@@classicalrenaissancerebel I think it had something to do with covid restrictions so that not a lot of people were in the same room for too long and to keep them social distancing. But now that the emergency phase is long over there’s no reason why they can’t bring it back if what I said was the case.
I know right? I remember last time I went to Disneyland I went on Indy and I thought the safety spiel being played over and over was super repetitive and got kind of annoying after awhile lol
Sonething you need to take into account, everything that was within trapdoor where the dragon rises was damaged heavily. So the carpet was too damaged and we need to cut disney some slack, we know disney isnt dumb to not build a new dragon or refurbish the existing one heavily, but this is basically B mode if dragon was still there. And no one would call it chesp if it the dragon wasnt damaged but just couldn't rise. I get it no drsgon is a bummer but we canr act like its a permanent thing.
My thing is Disney should be held to a high standard when it comes to this kind of thing. They could have done a bunch of cool stuff with pyro and lights in that’s scene so that’s mainly why I was disappointed. They have the money and resources.
Unfortunately, that's what was so upsetting...the moment I heard the cut in the music, I knew they cheaped out and lied to us about "replacing" the dragon. If they were using the actual B mode then why did they have to cut an entire 1.5 minutes of show?
@@ThemeParkObsessionDD Sure, but I do think Disney was forced to open Fantasmic earlier than expected especially considering they're already doing so much work at the park elsewhere during the summer months. Which I assume is also why budgets weren't allocated to Fantasmic. I expect Fantasmic to be closed again within the next two years for another update. My guess is after the 70th anniversary.
What makes Fantasmic awesome IS her dragon transformation. That's the magic with the whole show. The fact you can play on that island during the day and that island becomes alive at night with her taking center stage is what makes that show so awesome. To see them take the B mode way out is very lazy and so disappointing. They need people in there coming up with some insane ideas to make happen. Dont cheapen Fantasmic by taking the easy way out! Great video!
I agree, the battle scene was very lazy and disappointing indeed. It’s even worse when you realize that we all waited thirteen months just to see the B mode version.
And if they have no choice but b mode then the best thing to do is to use as much lighting and pyro as possible. Seems like they barely used the lighting.
Just watching this today, thank you for the honest review I was on the fence about doing a dining package, I think I will wait until they possibly get the kinks out, thanks for bringing Michael along I like his input and hello Pixar Charlie!
@@ThemeParkObsessionDD That I can imagine considering how much Murphy costed, and since Disney has been in a major financial slump for over a year now, they gotta be mindful with their money for the time being.
There were also a lot of characters missing from the Mark Twain. I expect the flying carpet for Alladin and Jasmine will not return and them dancing on the stage will be the new norm.
I thought that scene was fine. Im more tired of all the other new 2017 scenes. The og score was the best. But the intro and finale lighting and pyro is looking good
They should replace the dragon and make him fire-proof! Maybe mostly out of metal/steel. Btw, does anyone know if the tunnel lights in Space Mountain are working again?
What they replaced the dragon with honestly makes B mode dragon they used to show when the Dragon was malfunctioning look good. I mean, it was just a projection of a dragon, but at least it was a dragon. Also that awkward moment of silence (when the dragon would have been on stage) was, well... awkward. It really needed some dialog or at least more evil laughter to fill the silence.
Yeah, the current Fantasmic presentation (climactic battle, lack of physical crocodile, carpet/other maintenance things) has turned out to be another "They charged us how much to get in?" moment. I hate to be going into that kinda downer critique mode, but the continual varying maintenance issues that I've seen since the shutdowns--ie effects on attractions not working--brings that question to mind. Admittedly, learning about these Fantasmic alterations & finally watching that Starcruiser video essay on the same day may have further unlocked my willingness to call them out on this matter haha.
The thing is we should be holding them to a high standard. It’s a multi billion dollar entertainment company, they SHOULD be providing the best they can produce.
Also it seemed to that the Mark Twain (Steamboat Willie) had less characters on board (Mary Poppins, Burt, Penguins, Jesse, Army Men, Alice, Pooh, etc. were missing in action). Agreed, Murphy is everything; she is pretty much the main reason you want to see the show in the first place. Back in 1992; I was at the every show before it opened to public and did basically thing, I call it the 'cherry picker' Maleficent. Then when first edition Murphy came, I like this is cool; the sadly I moved in 1995. Been back to Disneyland only one time since then, saw many videos of Fantasmic since (including last years fire) and Murphy is everything for the show. BTW another thing I wish they would bring back is Tik-Tok, since the Peter Pan segment is back too. *Sssmmmmmmeeeeeeee!*
Yeah bringing back the crock would be amazing. That day there was a shortage of characters but I heard the next day it was back to normal. So maybe they had some call outs.
So the carpet actually isn’t coming back to Fantasmic! in this tweaked iteration, hence the choreo from Aladdin and Jasmine on the island. And I recall the pyro blast from the Hag’s segment before, but the blast during Chernabog’s is an addition for sure! Agreed that it’s nice to have the show back (especially the triumphant return of Peter Pan) but there is still plenty of room for improvement. °o°
I don't know if this is true, but I heard that the magic carpet lift was the same lift that was used for the Maleficent dragon, which I guess means it was damaged beyond repair? I hope they fix the magic carpet as well as the dragon (and the old Tick-Tock crocodile float!) because having Aladdin and Jasmine dancing in the clouds seems a little awkward. At least put them on a boat like all the other couples in that sequence; it's hard to see them in the fog.
Yeah I was so hyped with the new fantasmic show but yeah I get what you mean they could just say that the characters maleficent will be the one replacing the dragon lol 😆 but anyways the Peter Pan show was amazing!!! And the ending part of the show. ❤🎉
The Magic Carpet sequence for Aladdin and Jasmine is gone and not broken. That is one change they made. They instead have them dancing together on stage instead of flying on the carpet.
Yeah, ooh look she's really tall now.... oooooooooh so scary, what is Mickey ever going to do? Has it been 12 months though? They could have rebuilt Murphy in 12 months for crying out loud.
At the beginning of the show, it was a little different. There wasn’t no projection mapping where Mickey pops out they use projection mapping after he comes up. There are some differences in the show that I’ve noticed. I’m a big phantasmic fan. I noticed these things. 😊

The kids can barely even enjoy what was meant for THEM. Take me back to the good days before social media when people actually enjoyed life
I do agree with the social media ruining things and over hyping them. The kids thing, could also be true but there could also be many who are enjoying it. In reality even without just adults going lines would still be ridiculous. Plus most of the adults that go are people who grew up with everything Disney has to offer. So now that they have their own money they go and enjoy it. Unless today's parents are showing their kids the old Disney movies, most kids grow up with the new stuff. Which would be more DCA, and let's be honest, Galaxies Edge was mostly made for adults.
@jesters08joker growing up with disney is one thing but ALOT of these "disney adults" make Disneyland unbearable. Price hikes, fights, vloggers, ride breakdowns, genie plus...i could go on.
