  • The 1962-63 NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics featured two legends during different phases in their career. Bob Cousy, at 34 years of age, was playing in his -- potentially -- last game. Jerry West, only 24 years of age, is trying to get his 1st ever NBA championship.
This video will showcase a statistical breakdown of the 1st quarter of Game 6 in the 1963 NBA Finals.
    Enjoy!

As a lifelong Lakers fan of almost 47 years of age, I rate Cousy as greater than West. West may have been the superior shooter and scorer, but Cousy was a superb passer and was the floor general for many of those Celtic championship teams. Cousy seemed to have a greater effect on the course of the game even if he didn't score. Also, Cousy won an MVP Award as a PG; something West never did.

I mean west won FMVP as a PG ...even if they rewarded players that accolade before the introduction...I doubt if cousy ever wins that

Also, west is a much better defender
