    15:48 you’re cracking me up. I love you asking all these questions on how silly things are. I do the same thing and I watch other TH-cam channels and just shake my head. You can tell the difference between those who buy the product themselves, and those that are gifted them for influencing purposes

    This has been the biggest struggle for me just starting out in the detailing world. Trying to match production I see on TH-cam videos at home. This makes so much sense and can easily figure out my mixture at home thanks to your tests. It would make life so much easier if companies would just tell us what their dilution ratio is.

    Another Great Video Jeff!! Looking forward to the next one! Great series to follow along with! Apples to apples as they say! Finally! 👊🏼

    Man that’s great work and I love the actual scientific approach you’re taking with actual data to back it up. Only other way to reduce variables is to use the same metering tip in every cannon. That would show what each nozzle and pickup tube are doing.

    Great vid. I agree with you on the knob not being there or a knovb with purposeful numbers on it so a user can set the amounts and remember the numbers for their dilutions etc. also agree with the front portion of the spray pattern constantly moving with the slightest of bumps or every time you go to change the fluids in the bottle. More tension or detents would be good there too. Thanks. I think the metering tips are pretty cool in the Griots not sure how their tips work across various pressure washers if the output and flow of each pressure washer is different.

    8:29 This is really unfortunate because I specifically mentioned this in a comment on their videos where they asked for feedback and I received a response from them on that comment so I know they saw it. Was really hoping they weren't going to make the same mistake.
    Also good point about the knobs on foam cannons. I usually have that thought when I go to use mine since I always make sure it's maxed out but I wish it was just stuck in the max position anyway with no adjustment.

    Man ive deep dived on this not once or twice but a few times, its pretty interesting and mind boggling at times lol! If may throw in another factor is you will get better foam if the the unit that ur foam canon is made of is all brass compared to plastic and or plated ones. Thats just one variable u can test out lol! And for orifice size, metering tips and the right filter are all important to make the right amount of foam. Great videos on this topic btw,

    It’s crazy how all this is coming to light. When I first started getting into detailing I had thought just soap was supposed to go into the canister.

    One thing for sure, the Active foam canon is a sexy product 🙂

    Active cannon broke first drop with water from shoulder height, but who is going to do that? 🤣 You would be surprised. 😂 I myself got the Active doing much more water than MJJC, but that’s with a 1.45 on an Active 2.3

  • @G.Dean100

    All foam cannons definitely need the knob. Want to say I heard someone else try to make a similar claim as you about not needing thenknob. Lol

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I cannot think of one single reason they need the knob. for 4 years all of my foam cannons have been turned all the way right. Please explain to me why they need it. Even the argument about cleaning out the cannon can be done with or without the knob.

    • @G.Dean100
      @G.Dean100 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I guess it’s obvious that you do not flush or rinse out your foam cannon after use. Honestly it might be better to have it just setup more like a on/off switch but I’m guessing it’s cheaper to have it the way it is now. Either way I don’t really think it’s that big of a deal.

      The knob doesn't serve any function with flushing your cannon out though.
      The knob even on the most counter clockwise setting is still allowing solution from your bottle to flow through the head and still allowing soap in. The proper way to flush the cannon would be to put the pickup tube in water only and spray the cannon.
      I could think of one singular reason for the knob to exist, and that would be to work as a sort of metering tip where you are putting a higher soap concentration in the cannon and then using the knob to pull less solution from the cannon, achieving the same PIR while drawing less from the bottle.. The benefit here would be to fill your cannon less often, it may be useful to do a very large truck without refilling.. The problem with the knob is there are no measurements, indicators, or detents, so its darn near impossible to set a PIR with it properly. This is why i say it should simply not exist. I cant imagine that its cheaper to build the threaded assembly and valve that is inside than knob than it is to simply not include it.

    Great testing Jeff! Big thumbs up! Very interesting stuff for sure! If you did the same test on different pressure washers with different GPM, would the information be different for each pressure washer?

    • @Wildnine99
      @Wildnine99 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed different PW's would impact the way the water and soap mix

    • @jayhoughton558
      @jayhoughton558 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My educated guess is that it would make some difference, but the difference between units on the same system would remain relative (which is the important part). ie MJJC will always consume considerably more product than an MTM.

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      i think it will be different, but i also think the percentage difference between cannons will be around the same.

  • @SlowGT3
    @SlowGT3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did you happen to test the level of dilution with the Groits when using the metering tips with undiluted product?

    • @timkinley1779
      @timkinley1779 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Metering tips are the way to go. It depends on which soap/product you're using. If you already have dedicated cannons, and use the same product, the tips are kinda about what works in your case. The quality of water and pressure washer output dictate the dilution ratio as well. I've got several foam cannons because they all still work as new (four different MTMs). And I've got two pressure washers (Kranzle and EGO). Everything is easily interchangeable as long as you're using quality products. I stick with what works... because it works. I will buy the Mosmatic Foam Cannons (as long as there isn't some design flaw) once available. FYI... you should still rinse through every head after each use with water. I don't leave the heads or pick-up tubes exposed to product. After rinsing the head, I leave it off the bottle. Had too many get clogged for different reasons. And ditch the useless filters on the pick-up tubes.

      @SlowGT3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ thanks for the super thoughtful reply. I’ll give it a try! Definitely still curious where the final dilution lands with the tip. Maybe I’ll run a test, but I’m on a AR so the numbers will not be apples to apples to what Jeff observed.

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      no, but its on the list to test. my expectation is it wont change much with thinner soaps but something thick like GSF will be different. Itll be fun to find out.

    Missed the first video but what exactly is the purpose for all of this exactly? To save 100-200ml of soap?

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The first video is in the description, you could have just watched it.
      The premise is that these cannons are not all equal and we shouldn’t be pretending they are when we are comparing them in tests. I couldn’t care less about saving soap

    • @WillieBeamin-t4v
      @WillieBeamin-t4v หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I never knew there was a premise that these units were thought of as being equal.

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @
      Well nearly every test is using the same mixture in both cannons without adjusting for the internal dilution of the cannons.
      If only there was some way for you to go back and watch the first video. I really wish TH-cam would allow you to go and watch something from a few days ago.
      If you’re going to be this lazy in the comments then please unsubscribe and move on.

    So let me get this straight. According to your testing/spreadsheet, the cheapest foam cannon to buy (action) is also the cheapest to run (in terms of how much soap is needed compared to all the other foam cannons)? And the most expensive to buy (Griots) is also the most expensive to run? Or is it the other way around

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Other way around. Action uses the most product, griots uses the least (atleast mine do). That being said, if you adjusted the dilutions inside the bottle to account for the cannon it would produce the same foam, but the action would be empty in 2/3 the time of the griots

    • @BreezeMW
      @BreezeMW หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ ya I had it backwards. Definitely makes the most sense. I’ll see how I like my Active foam cannon when it gets here but those metering tips are definitely the way to go

  • @Samuelfish2k
    @Samuelfish2k หลายเดือนก่อน

    I agree with you. For it to take This long to release this ordinary foam cannon makes you wonder what took so long?
    And it’s not really a gripe with the knob or the ability to turn the foam sideways which like you said nobody ever sprays foam horizontally, it’s more of a gripe with the lack of any real innovation, especially considering they price it at $80+ shipping.
    My freaking GUTE foam cannon works the same exact way and produces the same looking foam for only $16 shipped online. No way in hell I’d pay what this or the mjjc costs. At least the Griots has added features like you pointed out.
    As far as any real innovations to a foam cannon that would make it worth $100+?
    How about a digital gauge on that knob that allows you to dial in the dilution to an exact PIR or whatever the heck that acronym is… There, I just did their job. Smh.

    Personally, I’m starting to prefer the slightly wetter foam the Active is producing with DIY Incredible Suds 32:1.

  • @timkinley1779
    @timkinley1779 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Similar to 10 new brands of electric pressure washers hitting the market. No innovation because what else can be done? Foam cannons are about the same. As far as a particular soap goes... the variation between batches may be greater than other variables. Unless you're getting a COA, you don't know the spread between a good batch and one that didn't meet spec (off-quality). Come on Mosmatic.

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes that was my exact comment about Josh’s pressure washer that was announced at sema.
      Everyone complains about the nozzles on the cannons being adjusted too easily, it would have been nice to see someone fix that one simple thing at-least.

    If it's clear don't use it. it will break immediately. if it's not hdpe white thick plastic don't buy it.

      Ive seen that, im just not the guy who drops his cannon all the time so ive never broken one.. I agree that the white bottles are going to be more durable though
