Is it possible to beat Borderlands 2 while Perma-Slagged? What if we tried it on OP10? Can we beat Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode while taking triple damage? Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-sequel, and Borderlands 3 all have guns that can get pretty wacky, but wacky doesn't always mean good. In this challenge run, we try to beat the game with only the Chulain! Want to see me try this challenge with a different gun, grenade, or shield? Comment below on what gun, grenade, or even shield I should try next! Any gun in any game (Borderlands 1, Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, Borderlands 3, or Wonderlands!)
Whether you like Borderlands 2 slag mechanics or not, I think we can all agree that when you are the one being slagged it's not that fun, well maybe for you guys, I’m a masochist, so today I ask Can You Beat Borderlands 2 While Perma Slagged? As per usual on this channel, this is going to be an Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode Over Power 10 playthrough, for anyone new to the game that just means Enemies have 4x health, health regen, and are all 10 levels higher than us. BAR will not be allowed for the run and I must be slagged at all times during the run. Usually, to become perma-slagged you need to go to the Arid Nexus Boneyard and get slagged while driving a car, exiting the vehicle before the slag has time to wear off will leave you in a state of permanent slag until you quit out of the game. The issue with this setup is that you don’t get access to this map until the second to last mission of the game, worry not because there is a way to be slagged 24/7 without the need for this glitch and all you need to do is use this, That’s right everybody this video is also going to be Can You beat Borderlands 2 with only the Chul, wait how the heck do you say this word. (typing Chulainn) yeah I'm going to be in the coo-coo lain after this one. (ba-dum) for real though I am 99% sure it is pronounced Chulainn but I'm 100% sure some people who call it the Chulainn are going to convulse if I say it like that so I've decided it is called the Chalupa now so I make everybody mad. I also might be hungry. Anyway, the other gear for this run is going to be a basic shield, a vault hunter relic to maybe get some funny drops, and the Legendary Nurse classmod. The legendary Cat would 100% be more optimal with its crazy SMG damage buff but I thought the nurse fighting against me getting 1 shot all the time would be funnier, more thematic, and more challenging. Here is a quick peek at the build, I'll answer any questions about it in the comment section but I pretty much went for every type of indirect damage source that I could. Anyway, let's hop into the run. So since I am perma slagged all damage that I take is going to be tripled. Therefore my main game plan was to not get hit, that game plan however came to a full stop when a bullymong forcefully threw me into Liarsburg where all the bandits were waiting to kill me. Just about any attack that hits me deals well over enough damage to just one shot me. But BL2 has a mechanic known as Health Gate.

Honestly this would've been funnier in the Pre Sequel as it has an equivalent to the Chulain called the Frostfire which is Cryo and Fire and freezes you as you use it.
I love that weapon, shame you can only get it in normal mode... y'know without save editors and stuff like that.

I used this gun on my elemental mechromancer, the electrical burn makes it slag/shock/burn. Once I got used to mitigating the slag on myself, it was one of the weapons I used the most until Flourintine came out

The Chulainn is one of my favorite weapons in Borderlands. The Flouritine was a fun addition to have that dual damage gimmick I like, but if the Chulainn didn't self slag you (like in the UCP) it would be like top 1 in my list of favorite weapons.
Did you know? Slag was discovered on Pandora after Handsome Jack was too stinky for his own good, and harnessed the stink into an element that could be infused with weapons to stink up other gamers.

I have a funny challenge idea... What if it was BL2 with The Crit, but if you accidentally drop it and loose it, you have to save/quit or restart the run. (Idk, something punishing).
Or maybe you only have 4 Crits, and if you loose one as then you only have 3, and if you loose all of them, then you have to restart the run. Then it's like you have 4 lives.

Just wanted to say that this is the first video that pops up anywhere when you look up Perma slag now. congrats LGM!
I'm trying this out in OP0 with a Legendary Cat class mod, 5 points in Life Tap, and a non-unique Turtle Shield to decrease max Health and take advantage of Health gate more efficiently, and it's quite fun.
As soon as I score a kill, I become nigh-immortal for the next 6 seconds because Health gate, Healing, and low max Health, but once that's over, I'm in big trouble because Slag and low max Health means everything health-gates me, similar to in the video (though in OP0, the Turtle Shield does let me take a hit or two without triggering Health gate, but I mainly use it for the decreased max Health)
So my gameplan is to chain kills together as much as I can.
I'm considering changing the Turtle Shield to a standard Tediore shield.
Idk how to get into OP levels with Gibbed, so once I'm done in OP0, I'll do Digi Peak runs until I reach OP8
(I don't have Lilith DLC)
Also, I only noticed the slag whispers because you pointed them out, but a much more prominent audio issue with this run is Maya's constant complaints about Slag, like as if it's the bane of her existence (I found it funny tho)
Perhaps you could re-do a previous challenge run in OP0 just to show how much harder OP10 is

Hey, I’ve seen a few of your videos and I can say with confidence ( based on my experience) that your crashes, especially in the preserve, are due to the PhysX on high, turn that setting to low and the game runs super smoothly

I wonder why you didn't spec into Life Tap. Even in OP0, the enemies have way more hit points than you, so the Lifesteal after scoring a kill would've likely made returning to Health gate range much faster, perhaps enabling a more aggressive playstyle as long as you can score a kill
Getting kills was rare, the gun couldn’t kill that good/fast so it was meh, prob would have been better than recompense but I thought it would be funnier

Personally I would've built to ruin instead of scorn because you already have a ton of slag from the chalupa. The damage would've helped at least a little bit.
Ruin would have just been the same except tied to phase lock 🤷♂️ good scorn throws can slag a lot more

I remember the first time I was playing this game with my friend (Who had played the game before) And we got to the end of the stupid clan war quest line and I was awarded with this thing and was initially excited to have a good slag weapon, then I sold it 5 minutes later after I got slagged when I held it for 3 seconds
I think I accidentally perma-slagged myself in my Weaponless Krieg playthrough going into Hero's Pass, and was wondering why I was taking so much more damage than normal.
I don't know if I should feel worried about you torturing yourself or feel facinated that you manage to do stuff like this.
Every single challenge so far has been fun, trust me I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t enjoy it 🙂

In my own R63 Cu Chulainn run, Bloodwing's collar actually killed me (I was below half health)
So I used my FFYL time to look around for skags, then shoot at the Hyperion logo in the sky as a wordless "Curse you Hansdome Jack!"

Just finished the OP0 portion of my Weaponless Krieg run and did a Digi Peak run. Disappointingly, the OP levels didn't work until I used Gibbed to bypass the Level 72 cap and level up to 80.
No worries. That just means I can do Level 80 OP10 just like you
Perhaps once I finish the Level 72 OP0 portion of the R63 Cu Chulainn run, I'll immediately use Gibbed to start a Level 80 OP10 run
Just finished the OP0 version of the R63 Cu Chulainn run, and started the OP10 version.
The biggest thing I noticed was the enemies seeming to be 3x tankier, therefore the Kill Skills I was relying on in OP0 were less frequent (I had to use Transfusion nades to continue a similar playstyle, and even then I was more cautious)
And now I'm thinking of starting a Shadow Wizard Money Gang run.
