There are many exemptions and you can just get your home kitchen certified as a commercial kitchen. You don’t have to be all stainless countertops. You can have granite. I have a wired 4’ shelf that holds all my separate pots, pans and storage, and 2nd fridge for prep. I got exemptions for non commercial range, Microwave, and refrigerator and freezer. Everything else was within standard. Also exempted fire suppression because I don’t serve customers in same building as kitchen.
"Thank u for sharing this info, I'm currently attending culinary school online getting my associates degree in plant-based culinary arts. I live in Georgia so cant wait for this to start. I was considering being a private chef for groups and online personal virtual cooking classes because of the current laws. Thanku."❤
I want to do a creperie but start from home because renting a kitchen is just too much for me. I’m not even cooking just adding fruits to crepes. Can I get my home kitchen permitted with a fridge, 3 basin sink, and prep table. That’s literally all I need.
Is this in Idaho and Utah at all? You can’t ship or sell candy over your state lines unless u have a commercial kitchen which equals a lot of majority of Etsy seller. BIG BIG fines by the Feds and your ins won’t cover if you’re breaking the food laws. SOOOO in Utah you CANNOT use your own kitchen, you have to have a second kitchen they say. Idaho think is the same. Reply here and tell us what your health dept are saying and telling you.
You'll have to check with your state and the Cooks Alliance who is spearheading the MEHKO movement. You can sell candy from your home kitchen without shipping it right?
@@ChefShelleyB So also I should look up the organization called the Cooks Alliance you were saying correct? They should be able to help me navigate a bit maybe?
