Joltz will always be my favorite borderlands content creator, he's the reason I know what different grips do, even if I still can't remember what they look like lol
I’m the exact opposite, I picked up what some grips do and what most look like lol. But since I introduced my friend to Joltz we’ve been doing a lot of the cool strats and time skips to make runs easier, we tried to get levels easy while playing the Tina DLC but it didn’t quite work with four Kriegs so instead we made it to flame rock and revived each other until lvl 7 because one of the Krieg buds doesn’t have the Lilith DLC yet.

I started a run as Flak the other day and got an “Influential the Butcher” at lvl 4… lasted me till around 25 no problems

@@tarfulovr_ I believe its a world drop, but you have increased chance to get one from the Raging Titan in slaughter shaft.
It’s so good, I got one from a vending machine and it lasted me until tyreen
Made a new moze got a lvl 14 butcher used it to beat the entire game with moze ammo regen I literally never switched weapons or reloaded
You finished the game faster than I can get past the loading screen

From someone who has a lot of interest in video game speed running in general. You've done a massive service to future runners with your commentary. Having a starting point speedrun video for a creators audience to launch off of has traditionally pushed speedrunning forward

4:40, as a game dev in UE4, I have a theory about that out of bounds mailbox. It could be that they had prebuilt clusters of assets that they could drag in, and one of them was that wall/gate thing and it just had a mailbox as part of it
Reminds me of a room in Paper Mario where a bunch of Luigi's are stored so the game can just drag em out when needed

This should actually be a new category, since a lot of speedruns have a category for mod usage. This makes it quite quicker and much more fun, would love to see this run in one session withis mod
Skill and routing is way more interesting than RNG. Was kinda surprised people even sped ran this franchise a few years back for BL2 haha. This mod would make it much more competitive imo.

The problem is, like joltz said, the rng for this run isn't designed to make an optimized run per se, but an interesting one. It's too arbitrary to make sense as a category, and the proper optimized world drop rng would be dull
I think the problem arises from the looter shooter elements of the series. In a recent BL2 play through I got a random kerblaster as soon as my unkempt herald started falling off. Should simulating that be allowed? What about a mod that makes every AR drop an on level kerblaster? The line is tough to draw
Disagree modded is pretty much the same as a cheated run.
Years of Joltz and everytime I play any borderlands game I hear, "level up dude, the skip, and save and quit" even when playing by myself. Keep being you man!

Amazing run, really enjoyed that 2.5 hours! Never played bl3 so this was a great introduction to the story, dialogs were really intresting.

I like this, instead of it being “how legitimately can you speedrun borderlands 3” its more of “how fast fast can you speedrun borderlands 3” even with the guaranteed drops, and everything being fixed sounds pretty fun instead of getting a run based off of RNG

Recently I've been binging on BL3 and running a new character - gotta say even though I don't speed run there were quite a few tricks in here that I'll want to try out just for fun.

Honestly, this was a fun watch! I wouldn't mind seeing similar content for the other borderlands games! It'd be a blast to see you run through bl2, talking about all the fun skips. Similarly I'm not even sure I've seen a speed run of bl1.

When I did my first playthrough of this game I thought the game was ok. My second playthrough where i tried to just blow past everything and just do story missions made me realize that half the game is npc monologues. I did not have fun the second time around haha, also my loadout was just always full legendaries because they drop like water in rain. Legendaries aint special anymore :(

Gameplay was fantastic. Best in the series. Story and characters were horrible. Idk what the endgame ended up like but when i quit it was not borderlands. Despised mayhem mode. Not to mention it seemed like they had no idea how to balance. So many changes for a damn year. So many things didn't "work as intended" as GBX so loved to say.
I'm a huge BL fan and this game is a stain on the franchise imo. I'm equal parts excited and doubtful for Tiny Tina's Wonderland. "Mayhem" was their buzzword that ruined 3 for me, and now i'm seeing a lot of "Chaotic" for TTW. Def makes me weary.

Watching this reminds me of how much I really do like bl3. It's a shame it couldn't have been what we all hoped, but I like what it is. I'm excited for the d&d borderlands game and am optimistic they'll take the best of bl3 and 2 to make the closest to a perfect looter shooter imaginable

Honestly, between the mods and the segmented nature of this run, I wonder if it could be called an pseudo Low Optimization Tool Assisted Demonstration, also known as a Lotad. Hope you did take / are taking a good break after creating this monster of a run. Seriously, some skips make softlocks after all, so take it easy.
The Voracious Canopy skips are so freaking epic. Wow. How did everyone figure this out? I'm amazed.

I feel this should be considered legit to some extent. The PC speedrun of Bioshock Infinite uses a mod to make a needed gear guaranteed to spawn early on.
While I get what your saying. That was only because the speed run for that game devolved to where the run was an instant reset if they didn't get that one drop. It's modded because it makes no difference to a run that would have gone further. Not to mention it is technically just one instance the mods seen in this segmented run are to optimise for joltz convenience of not wasting a whole ass year

This was very enjoyable to see you do like actual speed run stuff or strats, I've always found speed running to be the top teir of "how to get the most out of a game". Its cool to watch a community dismantle a game to its loadsaves and one to two broken mechanics.
