- From the dominance of the Porsche 935 to the cry of the Ferrari F2004. In this series we celebrate race cars that pushed the limits of either innovation or speed and made themselves legends. Today in particular, we'll dive into GT1, LMP1, and even NASCAR and Can-AM.
Today, we talk about American race cars.
Thanks for tuning in.

Panoz is a name synonymous with modern American racing. The father of the American Lemans series, and the road Atlanta petit leman race. His contributions to American sports-car racing will forever be remembered
Don Panoz invented the Nicotine Patch but could never quit smoking himself. Made it to 83, absolute legend
wondering if my estrogen patches are also a result of the work his team performed, they're slow release medication patches too lol.
The engine was basically an all aluminum Cup motor with fuel injection. I stood right next to one as they were blipping it before the Petit LeMan. It made a thunderous noise.
Dude i love your videos. The only thing that sets you apart from the big channels is the sound quality of your voice. Even with that, you make great videos! Please keep going :)
i like the little echo
Any video suggestions, pertaining to the series or the production please let me know. The goal before the next video is to improve my voice quality.
I'd look at Bentley. Obnoxious on the track as the the Speed Six in 1928, 1929, and 1930, and again in 2003 as the Speed 8.
The trend of luxury ASMR car vids also adds to the obnoxious nature of the brand 😂
The C7R corvette used pushrods, so 2019 was the last time, not the Saleen S7
Keep some of the reverb on the voice though, it's kinda vibey.
Was genuinely looking forward to this one dropping and I can't say I was disappointed!
hell yeah, another yorm video! just recently found out about you, the videos are great!
You should include the TVR cerbera speed 12. 7L v12 aimed at trying to beat the Maclaren at the time
The NASCAR entry was making huge power which is why they ran into transmission issues. The team was surprised they made it that long though, i know a few people that worked on the project.
The C7.R ran until 2019, I believe. 99% sure it had a pushrod engine.
You're 100% correct.
This video was just recommend to me while I was trying to do research for a very rare racecar. a _1983 Avanti II IMSA GTO_ , And the _1983 Avanti GT_
Finding modern photos of those cars is very limited.
I knew Avantis were still produced in one form or another after the end of production, but I had no clue anyone took one racing.
This series is so good! I’m a bit late, but man, top tier
The Chaparral is sick and a predecessor to the McMurtry, very cool
Loved those noisy Panoz at Sebring and Road Atlanta.
Bless you, Don Panoz, for breaking the mold of cookie cutter cars.
Great channel! Keep up the good work!!!!
Awesome video
The glorious music of a pushrod ICE!
I feel like I'm watching a documentary on Gran Turismo 3 cars
Love driving the panoz in project cars 2 , pair it with a manual and it’s one of the most fun race cars ever, so much torque and power with that great sound, makes you feel like your actually a good driver
The Panoz was definitely the best GT1 car in PC2. You could turn consistent laps early on but it also wasnt *too* planted
@@yorm1 yeah nah the ass slide out every time you tickled the loud pedal
the nascar was literally faster than all the GTE’s too LMAO
Well calling it a NASCAR is a very loose classification it ran with basically no regulations, it was lighter and had a higher engine displacement than the GTE-AM class. It actually finished behind 8 GTE-AM teams. So technically no, also this is what the innovate class is for, these are massively modified vehicles. If they had to race that vehicle in NASCAR it would completely crush the competition, hence why regulations in Motorsport exist. Have you seen what Porsche did with their no regulations 919 Hybrid Evo, that's even quicker than an F1 car, and that's why regulations exist for a reason. If you had to tell the guys to just go ahead and build cars with as much money as you can spend you'll see some crazy machines, like the 2003 Ferrari F1 car which is about 5 seconds faster than the ones racing today, the only case where it didn't work was for Toyota, outspending everyone in F1 and couldn't even win a single race, and in doing so flushing $5 billion down the toilet.
Great episode title. Keep it up!
Cheers to the future success of this channel 🍻
Great video 👍
Noel Edmonds drove a Panoz, that's good enough for me.
Yorm, I recommend a Shure SM57 Microphone setup for recording and commentating. The microphone itself runs about 100$ but it is nearly studio quality when setup properly.
Endurance racing in America goes back to the 50s.
That’s correct, my point there was that the currently running IMSA WeatherTech championship was born from a merger between the ALMS and Grand-am Rolex.
@@yorm1 I went to IMSA enduros at Watkins Glen in the 80s. Like Indycar they lost me when they split. Have not watched either since. They have changed the categories as often as I change socks. Bernie kept F1 together. I recall the Panoz at Le Mans, which I still enjoy.
12:06 "...and only weighed a smidge over 815lbs."
Hello ! You could make a third part with old timers like Chaparral 2F, Cadillac Monster or Mercedes 300 SLR which were very unique during the 50's and 60's.
2019 Corvette C7.R user a pushrod V8
You’ve earned my sub! Keep up the videos!
If you have the Panoz/Ford. You should also have the Callaway C7/R
Commenting for algorithm
Dude this is awesome
Apologies bud, great video but I think you're wrong about the last pushrod being run 15 years ago...the last pushrod was the Corvette C7R
No need to apologize, you are indeed correct and I believe corvette racing ran that program until 2018 or 2019
These are really well done! Sub’d
The winning GT40s had NASCAR engines.
Hey what's that song at 1:24.
Interesting that the 2J was auto
turn ur reverb down a little, otherwise great video👍🏿👍
Panoz "rip the roof off and let her scream"
IMSA - International Marijuana Smugglers Association.
🚀🏎️👍👏🤔
Nothing will come close to GT1
So this is my first time watching one of your videos and I am only about 15 seconds in. But you already answered one of the questions that I had in my head but had never remembered to look up: racing Panoz and pharmaceuticals Panoz are the same.l
Oh and I’m sure if you ask some YTers with tons of experience, they would be more than willing to tell you stories of perfecting their mic set ups and what to do in regards to that.
What is the song at 3:08?
Look up " 'Scars' Prod. By Yasuo!" The tune currently appears on TH-cam with the title: "SOLD sadbalmain x dnb x ambient type beat | "scars" prod. yasuo!"
Idk if I understand why this is called obnoxious race cars....
Just so you know, ‘IMSA’ is pronounced phonetically 👍
"im-sah"
You showed an Xfinity car the first time you said "cup car"
Just fyi. You did really well otherwise
I lost interest in Nascar because you can never find what channel it's on. Or it's on pay per view. Lost money on rained out races that don't give refunds.
"Innovation is the meta" Please define, otherwise it means "innovation is the above". Define "meta" and then how it fits in the sentence.
In the context of video gaming, the 'meta' refers to the agreed upon pattern of doing a thing to a point where it is the norm. In this case, 'innovation is the norm, the expected way'.
Playing with language is fun.
@@yorm1 I gave you the definition. This is not in the realm of children's games, these were actual cars. Even if it were definitions are in place because we all agree to them. If not every word you or I am writing would be gobbledegook.
What you are doing is not "playing with language" otherwise you would have stated it when you said it. You heard a word and didn't bother checking a dictionary and used it any way you pleased. It is very distracting I no longer understood what you were saying when you introduce your clique's slang. I could not watch it any further and thumbed it down.
@@james-faulkner I'm so sad to cya go!
@@yorm1 I sure love watching ignorance just to make myself seem better.
Now all will get to see your ignorance of vocabulary since this has to be the longest exchange in the forums on this video.
@@james-faulkner Didn’t expect you back. Thanks to you for your continued patronage.
still a shitty nascar engine LOL, coudn't win anythung
