Back in 1992, my friend, my brother, and I saw Fantasmic the week before its actual starting date, boy has it changed. I really hope they bring Tik Tok, and of course Murphy. Like a fine wine, Fantasmic just get better as it ages. There were a few bugs but all this was the first show in a little over a year, I am sure they will work these bugs as time goes on. I am just super stoked to see it back, Murphy or not but with our fingers and toes, she make her triumphal return soon and the crowd will give her a huge pop. BTW totally agreed, the CMs, the tech people, the riggers, the behind the scenes people, countless others that I failed to mention; are back to work and to me that is a good thing. Thank to Disney and bringing this such an amazing show and thanks FreshBaked for sharing this with us. Maybe one day soon I would really love to return Disneyland and all there is to see but until then YouTude is my best bet.
We did lunch at Blue Bayou for the first viewing of fantasmic so we were just to the right of you guys! I agree the food is nice but if a cheaper option was available I would have gone with that just for the guaranteed seat for the show. I did love the excitement of everyone there the energy was great; but I do think the show feels a little incomplete with no tick tock, no dragon, and the mark twain noticeably having fewer characters. But I loved being there for fantasmic’s return it’s still so much fun and I’m glad that everyone involved in making the magic is back to work on it!
While Murphy is missing, I really feel that Disney could have done a better job at creating a substitute segment to replace the portion that is missing. 😢
OMG THANK YOU for this upload! As a NON-local who loves this show, it'll be a LONG time before I can see it again. & HAS been an even LONGER time since I've seen it! I LEGIT have REAL tears streaming as I type this! When the barges came through & "Beauty & The Beast" was playing I was overwhelmed with "the FEELS"! Sure, it's a little different, but so what? It's BACK, & that's IMPORTANT, for ALL the reasons you said and more! I also agree Disney should have a "reserved seating NON food" option for those of us who are unable to buy the food... and there's a LOT of US, too! Anyway... thanks again! LOVED seeing this and your thoughts on it! And btw, Liz looks beautiful as always!
Maybe someone else has already made note of this, and it's been years since I saw the show in person. My memory is that when Murphy first showed up so did Tick-Tock Croc and the Floaty Ursula at the top of the villain sequence. Anyone else remember them? And they were all fabricated of similar external materials. I wonder if Disney got rid of all the pieces that were made out of that material from the show, and that's why we didn't see the Croc or Ursula. I also remember the first time I saw the show it was pre-Murphy, and Maleficent went up the elevator like she did here. LOVE the thorny vine pieces! Much better than just black fabric. Frankly, just the music from this show makes me tear up with nostalgia. SO glad it's back!
The show looked much better than I remember it but I haven’t seen Fantasmic since it was first Introduced. I don’t think all the elements that are currently in the show were there back then. David, special thanks to you and Liz for all you do to cover the Disneyland Resort like you do. Your videos are fantastic and very helpful in providing information that improves our experience in the parks. Question: Is there any possibility for older people like my wife and I to get a dining package and not have to sit on the concrete? We just can’t do that any more and if we could even sit we’d never be able to get ourselves up.
Everyone seems so upset about the dragon but personally I'm just happy just listening to the music and being their in general. I'm happy they brought back Peter Pan. ❤️. Like everyone, chill, it's just a dragon 😐
So I just watched the original, 2.0, and this new one in succession and I can say this is actually a great mixture of the 2 versions! I can actually appreciate this one for what it is and actually like it better now that I have compared them. The 2.0 version was way too busy and the music changed a little too much. This version brings back a bit of that original magic with updated technology. I think the lighting, water, and pyrotechnics are closer to the original and match the music a lot better than 2.0. I also love that percussion is more prominent again in the jungle book set because I was really bummed when 2.0 made it more electronic. I also do think Peter Pan fits better than PoC, even though I love the music & effects of it, because Fantasmic is all animation so PoC doesnt fit. Now that I've seen all the versions, I'm pretty happy with this one! And I just hope it continues to improve (add dragon and characters on Mark Twain).
All the magic watered down, what has happened to the imagination creating experience at Disneyland in particular is like a castration of magnificent proportions. No Dragon, no crocodile, no flying carpet, fewer characters on Mark Twain. I hope they build an Epic Universe here in Southern California as the imagination seems to be going all there!
So my sister and I watched the 10:30 show. We weren't able to get a dinner package and so we tried to get a mostly face on viewing spot. The spot we chose (at the rail in front of Cafe Orleans) was not a good spot. We could sort of see the stage scenes that were higher than the stage on the island, but there was so much spray the projections weren't visible. We could see the shows on the Columbia and Mark Twain, which we enjoyed. I'm hoping to come again the end of July for our 50th anniversary and get a Blue Bayou dining package (DH and I are too old to sit on the ground and DH can't stand for long periods, so we need to have chairs). I'm sure we'll be able to get a much better experience. Thanks for letting us see and enjoy from a much better vantage point than what we had.
Why Didn't you Brand New Murphy the Maleficent Dragon Return Size 50-Foot-Tall Animatronic Dragon from Fantasmic Preview 1991, and Disneyland Fantasmic Commercial 1992, Is there Before or After?
They did change it up a little, and even without Murphy, great show….and the crowd response for this opening show was fantastic…I got goosebumps! Can we expect a reaction to the CMs unionizing?
The show looked good, but, it needs the dragon. I hope they work on making a new, even more awesome dragon, because it looked like it was missing that’s spectacular ending. I get putting the cast back to work and that’s fine, but I hope they continue working on making the show better, a.k.a., dragon!
I thought the finale was much more impactful on the previous version. The show is amazing, but I feel like throughout Disneyland, they’re forgetting about the music. The finale here on Fantasmic is not as good, Hyperspace Mountain music barely goes with the ride, Soarin’s music isn’t as powerful as Soarin’ over California, and Incredicoaster music doesn’t go with the ride as well as California Screamin’ did.
First and foremost rest in Peace to one of the greatest Disney Song writers of all time, Richard M. Sherman of the Sherman Brothers. He was 95 years old. As far as Fantasmic, that brought happy tears to my eyes. The dragon was great but for us old schoolers we saw the original many, many times, without it. So for me personally I was more excited to see Peter Pan back on the Columbia Sailing Ship! I agree that Tic Toc (the crocodile) should be following the ship like the original. I suspect that will happen as I noticed that they were using special motors to push the Columbia which is not normal, and would keep them from brining out Tic Toc. I have always been so Amazed and Proud that both boats (the Mark Twain and the Columbia) are used to their full potential in the use of this show. Walt is looking down is very proud. Thanks again Fresh Baked.
I heard you two were there but just missed seeing you from the bridge near River Belle Terrace for the first show and the bridge show center for the second show! We all knew there wouldn't be a dragon (yet). Just be glad and grateful Fantasmic is back at all already in most of its glory and don't be so negative! Loved having Peter Pan back but did miss Tik Tok as the projection of Tik Tok is just not as good. In the 2nd show the Columbia was being pushed by a motor boat which I thought was Tik Tok at first! LOL Of course, I missed the awesome Murphy but okay for now. Happy it wasn't a projection of Murphy which I've seen twice when Murphy wasn't working. Also seen Murphy multiple times fail to spit fire which was disappointing. Mark Twain with new paint looked super bright and nice even with less characters. I will be back next Saturday with Blue Bayou Fantasmic Dining Package ($89 or $99 depends on entree) to see Fantasmic again!!!
Thank you for this! We are planning to come in a few weeks for this. Do you see benefit in coming as early as possible for the reserved seating? Or are all the seats good in that section?
I'm so excited to see the show again! I havent seen it in YEARS, at least 7, sk I'm so excited for its return. You want a dragon, well now you have to go to WDW. lol
Great to see you Liz and David! So where do you purchase the Fantasmic! dinner package tickets? None of my Cast Member friends know and we're going on the 29th. And I agree with you, dinner and reserved seating at show center for $35.00 is pretty good! Thanks in advance for the info on where/how to purchase tickets!
Disneyland is my ❤ and although there are ways Disney can improve the park and operations itself I am so happy Fantasmic is back. I remember when the park was shut down completely and we didn’t have it for the longest time. I still feel the Disney Magic when I walk into the park. It’s all on how you look at it. Perspective ☺️
I wish there was a dining package or viewing package where the seating wasn’t on the ground. Long ago they offered a dessert package where you sat in chairs. We sat at Stage Door but it’s off to the side.
Seems like the projections weren’t as good as the older ones, though i still do love the show. Cool they incorporated the princesses dancing like at wdw. Mark twain ending was missing some characters
@@disneyparksloveraz I do know they’ve had the floats with the princesses, but it seems like before aladdin and jasmine there’s this new sequence of tiana, aurora, and snow white with their princes on the water screen. Never saw that before, unless it’s always been there!
As an Anaheim resident from decades ago, if they've brought back the Peter Pan sequence for good,i will be very happy. I wanted to like the pirates sequence but I thought it was a mess by comparison. Yes of course the show seems to have other shortcomings. I'd like to think Disney would have enough pride to get it back sooner rather than later, but well...
Fantasmic is a great show. I do feel sorry though for those that have mot seen the show with Maleficent as her dragon self. Many years ago I took my friends 3 children to DL and got the dessert party that use to be hosted on the balcony above Pirates All 3 kids ages 5 to 14 were amazed when the dragon appeared on stage. Fantasmic will continue to be an all time favorite stage show, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed to get some version of Murphy back.
David and Liz, you outdid yourselves with this vlog! I loved the close up shots of Fantasmic! I am just over the moon that the show is back! Disneyland wouldn’t be the same without it! Having Peter Pan return was great! It’s like it never left! Shows like World of Color and Fantasmic add so much depth to the resort itself! The experience alone is amazing! I just want to thank you and congratulate you on approaching 200k subscribers. You inspire others! You bring so much joy to the channel! You deserve all the love an appreciation 😊😊
we've booked a dinner reservation at cafe orlean for 7:40 pm on 6/9/24....we are gonna take our time eating dinner there and then find a spot nearby to watch the fantasmic afterward....what do you think of this plan?
Couldn't they TEMPORARILY bring back the original Fantasmic dragon, the one they were using before they installed Murphy? Sure the original old dragon looked like junk compared to Murphy, but at least it's still somewhat of a dragon, better than nothing. And it would just be temporary until the new Murphy returns.
That's what I was thinking, the OG Dragon on a stick is probably sitting in archives. But at the same time I think people would be more disappointed with the Dragon on a Stick rather than B mode, since B mode still looks great compared to the dragon on the stick.
Ya gotta remember, Dave….they are catering to a national/international crowd who may not be accustomed to spicy food, but would like to try some Mexican cuisine…..whereas you and I are native Southern Californians….spicy and flavorful are part of our lives!
I've watched a few videos of the show so far and I definitely agree with you on Tick Tock Crock. I loved it, especially the Aladdin, but it also felt a little like a future "B" mode when everything is up and running. And if this is the "B" mode I can't wait to see "A" mode. Still one of the best shows in the history of the parks!
I'm actually glad they got rid of the dragon. The was one of the main things I always found confusing about Fantasmic. If they wanted to really show Maleficent in all her terrifying glory, they made the right decision to show her be powerful just in her demonic form. Though, I would've removed the whole her being lifted up into the air. That then suggests she's going to transform.
The Maleficent dragon being gone doesn’t make the rest of the show less. But it does make the ending less of a punch. I feel like the dragon symbolizes the big dramatic dark evil that seems impossible. But then Mickey overcomes it and then the mark twain comes out like an end credits scene and the fireworks. I feel like if they’re not going to bring back Maleficent maybe do something else that has a similar effect. For some reason I thought Chernabog was gonna rise up from the floor. But anyways. That’s what I think, still love fantasmic so much!
I love all the versions of Fantasmic I've ever seen. I love the story first of all, and the music, the lyrics, and the effects... it's the whole thing. And it takes live performers to make this show stand out and I LOVE seeing them do their thing. Most of all, it's MICKEY. I get so excited when Mickey says "This is MY dream!" YAY!! It doesn't matter to me if Maleficent turns into a dragon. Yes, it was cool to have one, but it's not a deal breaker for me. And a great ending when the fairies come out and then the boat comes around the bend with all our friends. Yeah. I love it all. Thank you for being there you guys! It brought back so many great memories, I got teary-eyed. I NEVER get tired of Fantasmic! ♥
Fantasmic will one day return to its true 1992 incarnation complete with the original Bruce Healy score, vocalists, and voice actors. Bringing back Peter Pan is a start though but not having Tick Tock following the Columbia or Peter flying up into the rigging gets demerits. The addition of the Lost Boys is nice. Say what you want about Murphy and she or Bucky will be back one day but what really needs to come back and will when I take over Disney will be the gigantic Ursula barge from the show's first decade.
Hi David. Will you be doing an updated run down of last minute places to catch the show.? At 76 getting up and down and sitting unsupported on the ground especially, and even standing for a long time is just undoable for me unfortunately. Thanks again for your report and infectious enthusiasm!

But I loved being there for fantasmic’s return it’s still so much fun and I’m glad that everyone involved in making the magic is back to work on it!
saw you yesterday waiting in line! super cool to see you out in the park
While Murphy is missing, I really feel that Disney could have done a better job at creating a substitute segment to replace the portion that is missing. 😢
Thanks for the complete coverage
Liz always has the cutest headbands!
A bit disappointing without the dragon, but ok .
Feels underwhelming
Awesome... Thanks for sharing Fantasmic return!!
Yes, the Rolling Stones concert at Altamonte Raceway held on Saturday, December 6, 1969.
Thank you, it brought happy tears to my eyes ❤️
They shouldn’t lift Maleficent if she isn’t turning into a dragon. Love that they brought Peter Pan back. 🎉
Everyone seems so upset about the dragon but personally I'm just happy just listening to the music and being their in general. I'm happy they brought back Peter Pan. ❤️. Like everyone, chill, it's just a dragon 😐
The music wasn't the same too. It felt dead, while before the music popped and gave you chills. Disney lost it's way
I will be there in july and already booked my Package. Hope to see you around the park!
I thought it was great. I haven't been there for 14 years. You are lucky you can go and enjoy whenever you want.
When is Murphy the Maleficent Dragon Size: 50-Foot-Tall Animatronic Dragon from Fantasmic Preview 1991, and Disneyland Fantasmic Commercial 1992
The chairs are for VIP's. You sit on the ground for Blue Bayou, as well, fyi.
@@disneyparksloverazThanks for that info. I didn't know that.
I’m so glad it’s back! Thank you so much for being on this and keeping us properly informed! ❤
Thank you for showing that! It was like being there.
I saw it Saturday, and the Mark Twain much MUCH more full of characters.
Got the feels! Nice work, thank you
Love Rancho del Zocalo! Can't wait to try those tacos!!🌮
I went to Disneyland right after the reopening from Covid. No shows and the parks closed early. It was so not the same!
Thank you for sharing!! Love seeing your videos!
They should have the Evil Queen back. Conjuring her spells to bring the hag out
I heard you two were there but just missed seeing you from the bridge near River Belle Terrace for the first show and the bridge show center for the second show!
LOL
Of course, I missed the awesome Murphy but okay for now.
You want a dragon, well now you have to go to WDW. lol
Dont like musicals! BUT, that was IMPRESSIVE!!
What is a " Murphy "??
That was the first time watching Fantasmic. 1,000 visits and this was the first.
Dining package looks fab! And yayyyyyy, Fantasmic! Best show ever and always!
So cool..thank you guys!
Wow!! That was amazing. Thank you Fresh Baked! Loved it!!❤
Seems like the projections weren’t as good as the older ones, though i still do love the show. Cool they incorporated the princesses dancing like at wdw. Mark twain ending was missing some characters
They've had the princesses dancing since the beginning of the show in 1992 at Disneyland.
This video saved me several hundred dollars!!
Thanks!
Do you know what time people started lining up for the dining package seating and what time did you lineup?
I honestly love the show without the dragon. Maleficent as a fire bender kicks a**!!
Bring the 🐉 Back Asap! It’s not the same without Murphy! Perhaps by the 70th anniversary of the park.
Do you know if someone in my party has a gluten allergy if Rancho del Zocalo has substitutes for the Fantasmic dining package?
Fantasmic actually Celebrate of 20Th Anniversary
Nothing has Change
Fantasmic use to Celebrate 20Th Anniversary it’s not sad for me it was epic
They should just run “B” mode that way they can still do Murphy on the water screens!!!!
I am can’t wait fireworks Disneyland I miss it love it Disneyland fantastic I am happy safe 😅I am can’t wait 😊
How wonderful Fantasmic!!!!
Noooooo way they brought peter pan back!!! Awesome
Can you please film a vlog like this but for the fireworks that are currently showing?Keep up the great work David!😀
FRESHBAKED! Thanks for sharing!
Ok we are kinda spoiled you are right. I am glad it’s back, it’s been a while since I watched it (even if it’s just online) 🩵🩵🩵
Say what you want about Murphy and she or Bucky will be back one day but what really needs to come back and will when I take over Disney will be the gigantic Ursula barge from the show's first decade.
...as usual, LOVED it!!!!
did they give you your fast pass ticket for your reserved seating at the restaurant?
yes
This show is sooooooo amazing!
Hi David. Will you be doing an updated run down of last minute places to catch the show.? At 76 getting up and down and sitting unsupported on the ground especially, and even standing for a long time is just undoable for me unfortunately. Thanks again for your report and infectious enthusiasm!
