The Paper Pleasers share the same initials as Penny Polendina, and when they say, "It's what they would have wanted," that was probably an emotional backhand straight to Juane's face
@@ventustbb3229 No because clearly everyone in Pokemon is a robot. How else can you explain no one aging for over a decade? Edit: also not to mention team Rocket surviving reentry into the planets atmosphere after getting hit with the equivalent of Rat Thor's thunderous wrath.
I hate that this is killing Jaune. It’s not fair to him to have this happened to him and it breaks my heart to see my favorite character suffer this horrifically.
The Ethics and Compliance Office agrees with you fellow human. We hope he gets a happy ending. (Cthulhu willing it's with Weiss by his side, wink wink, nudge nudge.)
Its a burden every warrior tends to carry and reflect. But all warriors have time to reflect on their failures before trying again for their next battle. For jaune, he couldn’t reflect due to his isolation. Every warrior needs to carry their burden with them, but for men like Jaune, he needs to relearn how to have others help carry his burden with him.
It's sad but part of the growth arc in a hero character. There's always pain and tragedy for a character, like Jaune, to face. It's part of the Hero's Journey in all stories. There's the calm point, the call for adventure, trials and conflicts, a victory claimed, the lowest point, self-realization and renewal of strength, fight and end the war, and going home to resume the calm point
It’s like having an actual death from battle or a tragedy happen to him is too good of a release for him, it’s like for all the good he has done he has to suffer for it ten fold eventually until he just crumbles.
He looks older than that but maybe he just aged faster because of the stress. Or maybe the two suns age you twice as fast. It’s funny because people have the same question about how Obi-Wan got so old in a few years. 😂
This relates so much to Pyrrha as well. After she “killed” Penny, she immediately had ppl surround her. Even when she went to apologize to Ruby, Ruby stopped her and told her it wasn’t her fault and even protected her from the nevermore. Jaune was just swallowed up by his grief and your probably right that in all those years he spent waiting, he must’ve replayed the situation over and over again trying to find something else he could’ve done, finding no solution. I think the exact details of penny’s will actually be something that has to be discussed and ruby’s forgiveness is what’ll help him finally move forward.
Penny should at least come back as a spirit and reveal to Ruby what how it happened and apologizing to Jaune for making him do it while regretting it. It would give both of them closure. Let's just hope RT doesn't blue ball us.
Thank you for doing a video on this and putting some respect on Jaune. He has been through so much since the start of this show. If there is anyone that can understand what Ruby is going through it’s him. We can give him flak for his coping mechanisms all day, but the fact is that he has maintained more sanity than anyone could hope to in this situation. He needs to stay alive so he and Ruby can help each other now and later in delivering some Justice to Cinder
Yeah. He gets up everyday, on a strict schedule, little to no free time, and still found time to go into other acres. He works hard, disciplined, and full of willpower. He is a soldier. A very traumatized soldier.
Yeah! Jaune and Ruby have suffered enough! And now they and Team RWBY have returned to Remnant! And it's high time they give Cinder Fall what she deserves!
I think even if they are reborn, maybe some semblance of their old selves will remain. They might actually keep the names Jaune gave them. Showing that his mark is still there. That his efforts were not truly in vain.
It's interesing how the fall of Atlas seem to follow Jaune and team RWBY no matter where they go. Two times they witnessed the destruction, of the Paper Pleaser's Village and the big Market, seeing people running away in fear and water drowning whole spaces. If the Ever After does indeed respond to people's emotions - specially Ruby, then all of them NEED to accept their mistakes and learn from them.
I think that in some way connects with Alix's story yet again. When Ozpin was telling the story, he says that because Alix never learned from her initial mistake, she only succeeded in spreading it. Her initial mistake followed her throughout her story and effected everyone around her. So, I can see this being something where everyone has to learn from their pasts in order to truly escape both their past traumas and the actual Ever After.
@@43110M Which doubles the irony about Ozpin and Salem's situation as well, neither them seemed to understand or learn from their previous mistakes, and caused only to spread it even further to future generations, thus resulting in a millenia of war, and many unnecesary casualties. But the question is, Ozpin was vague as always, maybe question what type of mistake Alyx made before. Run away from home? Being a Maiden? Did a prank? Because I feel this story is not truly finished, not even Jaune seems to know the full context. And this made question if the reason why Alyx was "evil" is because she hated being in Ever After, similar in the story how Alice wanted to simple go home, but all people she met were either trying to change her, trick her or want something from her.
@@mariapazgonzalezlesmeThis could very much be true. Although knowing crwby i get the feeling that alyx is going to be revealed to be a bad apple some way or another considering how they treat their female antagonists' backstories.
This volume is absolutely golden. The story telling is phenomenal. The beautiful thing is nobody is to blame. They all had faults and mistakes but they're all trying their hardest. I understand Ruby's trauma but I'm even more impressed with Jaune. He was actually less damaged than I thought he'd be. Yes he's a little out of it but you can see his willpower to stay who he is. He spent years alone doing what he believes is right which is helping people. It's taken a toll on him but he hasn't given up after all that time, choosing to do some good in a bad situation. Truly he was the rusted knight, damaged but not broken.
Jaune is a broken man. He has a broken psyche , and a broken heart. Ruby is also broken. What better way to heal broken souls than for two broken souls to lean on each other and save each other from their individual pain.
So… dark thought: the Paper Pleasers were put there to give Jaune purpose in an attempt to trap him in the cycle of ascension They gave him purpose (something the Everafter assigns all Afterins and reassigns to them as it sees fit) and in their inevitable demise he’d probably snap to the point he’d take the tree up on its offer and be remade and by extension bound to the world somehow
I'll do you on better that seems super Far Fetch. Ruby is essentially going to be the one that causes Jaune to "Ascend." Only reason I'm saying is because as of this point the words they had shared seems to long to recover from what I see this season, So why not an accidental death, Either by a fight with Neo or with each other, And that will also be another cause for the team to have another reason to go to the tree at that point, to see if there is a way to "Ascend" him since he did become the rusted knight and all But to get jaune back.
Some people threw shade at Jaune for being an adult man yelling at a child. Which is somewhat fair, ideally an adult would have the patience and wherewithal to not yell at a 17 year old, Jaune isn't exactly in an ideal situation. Given the fact that he's been alone for decades with the only thing keeping him sane is a routine that is a constant reminder of his trauma (Pleaser's attempts at suicide no doubt brings back memories of that fateful day), it isn't hard to imagine Jaune's mental age being stuck. You've mentioned this before in another video, but it is a real thing people deal with, especially those exposed to trauma, and it certainly feels that way: EA!Jaune isn't written like a matured Jaune, he's written like he's worn down
Well it’s also bc he’s had years to process everything. While Ruby has only had a few days. He’s just taking his frustration out on her which is understandable. Especially since she was making fun of him.
@@coffeeismyfuel619 Except he wasn’t completely alone. He didn’t know anyone there, but he wasn’t completely alone. So it wasn’t solitude. I’m a little confused about that. Bc he’s acting like he was in solitude.
Yes indeed! Ruby and Jaune have suffered more then enough! I want only good things for them going forward! Ruby let go of her trauma and learned that she IS enough and Jaune let go of his trauma as well! And pretending to be a hero, because he is a real one like Ruby and the others! You're only a failure if you give up!
"And it seems we weren't prepared for a game that wasn't fair Do we just go home? Can we follow through? When all hope is gone there is one thing we can do..." - Let's Just Live This certainly has become increasingly unfair for both Jaune and Ruby
If not for the Paper Pleasers then Jaune would have lost his mind decades ago and anger towards Ruby may have been because she's been acting EXACTLY like Alyx did
He’s only been with her for a few hours. How would he know if she was acting exactly like Alyx? He was mad bc she was mocking him. The Paper Pleasers kept him sane, but at the same time they were his prisoners. Ruby was just pointing out how they weren’t really his friends. Which upset him.
Let's not even forget Jaune's home life, being the only son out of 8 kids. Or how his Great Grandfather, Grandfather, and Father were all warriors yet he had to get his hands on fake transcripts to even go to the school that trains warriors. Then lied to his parents about getting in, to which they replied "you can always move back home if things don't work out". Then while in school he was Bullied, made fun of, Looked down upon by teachers, basically told he was worthless, was ghosted and belittled by Weiss who he liked, then volume 3...
@@samphadhavihara4035 Thank you for writing down all of these points, i was thinking about them but didn't want to make my comment too long. Also thanks for finding the direct quote I was talking about, I really just didn't feel like looking it up. However from my view Jaune not going to combat school isn't a fault of his parents. His parents don't seem like bad people, he knows how to dance, he and Saffron seem to have a good relationship, he says "My mom always says, strangers are just friends you haven't meet yet." So he at least has a good relationship with his mom, I think he also said "my dad told me all women look for is confidence." Or something like that. It seems he was just overlooked sometimes. I mean try to take care of 10 people in one household. That also is probably why they camped out a lot, to get out of the cramped house and go experiance nature. Also Jaune's father is confirmed to be a huntsman so he probably protected them from any stray Grimm.
The song in the last episode shows Ruby's mental state clearly. A Beat A Step Is All You Need To Walk Away A Beat A Step Is All You Need To Fight The Urge to Stay You don't need me anymore No, you don't see me anymore I try my best to leave the floor But I can't get past the door You don't need me anymore No, you don't see me anymore I'm alone in this war I am a trap door
And if anything happens to Ruby, Jaune might blame himself for his outburst towards Ruby when he vented to her. Even though he corrected himself and apologized, the damaged seemed to be done and Ruby flew away from her team and Jaune in despair. Something tells me that in that current state, Ruby might be meeting the blacksmith again and who knows what will happen in that situation
Yea, I mean, we’ve basically already seen all the scenes shown in the trailer. There’s only a couple dialogue left, one being where who we can presume is the blacksmith talking, ask “what if you could leave ruby rose behind….”
I'm fairly new to RWBY but Jaune is my favourite character. However I see a lot of the fandom hates his guts so I'm expecting them to give in to fan demand again and kill him off. I definitely don't want that to happen.
Really enjoying your coverage of volume 9 so far! I haven't been watching it for reasons that I'm not saying or else people think I'm attacking them, but your videos on it have almost tempted me enough to get back into it! Keep doin what yer doin! Edit: also nice shirt! Really cool!
I have various theories for Jaune: 1) Jaune's companion, Juniper, is a product of Jaune's evolved Semblance, created out of his loneliness. 2) If Neo seemingly kills Ruby in front of him, Jaune might go completely insane, maybe have an effect with Ever After where Jaune is transformed into an Evil Knight or such, and kills Neo in retaliation, before seeking the total destruction of Ever After and just put an end to everything, so team RWBY have to now stop him, possibly killing him in the process. 3) Neo DOES kill Ruby, but Jaune, in his desperation to save her channels every bit of his Semblance and pours everything into her, ultimately dying in the process, but reviving Ruby. And Ruby, as a result, becomes united with Jaune, like Oscar and Ozpin, their souls slowly merging together. Ruby also gains access to Jaune's Semblance in combination with her own. 4) Jaune goes for an Ascension, but instead of killing him or such, Jaune actually splits apart, where Jaune himself is back in his younger form, still carrying the experience of his time. However, his Ascension is the creation of a new Ever Afterian, being his Rusted Knight self who acts as the protector of Ever Afterians so that they can safely reach Ascension.
To be completely transparent ive never thought of ruby as the protagonist despite her often being the focus. I also was never on the wagon of Jaune being the true protagonist despite him being my favorite, though i feel he has the best qualities to be one. If Ruby dies well i guess we got our protagonist
When Jaune was shouting that he was the only one that could have done it, I know he was referring to the fact that he was the only one there to mercy kill Penny, but it sounds like he is trying to convince himself that he was the only one that could have. Like, of the seven main characters by (RWBY + JN_R), I don’t think that any of them would have had the mental fortitude to actually kill Penny. Ruby would have dismissed the idea out of hand, Weiss I don’t think would be able to bring herself to do it. Blake would probably not do anything due to her past experience with the White Fang, and not wanting to walk back on all the progress she’s made. Yang might be able to, but her weapons don’t exactly scream “quick and painless death”; plus she spent most of her childhood raising and protecting Ruby, and I doubt she would be able to bring herself to kill someone that Ruby obviously cares for. Then for Nora, I believe that she has already had such a traumatic childhood that she wouldn’t be able to bear killing a friend. Ren might be the only other person that might be able to live with themself, but he had such a turbulent Vol 8 that I’m not sure. Jaune has lost the most since Beacon, and due to his mindset in Volume 4 & 5, while he doesn’t recklessly put himself at risk anymore, he understood the idea of sacrifice for the greater good. Even though he can hardly live with himself anymore, swapping any other character into his place at that moment, and I don’t think any of them could bring themselves to do what Jaune did.
Jaune needs a breather. I love Jaune, but he (and Qrow) is used as a punching bag alot in RWBY. To recap a little what I know from the top of my head: - Subject of bullying (by Cardin). - Blackmailed (by Cardin). - Lost Pyrrha (by Cinder). - Had a fall out with Ren, during their time as team ALOY. Being Jaune, Ren, Oscar and Yang (when Ren finally addressed that Jaune cheated his way into Beacon). - Had to "help" Penny to pass on the powers to Winter. - Got flung back in time (by a weird time fruit). - Got betrayed/poisoned (by Alyx). - Became so mentally unstable to call the a group called the Paper pleasers after his actual friends. All in a desperate attempt not the be alone anymore after what happend to Alyx and Louis. - Wasn't able to prevent the Paper pleasers from destroying the dam and in turn themselfs. Jaune never got over some of those losses (Pyrrha, Penny or Louis). He never wanted to make those extreme decisions, but Jaune was the only one who could.
He's not the only one. Ruby needs one, too. Seriously, all the flakk Ruby gets from the Fandom and how things keep blowing up her face in the show. It's just despicable. Whatever force of nature is giving them such hell, THEY'VE HAD ENOUGH!! Give them a freaking win, already.
A couple of interesting things here. First, you pointed out when reviewing the intro song that Jaune seemed to be stuck in time, with the clocks in the background behind him being stuck at 11 o'clock. Jaune's self-appointed task of protecting the Paper Pleasers may have given him something to try and recover from killing Penny, but the reality is that obsession is what's prevented him from truly moving on. The RWBY Roundtable video today describes him as in a "Groundhog Day" situation - helping the PPs is what's kept him stuck in time. For as much as it hurt him to see the PPs destroyed, it was necessary in order for him to actually move forward and deal with his trauma. Also, I heartily agree with you that Jaune in particular is the one who needs to find and help Ruby. Throughout the entire series, we've seen the parallels build between them, and it's crucial to note that Ruby is the other person with the most emotional investment in almost everything you listed for Jaune. She's the other person who understands the burden of leadership, and even helped Jaune with that back in volume 1. She's the other person who was most affected by Pyrrha's death - she was the one who got there *just* to late to save Pyrrha, and then had to watch her die horribly. She's also (obviously) the one most affected by Penny's death. I've thought for a while that Jaune and Ruby really had some things they needed to talk over with each other, and I agree that need is all the more urgent after the angry words they just exchanged.
This Fight between Jaune and Ruby may make them realize that they Love each other and it may strengthen their bond even more, I really want Lancaster or White Knight to happen, Jaune deserves love
Jaune has been my favorite character for most of the series and I hate to see him like this, stuck in his own grief for probably 30+ years. That last scene of this most recent episode made me cry, for both Ruby and Jaune. I really hope the 2 of them can repair their relationship, but I have a feeling that's going to take some time... More time than we have left in volume 9. Him trying to protect the paper pleasers against their wishes for this long just screamed Penny all over and it makes me very sad for him. As for what you said about his story going forward, I think all of that goes out the window if he ascends at the end of this volume because he loses everything he knows. I'm just waiting for whatever plan Oz has for him to be revealed. I think it does have something to do with the Relic of Destruction. I don't necessarily think there will be that much of a drawback with it because the other relics (even the little we've seen of the relic of choice in the Indecisive King) don't have massive drawbacks like taking part of the user away in exchange for usage. For the Relic of Knowledge, the only conditions are you have to say Jinn's name and 3 questions every century. For the Relic of Creation, you have to say Ambrosius's name and then give the specific instructions for what you want created. In the Indecisive King, they put the crown on and was shown the choice they'd have to make in the future. I'm sure there's more to it than that, like having to say the name of the spirit inside. So, why would the Relic of Destruction be so different that it had such heavy side effects?
Jaune's therapy will be interesting. In a way this is exactly what he asked for when he made it his life's goal to be a hero. To constantly be beaten down and struggle against the odds. Glory is nice, but glory has a price that has to be paid.
I keep getting miyuverse shirou vibes from juane, he just wants to take something he cares about and not lose it, at this point he just wants to save people because it's the only thing that brings him any semblence of joy
I'm still worried about the flames around Jaune in the opening because at the start of the episode i Thought oh the paper pleaser village is going to go up in flames Now we're back to either he is reforged by the blacksmith or he is killed damn it
CRWBY in they're roundtable video just confirmed on how long Jaune has been in the Ever After, 10 or 20 years he's been there. So he would at the age of 29 or 39 at the end of both his 20's or 30's. 20 years makes alot more sense then 10 years in my opinion about how he acted & have a bit white hair to it.
I'm 100% convinced that Jaune is gonna buy the farm by end of the volume, nevermind the series. He's taken everything the war against Salem has given him on the chin relatively well, but being trapped in another realm for 2+ decades minimum, constantly reliving Penny's death at his hands, on top of going half-crazy from lonliness, would grind even the sturdiest of people to dust. He's not convinced that the tree represents anything but death, and given him being shown around fire in the intro sequence, I'm pretty confident in my bet that he's going to die via A: Sacrificing himself to the tree in order to get team RWBY home, or B: Bookending V9 as another soul lost to madness and despair as he attempts to destroy the tree.
Ruby never recovers in such a case. She already blames herself for everything that went wrong in Atlas (along with the circumstances of falling into the Ever After) and for her to lose her first friend, her constant support, because she failed to reach out to him in both of their time of need, that will haunt Ruby for the rest of her life, any "hope" she will restore by the end of V9 would be crushed immediately, never to spark again.
@@HighPriestFuneral Possibly. Unless Ruby and Jaune reconcile prior to Jaune’s sacrifice, and Ruby recognizes that Jaune’s and Penny’s decision to sacrifice themselves was their choice. Now IDEALLY, Jaune makes it out of V9 still breathing, but I can’t envision a scenario where he returns to Remnant with RWBY with zero strings attached.
Am hoping that Jaune finds a way through his guilt and pain, though not only for himself. His unique trait of absolute belief in what he does needs to be rediscovered, because only once he has that can he truly help Ruby. What I expect is every character will have a moment with Ruby, explaining to her how she helped them. Jaune needs to help himself so he can help others. He has experienced pain and loss, he can take those experiences with him to teach others a way to overcome it. And maybe this will tie in with Ruby discovering herself, learning to accept death and understand life. This will hopefully strengthen her Silver Eyes and get her back to the "pure, simple soul" to teach those qualities to Salem
Although it hasn't been mentioned, Jaune may have long realized that if he does somehow get back, he'll have to tell Pietro what happened to Penny. Pietro already thinks he lost his daughter a second time so when he learns this; maybe he can come to understand when he learns the circumstances though it will may be a while before he can forgive Jaune.
I still believe Jaune will die in flames only to ascend and return with renewed purpose. A rusted old knight reforged in flames into a shining white one. But i do believe there is a possibility that Ruby might ascend as well, just not in a positive way. Once she meets the blacksmith again there could be a new option for her, not the axe of a perfect huntress, but a silvery horned mask of monster that brings ones true end.

With how the Cat seemed to act and with what it said, it seemed to imply that if something Ascends, it might have the option of keeping their memories. It could be possible that Jaune comes to terms with his trauma and Ascends, while still retaining his memories. That way, he could be “reborn” into his younger self again (RIP Beard) and not lose all that he has gone through.
I do hope next episode solely focuses on Jaune Weiss Blake and Yang because it would have more impact for a solo episode for ruby but idk at this point Theres a song that I listened to that it does relate to ruby more but jaune can also be seen through the song and its by NF called the search its pretty good but seems a bit relatable to both of them right now
There's gonna be some mad if it's not a Neo epsidoe but WBY and Jaune need to make up with Ruby before Neo decides to just turn up on her own with the real Jabberwalker.
All this piled on to the fact the girl who actually loved him was murdered too by cinder just keeps adding up for the guy. Surprised he hasn't snapped completely yet
On top of that Cinder nearly killed Weiss back in V5 but Jaune healed her. Then she nearly killed Penny and he couldn't heal her. Cinder is ruination incarnate.
Rwby knowing that Jaune killed Penny at the end whend they go see the tree to find the true end of the Alice story , Rwby whit range will offer Jaune to the tree to go back home and as broken and lonely He has been for 20-30 years , he will give up and die knowing his death will get the team back home
I think Yang and Blake should go after Ruby while Weiss stays with Jaune. Ruby can talk about her feelings to her sister and Weiss can console Jaune. She can remind him that he’s not a disappointment and that he is a hero because he saved Weiss on multiple occasions. Most notably in Volume 5 by healing her but also in Volume 8 because Cinder probably would’ve killed her if he hadn’t let the powers pass on to Winter. And even back in Volume 1 when he caught her although a bit clumsily he did jump to save her. I think she really needs to remind him of this be there’s no need for him to think he’s a faliure. (Maybe we’ll also get a White Knight confession? 👀) And then the two groups could meet back up.
I too hope that Weiss will be te one to make Jaune take the first step to regain his spirit. In fact, Weiss seems to be in a better position that Blake and Yang to support him because of what happened with Penny. I honestly doubt whiteknight will ever get to anything serious, this ship hasn't had enough development in previous volumes and Jaune doesn't seem to have the romantic interest in Weiss that he had in v1-v2. Despite this, I would like to see what I commented at the beginning.
YEAH! I mean, it's not like she almost died taking a hit that was meant for ruby like 48 hours ago or anything. She clearly gives no fucks about her sister.🙄
And yet. When her own sister was breaking right in front of her. The most reaction we saw from her currently is.. defend her new gf instead of.. idk.. giving her a massive hug to let her know she isnt alone.
Juniper found Jaune after he was poisoned and brought him to the Paper Pleasers, but Juniper is never in his flashback of travels with the siblings nor on the beach with him when they fall. This strongly implies that Jaune first met Juniper when he was saved. It all but confirms it for me that Juniper is either Alyx or Lewis after ascention. They would be the only ones who knew where he was. Maybe the Cat too, but the Cat is still there, so Juniper isn't them. Perhaps the Cat gave the newly existing Rabbit-Deer the purpose of saving/protecting Jaune?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jaune is playing Dark Souls while everyone else is playing Devil May Cry... We can only hope that he doesn't go hollow.
It would be tragic irony if the paper pleasers became rock ruiners/scissor searchers. Destroyers of nice and calm things on that acre or beings that take and/or salvage. Everything they worked on quickly remade into ruin
Having a bunch of thirsty moms chasing after you can do wonders for your confidence. I really hope Jaune is able to shank Cinder before this is all over.
Now what I'm curious about if Jaune will look the same or will he look like Vol 8 Jaune upon returning home. Cause imagine Nora and Ren's reaction seeing ever after Jaune.
I do have a few theories i would like tk bring up. First one is about Jaune and the Ever After what if Lewis or Alex whoever got out was either 1. A ancestor of Jaune (I don't really care about looking at physical details because this is literal ages this could have just changed through the bloodline.) Or 2. This being my favorite Lewis or Alex after getting out of the Ever After created Jaunes weapon inspired by its design. My reasoning is because waaaaay back in volume 1 Jaune said that it's been in his family for ages passed down to everyone so it's quite possible that the Ever After is the reason why our boy wields a sword and shield. Second one is a short one: could Alex have lied about the Jabberwok that being what if the two of them got to the tree and as they were just leaving Lewis was snatched and possibly killed by the Jabberwok and when she wrote the book she claimed to have killed the thing possibly out of anger for being unable to do so. Third theory: why is the Ever After in such a state panic while on the outside it looks fine but when with the curious cat I see him as an overworked individual who is constantly trying to fix mistakes it's almost like he's trying to hold the very small threads of the world together that why I think while the people of the Ever After have their purpose and get reborn to get a new purpose the Ever After also has a purpose but maybe the world has fulfilled its purpose and is slowly trying to be reborn the only way this has been delayed is by the cat sending more and more people to the tree. Fourth theory: short one but a banger and I'm sure many have thought this but Little is going to be eaten by the Jabberwok that's all I'm saying. Final Theory: this one is an easy one but what if....what if the Ever After is a realm where a Relic is located or was originally made to house. Here goes my theory is that Ozpin possibly created the Ever After to house a relic and its residents were made to basically id check for good aligned people so that when they reach the tree they are given the relic. Also I would like to make a cliff note but when Cinder attacked the bridge she blew off a bunch of people off and I'm wondering where the hell those people are in the Ever After.
I know this is gonna sound fucked up or making ruby a massive hypocrite. but she shouldn't be talking about how [sarcastically] they should all be mourning for jaune's "make believe" Friends. after all wasn't penny a robot? Yes she had personality, emotions and desire (basically what it means to be human) but at the end of the day she was just a robot with pietro's aura in her and the winter maidens powers in her she wasn't even real. she was only real for like 10 minutes when they use ambrosus power to make her a real girl. So by ruby's logic even if the paper people have their own emotion, desire and feelings and are considered make believe and shouldn't even been mourn for why should any of them even jaune and ruby herself should be mourning for penny at all? I mean atleast for jaune he dont give a fuck who or what you are as long as you fight along side him or be by his side you are considered a friend to him (i think thats what he said once) I know thats kinda a stretch and was never intended but still its something to think about
From what I understood about her talking about the imaginary friends, is that it came from her feeling that her friends didn't seem to care as much when they found out that Penny died. They kept trying to move forward and when the PP passed away they instantly went over to Jaune to help him. This however could just be me misunderstanding the situation tho.
Why do I get the feeling that Jaune will save Ruby in that he prevents her from eliminating Neo as a problem permanently? Tells her that she does not want to become that person, turns her away and as Neo breathes a sigh of relief Jaune says "But I already am that person, because of you." -Slice- He said it himself about Penny. "I was the only one who could do it." I don't think it was about his location. He was able to go through with it and hates himself. If it had been Ren? Nora? Ruby, Weiss, Blake or Yang? He thinks of himself as being capable of murdering helpless friends. Putting down Neo in cold blood? Yeah, he could go there if it meant saving Ruby from taking that path.
who ever it is that was remade as Juniper it should help with Jaune's state. Lewis, Alyx, Pyrha or Penny, any of them would be able to do something to help him when revealed.
It would be halarious if in pure anger Ruby kills Neo. All the wile telling her that she didn't kill Roman. Death by Cresent Rose, or petal scattering via her Semblance evolving.
intersting note that Juane in the ever after is suppose to represent the white and red knight in the story of alice and looking glass I believe it is called. Anyway the short of it is that the red knight while (from what I could find ) is a very skilled knight and would go out to try to capture Alice. The White knight was a goofy knight while kind he would fall off his horse however he was very cautious making sure he was well equipped. He would protect Alice. The short of it is that one point both the red knight and white knight must duel each other in order for the white knight to save alice. In end the white knight does win. What we could be seeing here is that Juane the one we see in everafter might at one point need to fight a physical or mental image of innerself to get over his trauma. We also are seeing from what we saw with the paper star fish the red knight version of himself showing out he is very overprotective almost like he is keeping these guys captive. In end my belief is that Jaune will need to fight or confront his inner demons for that white knight verrsion to show or whole new one. You could almost say in due to the crimson blood on his armor is causing it to rust. He must wash away the red for the armor to sparkle white again.
also if jaune does fight his inner demon it might a thing where he gets left behind as in he won't leave till he beats himself type of deal. Cause one thing bothered me we know for a fact that even before jaune was here. There was already a rusted knight (story book) one. witht he episode showing Juane is the rusted knight we might have a time loop on our hands where whatever happens to old man jaune if he dies or gets out his youngerself will always end up here to become the next rusted knight. Always have to keep the pages turning.
I honestly hope that they all can overcome these challenges and be better. If I'm being honest these problems and stuff reminds me of reading the ending of the hunger games with the epilogue after the trilogy ends and the experiences. Everytime I theorize or watch these vids that cover the topic I just think back to that in the ending of the hunger games book 3. The conclusion of this series as a whole will be most likely be. Relic summon gods. God's judge. 1. Salem dead and gods back. 2. Salem lives gods destroy and everything just repeats again. 3. everyone dies and the world starts fresh but that just a dispointing ending cause we already witnessed what happened from doing that. So it be a repeat. So that ending is not likely. Depending on how the emotional state of people will be after the end of the series will be interesting but will have to wait 5 to 10 years at this pace. I will say the next volume will be half everafter cause if not they about to rush up the story. Just my opinion. Rambled a bit too long about things. Just ignore this. It's ramblings.
Not sure if this was mentioned before, but wasn't Alice in Wonderland written by C S 'Lewis'? I'm wondering if it was really Alex that went back to Remnant. With how the story said they had to trade immaterial things like their happiest and saddest memories, I wouldn't be surprised if the part at the end that said she was no longer the girl she once was, was Lewis hinting at what became of the memory of his sister. The cat said that the tree only ascends Ever Afterens, but since even the cat lost his memories at that point, who knows where those rules stand - the siblings' semblance wasn't even mentioned, yet the dagger suggests that they may have had some training.
They likely will have some lingering feelings after all as Cat most Curious said something like they heart doesn't forget easily. Like how the Red Prince had a lingering hatred for humans because of Alyx and suspicion as they said they heard from a friend he likes games even without knowing for sure they are humans humans have a very similar shape that we don't quite see from any ever afterians
The sacrifice thing would also go with Jaune's original Fairy tale inspiration Joan of Arc who willingly walked into fire for a greater good she saw in through her visions
11:30 Ruby is not going to die as she has plot immunity Really Neo might be the one to die when Ruby stops holding back and shows what she is truly capable of as Ruby is a trained warrior from Qrow and huntsman academies whereas Neo has not
True. Plus she’s always held back in one way or another versus humans. I feel like Ruby might accident kill or wound Neo. Since she has a bunch of clones, Ruby might just slash through them all and accident kill Neo. Or something similar.
@@kaistrange1672 i can see it now. Jaune as the prince of darkness like gabriel belmont and ruby will (maybe?) Be like trevor belmont. Dont know about Weiss, blake and yang though
I feel that saving the Paper Pleaser were his way for coping Panny death so that is why I think he was doing this everyday but now its gone. Jaune may think ascension work like the maidens power do one's they die the their soul gets transfer to another making them the new host and the old host soul is just the power for the new one with nothing left to connect them to the world or the people that they know.
Funny thing is me and some friends had made a small scenario after the whole outburst. Like with Ruby...Jaune had someone chasing him. Someone far more ancient and strict, I had a idea that there are spirits that follow certain concepts: Chivalry, Bushido, and Conquest. With Jaune's time in the Ever After the spirit chivalry would sense him and come after one. For what purpose....to test him, if he passes there's a chance of redemption....but if he fails...he would end up as rust on the spirit's blade. If wondering what image I conjured for the Spirit of Chivalry, imagine FFXIV's version of Odin.....and yes it should give a samurai jack vs the samurai spirit vibe to all this. Course I made a scenario where he passes the test....and he would fail not only losing his life but becoming a specter bound to the Spirit of Chivalry.
I can honestly see a small moment between Jaune & Weiss of comfort. Maybe she trims some of his hair & beard. They finally talk to one another about what happened on the bridge as a way of vocalizing their own issues & pain, They will need to take rests while looking for Ruby since the Ever After is quite vast & Ruby has incredible agility.
Not relevant to this video, but I just realized, Ruby flew into the direction where the jabberwalkers came to the paper city (the direction of Jaune's house). Not sure why since she seems to want to be away from fights at the moment as she is so overburdened by everything that's happening, but I'm guessing she will be closer to Neo than WBY at the start of next episode.
This could just be me, but remember when he is telling the group about the map with all the acres on it? Then he says that he got a really good feeling about this one with a bunch of pyramids? Yang says in vol 8 that the vaults aren't a part of Remnant, so what if the pyramid location is the same acre that the lamp used to be stored on. Think about it. The way the location for the lamp looked was a desert realm, and that could very well have pyramids in it. It made me wonder if the spirits in the relics live in the Ever After. This would make finding the Beacon Relic harder if it was hidden in a specific acre in the Ever After. Just a theory l have.
The writers have kinda painted themselves into a corner - they either have to feed Juane to the tree or they have to keep writing him as kinda crazy for the rest of the series. Basically, I think we are building up to sending Juane through whatever process happened to amp up Neo but have it sort of fix his mental problems. Ascension is supposed to make an Afterin a better version of themselves, right? Maybe it does the same thing to humans, but allows them to keep their memory? Or maybe Neo ran in to Lewis. And what actually happened to him will be the key to restoring Juane to some semblance of his former self. However, I think before they get back to Remnant we're going to see Juane and Ruby fight each other to be the sacrifice that get's the rest of them home, only for them all to realize that Neo is the one responsible for this.
RoosterTeeth is actually scaring me with their whole suicidal ideation shtick. Jaune suffers because he cares. What if the lesson he gets out of this is to not care anymore? Become a sociopath? Become a monster?
I'm so glad that someone recognizes that while Jaune was taken care of, that it was at the expense of someone else. Jaune said the absolute worst possible things. Yes, he had a shoe in the door to respond to Ruby (not fully knowing the context of her outburst) but he went too far in blaming the death of thousands of individuals as well as the death of hundreds in the NA on her. The plan was proposed as a solution to something that was failing and was something everyone worked on and agreed to. Because of a plot device, any plan Ruby could have made on her own to be blamed for would have been thwarted by Cinder and the lamp which if you wanted to play the blame game is entirely the fault of...Ren, Yang and Jaune? For letting Oscar get kidnapped? Neo hating Ruby because of Roman's death was also something out of Ruby's control. She can't be blamed for being on the ground, unarmed, getting beaten to death by the aforementioned villain while he gets eaten mid villain speech. Jaune didn't come for Ruby about what she said about the PP's and about them being make believe friends, he immediately gravitated toward offloading all his guilt and resentment onto a single person. Nothing about what he said to Ruby directly to her face had anything to do with his feelings towards defending his friends or village, they were hateful, spiteful words meant to do as much damage as they could to shut the other person down so he wouldn't be the only one feeling them alone. What I got more from Ruby's rant was "I don't understand, and someone explain to me the priority and appropriate time to deal with our feelings and say what you want to say. You don't think we have a substantial leader, but you're looking to me for input on Jaune's situation for which there are no words and platitudes won't cut it - but clearly this is the time for them as you're consoling him minutes after my panic attack nearly got me killed. And right after Jaune suggested that even if I don't care about him and his village, I could at least care about you, but right now I can't fight and that's important to you but now's not a good time, right? When is a good time? Now that all the positive feelings are sorted out, can we talk about the bad ones? I'm sorry if this is awkward for you, and in any other circumstance I'd be ecstatic for you both, but what happened to the importance of priority number one of getting out of here. I wasn't aware we could make a pitstop for personal problems, so if we can what about me? Can we talk about how I'm feeling now? Or are we going to make another pitstop for someone else (after numerous interruptions) and the 'death' of all these beings we have no connection to? When am I going to matter enough to you as a friend and a sister, and not as your 'leader', to address the fact I can't keep going." Ruby didn't accuse anyone of war crimes, maybe poor wording she wasn't able to address when interrupted during brunch to Weiss, or the elephant in the room that are the Bees. The worst was devaluing Jaune's distress and the hypocrisy behind the other's reaction to it. Yang didn't like the way everyone was named, they thought Jaune was a bit nuts, and were starting to distrust the things Jaune told them about the tree, Lewis and the cat. Yang said the plan was a schedule or a list of chores. The PP's wanted to ascend, but were being held captive by Jaune being displeased by their leaving. I don't think anything Ruby could have said to Jaune after Weiss asked would have resulted in anything different. I think Jaune would have had the same reaction regardless if Ruby had an outburst or not, he still would have blamed her for the attack and Neo's presence. It's clear he had some resentment to work out with Ruby the moment he threw her her weapon and if Ruby had given him some blind optimistic platitude he probably would have exploded. There was no win either way in this one, suffering isn't a game and you don't get points for how much you're hurting. You certainly don't get points for hurting others intentionally. I hope Jaune recognizes this, if not someone else. I think it's perfectly fair this happened to Jaune, he needed the wake up call that he can't live like this and he's not actually protecting anything. I mean he was going to ditch the village to look for a way out while the girls took care of his to-do list right? He was trapped and couldn't let go let go of things out of his control. At some point he has to forgive himself or like we've seen him lash out at Ruby it'll just eat him alive.
Damn, poor Jaune. First Ruby, now him. He couldn't stop Pyrrha, he healed Weiss but almost lost her and he was forced to kill Penny instead of healing just to transfer a power that was no longer important to Salem but Cinder wanted for herself. Cinder ruined him three times over! Can't fate just cut the boy some slack? Hell, cut Ruby some slack, too. Like I said, as understandable as the situation was, what Penny made him do was still cruel even if it was just to make one more choice. Not helped by the fact she showed not regret about what she did. Which is why Penny doesn't comprehend the darker sides of decision-making. Suicide is not good no matter how good your intentions are. Assisted Suicide is still Suicide. As I said Penny charged into a bad situation while having bad feelings cloud her mind. I'm not saying she was suicidal. She did have good intentions. But she was just trying too hard to prove she can make her own choices that she even decided to take extreme risks to make one. She refused to listen to her friends. Making her human freed her of virus but it didn't free her of her insecurities like feeling like a puppet on strings. That's why Penny needs to come back to life or at least as a spirit. Little could be an "ascended" Penny for all we know. Her body fell through the void, landed here, no death in Ever After, revived and ascended. So there. Fate knows she probably regrets what did deep down but didn't want to show to Winter and wants to fix it. And now fate is giving her a second chance in life to correct it and to be more mindful of her choices. Plus her coming back and reveal to Ruby her side of what happened and apologizing to Jaune for what she had him do would give them closure. Besides I doubt Ruby would believe Jaune that Penny made him do it and even if she did, she'd probably be mad at Penny for suggesting it. EDIT: The thing that would really cap this all off would be Penny saying "Pyrrha says hi".
Poor Jaune and poor Ruby indeed. They both have suffered enough. As you said Cinder Fall has wronged Jaune thrice over. First Pyrrha, then Weiss and now Penny! And she indirectly caused Jaune to do the unthinkable to Penny, and that was the catalyst to Ruby's depression. And caused Jaune, Neo and Team RWBY to fall off the Crossroads into the Ever After! Like we discussed before; I too believe what Penny did was understandable! But her inability to listen to others, especially her own friends caused her to make several irrational decisions! And all because Ironwood, the Ace Ops and Cinder kept gaslighting her, making her think the battle of Atlas was somehow her fault, and being a robot makes her unable to make her own choices(Screw you Cinder! She's more human then you'll ever be)! Her sacrificing herself and delivering the Maiden Power to Winter, all at the tip of Jaune's sword being the most blatant example! I understand why it had to happen, I just wish they didn't need to kill her! Like Phoenix Knight said; Jaune was making great progress with saving Weiss' life, unlocking his Semblance, and getting much needed closure to Pyrrha. At least he knows that people do remember her, and see her as a fallen hero! We still miss you Pyrrha! But then Penny made him kill her, he fell off the Crossroads, landed in the Ever After, spent decades waiting for Team RWBY to arrive(I think he was there for 10 to 20 years)! And then he became the Rusted Knight and helped Alyx, Lewis and the Curious Cat. And the paranoid Alyx rewarded his efforts by poisoning him and leaving him for dead! And he developed a very unhealthy obsession with protecting the Paper Pleasers as a way to overcompensate for everything that went wrong! Believing himself to be a failure! Unintentionally holding all the Papers hostage just to feel like a hero for once! He even assembled a list of 50 things to do every day, and most of it involved protecting the Papers! Clearly the girls were right about getting him away from the Paper Pleasers, as taking care of them wasn't doing him any favors mentally! The Papers killing themselves was extreme, but there was no other way for them to Ascend with Jaune around! At least Jaune got closure with them too! And Ruby abandoned her friends because she thinks they don't care about her feelings and her trauma! And he feels bad for all these things! Like Weiss said; Even the best Huntsmen in history have lost, but they were all incredibly brave and good! Even with all that in mind Ruby's group was still able to save thousands of people, warn the world about Salem, restore Jaune and Ruby's confidence, redeem Neo, defeat the Curious Cat and find their way back to Remnant! And they did it all without Ironwood's help! And as you said previously; Pietro might be the only one who can bring Penny back from the brink! But even that is wishful thinking! But if there was even a chance it will work, I'd gladly take it! Even if she only came back as a Ghost. It's better then nothing! Come back Penny! Jaune and Ruby still need closure with her! But at least they're ready to face whatever Cinder and Salem can throw at them together! Look out Grimm Queen and Fallen Maiden, they're coming for you! And THEY WILL WIN!
@@neoclayman0302 Yang previously said that Ruby could've told them what was going on and nobody was asking her to be perfect. Sitting around and expecting people to notice your pain is a terrible idea! If you are suffering from personal demons and want help, you get up and tell them how you feel about what happened. That is part of Ruby's flaws: 1) As Leader, she must be strong, able and confident in front of her team and friends. Thus, she believes if they find out about her vulnerabilities, they'll think she's weak. 2) Her desire to put others above herself, while selfless, makes her believe that putting her emotional baggage onto them would only make things more complicated for them as she believes they are suffering problems of their own. These factors are just two of the many things holding her back from seeking help when she needed it most. On the other hand, she wanted to tell them about her problems and had every opportunity to do so. But she didn't because she either kept getting interrupted by one obstacle after another or she just changes her mind altogether. Like she could've told them while they were in Jaune's hut at Paper Pleasers' village before going to bed but didn't. Hell, even they tried to talk to her, themselves, crap kept happening. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was the Cat masterminded these distractions. Seriously, if push came to shove and if her pain was that urgent, she could've just put her foot down at this point and say "Guys! There is something VERY important I want to get off my chest! Can I have your attention, PLEASE!? Thank you." Her friends didn't mean to take her for granted but she didn't do herself any favors by waiting too long to talk to them. I get what people are saying about Blake and Yang, but their being too harsh and they're blowing it out of proportion. Both of them were trying to make light of their current situation, but to Ruby, it was like she was being mocked over Penny's death. Thus, she became envious. Like I said, Ruby should've opened up, not because she's their leader but because she's their friend. I honestly can't blame Jaune for unintentionally holding the Paper Pleasers hostage. This is what suicide can do to the people you love. Penny's actions, while noble, were shrouded by the mists of doubt and desperation. She rushed on in without any thought put into it. She didn't get the memo that she had the Relic on hand, painting herself a bigger target. She didn't listen to her friends because she was done listening. She wanted to do her own thing to fix her mess whether they liked it or not. At that point it might as well have been an attempt to escape her demons. She failed to realize Sacrifice is only great when the implications are fully understood and its purpose is just. Now, in Jaune's defense, he didn't completely understand how Ever After really works. Ascension could be a lie for all he knew. Plus the Paper Pleasers were trying to ascend in ways that involved killing themselves, which made his dilemma even worse. All the more reason why Penny should at least come back as a ghost to give Ruby and Jaune closure, apologize for her actions and to tell them to not make the same mistake as she did.
@@kidprime6863 I agree! Ruby is a great person and a great leader! But her two biggest problems was 1) Her need to put up a brave face for everyone, show no vulnerability and 2) Her need to shoulder all of the burden and put others above herself! Both of which are noble qualities, but she unintentionally put too much of it on her shoulders and thought she couldn't open up to anybody because if a leader can't be strong, then the whole group could fall apart! And the weight of all her failures adding to that only made it worse! Not to mention her needing to live up to her unreasonably high standard of what a Huntress should be! Perfect, like she thought of her Mom till recently! I won't deny that Yang was right, that Ruby should've opened up to them! Especially to her since they're Sisters! And I too was frustrated that she had so many opportunities to tell her friends that she's not okay, or for someone to notice and realize that she is depressed! But EVERY SINGLE TIME, someone or something stops her from telling them, or pulls their attention somewhere else! I honestly wouldn't be surprised either if the Curious Cat orchestrated everything that caused these events and distractions that eventually lead to Ruby's meltdown! He even flat out admitted to her that he was trying to break Ruby from the moment they met! If Blake and Yang seemed uncaring to Ruby, it was only because they were trying to keep everyone's spirits up. I bet Blake would've said something to try and lift Ruby's spirit had she not told her to 'Shut up!' I can't really blame Jaune either, keeping the Papers safe was probably the only thing holding him together and keeping him from becoming insane! Even if it was a daily routine! And as for Penny yes, she was just tired of everyone telling her what to do, even those who only had her best interests at heart. Namely Ruby and all of her friends! But blamed herself and tried to fix things far out of her control, or anyone else! Still the Battle and fall of Atlas was enough to make anyone desperate, even Ruby and Penny! Heck, Ruby's Group came up with that elaborate plan out of desperation to simultaneously stop Ironwood and the Ace Ops, save Penny's life, secure the Relic of Creation and evacuate all of Atlas and Mantle before it's too late! All in one fell swoop! Like the old saying goes; Desperate times call for desperate measures! And yes Jaune had no point of reference for whether or not Ascension was what the Curious Cat and the Afterans kept saying! For all the heroes knew, Jaune was right, the Cat lied and Ascension is just the Tree eating you and spitting someone else out in your place! And Jaune stopping the Papers was really a no-brainer. Anyone would've tried to stop them from setting their houses on fire 3 times a day, flood their village or unleash a Killer Goose upon the town. From a Human's point of view they were senselessly trying to kill themselves and come back to life, like the Battle Creek Grunts from Red Vs. Blue! Good thing that Ascending was the only thing the Curious Cat didn't lie about! And now we have the Genial Gems! Undeniable proof that Ascension doesn't erase you from existence! And yes, I too advocate for Ruby and Jaune getting some much needed closure with Penny!
@@neoclayman0302 Ruby told Blake to shut up because she was fed up with being told to stay positive no matter the situation as they're just words. Futile and meaningless attempts to try to see the bright side. Summer and the stories Ruby read growing up inspired her to become a Huntress. But the latter were just romanticized fables. Ruby didn't understand that all heroes, including her mother, had to face many challenges, endure hardships and make the toughest choices that helped them grow into heroes. I'm pretty sure leaving her family wasn't the only hard choice Summer made in her life. Ruby genuinely wanted to become a hero to do good. No one told her about the responsibilities, nuances, burdens, challenges, complexities and trials that comes with it. Neither did Jaune. But as we said before, even the hero needs saving. In her efforts to be strong for others, Ruby has forgotten that, like every hero, she's still human. She's not Supergirl. Ruby and Jaune have experienced a crucial point: the vulnerabilities of a leader. Trust me, it's everybody's dream to become a leader of a team. But it's never going to be easy as the path to leadership is riddled with challenges and complexities. The burden of responsibility, the fear of failure and the balance between action and contemplation are aspects that every leader grapples with. Also Ruby learned the hard way that the essence of true leadership comes from being oneself. As a friend told me, Authenticity in leadership is irreplaceable. A leader must be true to themselves, their values and their visions. This kind of Authenticity inspire trust and loyalty to others. Besides, reaching out to others and sharing our burdens isn't a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. It acknowledges that she's part of a team, and that together, they are stronger. However, when you get right down to it, Ruby and Jaune never asked to be leaders nor were they even ready. Ruby was drafted two years, too early into Beacon not just because of her skills and talents. But because of her Silver Eyes. While Jaune cheated his way into the academy by forging those transcripts. Ozpin probably knew they were fake from the start but he decided to let Jaune enter Beacon, anyway. I can't tell if what he did was because he saw great potential in the two of them or because he was just desperate to find something that will give him an edge in this secret war of his. Probably both. Then again, we know what happened the last time he did this. It resulted in the death of Gretchen and prompted her older brother Hazel to join Salem in order to seek revenge.
@@kidprime6863 I hate to admit it, but you're right! Even if Blake said something meaningful, it wouldn't matter! Because Ruby was broken to the point where empty words of encouragement will have no effect on her! Even if Blake meant every word! I meant what I said a long time ago when I said 'The Perils of Paper Houses' had one of the most depressing endings the shows' had in years! Jaune is facing the weight of all his shortcomings and failures, and Ruby FINALLY snaps and has her meltdown and takes it out on her friends and her confidence was at the bottom of the sea! And all of it caused by the Papers drowning in a flood of their own making! And Ruby abandoned Jaune, Weiss, Blake and Yang at the flooded Paper Pleasers' Village! And worst of all Neo is still out there, hunting for Ruby! And that's not even half as bad as the next episode! Ruby was indeed inspired by tales of Remnant's greatest Fairy Tales and stories of her own Mother's heroics! I have no doubt in my mind that Summer Rose really was 'Super Mom'. But she was still as human as you and I! She made mistakes and probably did things she wished she could take back! Regardless she loved Tai, Ruby and Yang with all her heart! Even to the point of telling her girls "I love you, just the way you are!" If that's not a Mother's love, I don't know what is! But like you said; all those stories were romanticized and Summer was capable of making mistakes like anybody else. Such as telling no one where she's really going and teaming up with her ex-partner/ex-friend Raven Branwen! I bet that was a terrible mistake(I wouldn't be surprised at all if their mission was recon against Salem to learn her weakness, and how to destroy her! And Raven abandoned Summer the moment it went south)! But still the Blacksmith tried to show Ruby her Mom was as human as she is, and was by no means perfect! Meaning she didn't have to live up to an impossible standard, especially since her Mother too had the same burdens as her daughter, and felt the weight of expectations and the world on her shoulders! Like you said she's not Supergirl! Same goes for Jaune! He wanted to be a hero like his Dad and his ancestors from the Great War. But he put way too much burden on himself as well! Pyrrha taught him there's nothing wrong with asking friends for help! A lesson he needed to relearn in Volume 9! Along with letting go of his failures, like Ruby did! Honestly I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest either if Ozpin knew about the fake transcripts all along and chose to ignore them, because he saw potential in the boy! Neither Ruby or Jaune asked to be leaders, and neither were yet ready for the responsibilities that come with it(I wouldn't be surprised if everybody thought Weiss and Pyrrha were going to be the leaders of Teams' RWBY and JNPR)! Nobodies perfect, and Volume 9 taught us all that! During the 'Best Food Fight Ever, of all time' Ozpin even allowed them to play the role of kids a little longer since "It's not a role they'll have forever!" Because he knew that things were only going to get harder for them going forward! Personally, I too think Ozpin allowed both Ruby and Jaune into Beacon Academy because 1) He saw potential in both of them and believed in them, and 2) He believed they could help him win this Endless War against Salem! Especially since Ruby & Jaune showed time and again they're natural born leaders, very brave and very creative! Like I said before: Nobody is Perfect! Ruby needed to learn that she needs to open up to others, and she doesn't need to live up to any unreasonably high expectations, or become someone she's not! The answer was right there in the mirror all along! Like the Kung Fu Panda Po once said; "There is no secret ingredient, It's just you!" Being a leader is a thing that is both learned and earned! Even Optimus Prime of Transformers didn't become a leader overnight! He earned it ten times over! In Transformers Prime alone he opposed Megatron's tyranny while he was still Orion Pax and earned the Matrix of Leadership when he found the Spark of Primus himself after trying to save Cybertron from Dark Energon Poisoning! Even at times when Optimus doubted himself, he still picked himself back up every single time! Ruby and Jaune picked themselves up, and earned the right to be leaders all over again! I'm proud of them for that!
The Paper Pleasers share the same initials as Penny Polendina, and when they say, "It's what they would have wanted," that was probably an emotional backhand straight to Juane's face

And he's gonna die. He has a dick, and the writers hate guys so we all know how that ends.
It’s like having an actual death from battle or a tragedy happen to him is too good of a release for him, it’s like for all the good he has done he has to suffer for it ten fold eventually until he just crumbles.
Rwby writer Kerry has said Juane was alone for 10-20 years so he is 29-39 years old
damn if that is true the grey hair would be another bad sign for Jaunes mental health.
@@irmiwolf it's true you hair can gray due to stress, so what's a few years of it can do to someone.
He looks older than that but maybe he just aged faster because of the stress. Or maybe the two suns age you twice as fast. It’s funny because people have the same question about how Obi-Wan got so old in a few years. 😂
Obi wans makes sense living on a desert planet with 2 suns and being stressed about watching the chosen ones son man
I'm 31 and getting gray in my beard. Makes sense to me haha
Amen to that
Agreed
Completely agree
I’m getting Guts vibes from looking at Jaune’s suffering… I’m gonna cue the Gut’s sad theme whenever I see Dilf Jaune depressed 😢
Damn i was thinking the same thing too bro really just keeps on struggling
I think even if they are reborn, maybe some semblance of their old selves will remain. They might actually keep the names Jaune gave them. Showing that his mark is still there. That his efforts were not truly in vain.
Thanks, I needed to cry today 🥲👌
That would make me cry honestly, tears of joy and sadness
Ever since Pyrrha died he’s been suffering
@@mariapazgonzalezlesme With a decent chance Ozpin was Luis he might know very well.
Indeed
Hope the story plays put like this. It hurts seeing Jaune suffer so
@@thundermuffin71
Can only hope, but I have a feeling it won’t happen like that.
So… dark thought: the Paper Pleasers were put there to give Jaune purpose in an attempt to trap him in the cycle of ascension
They gave him purpose (something the Everafter assigns all Afterins and reassigns to them as it sees fit) and in their inevitable demise he’d probably snap to the point he’d take the tree up on its offer and be remade and by extension bound to the world somehow
I doubt it, but that is an interesting thought.
I'll do you on better that seems super Far Fetch.
Ruby is essentially going to be the one that causes Jaune to "Ascend."
Only reason I'm saying is because as of this point the words they had shared seems to long to recover from what I see this season,
So why not an accidental death,
Either by a fight with Neo or with each other,
And that will also be another cause for the team to have another reason to go to the tree at that point, to see if there is a way to "Ascend" him since he did become the rusted knight and all
But to get jaune back.
You've mentioned this before in another video, but it is a real thing people deal with, especially those exposed to trauma, and it certainly feels that way: EA!Jaune isn't written like a matured Jaune, he's written like he's worn down
Honestly, Jaune is reminding me way too much of Volume 6 Qrow.
Many times and in my own experience of how people act to me. Being worn down is often mistaken for “maturity”
Well it’s also bc he’s had years to process everything. While Ruby has only had a few days. He’s just taking his frustration out on her which is understandable. Especially since she was making fun of him.
@@ventustbb3229 Years of solitude without anybody to actually confide with is not the same as "Processing" his experience.
@@coffeeismyfuel619 Except he wasn’t completely alone. He didn’t know anyone there, but he wasn’t completely alone. So it wasn’t solitude. I’m a little confused about that. Bc he’s acting like he was in solitude.
Ruby has suffered a lot, but Jaune has so much suffering he was prisoner of being a make believe hero to Alyx and Louis and then the Paper Pleasers

Do we just go home?

- Let's Just Live
This certainly has become increasingly unfair for both Jaune and Ruby
If not for the Paper Pleasers then Jaune would have lost his mind decades ago and anger towards Ruby may have been because she's been acting EXACTLY like Alyx did
He did correct himself when Weiss spoke up
I fear Ruby will end up becoming like Alyx if things continue like this
@@brandonbrown3855 she basically has the same expressions as Alyx did in the flashbacks… and the reflection off the dagger
@@RurouniHiro oh crap I barely noticed that not to mention that makes even worst

Have you noticed that the Jabberwalker Illusions can talk, which means Neos other illuions might possible talk aswell. Maybe a Ruby or Cinder
Juniper was the one who brought Jaune to the Paper Pleaser's village.
Or neo
Yea, I mean, we’ve basically already seen all the scenes shown in the trailer. There’s only a couple dialogue left, one being where who we can presume is the blacksmith talking, ask “what if you could leave ruby rose behind….”
Problem is Jaune always has trouble forgiving himself. Something Ren and Nora both know.
@@arkdragon222 another good possibility though I don’t think Neo realizes who she pushed over the edge
I'm fairly new to RWBY but Jaune is my favourite character. However I see a lot of the fandom hates his guts so I'm expecting them to give in to fan demand again and kill him off. I definitely don't want that to happen.
OMG... What would happen if Jaune... Can no longer serve his "purpose" as the Rusted Knight much longer... And the tree comes for him?
Really enjoying your coverage of volume 9 so far! I haven't been watching it for reasons that I'm not saying or else people think I'm attacking them, but your videos on it have almost tempted me enough to get back into it! Keep doin what yer doin!
Edit: also nice shirt! Really cool!
I have various theories for Jaune:
1) Jaune's companion, Juniper, is a product of Jaune's evolved Semblance, created out of his loneliness.
The Fall of Atlas is like a Disease that they cannot get rid of especially Jaune and Ruby,Those two had better get some Closer by the end of V9.
Shocking right, they'd better. And hopefully such a lesson will yield its reward.
Jaune needs a breather. I love Jaune, but he (and Qrow) is used as a punching bag alot in RWBY.
To recap a little what I know from the top of my head:
- Subject of bullying (by Cardin).
@@kidprime6863 I hope everyone is caught up, cause the only one winning so far is the curious cat.
no matter what, Jaune have to stay alive after this volume.
@@samphadhavihara4035
😭 He's my favourite character though, I don't want to lose him
Jaune has been my favorite character for most of the series and I hate to see him like this, stuck in his own grief for probably 30+ years.
According to the RWBY aftershow Juane was there for 10-20 years
I'm still worried about the flames around Jaune in the opening because at the start of the episode i
Thought oh the paper pleaser village is going to go up in flames
Now we're back to either he is reforged by the blacksmith or he is killed damn it
CRWBY in they're roundtable video just confirmed on how long Jaune has been in the Ever After, 10 or 20 years he's been there. So he would at the age of 29 or 39 at the end of both his 20's or 30's. 20 years makes alot more sense then 10 years in my opinion about how he acted & have a bit white hair to it.
Stress can make you age fastee
I really Hope that jaune Will have happy life with ruby or weiss.
Me too! 😊❤
Hope neither happen
I don’t even want to think of Jaune being killed.

Man literally made his own hell a futile mission to protect the paper pleasers that he would eventually fail
Rwby knowing that Jaune killed Penny at the end whend they go see the tree to find the true end of the Alice story , Rwby whit range will offer Jaune to the tree to go back home and as broken and lonely He has been for 20-30 years , he will give up and die knowing his death will get the team back home
Jaune’s Story such has gone in a interesting turn, it’s going to be interesting to see how things will go, hopefully it’ll go fine, eventually.
That's what I'm thinking will happen in the next episode.

The most reaction we saw from her currently is.. defend her new gf instead of.. idk.. giving her a massive hug to let her know she isnt alone.
I never cared a lot for bumblebee but that single reaction by Yang made me despise it so much
@@Diabeanie that reaction right there is the reason why so many of us have *despised* that ship since volume 6.
Great video
I remember there was a theory that Jaune was actually the hero of the show.
What if Neo really fulfilled his revenge and killed Ruby? Jaune would use the fruit of time again to save her.
It’s a bit of a deus ex machina but I have wondered that myself
That would be a very interesting coming to full circling for the clock fruit
It would be tragic irony if the paper pleasers became rock ruiners/scissor searchers. Destroyers of nice and calm things on that acre or beings that take and/or salvage. Everything they worked on quickly remade into ruin
Poor Jaune.
Having a bunch of thirsty moms chasing after you can do wonders for your confidence. I really hope Jaune is able to shank Cinder before this is all over.
Same.
That’s the only reason I tolerate Cinder remaining alive.
@@esteemedmortal5917 Same here.
I mean atleast for jaune he dont give a fuck who or what you are as long as you fight along side him or be by his side you are considered a friend to him (i think thats what he said once)
I know thats kinda a stretch and was never intended but still its something to think about
From what I understood about her talking about the imaginary friends, is that it came from her feeling that her friends didn't seem to care as much when they found out that Penny died. They kept trying to move forward and when the PP passed away they instantly went over to Jaune to help him. This however could just be me misunderstanding the situation tho.
Why do I get the feeling that Jaune will save Ruby in that he prevents her from eliminating Neo as a problem permanently? Tells her that she does not want to become that person, turns her away and as Neo breathes a sigh of relief Jaune says "But I already am that person, because of you." -Slice-
He said it himself about Penny.
I’m surprised how accurate your predictions for the next episode were lol
Perhaps seeing Penny's blade will help Jaune start said healing process, part of it at least.
who ever it is that was remade as Juniper it should help with Jaune's state.
Lewis Carol was the author of Alice in wonderland
They likely will have some lingering feelings after all as Cat most Curious said something like they heart doesn't forget easily.
Like how the Red Prince had a lingering hatred for humans because of Alyx and suspicion as they said they heard from a friend he likes games even without knowing for sure they are humans humans have a very similar shape that we don't quite see from any ever afterians
The sacrifice thing would also go with Jaune's original Fairy tale inspiration Joan of Arc who willingly walked into fire for a greater good she saw in through her visions
11:30 Ruby is not going to die as she has plot immunity
Really Neo might be the one to die when Ruby stops holding back and shows what she is truly capable of as Ruby is a trained warrior from Qrow and huntsman academies whereas Neo has not
True. Plus she’s always held back in one way or another versus humans.
I feel like Ruby might accident kill or wound Neo.
Since she has a bunch of clones, Ruby might just slash through them all and accident kill Neo. Or something similar.
I see similarities between Jaune and Gabriel Belmont/Dracula form castlevania lords of shadow saga
"I was like you once... but your god showed me another path"
- Gabriel Belmont/Dracula
I hope rwby gets darker like in lords of shadow 2
@@kaistrange1672 i can see it now. Jaune as the prince of darkness like gabriel belmont and ruby will (maybe?) Be like trevor belmont. Dont know about Weiss, blake and yang though
I feel that saving the Paper Pleaser were his way for coping Panny death so that is why I think he was doing this everyday but now its gone. Jaune may think ascension work like the maidens power do one's they die the their soul gets transfer to another making them the new host and the old host soul is just the power for the new one with nothing left to connect them to the world or the people that they know.
This isn't Avatar rules

Course I made a scenario where he passes the test....and he would fail not only losing his life but becoming a specter bound to the Spirit of Chivalry.
chapter 8 is going to be intense at all levels
I can honestly see a small moment between Jaune & Weiss of comfort. Maybe she trims some of his hair & beard. They finally talk to one another about what happened on the bridge as a way of vocalizing their own issues & pain, They will need to take rests while looking for Ruby since the Ever After is quite vast & Ruby has incredible agility.
I Hope they Not Killed Jaune.
Yeah, no more deaths and no more sacrifices.
Don’t forget, he immediately regretted what he said and tried to apologize to Ruby about it
Not relevant to this video, but I just realized, Ruby flew into the direction where the jabberwalkers came to the paper city (the direction of Jaune's house).
Seriously, how is nobody asking why the door was at the tree in the first place?
Become a monster?
i honesly belive that the tree will find way for jaune or ruby to ascend
When am I going to matter enough to you as a friend and a sister, and not as your 'leader', to address the fact I can't keep going."
Ruby didn't accuse anyone of war crimes, maybe poor wording she wasn't able to address when interrupted during brunch to Weiss, or the elephant in the room that are the Bees.
That is part of Ruby's flaws:
1) As Leader, she must be strong, able and confident in front of her team and friends.
Thank you."
Her friends didn't mean to take her for granted but she didn't do herself any favors by waiting too long to talk to them.
I bet Blake would've said something to try and lift Ruby's spirit had she not told her to 'Shut up!'
I can't really blame Jaune either, keeping the Papers safe was probably the only thing holding him together and keeping him from becoming insane!
