If homestead can upgrade some of the fan amenities, then that will improve the way NASCAR views the track and possibly it could be moved to being the championship race again.
Cota can be one of the best tracks in the world. In Formula 1 it's routinely the best race of the year. But in NASCAR it's been a bit frustrating since there are so many crashes towards the end. But NASCAR can fix that pretty easily.
They need to make it a night race if they do. Otherwise, there won’t be anything special about it. I was disappointed when it went back to being a day race, as it became just another by-the-book race. The Roval changed that. If the Gen7 can be improved for road courses, and the stupid stage cautions get scrapped, then the racing will improve immensely while still keeping venue variety during the Playoffs.

i'm sorry but you were WAY too harsh on los angeles. the tagline about trying new things?? yes while charlotte motor speedway and its roval layout have proved that off-the-wall concepts can wear out over time & actually hurt the sport as a result, it can be a benefit if done right. and not to mention, auto club speedway & virtually every intermediate fit the same bill in the 90s and 2000s, yet look at where we are today with them. i will note that i'm a lifelong southern california native so there may be bias, but i've also watched nascar for almost 20 years so i reckon i know what i'm talking about. i will say though, as someone that was at the clash in 2023, it was painful to watch and quite frankly ridiculous. i also attended the event in 2022, though, and while the embarrassment was down the smaller field size also produced notably worse racing than 2023, so a medium between the '22 & 23 car counts for the 2024 main event is probably what should be shot for by nascar. but for the reasoning in the first paragraph, and the fact that you've actually never experienced the los angeles clash irl, i will say that your take on it in this video was spot-off. - *btw i thought your take on indy was frustrating, the gen-4 car in the 2000s proved that with the right rules package the brickyard can be good consistently
I forgot about Charlotte being a mile and a half too because it’s just so good. It’s #1 in my book and if we could have the coke 600 replace the Daytona 500 I would do that in a heartbeat
My sweet lord I hope NASCAR execs happen to see this video. At this point NASCAR should hire you and Eric Estepp as consultants. I echo many of your opinions. Great video Jaret
I’ve been to Michigan, Martinsville (3x), Daytona RC, Charlotte RC (2x), and Watkins Glen (2x). Martinsville racing pre-Next Gen was amazing, but the facilities there need a MAJOR renovation. The bathrooms are the worst of any sports facility I’ve been to. Charlotte and Daytona were the nicest tracks overall and both have great RC racing (yes I know Nacsar doesn’t use the RC anymore). And Watkins Glen has the best area around the track to enjoy which is why it was the race I went to this year as I could only go to one.
I was at the most recent 600 and even though we had to fight the weather a little the vibe was awesome hell there was this big ole guy was dancing and eating chicken wings whenever Kevin harvick took the lead and the action was incredible martinsville was great as well the racing is ok and witnessing the hail melon at the start and finish line was incredible
as a Formula 1 fan its interesting seeing how much local officials in the states heavily dislike street courses. Other countries dont have an issue with them.
Went to my first NASCAR race at Texas yesterday. If thats the worst track then woah! I need to go to other races. That’s the most fun I’ve had at a sporting event in a long time.
Mesa gone ten plus times and while thesa last few hsve been bad Mesa has gotten out in 20 minutes before out of martinsville itsa overall been muy muy muy easy to get out of thesa track
I want Nashville to succeed. I live about 2 and half hours from there. But the traffic in 2021 was a nightmare, and the lack of being able to take coolers into the track (for a late June in Tennessee race) is a bad move.
I'd like to see North Wilksboro be a Points Race in the Cup Series, as well as the Xfinity and Truck Series. They just need to repave the track and update the commodities.
I hope nascar finds a way to get charlotte oval for 2 races and the roval, the only realistic way i see this happening is if they make the championship 4 a 3 race round including the charlotte oval
I remember hewring stories when i was a kid that talladega was haunted that it was built on an indian burial ground even though im sure its not true gives a cool creepy atmosphere to nascars scariest track
I’ve been to most of the tracks to watch NASCAR. Just this year I went to Darlington, Bristol (Night Race) and Homestead and I guarantee that Darlington is the best track I’ve been to, the history and the racing is the best.
As someone who has gone to Michigan every year since 2018 (with the exception of 2020) the traffic in and out is absolutely trash. I mainly blame the state police for not really policing the traffic better and also crowding county highways up the ass when it's not necessary
Cota and the Charlotte Roval are way to high and Sonoma, Michigan and Richmond are way to low. My personal top 10 currently: 1) Daytona 2) Talladega 3) Charlotte 4) Darlington 5) Kansas 6) Martinsville 7) Homestead 8) Michigan 9) Atlanta 10) Walkins Glen If Nascar can fix the short track package then Bristol and Martinsville will probably return to my top 5 but for now it’s just too hard to pass, especially at Bristol.
My top 5 as of now would be: 1. Daytona 2. Charlotte 3. Bristol 4. Kansas 5. Dover Pre-2022 Martinsville would be number 1 but racing doesnt show it right now
I'll stand by my hometown track of Sonoma, it's a way better track to be there in person. It's the only true road course that can be seen from just about anywhere
I was gonna comment on why Homestead was so low, then I realized this video is a year old Edit: I guess this years homestead race (especially the playoff race) doesn't negate anything you said
NASCAR has to wake up and put Dover in June, it’s way too rainy in April and May in Delaware. I was pissed seeing it still in April when the 2024 schedule came out.
As much as I wanna disagree with having been to this track every year except 2022 because of covid concerns. The show that Sonoma puts on definitely hasn’t been incredible. 2016 was outstanding but then you look at 2018 where Truex won by 10 seconds, did it again the next year and again this year. The drivers however like the track, im biased but the drivers liking it have to mean something.
Put the roval at Gateway's spot and Dover right below it. Then just got down the list as it after that. Dover is very underrated. Roval I'm not ready to give up on it.
Based on tracks I've been to, either Daytona or Charlotte is my favorite, but I'm visiting Talladega for the first time next year so maybe that could change
I just got into nascar Saturday was the 2nd race i have watched. First one was last year when almadinger won but i decided to start watchint this year because i didnt know what was going on. And how does nascar decide cars starting positions. And if somone leads for most of the race and finishes 2nd is that better or just getting first is better

i will note that i'm a lifelong southern california native so there may be bias, but i've also watched nascar for almost 20 years so i reckon i know what i'm talking about. i will say though, as someone that was at the clash in 2023, it was painful to watch and quite frankly ridiculous. i also attended the event in 2022, though, and while the embarrassment was down the smaller field size also produced notably worse racing than 2023, so a medium between the '22 & 23 car counts for the 2024 main event is probably what should be shot for by nascar.
but for the reasoning in the first paragraph, and the fact that you've actually never experienced the los angeles clash irl, i will say that your take on it in this video was spot-off.

*btw i thought your take on indy was frustrating, the gen-4 car in the 2000s proved that with the right rules package the brickyard can be good consistently
Ok so hot take. Homestead is mid. It’s got the wall ride gimmick and that’s it. Las Vegas and Kansas are leagues better.
I forgot about Charlotte being a mile and a half too because it’s just so good. It’s #1 in my book and if we could have the coke 600 replace the Daytona 500 I would do that in a heartbeat
Wouldn't call the wall riding a gimmick its literally physics, but I agree that the racing at Ch1arlotte, Kansas, and LV are much better
@ChewyGum, everything in racing is physics. Doesn’t make it not a gimmick. Drafting is a gimmick and also physics
My sweet lord I hope NASCAR execs happen to see this video. At this point NASCAR should hire you and Eric Estepp as consultants. I echo many of your opinions. Great video Jaret
Lol no not Estepp.
And Watkins Glen has the best area around the track to enjoy which is why it was the race I went to this year as I could only go to one.
how dare you put gateway at 18
Kansas it's my home track
Pretty solid list. I’d say top 5 - Daytona, Bristol, Darlington, Homestead, and unpopular but I love New Atlanta.
16:19 I went to the 2024 fall race, and I can confirm that this happened
Damn…Texas, Gateway, Homestead….all the tracks you’re saying are in need of a face lift, I can remember being built. 😂
For the Clash there should be 20 cars not 27 that’s way to many
I was at the most recent 600 and even though we had to fight the weather a little the vibe was awesome hell there was this big ole guy was dancing and eating chicken wings whenever Kevin harvick took the lead and the action was incredible martinsville was great as well the racing is ok and witnessing the hail melon at the start and finish line was incredible
I’m in the New Hampshire market fan base - while I love it a ton being its our only opportunity to see NASCAR, I do agree it gets stale sometimes
as a Formula 1 fan its interesting seeing how much local officials in the states heavily dislike street courses. Other countries dont have an issue with them.
Skol 🙏🙏
Went to my first NASCAR race at Texas yesterday. If thats the worst track then woah! I need to go to other races. That’s the most fun I’ve had at a sporting event in a long time.
Mesa gone ten plus times and while thesa last few hsve been bad Mesa has gotten out in 20 minutes before out of martinsville itsa overall been muy muy muy easy to get out of thesa track
😂
For COTA, the only real issue is turn 1. If they could re-do it (or add) a more sweeping turn 1 instead of it being so tight, it'd be awesome
I want Nashville to succeed. I live about 2 and half hours from there. But the traffic in 2021 was a nightmare, and the lack of being able to take coolers into the track (for a late June in Tennessee race) is a bad move.
I was hoping you'd put Newt Hampster... errrr, New Hampshire! at 20. I was one off. But you're right, racing there can be very hit or miss.
Thanks for the great videos Iceberg
I remember hewring stories when i was a kid that talladega was haunted that it was built on an indian burial ground even though im sure its not true gives a cool creepy atmosphere to nascars scariest track
Phoenix has likes
I’ve been to most of the tracks to watch NASCAR.
Just this year I went to Darlington, Bristol (Night Race) and Homestead and I guarantee that Darlington is the best track I’ve been to, the history and the racing is the best.
As someone who has gone to Michigan every year since 2018 (with the exception of 2020) the traffic in and out is absolutely trash. I mainly blame the state police for not really policing the traffic better and also crowding county highways up the ass when it's not necessary
I have a soft spot for watckins glen. Such a fun track to watch, and its so much fun on simulators.
Cota and the Charlotte Roval are way to high and Sonoma, Michigan and Richmond are way to low.
My personal top 10 currently:
1) Daytona
2) Talladega
3) Charlotte
4) Darlington
5) Kansas
6) Martinsville
7) Homestead
8) Michigan
9) Atlanta
10) Walkins Glen
If Nascar can fix the short track package then Bristol and Martinsville will probably return to my top 5 but for now it’s just too hard to pass, especially at Bristol.
My Top 5 Tracks
5. Kansas
4. Dover
3. Homestead
2. Charlotte
1. Darlington
Intermediate:Hoemstead miami or darlington
Short track:Bristol
Super speedway:Daytona
Road course:Sonoma(it gives me vibes)
My top 5 as of now would be:
1. Daytona
2. Charlotte
3. Bristol
4. Kansas
5. Dover
Pre-2022 Martinsville would be number 1 but racing doesnt show it right now
I love Phoenix. I'm not sure why people hate 6 groves of racing and amazing restarts. It's one of my favorite races to watch.
Because it's boring once the field gets spread out.
@@runrafarunthebestintheworld It wasn't boring a few weeks ago
I'll stand by my hometown track of Sonoma, it's a way better track to be there in person. It's the only true road course that can be seen from just about anywhere
R.I.P Auto club speedway! Great track for the new car just for them to tear it down…😢
My favorite tracks?
Top three
1. Darlington - Fenway of NASCAR.
2. Daytona - Yankee Stadium of NASCAR.
3. Charlotte (Oval) - My hometown track.
No better than fenway
Wrigley field
If we're grading just 2023 I would actually rank Texas ahead of Sonoma and even Watkins Glen. Those races were horrible this past season
The Brickyard should be right there with Texas.
I'm gonna try and make Gateway because it's the closest track 2 me. I agree with your top 5 and that's the order that they rank on my bucket list!!
I was gonna comment on why Homestead was so low, then I realized this video is a year old
Edit: I guess this years homestead race (especially the playoff race) doesn't negate anything you said
NASCAR has to wake up and put Dover in June, it’s way too rainy in April and May in Delaware. I was pissed seeing it still in April when the 2024 schedule came out.
Yeah that would be a good time to put it along with Bristol.
My list:
23 tracks squished into the top 5
And then and big gap…
Texas in 24th.
GO CARDS!!!
Put the roval at Gateway's spot and Dover right below it. Then just got down the list as it after that. Dover is very underrated. Roval I'm not ready to give up on it.
My top 5 has some controversial ones I feel.
1. Daytona
2. Sonoma
3. Talladega
4. Watkins Glen
5. Pheonix
Based on tracks I've been to, either Daytona or Charlotte is my favorite, but I'm visiting Talladega for the first time next year so maybe that could change
Homestead at the finale is the best track in nascar but when it’s not it’s top 10 at best
Homestead is not only my home track but it should go back into the final
