    I'm wearing $600+ PNW boots , 9 inches tall . That high gusset is great when hosing off mud . Keeping all debris and water out. No puddles potholes that are too deep for me. That Challenger boot is a great opportunity to enjoy PNW functionality at lower price :)

    I have a pair in the CF Stead Rambler leather. Had them a few weeks now. The build and quality are like a pair of Nicks and Whites. They fit great right out of the box. No major issues so far. They are a serious boot and the weight makes it so. Of course, I just dropped $750 on a pair of Russell Backcountry boots in the Timberline black oak leather. Well see when they get here in 3-4 months.

    I was looking between these ones and the whiskey but I think your video really sold me on this stone rambler. Great video quality and production to. Informative and actually showing the boot in all its angles. Subbed up. Hope to see more from you.

    I bought the Thursday Loggers and I will say, if these are similar, take them to a cobbler. I walked right out of a heel cap on my left foot and lost it because they weren’t nailed in. Now, Thursday’s customer service was top notch and they replaced them for me and I had a cobbler put in nails for free.

    1 mo, 6 mo, 1 year, and a comparison to something at a similar level like PNW, Drew’s Mexican made pnw, Parkhurst, Truman, or Bordon level would be awesome. There’s 3-5 content ideas for you too. There are still very few reviews on these even from channels that have been given tester boots by Thursday in the past. Thanks for the details about the fit and feel. 👍

      Just received my pair in stone rambler. Only came with one pair of laces (the over-length set). Have emailed them asking for the other two sets of laces to be sent. They seem pretty decently assembled on first look. Sizing is as per Thursday website (I’m a 10 in sneaker and ordered a 9.5 in these), and fit is good. Time will tell 👍

    I have a perspective on the "boot snobbery" that's somewhat unique. When I had lower income, I cared very much about the "traditional details" because every pair was a significant purchase. The boots *MUST* be worth it after spending so much money, and justified it with all the "traditional details" and "handmade" this and that. Any notion that significantly cheaper boots can even be considered close or similar to the more expensive boots was mentally threatening. It created the thought that money was overspent needlessly or that I was scammed somehow. The snobby nitpicking was a mental defense mechanism against that thought, and I'm sure many others are in the same position.

      I agree. That heel with no arch support does not look comfortable. Also the tapered toe, without an anatomical design is questionable at best. It looks like a captain, thrown onto a logger heel sole. I'll wait to see if they make improvements.

    • @Dukeofmamucas
      @Dukeofmamucas 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ part of the problem is those the Pnw last are so specific. As far as the Arch go’s Wesco’s 9165, and Nicks/Franks have an HNW that are very comfortable . Realistically though the 55 last is so widely used in the Pnw . They could have easily got some. It doesn’t seemed to be trade marked or anything. Like whites does use the 4811, but Frank does have some of them in his shop. I think he rebuilds a lot of smokejumpers

    I just saw on a Thursday boot enthusiast web page that the Challenger's gusset does not completely seal off the tongue from allowing debris etc down into the boot. This is a huge oversight and was a design element according to the Thursday boot response to that user

    • @KevinMoura-xk1ps
      @KevinMoura-xk1ps หลายเดือนก่อน

      I saw that too and it’s definitely a real problem for me what’s the point of it being gusseted if you leave holes for debris and water to get in if you’re going to have that then don’t gusset the tongue no point. Definitely was thinking of these or the thunder but with the holes in the gussets it’s now a hard pass.

    I picked up a Drew's logger boot for $350 new, made in Leon Mexico. These boots from Thursday remind me of them (they also have their boots made in Mexico). At 1.8-2.0 mm, the leather is a little thin for a logger work boot. I have to honestly say, at 3lbs per boot (Drew's), it is too heavy for me. I do light construction and really don't need a heavy duty boot, my redwings do just fine. Nice boots though, if you need them for heavy duty work. What is the size and how much does it weigh?

    • @TheStyleCantina

  • @mikethomasmcm
    @mikethomasmcm 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    While I agree that Brannock (or some established standard) should be used for sizing, I think it’s a bit unfair to complain about using sneaker sizing. Essentially every other boot manufacturer is ignoring Brannock sizing and tend to be a whole size down from Brannock. Using sneaker sizing at least breaks down the barrier to entry. It is a complete guessing game when it comes to sizing for most boot brands

    Going to the UK in a few months, I have a pair of Captains that I’ve had since 2018, and are well broken in, had the soles re done in 2021. I’m on the market for new boots. How is the walkability in these? I’d be walking for miles in the Uk and it will be cold there, insulation ok?

    • @TheStyleCantina
      @TheStyleCantina  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Everybody’s gait is different. The bigger heel ought to keep your foot in the strong portion of your walk and the thicker leather should provide a bit more coverage than the slightly more thin captains. You’ll have to break them in to see if you’re going on longer daily excursions. I’d bring my captains personally just because I have them broken in.

    My experience with Thursday Boots was awful. Both the first pair of Captains and the replacement pair were flawed. Customer service actually suggested that I take the replacement boots to a cobbler for repairs. I have all of the emails and photographs. My emails to management went unanswered. Getting a refund was very difficult. My negative review was never posted. Maybe Thursday has improved their product and customer service policy? I don’t know. I can say my experience with Thursday Boots was not good.

    they do appear to be good value for the money but they are just so boring looking. they missed the opportunity. contrasting stitching, leathers, or even contrasting midsole/heal-stack would have made these pop. It's one of the reasons fashion boot buyers flock to Nicks and Whites is the ability to create a boot that stands out, not muted out with mono color

    Real boot people know that 350 all the way up to 800 is not scary as you say since that was thursdays saying better boot at lower price , noooo you get what you pay for and diplomat and captians are cute but truth is a cheap boot for 200.

  • @Sturnburn772
    @Sturnburn772 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I agree with your sentiments as a whole. I think this boot is a big f*** you to the elitist boot snob community that bows down at the altar of the PNW boot makers and scoffs at anything less than an $700 boot. This is exceptional and is 90% of what Nicks and Whites offers for 40% of the price. The snobs have nothing concrete to actually complain about so they are nitpicking some of the proportions, but in my eyes, these have fantastic proportions. Perhaps not as good as they can be, but thats okay. Its built in the work boot style and they will refine it as thursday always does. I have my challengers in golden brown and have been enjoying them so far. They are even more of a steal at a retail price less than $300...insane

    Thursday boots look like a duck, quacks like a duck and tastes like a cheap knock off of a crappy Chicken McNugget. Look i get it, you want an Urban Logger, White’s Semi Dress or Truman but with zero break in that you can poop and scoop after your cockapoo in that looks tough cause raking the yard on Saturday morning is hard. Rambler is one of the easiest break ins you can possibly get, i have Truman, Viberg and Benzeins made with versions of it, it’s 99% water resistant and awesome if 8oz thick. For me the ‘challenge’ of these boots is outside of a perceived tough aesthetic they have zero practical use, it would be like running a marathon in a steel toe carbon plated professional race shoe, there is no need for this to exist.
    Just my two cents.
    P.S. if you’re a true boot ‘nerd’ this would never ever show up on a desired boot list.
    🤷‍♂️🙄🧐

    • @BWM135
      @BWM135 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Rambler leather is 4 to 5 oz max. Thin enough that Truman was getting low spots in the hides, and now lines the interior of boots made with that leather to ensure the boots come in at 5oz (2mm thick).
      The unlined variant used by Parkhurst is thinner still, and a fairly easy break-in as most of Stead's upper offerings go.

    Love the boots, but not so sure about the heel. It looks like a heel straight out of footwear used by women who appear in a burlesque show. Very feminine looking. It seems that that’s popular with boots made in the PNW.
