  • In this video I share some tips on how to achieve a 5 star rating for your food business when you register with your local council.
I share useful tips and a little insight as to what you might expect, what the inspector might ask to see and some of the paperwork it's essential to have.

Thank you so much - very helpful! I got my "awaiting inspection" sticker through for my home kitchen today - setting up a pizza stall pop-up - and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the paperwork. The SFBB booklet is waiting for me on the table as I type this...! :o)

Hiya, this was such a useful video. Did you make a video on the paperwork?

@@rachellescakes Thank you for replying. At the end of the video you mentioned making another video on paperwork and compliance if viewers requested it. But not to worry. 🤗👍🏽

Thank you so much for this it was incredibly helpful! Did you say that it isn't an issue that I don't have 2 sinks in the kitchen?

Hi Abi, yes that's correct if you are a home baker. They would prefer it if you had a seperate hand washing sink. But they wont stop you from trading if you dont. As long as you carry out good hygiene. This is in the UK I cant speak for other countries.

Hi Rachelle, a great video - I have a few questions if you don’t mind?
1)half of my kitchen is tiled but half is painted - does this matter? Should it all be tiled?
      2) can you store dog food (dried) in a seperate kitchen cupboard or should it be stored in a different room?
      Many thanks, Lauren

@@laurenburns6142 well none of my kitchen is tiled! It doesnt matter. What matters is that it is clean. If you are a home baker it is unlikely you will have a commercial style kitchen where everything is stainless steel and tiled.
As long as your dog food is in a sealed container thats fine.
As long as its contained and wont cross contaminate the human food then great. In a separate cupboard if you had one better.
I dont like to keep my dried pet food in my human food cupboard because it has a strong smell for example.

@@rachellescakes ahhh thank you that’s really reassuring. I saw something that said walls must be washable (I assumed this meant tiled!) thanks again! Lauren x
