Just me talking about my experiences with both of them, I actually had a part in the video which I cut from it where I say why I am even doing this when I am not even showing either of the programs and the short answer is I am cheating because I am doing this so that when people ask me on workshops or via email which is the best software for a begineer or an advanced user I can send them this then so it's gonna save me a lot of time in the future. I can't decide if that's clever or just lazy :-) I am verging more towards lazy though ;-)
@@kieranhayesphotography My comment was not meant to cause any offence, but just a nudge to your algorithm. As for me, your dreamy handsomeness makes every video worthwhile! 😉
Oh absolutely no offense taken at all, I took your comment as being well meaning. I was just explaining why I didn't pop up an on screen review of both also just incase you meant it that also. I always said I have a face for radio :-)
That's something I plan on getting around too. There isn't a huge difference in them their either they both have their pros and cons. It's great to have so many choices now and added features too of course.
Having serious problems with Neo opening Z8 RAWS. On the same day I shot 2 sets of RAWs on the Z8 The first set opened and edited fine. Every time I loaded in and tried to open a photo from the 2nd set it crashed, over and over. I did not alter the RAW setting on the camera. Had to convert them to DNGs to get them edited. Have been using Neo over a year now with no problems until now. Any ideas?
Hi Ivan, I haven't heard of this before, it sounds like you have a bug in the software. Is Luminar Neo up to date? I am guessing you might need to reinstall Neo to get it to work with the Z8 files again. Did you reach out to Skylum support and ask them about this issue?
@@kieranhayesphotography it only happened last night. It is up to date and so is the OS on the Macbook Pro I’ll contact Skylum support First real hassle with the software. I really like it
I would think they will advise you to back up your catalogue and do a fresh install. It sounds like you had a weird glitch somewhere in the software. Neo has been bulletproof for me now for a long time and it keeps getting faster also. Fairplay to Skylum they really have it working right now. Let me know how you get on.
Neo doesn't seem to support Z8 files from RAW......the sliders don't respond, considering the Z8 has been out for a year now it's a bit of a bummer, especially as Luminar have a paid update about to be released, will it support Z8 or not?!....worth finding out before parting with cash!
Hi, I really like you video, but honestly, I still don't have enough info to choose. I think I have seen somewhere in a YT video where the photographer used Luminar Neo as a plug-in launched from Lightroom CC. As I have this very old Lightroom desktop version, a Luminar Neo plug-in for the AI features would be the greatest solution, as I could still read and use my LR catalogues from the past decade :) Does anyone has experience with that plug-in? Also, it would be nice to know if Neo can understand/read my LR catalogues? And finally, I also need to investigate if Neo is also non-destructive in the development process? To me, these are important decision factors.
I use Luminar Neo as a plugin in Lightroom all the time and it works fine for me but I am on the latest version of Lightroom, I am not sure if the version you have will work, I would think it will though depending on your version of course. Luminar Neo is non destructive so your original raw file stays untouched thankfully. I hope that helps a bit.
Hi Jeremy thanks for the feedback, I was just expressing my thoughts on them and how they have worked for me, I have loads of videos on editing software on my channel and if I went through all the features of both of these platforms that video would have been a lot longer. It's one of the most common questions I am asked so I put up an answer out there to help people out. I am sure you will find loads of other videos out there on the topic so continued luck to you on your search.
I have a good few demos of editing up in both of these platforms. This was just me sharing my opinion on both of them as I get asked regularly which one to choose. So now I have a video to point people too 😉 I am sure you will find hundreds of videos directly comparing them so good luck.
For some reason I was expecting a review.

Thanks Kieran, that was interesting … keep them both 🤓🤓
Hi Martin, yes, that's the best solution alright :-)
Would love a side by side comparison of navigating/importing images/editing/sharing etc

Hi,i'd like to see the luminar neo vs lightroom blog post but the link isn't in the description.thanks.
At around 3:00 you mention numerous desires and don’t show any one off ! Pointless .
Sorry to disappoint you. Maybe there is a chance here for you to spend hours and create your own video.
