James arness was a real life hero. He hit the beaches at anzio as a twenty year old. This was world war two and he showed up. Thank you!!!!! This old woman has discovered you now because I had no TV back than. This world is a better place because of you. Wish I had met you. Wish I had known you.
Aime, I feel as you do. I was 12 when the show was on, but we had no TV. Now, at 80, living in Montana, I can love him, and watch him... every day. Stay happy in Heaven Matt. See you soon. You are loved forever.

No TV for me, worked at fifteen, hard childhood. Now I get to see what I missed. No Sense to emerse myself in this World. I want what is left of my life to be as happy as it can be. Not selfish just a woman, raised in a time where a woman was devoted to everyone else, but herself. Being a woman, I have served others long enough. So, yes, I tune in to James Arness every chance I get. Here in San Diego they are having a Jim Arness month on INSP. He made movies too, and I get to watch those this Month. Have a happy rest of your life Marjorie.

I just don't understand why AB quit the show after 19 yrs. I read somewhere that she was fired! But she came back for the first movie some years after the show ended. The movie was called, "Gunsmoke: Return to Dodge" Matt Dillon was retired in it. He had become a rancher. I also liked JA in "How The West Was Won"
After twenty years of those looks they gave each other, and we know they loved each other. How could the writers not have them finally together at the shows conclusion.

You've heard the expression "less is more." I think that is part of the reason Matt and Kitty made such a deep feeling couple. There was a deep connection that endured without a lot of words. They treated each other with a great deal of respect and love without actually vocalizing every emotion. For him "what a man!" And for her "what a lady!".
I saw an interview with James Arness a few years before he passed away, and he was explaining why the writers did not put Matt and Kitty in a romantic relationship.

One of my favorite programs. Back in the "black and white" days was great. The scenery looked like you were right there, dirt streets, dirty cloths, and all. The color programs kind of grew on me, and I like them as well. They're much better than the degrading, senseless, and unless for entertainment these days. I do like them with Festus, over Chrster though.
