Yup, in terms of materials they are may be worth it, but is easy to tell and evidence that the last is not designed for that heel height, it is super unbalanced and I'm not afraid to said that they will be uncomfortable with the time. Is not just the materials is a matter of designed and comfort for the customer
Was going to opt for these, as im interested in PNW style construction, until i saw the new thunder model they released with a shorter heel which i find more versatile and attractive. Cant wait to check them out, theyll be here Wednesday
Looks like the response to Thursday's stitchdown models has been very positive. This year Parkhurst started offering some stitchdown construction models, too, and their models seem to be getting good reviews. I think there are a lot of "boot guys" who like the stitchdown construction. Like you, I wonder if this Thursday model would have been even more popular with other outsole options. I would think people looking at Thursday don't really need a big old outsole, and to me it looks a bit out of place on this boot.
I just did a 100+ Hour review of these boots as well. They are built to last for sure! High quality materials, and built amazing! HOWEVER, as other commenters have said, the last they used in combination of the heel height is not how a boot is supposed to be. It's shaped like a slide. I used my Challengers 85% work, 15% for casual use. It's not good for work, considering the shape. All my weight wanted to shift to the ball of my foot when standing, and walking around the houses I do work for rather than my heel. I wanted to love these boots. But I recommend just saving an extra $40-$50 and buy a drew's boot if it's for work. If it's for show/casual use. Sure you could go for the challenger. However, I still would recommend saving more and going with truman. Also, the fully gusseted tongue is fake. There are breath holes where the vamp is stitched to the tongue on the underside of the first eyelet. EDIT: I'm specifically talking about the Black Label challenger though as far as price, and unique leathers. If someone buys the regular challenger. Then I'd recommend buying Thursdays "logger" or Captain over these, until they fix that slide shape, if the person is wanting a good boot, at a good value.
Yeah i honestly love my loggers for casual wear, after watching your review videos I canceled my order and got a refund. Hoping they fix the last issue with the sliding in the future.
@ Yeah, I’ve been wearing my Drew’s, Desperado by Thursday, and the “logger” from Thursday everywhere lately, while I wait on my White’s and Nick’s boots. I feel they’re super comfy.
This leather is supposed to show a lot of dramatic wear right away or something, so I returned them. I had to swap out the more expensy "whiskey" color and got a pair that I don't know if somebody tried them on or they have loose grain a bit, too, but the lower panels and thing are slightly different color than the other panels which look more blackish, so I'm tempted to send them back except also curious how they will wear in compared to the Rugged "Grand Canyon" leather. Um, they are definitely NEIGH the same as the Nick's boots that may be too mucht' go into all now, except the taller heel stack that doesn't seem t' have as much arch t' match or something, and the sidewalls that don't seem to meet up the insole or something. Unsure how that will perform over time, but found them much better underfoot w' neoprene inserts and most of the weight is the outsole and heel stack since the leather pretty thin for "work" boot.
Obviously lots guys won't spend twice as much for pair o' boots, and may still balk at $300 or $350, etc. I'm on the fence if they are quite worth the $350 for the "nicer" leather when it comes with the other odd problems or idiosyncrasies. The cap toe I don't really need, but I see now that the Thunder boot that I thought was more comparable leaves this off but also loses the heel stack and at least some of the extra arch. ?? If they came out with that at the same time, I would have been more inclined to order both styles and compare them.
Builder Pro has Quick Ship and Tradesman program things, and that's not the only model that they offer, but can have more customizations than Urban Logger or something, but the customization stuff lead times were about 4 months this year. Not sure about the other companies' lead times, but if you have "normal" size feet, some of them will be in stock whereas I would hafta pay custom prices for the basic model boots for White's and others, which just makes it more worthwhile to wait and get more what I wanted in a nicer boot, then. My Quck Ship I ordered last Thanksgiving and I think got them early January, so not too bad.
Yes, I have complained before plenty elsewhere that this company wants to try and take over a whole bunch of market-share areas without REALLY mastering their initial one as so many seem to suppose, and their cust serv is a bit slow and somewhat ineffective at really addressing some of the serious problems that the only caveat remains FOR THE PRICE [they are what they are, etc.] that I just run out of words if I "recommend" them or don't since their legions of fans can't find anything wrong or whate'er..........
Yea I think Thursday made this to show they can do it. They came out with a bunch a models, it’s kinda wild how big their catalog is now. They are more integrated now, so they can control Their costs. I wonder if they consolidate their portfolio. For example discontinue their MITUSA boots replace it with the black label line.
another person that reviewed this boot and said he felt like the last wasn't very good coz his foot felt like it was slipping down to the toe area. and i agree. thursday keeps making weird ass lasts.
I bought a pair and went to my local shoemaker and asked him to reduce the heel by 1 cm, which isn't much, but it made a big difference. They are much more stable and my toes don't move forward.
The height of the heel concerns me on two counts: 1. It seems like it would be difficult to press the pedals in a car with the exaggerated angle the heel creates. 2. It also seems like it would be easy to roll your ankle. Just not feeling this heel height. Thanks for another great video.
The QC is not really amazing (particularly the sole) but the customer service is amazing. You got a problem, they’ll probably send you another one and let you keep the other…
It's nice of you to credit Rose Anvil, but Heddels has been showing cut in half boots on their website for many years. Also, Alden always had cut in half boots in their stores. So, he took their idea and paid them back by "exposing" what they had in the open all along!
I have no idea what they were thinking with the slanted forward heel stack. I was excited, looked down and busted out laughing. Like who the hell slants the hell stack forward. Theres all sorts of biomechnics reasons logger heel stacks are made a certain way. Not to mention there is no mexican, PNW, or even dress shoe that does this. Thursday needs to fix this...
I like the construction, the look is nice, the only problem I had with mine was the tightness and it had a lot of blemishes, light scuffs if you will. So when I tried to exchange it for the tightness they told me they wouldn’t do it if it had “creases, scuffs, scratches or wear on soles” and since my order was considered international I’d lose money for all the shipping especially if I sent them in and they rejected them for scratches and scuffs I didn’t even do, then there was the waiting game, I would’ve gotten my new boots almost two months later; 10 days to send, 30 days for them to accept them, 10 days to send me my new pair, so I just kept them, hopefully they stretch out a bit and I’ll try to use some leather cream to fix the imperfections, I got the predator whiskey btw
It's a design flaw if you are going to use it as a work boot , in wet conditions. As a fashion boot for a white collar middle class schmoe, not so much. White's and Nick's do high quality work boots, Thursday does good fashion boots at a reasonable price. I don't see the problem.
@@fatchance1973 they shouldn’t have gusseted the tongue since it’s just a fashion boot then. They tried to make a work boot trying to match what the PNW companies are building but failed with those holes.
@@KevinMoura-xk1ps . How many people buying this from Thursday will be actually using this as a logging work boot? If Nick's or Whites's were doing this with their work line , I could understand the Bruhaha. The demographic buying this will never get this boot dirty. It's like how the majority of Jeep Wrangler owner's will never go offroading with their cars, but complain that the Wrangler doesn't come standard with 35's or disconnecting swaybars. This boot is PNW style boot, not a work boot. Corporate middle managers buying this boot to wear in the office and complaining about the holes , is the height of absurdity. Trust me no one will notice in the office or your local chic uptown restaurant/bar.
@ I get that most will never work in these but why go through the trouble to gusset the tongue just to leave deliberate holes at the start of the gusset just don’t bother gusseting the tongue then, it offers no value besides some false advertising is all.
I know for a fact that ALL complaints are lack of understanding of Thursday Boot Company. It is for SHOW and TELL only! Not made for construction work but more for business casual or to just show off not to do any hard labor in. If you do major work in them and have issues that is your fault because Thursday is the same as always, showman first.
