a point for not overtaking a car with a trailer on a hill, thought it would be a bit boy racer on my test! Examiner asked me what action I could have taken “ I could have overtaken” - “no should have overtaken” he said! Shoulder checks a must and watch out for the dithering pedestrian at a zebra crossing that will f**k up your test. Personally I wouldn’t go into the green cyclist box. Great ride and well done for the the pass.
I didn't know that you can do your test on a royal alloy. I checked on government website and it stated only certain bikes can be used. I want to do my test so I dont have to do cbt all the time. I dont want to ride anything bigger than my 125 and dont want to ride geared bikes.

I got a major for stopping in a cyclist box in the same situation as you ,he stated I was not anticipating the light change , gave me a major for not going round a roundabout at 30MPH I proceeded at 15MPH. Gave me a major for missing a turn on the independent ride and a major for going too slow in a 30mph zone which I thought was a twenty .

I would say, if it says in the Highway Code, don't enter the green box, then that's the rule, after all the RAC are just a company not a government department
Congrats mate well done. With regards to the green box. It’s called an ASL (Advanced stop line) and it’s specifically for cyclists. It’s purpose is to allow cyclists to sit at the front of traffic so that they can be seen. (Well that’s the theory anyway). Crossing either of the lines in a motorised vehicle on a red light actually carries a fine for both lines. Other than that, looked like a top ride pal. 👍
Tony is correct. The advanced stop line is the one for all motorists to stop at. You must stop before that line on amber if it's safe to do so and you must not go over it on a red. The line at the front of the cycle box is the secondary stop line. You must not pass on amber if its safe to stop before it and you must not pass it on a red. You could and should have stopped before the advanced stop line but you went over it just before red, so as you were a new rider, he gave you the benefit of the doubt. If it had gone red before you passed over it, I'm sure it would have been a fail. It was pretty close.
I did an A1, many don't bother. Recently went from A1 to A2. I did this because I didn't want to have to do the theory test again. The bike i want needs to be economical and not too tall, so 500 cc seems about right for me. Since 2016 ive riden over 80,000 miles on my A1 license. I had two faults, one was for being around 2 mph over the limit, but he said he prefered that, than being under.
5:22 - you're fully in his blind spot in the red car, he'd never see you if he changed his mind and turned left without signal. The guy on the bicycle with a pole!! Mad hahah. As for green cycle boxes - they are for bicycles only, we shouldn't stop unless absolutely necessary, and should not filter into them. If you think your scooters throttle is sensitive, you'd be shocked about big bikes (750 plus) hah - blip it and you're doing 50. Throttle control is a learnt skill holding speed. And yes, you should indicate at the last turn in. Well done though! Enjoy and keep learning.
I do sympathise with you riding comfortably below the speed limit. And tbh with the RA speedo in kph I'd find it difficult to stick to a constant 30mph etc in built up areas. One to work on for my own attempt at A1 soon.. cheers again, great vids!

Just watched your video today and firstly you did a great job the video was very well done but I will point out how lucky you were committing a major fault and passing. I want to bring to your attention your final right turn at 39 mins. You were waiting at the second white line within the cyclist zone with the learner driver ahead that was waiting in the yellow box look at the lights change to red while you were still stationary. You went through a red light. Pause it at 39:08 I can see your instructor in your mirror i have no idea what he was looking at.
Well done, I be doing my A1 soon, I don't think they is any need for A or A2, you can only do 70 on the roads anyway and 125 can achieve that. You can always look to fitting a 170 kit for the hills.
Hi matey 👍 well done for passing your motorcycle test and be safe and keep looking left and right when coming up to side roads just incase there is a car or whatever speeds out in front of you. And try and stay out of the green cycle box and bus lanes there is time were your not to ride in them because they are for the buses only. But take good care of yourself and stay safe etc etc 👍👍👍👍 thanks from mark and i enjoyed watching you on your motorcycle exam test and you passed 👍👍👍

Good video - thanks. Think your "left hand turn" issue was the merge point that the car undertook you on the way back and definitely keep out of the cycle box!!
On a bike I would stop on bike green spot as on a two wheeler whether motorised or not. So loosing a point for that sucs! but you passed which is awesome. You can only ride automatic 125 scooter?
Yes passed on a 125, It's the A1 licence, so I am limited to a 125 automatic. If I want to go bigger I would need to do the A2 or the DAS test. If I want to ride manual I would need to retest on a manual. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Very good interesting video I did my test there back in the 80s then the road part in reddish they did not even ride after you back then we'll done on passing
Congratulations! Great content, thanks for sharing 👍 That first kerb stop at 8:30, I’m surprised no one has mentioned you pulled in opposite a junction - I would have thought you might have received a minor for that? But hey, what do I know, my M2 training and test isn’t until next week, I’ll keep my gob shut until after I’ve passed! Happy days!
Hi Dennis, yes I remember thinking at the time that opposite the junction wasn't the wisest idea, but it was a very wide main road, maybe that's why I got away with it !? Hope you passed the Mod2. Thanks for watching.🛵👍
@@RoyalAlloyRider Cheers, yep, Mod2 passed, what a relief! Heh, ironically, when asked by the examiner to pull in at the kerb, I stopped next to a no parking sign and picked up a minor! 😂 Like I said, I’m no expert! Anyway all done. Hope to go tyre-kicking this weekend, determined to find something with a bit of style eg Moto Guzzi or Triumph, having missed out on owning a Vespa (or similar) during the scooter years 🛵 👌
I reckon the left handed turn is the one at 18:45, just before you said you were looking for it. I think you should be a bit nearer the kerb as it's a blind corner and the traffic coming down the hill could cut their corner off, which would place them over the line and extremely close to you. That's my thinking, anyway. Great video.
Hey Mike, apologies for the slow reply. My pal got his motorbike instructor to watch this video, apparently he thinks its the bend at 9.53,took it too wide ! Thanks for watching and commenting.👍
Congratulations chap! Nice one! After doing my back to work assessment in my lorry yesterday l can empathise with the constant self analysis and nerves! Best place for ‘ L’ plates is in the bin lol 👍
It's a far cry from when I passed mine in 1982 under the ancient system, where the examiner stood at the kerb and observed you riding past, sticking his clipboard up in the air to test your emergency stop.. 🤪
Hi great video I am on the same route next week and your video was excellent as I don’t know the area I thing where you went wide was as you went around and turned left just after the one way street
You. We're over to the right on that right hand bend when you were clear to give yourself more visibility by staying over to the left. Could that be it. Just before you lost him for the second time near the test centre.
Stopped opposite a junction twice was very close to cutting over painted white line at mini roundabout and stopped in a cycle box. Missed a few inside life savers when turning left. I think you had a lenient examiner tbh
Im from stockport and know exactly where that is! Never knew a test centre was there though! I now ownca yamaha mt125 and looking to do my a1 i now know where to go
There are 3 types of test, A1 is for 125cc restricted licence, A2 for mid range powered machines, and DAS for full unrestricted licence. I only did the A1 to get the L plates off, and be able to carry pillion / motorways/ and ditch the cbt ! Thanks for watching .👍🏻🛵
Crackin video m8 im 32 hopefully the last time but i done my cbt last august got myself a lexmoto michigan 125cc great bike will have for another couple of years trying to save up for my direct access for when my cbt runs out then trade in against a bigger bike cool scooter by the way i used to scoot about on a 50cc sym and my m8 had a union jack vespa had a few shots had to pressure him into it mind u miss the scooter days 30 mph just rollin
I have a good question? Should e-bike riders take the cbt I think so , what’s peoples views. What’s your opinion the Royal Alloy Rider please. Maybe e-bike instructors with e-bikes.
Ive never ridden an e-bike, but yeah with the speeds they can travel at nowadays the CBT would seem a good idea, couldn't harm could it ! Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching.🛵👍
If you ride a 50cc that will do 30mph you have to have tax , mot insurance and a crash helmet, but you can ride an e-bike that will do 28mph and dont have to have any of it , if someone on an e-bike hits you it's tough claiming your own insurance andyour premium goes up
Ebikes are only legally allowed to have assistance upto 15.5mph. Although pedal power allows any speed. They are not allowed to be self propelling ie push a throttle and away you go, you have to pedal to get the assistance. Anything other than this is illegal and wouldn’t require license or tests.
Fantastic!! Well done for showing us anxious pre testers what it's like! Question :When you pull in and there's a pavement, is it OK to put left foot on kerb?
Very nice ride. Well done. Can't for the life of me work out where the lefthand turn was where you picked up a minor. I'm surprised that stopping in that cycle box at the lights didn't get you a fail, to be honest. I thought that was considered pretty serious. Also, the right turn at the end when you lost him looked a little dicey from a test point of view. That's exactly how you should drive normally but you're basically turning on red (or, at least, that's what it looks like in the video), which I would have thought would spell trouble in a test. That said, I'm not an experienced motorcyclist so maybe I'm wrong, but I definitely would have waited behind the cycle box (and therefore would have had to wait. Anyone know what the correct procedure is here, please?
For someone who's only just passed and without any training, this is an excellent and informative video😉

Thanks for the feedback Tony. Good to know for future reference, thanks for watching 👍
Did my mod1 there only recently, mod 2 test coming up.
Lane change at 26:42 did you indicate when you moved into the left hand lane ?
Enjoy and keep learning.
loved the video well presented congrats on the pass got my mod 2 aug 3rd
Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching. Good luck next Tuesday ! Please let us know how you get on !
Mine is also on 3rd August
@@RoyalAlloyRider hello royal just a wee update .passed my mod 2. 7 minors still a pass is a pass.
I passed today
if you get stuck in a cycle box just to leave room for cycles on the near side but try and keep out
I do sympathise with you riding comfortably below the speed limit. And tbh with the RA speedo in kph I'd find it difficult to stick to a constant 30mph etc in built up areas. One to work on for my own attempt at A1 soon.. cheers again, great vids!
Very sensitive throttle and hard to hold steady ! Thanks for watching. How did you do with the A! tests ?
@@RoyalAlloyRider theory test booked in for late October (soonest I could get, there's such a backlog). Hope to do the practicals before the end of the year. Already invested in a Ken Cobbin star mudflap to replace the L plate, lol! Feel a bit of a fool re my comment about the speedo being in kilometres... took the scoot in for its first service and the guy showed me a button to switch it to mph. Doh!
@@RoyalAlloyRider ... forgot to say, saw the Pebble and the Boy at the flicks earlier in the week. Mani has a small part, coming to a buy a lambretta. Was reminded of your ride out!
I am 84 with, A. licence. I wear all brown leathers from head to toe. just love the colour. Passed test in 1954 on 750cc Royal Enfield. UK.
84 wow ! Much respect my friend! Ride safe! Thanks for watching 😁 👍🏻🛵
But take good care of yourself and stay safe etc etc 👍👍👍👍 thanks from mark and i enjoyed watching you on your motorcycle exam test and you passed 👍👍👍
nice video RAR keep up with the good work
been putting off my practical test for almost two years now. have until September 2022 to get it booked before the theory runs out. too nervous. even watching this vid has me feeling physically ill. hah
but otherwise, this is a very informative video. Thanks, man- calmed my nerves a little👍
Am sure you'll be fine. Give it a go ! Thanks for watching and keep us posted !🛵
How you getting on mate? I too really struggle with test day nerves. Failed my first one, doing stuff I never do normally. Got my second in a few days but Ive practiced a bit more
Amber light means stop if safe to do so. Consequently, you could have stopped at the first stop line over hyena you code instructions.
Congratulations, wow, so brave not to have training for your test. Contemplating doing the A1 on my 125 cc scooter, you weren’t a bit stressed. Well done.
You have to do it on a 600cc or above I believe.
@@gazpitchyI believe thats for A2 🤷🏾♂️
Well done fella.... Frome what I saw you road very well... especially when you had a few numpties to contend with on the roads like the guy with whatever it was he was carrying on his shoulder on his bike lol... can't wait to get the L plates off mine ...
Cheers Tyler good luck with your tests 👍
Good video - thanks. Think your "left hand turn" issue was the merge point that the car undertook you on the way back and definitely keep out of the cycle box!!
This is such a helpful video; I passed my Mod 2 in August 2020 but I love watching other people's experiences 👍
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it.
Brilliant,very informative and helpful.
Thanks
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching 👍🛵
Yeah I believe it was a bit different back then ! Thanks for watching, hope to see you soon !
I would stop at the first white line to allow the cycle Lane to be clear & unblocked.
Hope to go tyre-kicking this weekend, determined to find something with a bit of style eg Moto Guzzi or Triumph, having missed out on owning a Vespa (or similar) during the scooter years 🛵 👌
23:45 - Perhaps this is where you went a bit too wide, turning left?
Best place for ‘ L’ plates is in the bin lol 👍
nice to know there at least one lorry driver watching out for the scooterists !😂 L plates have their place and purpose, but street cred is zero !😂
Well done and congratulations mate 👍🛵🇬🇧
Cheers mate
Brilliant video
Thankyou for all your input
Helped a great deal 💯
guy on the bike - LEGEND hahaha !!! Thank you for your video!
Ha ha that's one word for him at least 🤣 Thanks for watching. 🛵👍
Brilliant watch mate well done 👍
Cheers Tony. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. I'll check out your scootering videos too🛵👍
At 39:09 you go through a red light? Just as well you'd lost the instructor or this would have been a fail.
Fair point. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching 👍🏻🛵
It's a far cry from when I passed mine in 1982 under the ancient system, where the examiner stood at the kerb and observed you riding past, sticking his clipboard up in the air to test your emergency stop.. 🤪
Ha ha, I've heard that a few times ! 🤣 Thanks for watching. 🛵👍
Hi great video I am on the same route next week and your video was excellent as I don’t know the area
I thing where you went wide was as you went around and turned left just after the one way street
Hi Philip , thanks for watching ! Good luck with your test, keep us posted on the result !🤞
Good for you mate , ye get rid of them plates, stay safe 👍👏✊
Thanks john , they've already gone !🤣 thanks for watching .
Brilliant vid and congrats for passing I’ll be going there in two days to do same 👍
Im from stockport and know exactly where that is! Never knew a test centre was there though! I now ownca yamaha mt125 and looking to do my a1 i now know where to go
Hi Ethan, glad the video helps. I never knew either ! Good luck with the tests. Ride safe 👍🛵
@@RoyalAlloyRider thankyou i appreciate it! You too!
Passed my mod1 at Bredbury :D this week
Well done mate . You ride a motorbike or scooter ? Thanks for watching. Ride safe.
@@RoyalAlloyRider motorbike 🏍 passed mod2 on Friday also :D
Am I wrong but don't you have to do your test on a bigger bike I didn't think you could do the test on a scooter
Well done!
Thank you ! Thanks for watching.🛵👍
Well done pleased for you mate ....ride safe 👍
Nice comment, kind words, thank you !✊
Crackin video m8 im 32 hopefully the last time but i done my cbt last august got myself a lexmoto michigan 125cc great bike will have for another couple of years trying to save up for my direct access for when my cbt runs out then trade in against a bigger bike cool scooter by the way i used to scoot about on a 50cc sym and my m8 had a union jack vespa had a few shots had to pressure him into it mind u miss the scooter days 30 mph just rollin
Brilliant vid mate 👌👌
Please let me know if anyone out there has done their test on their royal alloy
Yes Adrian I did. What size engine do you have, and which category test are you doing ?
@@RoyalAlloyRider I have a got 125, I'm looking to do mod 1 and mod 2, get rid of l plates and bloody cbt's
@@RoyalAlloyRider 125cc. Mod 1 and mod 2
Any advice for doing the mod 1 on a scooter? (eg no clutch control as its an automatic)
Most of these roads look like they have a 30 speed limit, looks quite hard to tell whether it's a 20 tbh
Yes you can
Did you have any problems doing test on a 125 auto scooter I want to do mine on my gts 125
Hello mate, I agree I think I got lucky ! Maybe he just liked my scoot !😂 Either way I was grateful to lose the L's !😁 Thanks for watching 👍
Well done great job !
Thank you Steve and thanks for watching !
Loving the bike nice with the blue & white beautiful machine.
