Yeah, Not sure which you’re referring to.. If it’s the stitching, there seems to be a lot of QC issues on these. I’m almost wondering if they just had to rush them out… 🤔 If it’s the heel/foot slide issue, that’s definitely a last issue that NEEDS to be fixed if they’re wanting these to be a functional boot.
I was about to pull the trigger on these, but then i saw Rose Anvils' video on their colab with Jim Green with the Rugged African Trooper, and I placed my pre-order on those instead. Wish they were cap toe, but everything else about them seem far better off, and that means more to me.
Nice! I was gonna pull the trigger on those. But I already have the drifters, and my nicks coming lol. Oh, yeah! If you’re looking for a functional boot, imo. You’re even better off going with their normal ranger, or razorback than the challenger. My opinion on them has completely changed after trying other boots. Thursday just used high quality materials. It’s more of a show/casual boot, than they are a work boot.
I would try some new heels. It should not be much for a cobbler to put some less thick heel cap on. I have the same problem with mine. My stitching is spot on, no defects at all. I know what your saying about another expensive pair of boots that don't fit right. I have a pair of Rancourt boots from Maine that don't fit right and I am stuck with a boot that is too painful to wear for more than an hour. It' was worst then my Iron Rangers that took forever to brake in. I do love the CF Stead leather on the boots.
Yeah, I was thinking on bringing them to a cobbler to essentially rebuild the heel, and see how that goes. Sucks spending that much on a boot, and then it’s (almost) unwearable.
I just don't think these are meant for work. They seem to be for the casual wearer who wants the PNW look. Which is me. I've held off on ordering JKs or Whites since I discovered them a few years ago. I've been waiting for these. A little disappointed in some of the details, and these are the small batch artisan Black Labels?!?
Yeah, I was originally gonna hold off on JK’s or Whites when I got these. But then encounter all the problems with them. So I scratched it and got Drew’s 10-inch loggers for work. Wouldn’t look back! I then got the Drifter 3’s from Whites x Rose Anvil, and absolutely love those! Now I’m just waiting on my Nicks which went into production Monday. 😁
Yeah, I was gonna pull the trigger on those. But I figured I already got the drifter 3’s, and I pulled the trigger on a special pair of Nick’s. So, I’m already waiting on some GREAT boots!
Great video. I'm a little lost though. What't the effect in wearing the Challenger with the different heel stack? Is your foot sliding to the bottom front or something? I checked out pics of some JK and Drew's boots and they look pretty much the same.
Essentially, that’s my issue. My feet slide forward, and the angle makes my weight shift to the balls of my feet. So, the leather stack is sanded down at a steep angle on the challengers. The nicks and Drew’s boots are a noticeably less steep angle. Also, Drew’s and nicks boots use a leather arch support under the insole, but above the midsole. Which I think is what is missing in the challenger boot to make it less steep of an angle in the heel.
The wax will be ok if ye worried about wet weather a bit, although I don't know how long 'til rubs off but then boot should be able to take abrasion, but any Thursday neigh really MEANT for demanding work, anyway. Most the people who buy the Challenger or Thunder is using them for casual try t' look like hipster lumberjack, anyway.
Yeah, the stitch is different than Builder Pro [I don't have Urban Logger], but the overall construction is different, too. They are also almost half the price of typical PNW, tho.
I just received my black and brown challenger, mine has the same issue like yours. Also the leather has dark spots . Thank you .

Word on the Streets:
Rugged Trooper and heal colab Anvil / JM
Side Note: No army will go non-gusseted.

Ye just want the taller heel but don't need the arch support? Can get logger heel boots for half the price these Thirsty ones from AMZN brands, etc.
