The reason why buffing other bases isn't great is because of the 30 health bases. The 30 health no ability bases should still be an option compared to the 25 health bases. The simplest solves for ECL is bring the ambush down to 3 or less or bring the base health down to 20. 4 drops include kanan, k2, wampa. 4 drops start becoming mid to late. You aren't playing 2 4 drops till 8 resources which means they are still pretty strong individuals in mid to late scenarios. 3 and lower keeps it as an early game tempo card.
I think buffing the bases would be a good idea in a 1 set vacuum. Those other bases do have better utility in draft and sealed as well currently. i'm looking to see these just flat out replaced it future sets where it doesn't matter and there are other great options versus what we have now.
For sure, looking forward to new ones for yellow and blue. I do believe ECL will hand around for a very very long time, unless they print 1-2 bombs that straight counter it
U really well articulated your points and I agree completely as someone who runs ECL it feels like a huge play that gets me outta way to many holes , I’m in the camp that says ban that shii lol
For everyone saying "It's too early to consider..." It's really not. Right now is the best time to set expectations that FFG has no problems addressing card balance when necessary (though I prefer proper card design and testing to flashy initial releases). Card bans are preferable to erratums, but I think bases and leaders are exceptions to that preference. If these cards are too strong there's no real way to address them since they are always in play and you only get one anyway. Leaders are also iconic in a way that makes outright bans hard to swallow. No, I think FFG should liberally use erratums on base cards and leaders until they are just right in the power department. Anyway, there's a few cards in the game that I think should be carefully looked at. ECL is a primary suspect along with Leader Boba's deploy stats and Superlaser Technician in general. It's a bit discouraging that the rest of the game feels so carefully balanced that these clear outliers were allowed through Q&A.
ECL is very strong but I think it is still extremely early to be talking about changing a card text or a ban. I also think part of the problem is that green is inherently a strong color. If ECL didn't exist I still think a lot of decks would play green, even as a third color and if your playing green your probably playing ECL. Thats just the way it is. Plus it's not like it's a secret when your opponent is playing it. You know its there. Gotta try to play around it. Nobody should ever be blindsided by it. Let's give the meta some time to adjust and see what comes out in the next set or two. If it's still feels busted after that then maybe we start to explore our options.
The force sent me a vision of future 6 drops that send ECL into hyperdrive . But seriously, Fetts Firespray and Guerrilla Attack Pod already break it , giving 5-8 damage extra to base plus a unit kill to swing the last turn . I agree it’s early but I’ve seen enough of the meta and decks to be sure . Just offering my perspective, but thanks for the comment , cheers
ECL is also the only base that can affect Leaders by allowing you to immediately Ambush any unit and swing at the opposing Leader. The issue with ECL is how powerful the effect of being able to apply Ambush to almost any unit at almost any time during the game. Designers and players often underestimate the power of having access to an ability on board at any time.
I don think there is any chance they will change the effect of any card. They could make a clarifying card text maybe. So I think we will potentially see ECL being banned from play in the future.
Love seeing my opponents with ECL, then they realize 90% of my units are space units and their ambush is now useless. Tbh ive won more games against it than ive lost and i run the basic 30hp bases.
haha I love this content. This is what we need more of!!! LETS GOOOO
Subscribed by the way!
Solid points, I like your suggestions.

Legend has it that Set 2 will bring balance to The Force.
How did that go?
@@juanbonilla1006 No idea, stopped playing, I'd have to watch current vids

Part of me wonders if we'll see see a base or unit that cancels the first ambush each turn.

Nothing has been addressed

Even 4 is too generous. I vote 3 or less -- and I play ECL in both my decks.
They could also make the base HP lower. Maybe to like 20?
These base epic action count as 1 turn action or you can use the base epic action and attack?
You need to use an action to use the bases, but in ECL's case that action allows you to attack with a unit you play immediately (ambush)
Does ECL play the card for free?
Frontline Shuttle.
Good card !
