So I tried out the pink metering tip tonight with Stjarnagloss SNO using 150ml and used all of it on my Dodge Durango. I am a bit perplexed that with the last wash because I used 175ml of P&S Frostbite with 575ml of distilled water and used the entire bottle so it seems like no real benefit other than being ready to go without dilutions. My EGO pressure washer is drawing water from a jerry can so this could be the defining reasoning for the difference here. Since I have a large quantity of Pearl I shall play around with the other metering tips and various fills; however, soap washing is becoming far less seeing how winter is becoming a thing here in the Pacific Northwest.
The foaming surface wash is my favorite pre wash. The secondary surfactants are special. Love my griots cannon and metering tip. Best in the biz. Plus it has a lifetime warranty!
@ enjoy! It’s slightly acidic in nature and does an excellent job for no touch pre wash. It’s not the slickest under the mitt. I foam, rinse then GSF for contact.
@ all a bit different BH is more alkaline so I use that when I have road grime or film. I’d say griots is closer to descale it’s a 5.9 pH but it has surfactants similar to reset. I use it for my maintenance washes I’ve never put it to a hard test but it’s been impressive and it’s cheap….at least in the US. th-cam.com/video/DGsHwYYp2Ys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=H2J2tuyDfKyk_7oc
The Boss is the best foam cannon out there. That metering tip system is a time saver. Got ADS Shampoo+ on a purple metering tip (which is a 10:1 dilution ratio per Griot’s)and BH Touch-Less on the aqua metering tip (to give 1.8% PIR on a 1322 Kranzle per OG).
@ Matt and Tommy from OG made a BH dilution video a few months ago to get various PIR % on both the dual and single Kranzle setup. At one point Matt tested the purple tip for it, but it wouldn’t syphon enough to get near the 2% PIR he was after. So they swapped it for the aqua tip and still couldn’t get the 2% PIR, but got close enough with 1.8%. The tip only worked on a single Kranzle setup.
And of course, I’m fairly certain you’ll get within that 1.8% PIR range for BH Touch-Less on similar style pressure washers that put up 1.8-2.3 GPM with the aqua metering tip.
One of my favorite foam cannons of all time. I love the metering tips function that allow me to hook up my own bottles. There may be cannons that product better foam, but this is up near the top and none of the other cannons have the metering tips function like the BOSS that allows the other bottles to be hooked up. The BOSS also has really good internals made of stainless steel. They also offer the BOSS line of chemicals like the Foaming Surface PREP (A very strong strip wash), Foaming Surface WASH (PH neutral soap that smells like Pina Colada), and finally Foaming Poly Gloss which is the sealant product. I'm not a big fan of the Pina Colada scent, I just don't like that scent and wished that Griot's offered a different scented Foaming Surface Wash to go along with the Pina Colada one. Give the consumers a choice of the scent, maybe add a different one that had a FRESH and CLEAN scent instead of the Pina Colada. Just use the exact same formula (which works fantastic) and then just add an additional wash product in the same line in conjunction with the other one like other manufacturers do occasionally. Sort of like how Chemical Guys have a ton of soaps with different scents, but they work the same and are probably the same formula with a different scent. Now obviously I am not asking them to do 100 soaps, that's ridiculous. Just one more with an optional scent. It's a personal preference and Griot's will probably never change what they have now because it's a marketing and profitability thing and I get that. I just wish they would offer one more soap for the BOSS system with a fresh scent rather than the Pina Colada scent which I personally HATE. The metering tips are why I love my BOSS. Allowing you to hook up all sorts of bottles to the cannon such as foaming strip soaps, high PH soaps, and just about anything else you want to foam onto your vehicle or rims. For me personally, using the metering tips has saved me a bunch of product so you aren't wasting it. People waste so much soap and cleaners by putting far too much into their bottles and then not using or needing what they mixed up in the cannon. If I had a dollar for every time I heard an enthusiast or detailing professional say after looking at their cannon after a wash and it still has over half the bottle left "Oh, I just spray the rest of the soap onto the vehicle so I don't have any left over and can clean out my cannon". Why do that when you can just hook up the soap directly to the cannon, use what you need, and then unhook it and recap it for next time without ANY wasted product. That's the best system for saving product and saving money overall as you aren't having to restock your soap or other products as often. You can also foam stuff like iron removers, wheel cleaners, and other products running them through the cannon for great foam. Stuff you would think that would ever foam or you didn't realize would foam until you hook the product up to the BOSS Foam cannon. The nice thing also about the BOSS cannon is that Griot's offers both a "rebuild kit" for the BOSS so if you did need to rebuild it, you have that option. They also sell the metering tips by themselves in a little 3 pack of the same three that come with it when new. That way if you do accidentally lose your tip(s) over time or just by misplacing them, you have the option to get more. That's a nice benefit to the BOSS cannon over others who do not offer replacement internals to rebuild the cannon. They just want you to buy a whole new cannon so they get more money. The BOSS is built like a tank. I have had mine for years and it still works fine. Even after dropping on the ground and generally abusing it during the wash process, not intentionally as I always take care of my equipment, but by minor missteps where the cannon might drop on the ground or whatever. Again, built like a tank. Constructed very well. Another Foam Cannon they make that is very good is their Brilliant Finish Foam Cannon which kind of remains under the foam cannon RADAR so to speak. Not a lot of people talk about the Griot's Brilliant Finish Foam Cannon but it's a great option (still solidly built) and is half the price of the BOSS cannon, although it gives the same performance or better than the BOSS when it comes to the foam it produces. I still think the BOSS is the king over the innovation put into the product and the overall performance. Sure, there may be other good ones out there that MAY product better foam such as the fan favorite MJJC V3 which is the most talked about cannon these days with the top detailers on TH-cam. Everyone loves that cannon. I still think the BOSS is built better and is innovatively a better designed cannon. Not that the MJJC isn't a good cannon because certainly it is, but for me, the BOSS is still king. As you guys already mention though, Griot's needs to change the bottle underneath to a fully CLEAR bottle! The opaque bottle, while it definitely is one of the most solidly built bottles ever on a foam cannon, very thick and almost indestructible, they need to make it the same design and consistency in durability, but just FULLY CLEAR. The clear bottle is one of the biggest reasons people love the new MJJC V3 cannon. It is just so easy to look at the bottle and see how much product you have remaining. The MJJC V3 is good, no doubt, but it's just not built to the superior quality of the Griot's BOSS Cannon. Griots needs to take that same thick, indestructible bottle that they already have, just make it CLEAR with a brightly colored dilution chart painted on the side of the clear bottle. I have said that since day one. It's one of the only things I think they didn't think of, although the BOSS was developed many years ago now and I am not sure they ever upgraded the design other than making it foam better than the very first edition. So it's a 2.0 but was never marketed as an upgrade or different version and looks identical to the original BOSS cannon, just with much better foaming ability. Maybe it's time for Griot's to look at updating the BOSS Foam Cannon to a marketed version "BOSS 2.0" or whatever, just give the thick clear bottle with both embossed and COLORED lines on the side of the clear bottle so it is very easy to read. Make the lettering and numbering on the side of the bottle LARGE, not so tiny you can't see it. I wouldn't make it with a clear line on the side of the bottle like some other manufacturers do so you can see the product inside the bottle, MAKE THE ENTIRE BOTTLE CLEAR. That way you can see the product clearly from any angle quickly and you aren't having to manipulate the cannon to see that clear line on the side. Just make the whole bottle clear, but make sure they keep that very thick and rugged design to it. That would make the BOSS, the ultimate foam cannon and I think it would be a favorite of all detailing professionals and enthusiasts around the world. Both the BOSS and Brilliant finish cannons are my two favorites still to this very day and I have about six different cannons I have bought over the years in addition to two different style garden hose foam cannons for those times I don't want to drag out the pressure washing equipment which is actually more times than when I do use the pressure washer. It's just easier to use the garden hose end sprayer and my clean up afterwards is easier and more efficient. There are a couple of good hose end sprayers that I don't really classify as foam cannons more so than they are just sprayers that flood the panels with a watery but very sudsy soap solution all over the paint which also starts to lift dirt and grime and helps to start breaking down that dirt and grime before going in with your wash media of choice (mitt, pad, microfiber towel, whatever). I usually don't even spray off the soap before going in with my wash mitt. I rarely if ever have any problems doing it that way and rarely get any wash induced marks on the paint, but I am saving some water in the process. But you can certainly just spray down the surface with the soap, wait about 5-10 minutes, rinse it off, and then respray it with your soap before going in with your wash mitt. As Griot's always says "HAVE FUN IN YOUR GARAGE!" I have always loved that statement. Worry less about HOW to detail your car, just have fun and use good detailing and wash techniques and you'll be perfectly fine. With all the different TH-camr's concentrating on detailing these days, it's very easy to get misinformation and to get confusing information. I never really worry about how somebody else details other than to watch and try and get good information on a new product or a new technique that is worthwhile in incorporating into my own wash routine.
@ how the surfactants work, and the dwell time. You will see why on the rinse off, with the dual acting layers. A mid PH shampoo, that hits well. It’s not a crazy thick foam, but it sticks to the dirty parts well . I haven’t used it ion a non coated car though, but I imagine it’s acts the same way. “If you like pins coladas, and getting caught in the rain”
@ I rarely bucket wash anymore. I do Eddies hybrid wash if I actually feel like setting up the pressure washer. So you foam on a pre soak with whatever type of shampoo you need, ie Acidic, Neutral, Alkaline, then rinse off, follow with a rinseless wash. It’s just too easy. I use the surface wash a lot for maintenance. Whatever Griots did with it, I get no better results with Primus, Reset, Lift, Gyeon Foam. It’s solid because the ph numbers are borderline acidic, yet it hits like a higher alkaline soap. It’s just not too slick. I use Descale, or Purifica if I’m feeling spotty. Purifica being the bigger hitter, for a full decon, followed by Primus. The dilutions are excellent. I guess if I did fill a bucket, it would be either KCX GSF, or DetailCo soft wash. That’s all I have on my shelf, and I know they are slick, and clean well. I just used Soft Wash with a clay towel, and it worked well. I’m closing the garage for the winter soon, but I’m taking advantage of all these sales. Loading up with stuff I want to try in the Spring when it’s decon time again. I’m looking at spotless water systems, which in turn would probably make it easier for me to do more washing with the pressure washer. Rinseless was my savior after getting sick during Covid. I have a lot of nerve damage in my legs, back and arms. So washing a car quickly was tough. For me it’s become physical therapy, and I’ve been slowly recovering to a point where I can mostly be on my feet through the entire process. When I saw Eddie’s hybrid wash video, it got me hooked on rinseless. From there I just started doing straight rinseless all the time. Now, after getting myself moving, I’m doing a full decon, polish, and coating, and still being able to walk the next day, lol.
Metering tip in and screw on a bottle of frostbite for the win👍
The metering tip is fantastic and a nice upgrade in the typical foam cannon concept
So I tried out the pink metering tip tonight with Stjarnagloss SNO using 150ml and used all of it on my Dodge Durango. Karcher K4 is a pretty low flow unit, you can likely get better foam with the 1.1 foam orifice
Yeah probably need to put that in and see what we get
