The removal of pyro from the floats is a big miss, though, and losing the effect of the synchronized timing with the jungle section's soundtrack makes the musical flourishes less impressive. As much as I like Fantasmic 1.5 in WDW. Man Fantasmic 2.0 at Disneyland takes the cake for me. The lighting affects and the scenes. Man this show is good. Both coasts need a brand new dragon asap though
Seeing Fantastic is a welcomed sight for sore eyes. The return of the timeless Peter Pan was wonderful. The adjustments of show elements (namely the Aladdin and Princess sequences) worked very well. Fountains and pyrotechnics at peak performance. As for the B-Mode Malificent, it is what it is. From what has been said, I look forward to the day when the show welcomes the return of Murphy (in what I hope will be an improved form, though if she breaks down from time to time, then she'll be living up to her legendary and beloved reputation). Pending health, and other commitments, I'm looking forward to seeing this live on Wednesday night (or it'll be in August when my Peasant Pass is no longer blocked out for the summer).
I was there on opening night and LOTS of people were furious that a huge swath of viewing space was designated as reserved dining package space. This is too much! Standby is either off to the extreme left or right of show center OR located far to the back of the viewing areas where sightlines are obstructed. I also went to the 2nd showing and the reserved spaces were only about 50% filled by showtime yet the entire space was kept clear of standby guests when it became obvious that no more reserved guests would be coming. I guess my $169 ticket just wasn't enough to get me a good view of the show. Now I need to buy an overpriced meal to get a good seat??? No thank you!
When Murphy burned, Disney said they probably wouldn’t try to build a new one but they also promised that to make up for it they would reimagine and add new tech to make it just as good as before. Don’t tell me this is them fulfilling that promise
Not bad. I still want Murphey back but maybe they could just make him spit out mist with green colored lights? It doesn't have the same impact with out the dragon.
I always wondered if they would do this as a safety measure for a new dragon. Have it spray colored mist for "smoke", with a fire-colored water jet that "lights" the river on fire. The chance of ignition and a repeat of Murphy would be greatly reduced.
Thanks for showing us the new Fantasmic show that debuted last night. My son Tristan is looking forward to seeing this. He has a sorcerer Mickey hat that we bought him when we visited in 2021. He's been waiting 3 years. 😢
Dont get me wrong I am a huge Fantasmic fan but tbh there was no point in bringing this back without the biggest highlight of the show, the dragon. They should have just ended this show ,it was a good 32-year run and gave us a brand new show in it's place.

WDW News. Two things, Sorry to see the physical crocodile was"nt part of the Peter Pan pirate section. Also there was to many adds in the video and just placed anywhere and cutting up the flow of the show. Cheers, Chris Perry.
The dragon is why you watch the show and the Dragon came out when I was 16 and I’m an almost 50 now still love it. Other Disney parks use drones. Why can’t you just make drones to make the dragon concepts?
So the main flaw with the dragon, apart from being fairly flammable, was the flamethrower in the mouth and the plumbing to it. The effect that they used here to ignite the river works just as well, and they could have still have used a dragon. Heck, the old Fantasmic! dragon head STILL EXISTS. It isn't that hard to go find it, add some new leds for the eye effects, and put it on a scissor lift covered in sparkly cloth. Ya know, the same way they did it back in the 90s? It is great to see Fantasmic! again, but I think it needs a lot more work and maybe a little more investment? Also, what is with the ship having essentially no stunts? Did they fire them? Did they just not want to deal with the cost of having competent stunt performers? For supposedly investing a great deal in this "rework", it feels like a "B" mode, sort of like what you would have had previously if the dragon was out of commission. (EDIT: Also, what is with the shortening of certain audio segments. It cut a couple of times and I literally paused the video, went back, and then tried it on another browser and someone elses recording as well just in case the player or this video had weird cuts in it. Nope, it is just how the audio is played in the show. It sounds like someone went into audacity, picked a couple segments that sounded like they probably skip, and just hit delete>save. No crossfade even, just deleted sections ( Mainly talking about "friend like me" segment.)
Well, this is cool, but Florida still has the dragon segment. It also has a Frozen 2 segment, Pocahontas, AND Moana. Not shaming on DisneyLand’s version, I just think that Florida’s version is better.
Someone really has to explain as to why Disneyland's Fantasmic is, or was supposed to be the HMS Surprise for Zachary C Cuellar during that Celebration of PSI last decade of the 2010s? Reason being is it appeared that so much was done to make sure that he understood that none of his dreams would come true in life . . .
It’s great to have Fantasmic back after 13 months! They would have continued the show from last year on Memorial Day after the incident, but sadly they couldn’t afford it otherwise. Now for the good news, Pirates of the Caribbean has been replaced by Peter Pan and this time with the Lost Boys! They also brought back the old choreography from the intro to the jungle scene and plus the green flames has returned when Maleficent goes up. Ever since 2.0, they used the red flame after Mickey breaks through the mirror was all very confusing and no sound effect with a bang or whatsoever. Yes, sir. Still missing the dragon, but I’m sure if the rumor is true when it’s temporary until the time is right.
I think we all miss the dragon, and we all think the croc should chase the ship. But Peter Pan just fits so much more than Pirates did. I have no problem with the show changing, including who is in the Princess medley, etc. In the end, mist screen is nice, but it's best when it fills in gaps, not fill entire scenes. That's where the WDW version loses me. There are nine villains in that show... feeling like marketing got in there and said, "you have to include the last five movies". Always appreciated that Anaheim's original vision was to put on a show. We definitely will look forward to the dragon's return.
Great complete coverage of the return of Fantasmic! Really liked that they brought back the Peter Pan scene especially with the live cannon fire, though I’m a bit shocked they did not include the animatronic of Tick Tock. Besides the lack of the dragon, which already seems like a downgrade, this updated show missed several elements in the previous versions of the show, including characters that have come and gone at the end such as Jessie, but with the addition of Mirabel. Still worth watching despite the mixed reviews.
Seems like the magic carpet lift was damaged and needs replacing for the Aladdin segment, and it's too bad they don't seem to have the Tick-Tock crocodile animatronic anymore. And of course, there's the missing Maleficent dragon, but I wasn't expecting the replacement to be ready so soon. I'm sure they'll bring it back eventually, considering it's the centerpiece of the show, so I'm not too worried about it being gone for now. Hot take: I actually prefer Pirates over Peter Pan. I think it was more exciting, and the stunts were more impressive. Overall though, still nice that the show is back.
Waiting for Maleficent's cloak to catch fire so Disneyland can just completely remove the boss finale scene all together lol Just put the dragon back with no fire. Better than this.
Bringing Peter Pan back was an EXTREMELY wise choice and I’ll give them MASSIVE props for that- but their show is so lackluster compared to World’s with the exclusion of the queen cauldron, more stage actors, etc.
I guess that will have a twelve Diablo Maleficent’s Ravens as the pawns prop puppets during the climax Mickey battles Maleficent in Disneyland Fantasmic Returns.

I am going mad. The song that is playing at 7:00 I reconize it but I dont remember from where. Can sombody help me?
The pink elephant from dumbo.
Pending health, and other commitments, I'm looking forward to seeing this live on Wednesday night (or it'll be in August when my Peasant Pass is no longer blocked out for the summer).
i’m so happy its back
we waited a whole year for them to put this show in permanent B mode. this is unacceptable and we can’t let disney hear the end of this
They’ve confirmed it will be back in the future
@@typ893 please provide a link bc all i’ve seen are promotional puff pieces advertising this “nEw sPeCiAL eFfEcTs eNdiNg”
They specifically said they’re testing things to replace it, they don’t just want to replace it with the same old dragon.
When is Murphy the Dragon Returns like Maleficent Dragon (1991-1992-2009-2024 50-Foot-Tall Animatronic Dragon) from Fantasmic Returns on Disneyland?
welcome back
Happy 32nd Anniversary Fantasmic
I like all the pyro bursts on stage in place of the dragon
THEY JUST REPLACED PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Scene On Columbia
Dont get me wrong I am a huge Fantasmic fan but tbh there was no point in bringing this back without the biggest highlight of the show, the dragon. They should have just ended this show ,it was a good 32-year run and gave us a brand new show in it's place.
I agree with you're first point however your second point made me almost commit war crimes.
Hurray for Maleficent B Mode!
Awesome
So fun to see this return, I wanted to be there but I walk with a cane and I knew it would be sadnines..the whole thing for me will be a while...I was just there first of May..
What I am trying to say is thank you..I put this up on my 85" TV with surround..it simulates it on info given..but it was just great to watch..ok..picture this 70yo guy watching this on his BA TV claps and yells when we see Mickey again....and I am the only one around...I love this show so much..people think I am insane but I come over because DL is part of my DNA. It is also mone of the best values for entertainment you can have..
This show and fireworks on weekends..all the street musicians and actors, characters and CM that are pretty amazing
Thank you so much from Pahoa, Hi
I’m hoping Tic Tock comes back. 🐊 They did a good job tho!
WDW News. Two things, Sorry to see the physical crocodile was"nt part of the Peter Pan pirate section. Also there was to many adds in the video and just placed anywhere and cutting up the flow of the show. Cheers, Chris Perry.
They still show Maleficent Dragon amongst the defeated villain projections 😅
So it’s a 2.02 without the fire
The dragon is why you watch the show and the Dragon came out when I was 16 and I’m an almost 50 now still love it. Other Disney parks use drones. Why can’t you just make drones to make the dragon concepts?
I really hope they'll bring back the dragon sometime in the future.
Disney should use a hologram for the dragon. The dragon is the shows headliner.
After watching Peter Pan, I miss Jack, the music was more pumpin
No crocodile, carpet or dragon? Things to improve/bring back for sure. Just glad Peter Pan is back and Pirates of the Caribbean are out.
Finally after 1 year and a month, Fantasmic has returned.
Similar to "Ponyo" & "Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie"
Even without the dragon it was better how it was before
Well, this is cool, but Florida still has the dragon segment. It also has a Frozen 2 segment, Pocahontas, AND Moana. Not shaming on DisneyLand’s version, I just think that Florida’s version is better.
now hopefully no more fiery incident like that ever again
im sad to see a lot of old elements have been replcaed with worse ones. mainly the lighting in the finially that was a really good buildup.
Someone really has to explain as to why Disneyland's Fantasmic is, or was supposed to be the HMS Surprise for Zachary C Cuellar during that Celebration of PSI last decade of the 2010s? Reason being is it appeared that so much was done to make sure that he understood that none of his dreams would come true in life . . .
Like part 24:55
Thank you, WDW. You just saved me 1.5 hours of standing around on tired feet.😂
If you're waiting 90 minutes for California Fantasmic, you're doing something wrong.
Florida’s dragon stick: Well, well, well, how the turn tables…
It was nice of DISNEY to find a solution for the broken Colombia ship; they had a speedboat pushing it.
Why is Peter Pan climbing up the net? He used to fly to the top!
It was Ok.
Greatest too and not bad
Great complete coverage of the return of Fantasmic! Really liked that they brought back the Peter Pan scene especially with the live cannon fire, though I’m a bit shocked they did not include the animatronic of Tick Tock. Besides the lack of the dragon, which already seems like a downgrade, this updated show missed several elements in the previous versions of the show, including characters that have come and gone at the end such as Jessie, but with the addition of Mirabel. Still worth watching despite the mixed reviews.
The old boat has returned
Seems like the magic carpet lift was damaged and needs replacing for the Aladdin segment, and it's too bad they don't seem to have the Tick-Tock crocodile animatronic anymore. And of course, there's the missing Maleficent dragon, but I wasn't expecting the replacement to be ready so soon. I'm sure they'll bring it back eventually, considering it's the centerpiece of the show, so I'm not too worried about it being gone for now. Hot take: I actually prefer Pirates over Peter Pan. I think it was more exciting, and the stunts were more impressive. Overall though, still nice that the show is back.
what happened to the flower petals?
What do you mean? They’re still there.
I love that Fantasmic is back but at the same time I feel like they missed an opportunity to add something new they had never done before
Waiting for Maleficent's cloak to catch fire so Disneyland can just completely remove the boss finale scene all together lol Just put the dragon back with no fire. Better than this.
Peter!!
Bringing Peter Pan back was an EXTREMELY wise choice and I’ll give them MASSIVE props for that- but their show is so lackluster compared to World’s with the exclusion of the queen cauldron, more stage actors, etc.
OMG YESSS IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG❤❤❤❤❤
ohh Murphy ubare missed and caption jack sparro with the black pearl
Glad it’s back. DHS definitely has the definitive better version now though!
I guess that will have a twelve Diablo Maleficent’s Ravens as the pawns prop puppets during the climax Mickey battles Maleficent in Disneyland Fantasmic Returns.
A whole year and all we got is this, sorry I would rather have B mode. But I do love the fact that they brought back Peter Pan.
