There is no way. I get that people like Neo but she’s too far gone. Worse than Adam. She’s just a psychopath at this point, killing everyone in her way even destroying villages just to get to Ruby. She literally smiles when she’s about to kill people. There’s no realistic way in which she can come back from this. My guess is they’ll have to end Neo or her actions will cause this world to become destroyed and her with it.
(At 3:11) I would be surprised if Ruby "accidentally" did manifested something from all of her negativity building up there in the form of a monster. Maybe a giant… wolf?
That may be due to Jaune having more experience in the Ever After than team rwby. It's implied he's encountered the jabberwalker before when he points out there's only supposed to be one, so maybe he just knows it's weak point by now. Even though these jabberwalkers are copies made by Neo, its possible that they'd have the same weak spots as the original
Uh, he didn't tho, the one he struck first got left to the bees, the second was dealt with by Weiss' summon, the third was knocked into the stream by the summon and would be the one to attack Ruby, and the fourth was the combo when Weiss caught and threw his sword back to him.
I got a strange feeling that Ruby is gonna have a close call with "self deletion". Seeing as she took off with Crescent Rose. Idk why I'm thinking this, maybe I need help.
@@OathKeeperRiku07 it would fit seeing as he’s based on Jeanne of Arc, also might imply Ren would be the only member of JNPR to survive the series, since if memory serves he’s Mulan right? Phyrra was Achilles, and Nora is Thor. He’s the only member not based on a character who died as part of the their story/is known for how they were killed. Now just going off their inspiration isn’t exactly perfect since we’ve already seen characters diverge (the Tin-man lost his “heart”, the Cowardly Lion succumbed to his fear, and last I check Salem hasn’t been killed by a Bucket of Water, not yet at least) but Jaune dying/ascending would make me think maybe we should be worried about Nora.

Another theory would be that Ruby gets herself remade into Summer Rose. Thinking that this might be the only way for her to beat Salem is literally becoming like her mom. That will leave quite a shock for the audience and her team, especially Yang. I doubt that will happen tho but it would be crazy

Basically, Ruby would be so much in doubt she'd lose any means of fighting and Neo would want to know what's going on, and what happened to the girl her boss nicknamed "Little Red" who both put up a fight and was good being at nuisance.
I don't think Ruby herself will die as the show is named after her, but I do feel a major character death approaching, which may get ruby to keep pushing forward and keep fighting on. Hopefully, her and Neo come to blows but then realize they should not be fighting each other as they're both hurting, but because of Salem, not each other.

A thought I had about Jaune as the rusted knight… what if his true purpose in team rwbys story is to take them to the tree? Since he’s so set on avoiding it. Maybe finally accepting the fact that they need to go to the tree and make it there could be how he ascends. Ruby ascending though… I honestly feel like it’s gonna be death related. It could just be her “killing her old self” in a metaphorical way (I don’t want to see my baby actually dead even if it’s for a short time 😢). Also, what if Neo does try to take out Ruby but instead of her team or jaune stepping in to save her… it’s Summer 👀 just a thought. Love the theories so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for us!
i dont think the ever after will allow them to die. i think neo and ruby would be caught in a punderstorm. they will be forced to work through their issues
@@esteemedmortal5917 good thought, but I don't think the reflections work that way. The reflect what's weighing heavily in a person's mind it seems to me. Weiss saw Atlas grounded because she new it was falling as they were fighting in the portal crossroads from Atlas to Vaccuo, and it's something that is hurting her deeply. Jaune saw Penny, and his euthanasia on her is a heavy burden. He also saw his younger self, which I think is symbolizing his loss of innocence. In other words, it's not showing them anything they don't know about. Neo doesn't know what happened to Torchwick so she wouldn't see what really happened in the reflections.

had a thought: what if Neo, Jaune and Ruby all ascend? they're all having crises and might have lost their purposes according to the laws that govern EA while WBY had clear answers back at Herb's, a nice 3/3 split. i also still think that if ascension happens to a non-Afteran it doesn't work fully the same due to having a different interaction between body+heart+purpose so it's more of a Weird Vibe Shift possible order of events: Jaune lost his purpose along with the Paper Pleasers bc he subconsciously internalized protecting them as it or maybe he feels like he did bc he saw protecting in general as it, some sort of a "i'm not a hero, i can't protect anyone, what am i even good for" moment -> this line of thought activates the tree. idk when it gets to him Ruby might've actually gone from scared and paralyzed to mega pissed off mode when she yelled at everyone (case in point: picked up Crescent Rose herself and took off with it instead of being afraid of it) so it's not guaranteed that she'll be unable to fight. could go all out bc "screw everything actually who cares anymore i've already lost everything" might shoot Neo on accident i think, then realize what just happened and that would send her into the "i'm nothing i wanted/tried to be" tree activating line of thought. that could be a way to show how if you bottle your emotions up and then they explode out you are very likely to do things you never wanted to and can't take back, except with the rules of this different world allowing takebacksies - all the emotional impact (we're still not sure if non-Afterans ascend and how) with none of the plot implications of removing an important character! just want Ruby to have some more episodes where she doesn't have to be nice kind positive and want to see some repercussions happen and take a long time to be dealt with
My theory/ guess would be that Ruby would first reencounter the blacksmith, have crescent rose upgraded with the axe form. Then ventures off into the dark acre to face off with Neo for the final time. Neo would show surprise that Ruby is by herself but Ruby would just raise her weapon and utter ‘to the bitter end’ (want to say to the death, but I doubt that’ll be said). Their battle intensity is constantly increasing from each violent blow to each other, the others would find the battle location. Even if Ruby does get a sudden semblance evolution, their battle would probably end in a dead heat - no winner (similar to a Goku vs Vegeta fight) and BOTH of them beaten and broken to within an inch of their lives. Having come to the conclusion that they should’ve paid more attention to their leaders mental state and need to make major amends, the rest of team RWBY arrive to find the carnage of the fight aftermath and Ruby’s condition. They pick up Ruby, Jaune uses his semblance to start the healing process, however Neo gets up again in her battered condition, but Jaune yells to the others to go, then he and Neo fight to the death with both of them losing, thus acting as the sacrifice needed for Team RWBY to escape. Team RWBY then arrive at the base of the tree, after waiting for Ruby to awaken, despite her reservations they begin to ascend the top of the tree. I do have other guesses would might happen when they reach the tree, but I’ll save them for next video.
That would be amusing. The Jabberwalker is kind of her slave right now after she beat the tar out of it and uses it to make clones, so it could just be waiting for its chance at revenge then eats her when she's vulnerably, likely right as she's about to finish off Ruby. Perfect mirror to Torchwick, both had their enemy at their mercy, then both suddenly die because fate itself conspired to save Ruby once again.
They literally can't kill Blake or Yang or else they'll fulfill the 'killing your gays' trope and the internet will 100% erupt into unholy flames. There's no way RT will survive that public backlash, especially given how fucking long it took for Bumbleby to become canon, only to kill it in 1-3 episodes, lol. I don't even care about Bumbleby, but if they have the balls to do that actually? I'll take back every bad thing I ever said about RT.
How about Neo stabs Ruby to death as the others reach them, but Jaune jumps over to Ruby's side to heal her. The two have their heart-to-heart while WBY fights Neo to protect them. Neo will die from an amped Ruby.
I love this idea so much, but also good luck to Jaune with those flashbacks of Penny. Like, Ruby lying on the ground with a stab wound and him having to heal her while Weis and the others fend off the enemy? Sounds so familiar XD But seriously I do think a scene like that would be AMAZING. Jaune and Ruby could have a little heart to heart while Jaune is begging to the universe to just let him save her, for her to hold on… yeah that’s the good stuff.

Perhaps one single eye, and maybe that close call/recovering could help her pull herself out of her funk. Also there’s the old trope of loosing an eye somehow granting some insight, maybe loosing her eye in the Ever After could help her figure out some stuff, like maybe how to deal with Salem? Though personally I’m starting to wonder if ultimately they wouldn’t try trapping Salem in the Ever After (even if it would only work temporarily, for however long it does work they could use the chance to regroup on Remnant with out her messing with things). What little we know so far seems to imply a human leaving the Ever After requires sacrifice, and seeing as either Alyx used her Luis to get out, or alternatively Luis used Alyx, well, if a person is trapped alone, not much they could do to leave could they (side note, considering who Jaune is based on, wouldn’t surprise me if the ultimate stab to the gut is the only way for RWBY to leave is he sacrifices himself/ascends)
I'd think Cinder or Tyrian would do that given that exchange between Tyrian and Cinder about "an eye for an eye", especially as Cinder isn't allowed to kill Ruby so she might actually have a reason to leave her alive but maimed.
I was listening to the Volume 7 opening and something caught my attention, and I think all this ever after saga may end in a much lighter mood, even if it doesn't look right now. Here is the part of the lyrics that got my attention.: Right now your *hopes are shattered* (Shattered) Just pointless *ever after* But in time you'll find, through *love, your power just shines* I don't know, maybe I'm reading to much into it, but I can't take that of my mind now.
I feel like there's going to be a copout in the form of Juniper dying, protecting Jaune. Like, Ruby's getting attacked and seeing Jaune running forward to take the killing blow to save her, Juniper might get there ahead of him and take it instead. It'll be another, very sad L for Jaune, since while Juniper can come back because he's a resident of the Ever After, he won't remember Jaune and all the time they've spent together.
Honestly, i got a feeling ruby will be gunning for neo and see her go full john wick. In her current emotional state, she would need to vent somehow and we would get a scene similar to the first red trailer
I think Jaune is likeliest to die unfortunately. Also, while it hasn’t been exactly the same, they are following beats of Alyx’s story, with Ruby as Alyx’s stand in. In the real adventure, Alyx poisoned Jaune to get rid of him, but the story says the Rusted Knight took the poison in Alyx’ stead. What if the story beat they follow has Jaune actually take a killing blow meant for Ruby next?
My thoughts on character deaths are that it would either be Jaune or Neo. Neo through some story with Ruby, maybe ending the contention between them. Jaune because of the acension so he could go back to who he was when he was him to put it in the words of the anime. Those are my thoughts. Have a good day.

I really hope that if someone dies they aren't reborn, especially Jaune or Ruby because if they are remade without the tramatic memories and they improve, it just feels like the writers couldn't figure out how to have a character learn from their trauma and improve from it
I think if anyone were to die, or just not leave the Ever After this volume it would most likely be Neo. She may die as a consequence for her own actions (maybe to the jabberwalker as you said), or maybe she'd choose to stay and surround herself with her walking talking illusions, which would play into the mad hatter parallels seen in the intro. Either way, I don't see Neo making it out of the Ever After, and I think it would make the most sense for her to stay/die out of any of the characters. She definitely will try to kill Ruby first though, that much is clear
Another thought I had, which at this point is a bit unlikely, but I’ll share it anyway: for most of volume 9, I’ve had this idea of Ruby interacting with the Ever After and creating a bubble around herself. Kinda like Mabel in Gravity Falls, when she has that prison bubble where everything is seemingly her vision of “perfect”, but it’s actually just her escaping reality. Because Ruby has been through so much, she doesn’t want to face it, she just wants a break- she NEEDS a break. And the others would have to convince her to come back to reality, even though it’s pretty awful. So idek where it would have fit in (and at this point it probably won’t) but I just love that idea and think about it a lot.
Considering how RT loves to end things on a cliffhanger killing one of the main characters at the end of the volume is likely. They might try to do like the end of Avatar when it ends with that character opening their eyes. Since we're suppose to be in wonderland another likely thing is that Neo captures Ruby then we have a "tea party" where Neo tries to break her before she tries to kill her.
I don’t think the main characters are gonna die in Volume 9. It just seems too soon to me. But Ruby is on the edge, that’s for sure. Maybe Neo and Ruby will duke it out in the Ever After, but I don’t think Ruby is going to die. I just think that Neo will either be left behind, or vice versa. But I think that when team RWBY comes back to Remnant, the stakes will be higher. Since the last relic that’s known to be found in Vacuo is attainable-either by Salem’s hands, or RWBY and the gang. The last relic that’s not found is certainly puzzling. Where is it? Ozpin certainly knows, just won’t tell…
Throughout this whole arc of Neo wanting to kill Ruby to avenge Roman, I keep coming back to the same question. How could Neo possibly believe that Ruby was even capable of defeating Roman in combat? Because at the time Roman was a much better fighter than Ruby. She had already lost Crescent Rose and there was no way that Roman was letting her get that back. Ruby had no hope against Roman. We all saw how easily he was defeating her.
Ascension basically replaces you with a slightly different character. I don't think they'll do that to the title character, I'm expecting Ruby to maybe try and let Neo kill her, then for WBY and Jaune to catch up and either jaune dies, neo gets talked down or both.
I don't remember the exact quote, but it's something like "If you want revenge, be ready to dig two graves" which is to say, I think Neo might die in her pursuit of revenge

What's hard to imagine is the emotional impact it would have on either Jaune or Ruby. Both are already at the lowest they have ever been with Jaune living with years of guilt and loss and Ruby with years worth of trauma experienced in just days. If either saw the other sacrificed, it would just be the final straw to their mental state.
I think the jabberwalkers existance might also be preparing for the curious cat to sacrifice himself for jaune. that would give jaune a reconsideration of his trust, maybe give more hope, and would be the most meaningful, considering the cat knows better than everyone what jabberwalker means
I really hope the tree isn't death and if someone do has to be ascension it will be Jaune for one reason. I had this idea while Phoenix was talking in this discussion if ascension does work on people than when Jaune returns home he not only has his young age back but I think he end up like Roxas from Kingdom Hearts game. Salem finds him and uses Jaune or whatever he may be calls him next Volume to get the next Relic or use as a spy.
Could the Jaberwalker be one of Salems silver eyed warrior/Grim creations that has fallen to the ever after somehow?? Could Neo ascend and revert back to her other (Trivia Vannel?? from the book??). If all three Ascend through death, John will meet Pyrrha or Penny, Neo will meet Torchwick and Ruby will meet Summer... if we see an ascendant sequence... either way, I don't see them wrapping up the EverAfter arc in the remaining shows.
Man this is getting some volume 3 flashback. All started with penny's death then everything turns to hell and it went from amber (a half fall maiden),ozpin (a headmaster) ,roman and pyrrha dying. Now volume 7-9 is something similar. Many players has died but the ones im focusing on is penny again (with the winter maidens powers), ironwood (a general and headmaster) so if this is going somewhere similar to volume 3 then it will be neo that will die trying to kill ruby and jaune that will die either to save ruby or help them escape from the ever after.
I can see that happen I honestly just want everyone to be happy after all Neo is gonna find out that Ruby didn’t kill Roman and killing Ruby is obviously not gonna make that go away
The one thing that makes me hesitant to think Ruby will "ascend" is that the bits we've heard about ascension in the Ever After don't seem to line up with the sort of introspective healing and character development that I think Ruby needs. The way we've seen ascension described, it seems to be more compulsory and with little agency for the being that is ascending and then returning. It could be that we simply learn something new about it that addresses that issue, though. My money would be on Jaune, in large part because it would be a logical way to address the extra time he's spent in the Ever After. Ascension would make sense for him if it lets him "reset" to his original age, physically at least, and possibly with some of his memories from the Ever After removed as well.
When you mentioned the black Smith in this and how ruby or jaune could assend it made me have a thought about a previous video you made. When it shows alyxs blade rwby first sees it as penny's what if Lewis was remade as pietro and came out of the everafter much later than alyx. We've seen that semblances can be genetic and he now looks at the world in a different way which is why he is a great inventor.
I think it would be Neo if anyone. 1. Following the beats in the opening song, it looks like Ruby gets back to who she is as she is leading her team up the tree towards the end. 2. I don't think it's likely that the writers are going to kill off Jaune at this moment. Just seems a bit off. 3. The fact that we know nothing about what is going on in Vacuo makes me think the season will end with the team getting there right at the end of this season. I don't think the writers would stretch out Ever After into a second season. Basically I think there will be a confrontation with Neo in episode 8, some set up with the tree in ep 9, and actually going through the tree in ep 10.
If we talking about who’s death would have the greatest impact, it would be Jaune. He has gone through so much struggles, especially self inflicted ones, that he may just sacrifice his life in order to save one life.
I had a thought about what the Cat said about Ascension. After Jaune said that when that happens, it takes your memories and makes you something else. Then the Cat said that that won't happen to them. What if he meant that they won't lose their memories and become something else? What if that they're simple remade into a brand new body with all their memories and skills? Like if Jaune is killed, he is reborn into his younger body with all his memories intact? Do you think that is what the Cat meant?

I think that Ruby will ascend and that she will ascend to the character that we saw in the reflection of the weapon in episode 5. When someone ascends, they ascend to the person that they wanted to be when they were still there. It gave me the idea that Ruby wants to be the “hero in the fairytales.” She wants to be like her mom. If she ascends, she will become someone similar to her mother. So perhaps her weapon will also change to be a weapon similar to her mother. EDIT: SURELY MY THEORY WILL BE RIGHT FOR THE FINALE AFTER WHAT HAPPENED IN EPISODE 9
To be completely honest I think Jaune will be the one to die by sacrificing himself to save Ruby from Neo finally succeeding in doing what he has wanted to do since Pyrrah died which is to save someone after all he is by his own admission not all right and thus being able to do just that would allow him to die in peace, now whether or not he will be revived is another story all together.
I have a crazy idea that if V10 continues in the ever after. Ruby and Neo will end up exploring the rest together either willingly or Ruby held prisoner. WBY and Jaune will do the same but searching for Ruby. By the end Neo will probably die or ascend while the heros escape and probably end up in Beacon because magic
What I think is that Ruby will eventually come to realize how much she pushed away everyone or something similar to that, and I think either Jaune or Neo will be reborn. If its Neo, then she will probably become more like Trivia when she was younger. If it's Jaune, then.. I dont know..
Ok, this is a tangent, but the Under the Veil album by Ok Goodnight, even tho is 100% unrelated to RWBY, the lyrics seems to fit a lot of what we saw in this today's episode and what we'll see in the last two (My guess is as good as anyone's). PS.: I only say this because the composers for Ok Goodnight are now composing for RWBY, and they did compose for volume 9 (And the vocalist has been singing every single opening of the show since volume 1 alongside her dad)
Oh god I just realized something sad that they could do with this. Ruby is so depressed and so held back by everything that the only way she could actually get over this trauma is to get ascended and reborn so that she doesn't remember ANYTHING from the previous books. That way, she's stuck with a clean slate and a restarted mind, but the rest of team RWBY know how to handle her and get her back on track.
Ruby rose is not going to die in the ever after or neo she is going to talk to neo and tell her she did not kill Roman torchwick and get out of the everafter
I honestly think it would be the other way around, Ruby killing Neo (ascension) in some way involving a new ability/escape from the Ever After for Ruby, plus, the Ever After so far has seemed to confront and interact with people’s emotions, so I 100% believe that Neo and Ruby’s argument will conclude before everyone leaves the Ever After
@@rileyduncan3927 I think the blacksmith is definitely at least the one that carries out the work of remaking ascended beings, whether the blacksmith is the tree's will or not, I'm not sure, though it's definitely possible.
What if when about to kill Ruby or Ruby about to die Jaune’s semblance evolves to either be able to project (Vine did ask Jaune’s during training have you thought about projecting your aura out), use a form of telekinesis (to represent Pyrrha’s semblance) or he able to reverse damages that his friends take and give it back to the person who hurt/injury his friends in the first place?
If anyone’s not making it out of this volume alive, it’s Neo. She is completely obsessed with her revenge to the point that even in another world all she cares about is killing Ruby. If she doesn’t let go of that anger (and at this point I don’t see that happening) she is going to die. If anything, her new powers are a death flag. She becomes much stronger in the Ever After and probably goes a bit crazy with power, so the only way to stop her is to end her once and for all. Additionally, unless ascending works differently for Remnant Folk than it does for Afterans, I don’t see anyone of RWBYJ ascending, since that would erase who they used to be and effectively replacing them, making everything they’ve done and been through for the last 9 volumes mean nothing. I think it’ll be used as a threat or temptation to make us worried that they *will* ascend, but unless new info comes to light about how it’ll affect them, I don’t see it happening
Sorry, can't quite follow. Neo just has set herself a goal, that has nothing to do with obsession. Just because they are in another world means nothing. RWBY are still thinking about Salem, too. What does that say about them? Especially since Neo's target - Ruby - is in the same world while Salem is not. Roman was the only friend of hers. She only needs new friends on top of accepting that Ruby didn't kill Roman.

She has, at this point, played a major role in the fall of Beacon and the kingdom of Atlas, and shows absolutely no remorse for that fact. She just wants to kill Ruby, and doesn’t care who she hurts along the way. She can’t be trusted.

And all Roman did was to steal dust and the attack on that underground city - and remember that this wasn't even fully by his choice, but enforced by Cinder. At Atlas she did play a bigger role, yes. Still a support-role though. And she doesn't care who she hurts along the way? Who did she kill so far? She did try to kill Yang - to protect Roman. When she stole the relic from ONRJ, she could've tried to kill some of them. Never tried. At the end of V8, only Cinder just attacked everyone. Neo only attacked the ally's of her target.

And both he and Neo are having the time of their lives throughout all this. Sure Cinder probably strong armed him into working for her, but she didn’t make him enjoy the things he did. That was all him, and the same is true for Neo. And Neo didn’t just ‘play a support role’. She stole the Lamp, attacking Oscar in the process, aided in damaging Amity before Ruby’s full message could be sent out, gave the lamp to Cinder, who then used it to learn team RWBY’s plans to evacuate Mantle and Atlas, infiltrated Atlas HQ, and partook in the massacre of the control room personnel. Neo is a psychopath who doesn’t care one bit about who gets hurt so long as she gets what she wants. It is *canon* that she and Roman both enjoy causing mayhem and inflicting pain for no other reason than they can. The only reason people like her is because she’s a ‘quirky’ attractive character.

Neo definitely seems like the one who'd make the most sense to kill. Ruby, as our main character, would just be an odd choice unless the point is to have her ascend. Jaune is in a similar boat as Ruby. He has all this juicy angst over Penny, and I don't think you'd get more value by killing him vs. keeping him around to go through this pain and grow from it. Same as Ruby, either keep him alive or kill him so he can ascend. Weiss, Blake, and Yang just don't seem like good fits to die. I can't think of any benefit to the narrative by killing them off vs. If they survived. Neo, however, has every reason to be killed. Her core and only motivation right now is to kill Ruby, so assuming she attempts that this volume in a dramatic scene, she'll have worn through her only reason for still existing. Regardless of if she succeeds or not, Neo will now just not have anything interesting left to explore, and her death would be the easiest way to remove her. Especially if they have Ruby do it in self-defense. This would be her first kill of another human and could be an interesting bonding moment if Yang and Blake try to comfort Ruby since they did the same to Adam. If Neo were to survive, I don't think you'd gain much. She'd just continue to hate Ruby, and we already have Cinder for that, and due to her dynamic with Salem, she's arguably a more compelling character.
I hope Neo doesn't kill anyone. Or at least not consider killing Ruby anymore. Not if she can come at an impasse with Ruby after seeing her not worth it.
Neo is a fool. Killing Ruby won't change anything. It won't make the pain go away nor would it bring Roman back. The only thing it'll accomplish is Neo becoming something far worse. To quote Bruce Wayne from Batman Forever: "But the pain doesn't die with Ruby, it grows. Until one terrible morning, you wake and realize revenge has become your whole life." The only way the pain can go away is for Neo to spare Ruby and give her a chance to hear her side of the story about Roman's death and accept it as just a cruel twist of fate. This might even benefit Ruby because it'll teach her a lesson in humility and mercy. Not everyone who worked for Salem and/or Cinder was evil from the start. If they can give Emerald a chance, they can give Neo a chance, right? Lastly, I hope neither of them die. Especially Jaune. I'll damned if he abandons Ren and Nora. Death would only help him escape from dealing with the trauma not get rid of it. I hate to say it but "What would Pyrrha and Penny think of it?"

Any ideas on why only Neo's semblance is powered up? Why not any of the rest of them? Or do you think that maybe they already have powered up semblances and just don't know how to use them past their original potential? There is no way. I get that people like Neo but she’s too far gone. Worse than Adam. She’s just a psychopath at this point, killing everyone in her way even destroying villages just to get to Ruby. She literally smiles when she’s about to kill people. There’s no realistic way in which she can come back from this. My guess is they’ll have to end Neo or her actions will cause this world to become destroyed and her with it.

That may be due to Jaune having more experience in the Ever After than team rwby. It's implied he's encountered the jabberwalker before when he points out there's only supposed to be one, so maybe he just knows it's weak point by now. Even though these jabberwalkers are copies made by Neo, its possible that they'd have the same weak spots as the original
Physically he's always been really strong. So Adult Jaune would not doubt be physically stronger than all of them.
Uh, he didn't tho, the one he struck first got left to the bees, the second was dealt with by Weiss' summon, the third was knocked into the stream by the summon and would be the one to attack Ruby, and the fourth was the combo when Weiss caught and threw his sword back to him.

Phyrra was Achilles, and Nora is Thor. He’s the only member not based on a character who died as part of the their story/is known for how they were killed. Now just going off their inspiration isn’t exactly perfect since we’ve already seen characters diverge (the Tin-man lost his “heart”, the Cowardly Lion succumbed to his fear, and last I check Salem hasn’t been killed by a Bucket of Water, not yet at least) but Jaune dying/ascending would make me think maybe we should be worried about Nora.

I don't think Ruby herself will die as the show is named after her, but I do feel a major character death approaching, which may get ruby to keep pushing forward and keep fighting on. Hopefully, her and Neo come to blows but then realize they should not be fighting each other as they're both hurting, but because of Salem, not each other.

A thought I had about Jaune as the rusted knight… what if his true purpose in team rwbys story is to take them to the tree? Since he’s so set on avoiding it. Maybe finally accepting the fact that they need to go to the tree and make it there could be how he ascends. Ruby ascending though… I honestly feel like it’s gonna be death related. It could just be her “killing her old self” in a metaphorical way (I don’t want to see my baby actually dead even if it’s for a short time 😢).

Weiss saw Atlas grounded because she new it was falling as they were fighting in the portal crossroads from Atlas to Vaccuo, and it's something that is hurting her deeply. Jaune saw Penny, and his euthanasia on her is a heavy burden. He also saw his younger self, which I think is symbolizing his loss of innocence. In other words, it's not showing them anything they don't know about. Neo doesn't know what happened to Torchwick so she wouldn't see what really happened in the reflections.

Ruby might've actually gone from scared and paralyzed to mega pissed off mode when she yelled at everyone (case in point: picked up Crescent Rose herself and took off with it instead of being afraid of it) so it's not guaranteed that she'll be unable to fight. could go all out bc "screw everything actually who cares anymore i've already lost everything" might shoot Neo on accident i think, then realize what just happened and that would send her into the "i'm nothing i wanted/tried to be" tree activating line of thought. that could be a way to show how if you bottle your emotions up and then they explode out you are very likely to do things you never wanted to and can't take back, except with the rules of this different world allowing takebacksies - all the emotional impact (we're still not sure if non-Afterans ascend and how) with none of the plot implications of removing an important character!
just want Ruby to have some more episodes where she doesn't have to be nice kind positive and want to see some repercussions happen and take a long time to be dealt with
My theory/ guess would be that Ruby would first reencounter the blacksmith, have crescent rose upgraded with the axe form. Then ventures off into the dark acre to face off with Neo for the final time. Neo would show surprise that Ruby is by herself but Ruby would just raise her weapon and utter ‘to the bitter end’ (want to say to the death, but I doubt that’ll be said).
Their battle intensity is constantly increasing from each violent blow to each other, the others would find the battle location. Even if Ruby does get a sudden semblance evolution, their battle would probably end in a dead heat - no winner (similar to a Goku vs Vegeta fight) and BOTH of them beaten and broken to within an inch of their lives.
Having come to the conclusion that they should’ve paid more attention to their leaders mental state and need to make major amends, the rest of team RWBY arrive to find the carnage of the fight aftermath and Ruby’s condition.
They pick up Ruby, Jaune uses his semblance to start the healing process, however Neo gets up again in her battered condition, but Jaune yells to the others to go, then he and Neo fight to the death with both of them losing, thus acting as the sacrifice needed for Team RWBY to escape.
Team RWBY then arrive at the base of the tree, after waiting for Ruby to awaken, despite her reservations they begin to ascend the top of the tree.
I do have other guesses would might happen when they reach the tree, but I’ll save them for next video.
Also, Neo getting eaten by the Jabberwalker would be poetic given Roman’s demise.
That would be amusing. The Jabberwalker is kind of her slave right now after she beat the tar out of it and uses it to make clones, so it could just be waiting for its chance at revenge then eats her when she's vulnerably, likely right as she's about to finish off Ruby. Perfect mirror to Torchwick, both had their enemy at their mercy, then both suddenly die because fate itself conspired to save Ruby once again.

I love this idea so much, but also good luck to Jaune with those flashbacks of Penny. Like, Ruby lying on the ground with a stab wound and him having to heal her while Weis and the others fend off the enemy? Sounds so familiar XD
But seriously I do think a scene like that would be AMAZING. Jaune and Ruby could have a little heart to heart while Jaune is begging to the universe to just let him save her, for her to hold on… yeah that’s the good stuff.

Perhaps one single eye, and maybe that close call/recovering could help her pull herself out of her funk. Also there’s the old trope of loosing an eye somehow granting some insight, maybe loosing her eye in the Ever After could help her figure out some stuff, like maybe how to deal with Salem? Though personally I’m starting to wonder if ultimately they wouldn’t try trapping Salem in the Ever After (even if it would only work temporarily, for however long it does work they could use the chance to regroup on Remnant with out her messing with things). What little we know so far seems to imply a human leaving the Ever After requires sacrifice, and seeing as either Alyx used her Luis to get out, or alternatively Luis used Alyx, well, if a person is trapped alone, not much they could do to leave could they (side note, considering who Jaune is based on, wouldn’t surprise me if the ultimate stab to the gut is the only way for RWBY to leave is he sacrifices himself/ascends)
Losing an eye would be akin to Odin losing his eye in requirement of obtaining wisdom.
I'd think Cinder or Tyrian would do that given that exchange between Tyrian and Cinder about "an eye for an eye", especially as Cinder isn't allowed to kill Ruby so she might actually have a reason to leave her alive but maimed.

I feel like there's going to be a copout in the form of Juniper dying, protecting Jaune. Like, Ruby's getting attacked and seeing Jaune running forward to take the killing blow to save her, Juniper might get there ahead of him and take it instead. It'll be another, very sad L for Jaune, since while Juniper can come back because he's a resident of the Ever After, he won't remember Jaune and all the time they've spent together.
Honestly, i got a feeling ruby will be gunning for neo and see her go full john wick. In her current emotional state, she would need to vent somehow and we would get a scene similar to the first red trailer
I think Jaune is likeliest to die unfortunately. Also, while it hasn’t been exactly the same, they are following beats of Alyx’s story, with Ruby as Alyx’s stand in. In the real adventure, Alyx poisoned Jaune to get rid of him, but the story says the Rusted Knight took the poison in Alyx’ stead. What if the story beat they follow has Jaune actually take a killing blow meant for Ruby next?
My thoughts on character deaths are that it would either be Jaune or Neo.
Neo through some story with Ruby, maybe ending the contention between them. Jaune because of the acension so he could go back to who he was when he was him to put it in the words of the anime.

I think if anyone were to die, or just not leave the Ever After this volume it would most likely be Neo. She may die as a consequence for her own actions (maybe to the jabberwalker as you said), or maybe she'd choose to stay and surround herself with her walking talking illusions, which would play into the mad hatter parallels seen in the intro. Either way, I don't see Neo making it out of the Ever After, and I think it would make the most sense for her to stay/die out of any of the characters.

Another thought I had, which at this point is a bit unlikely, but I’ll share it anyway: for most of volume 9, I’ve had this idea of Ruby interacting with the Ever After and creating a bubble around herself. Kinda like Mabel in Gravity Falls, when she has that prison bubble where everything is seemingly her vision of “perfect”, but it’s actually just her escaping reality. Because Ruby has been through so much, she doesn’t want to face it, she just wants a break- she NEEDS a break. And the others would have to convince her to come back to reality, even though it’s pretty awful. So idek where it would have fit in (and at this point it probably won’t) but I just love that idea and think about it a lot.

Considering how RT loves to end things on a cliffhanger killing one of the main characters at the end of the volume is likely. They might try to do like the end of Avatar when it ends with that character opening their eyes. Since we're suppose to be in wonderland another likely thing is that Neo captures Ruby then we have a "tea party" where Neo tries to break her before she tries to kill her.
I don’t think the main characters are gonna die in Volume 9. It just seems too soon to me. But Ruby is on the edge, that’s for sure. Maybe Neo and Ruby will duke it out in the Ever After, but I don’t think Ruby is going to die. I just think that Neo will either be left behind, or vice versa.
But I think that when team RWBY comes back to Remnant, the stakes will be higher. Since the last relic that’s known to be found in Vacuo is attainable-either by Salem’s hands, or RWBY and the gang. The last relic that’s not found is certainly puzzling. Where is it? Ozpin certainly knows, just won’t tell…

Throughout this whole arc of Neo wanting to kill Ruby to avenge Roman, I keep coming back to the same question. How could Neo possibly believe that Ruby was even capable of defeating Roman in combat? Because at the time Roman was a much better fighter than Ruby. She had already lost Crescent Rose and there was no way that Roman was letting her get that back. Ruby had no hope against Roman. We all saw how easily he was defeating her.
Ascension basically replaces you with a slightly different character. I don't think they'll do that to the title character, I'm expecting Ruby to maybe try and let Neo kill her, then for WBY and Jaune to catch up and either jaune dies, neo gets talked down or both.

What's hard to imagine is the emotional impact it would have on either Jaune or Ruby. Both are already at the lowest they have ever been with Jaune living with years of guilt and loss and Ruby with years worth of trauma experienced in just days. If either saw the other sacrificed, it would just be the final straw to their mental state.
I think the jabberwalkers existance might also be preparing for the curious cat to sacrifice himself for jaune. that would give jaune a reconsideration of his trust, maybe give more hope, and would be the most meaningful, considering the cat knows better than everyone what jabberwalker means
I think deep down we all know who is going to take the shot to save Ruby.
I really hope the tree isn't death and if someone do has to be ascension it will be Jaune for one reason. I had this idea while Phoenix was talking in this discussion if ascension does work on people than when Jaune returns home he not only has his young age back but I think he end up like Roxas from Kingdom Hearts game. Salem finds him and uses Jaune or whatever he may be calls him next Volume to get the next Relic or use as a spy.
I think Ruby needs to have a solo arc moment. Maybe she comes across Neo and they get into a fight. Leaving on of them close to death

Could the Jaberwalker be one of Salems silver eyed warrior/Grim creations that has fallen to the ever after somehow?? Could Neo ascend and revert back to her other (Trivia Vannel?? from the book??). If all three Ascend through death, John will meet Pyrrha or Penny, Neo will meet Torchwick and Ruby will meet Summer... if we see an ascendant sequence... either way, I don't see them wrapping up the EverAfter arc in the remaining shows.

Man this is getting some volume 3 flashback. All started with penny's death then everything turns to hell and it went from amber (a half fall maiden),ozpin (a headmaster) ,roman and pyrrha dying.
Now volume 7-9 is something similar. Many players has died but the ones im focusing on is penny again (with the winter maidens powers), ironwood (a general and headmaster) so if this is going somewhere similar to volume 3 then it will be neo that will die trying to kill ruby and jaune that will die either to save ruby or help them escape from the ever after.

The one thing that makes me hesitant to think Ruby will "ascend" is that the bits we've heard about ascension in the Ever After don't seem to line up with the sort of introspective healing and character development that I think Ruby needs. The way we've seen ascension described, it seems to be more compulsory and with little agency for the being that is ascending and then returning. It could be that we simply learn something new about it that addresses that issue, though.
My money would be on Jaune, in large part because it would be a logical way to address the extra time he's spent in the Ever After. Ascension would make sense for him if it lets him "reset" to his original age, physically at least, and possibly with some of his memories from the Ever After removed as well.
When you mentioned the black Smith in this and how ruby or jaune could assend it made me have a thought about a previous video you made. When it shows alyxs blade rwby first sees it as penny's what if Lewis was remade as pietro and came out of the everafter much later than alyx. We've seen that semblances can be genetic and he now looks at the world in a different way which is why he is a great inventor.
I think it would be Neo if anyone.
1. Following the beats in the opening song, it looks like Ruby gets back to who she is as she is leading her team up the tree towards the end.
2. I don't think it's likely that the writers are going to kill off Jaune at this moment. Just seems a bit off.
3. The fact that we know nothing about what is going on in Vacuo makes me think the season will end with the team getting there right at the end of this season. I don't think the writers would stretch out Ever After into a second season.
Basically I think there will be a confrontation with Neo in episode 8, some set up with the tree in ep 9, and actually going through the tree in ep 10.
If we talking about who’s death would have the greatest impact, it would be Jaune. He has gone through so much struggles, especially self inflicted ones, that he may just sacrifice his life in order to save one life.

I had a thought about what the Cat said about Ascension. After Jaune said that when that happens, it takes your memories and makes you something else. Then the Cat said that that won't happen to them. What if he meant that they won't lose their memories and become something else? What if that they're simple remade into a brand new body with all their memories and skills? Like if Jaune is killed, he is reborn into his younger body with all his memories intact? Do you think that is what the Cat meant?

I think that Ruby will ascend and that she will ascend to the character that we saw in the reflection of the weapon in episode 5. When someone ascends, they ascend to the person that they wanted to be when they were still there. It gave me the idea that Ruby wants to be the “hero in the fairytales.” She wants to be like her mom. If she ascends, she will become someone similar to her mother. So perhaps her weapon will also change to be a weapon similar to her mother.

To be completely honest I think Jaune will be the one to die by sacrificing himself to save Ruby from Neo finally succeeding in doing what he has wanted to do since Pyrrah died which is to save someone after all he is by his own admission not all right and thus being able to do just that would allow him to die in peace, now whether or not he will be revived is another story all together.
I have a crazy idea that if V10 continues in the ever after. Ruby and Neo will end up exploring the rest together either willingly or Ruby held prisoner.
WBY and Jaune will do the same but searching for Ruby. By the end Neo will probably die or ascend while the heros escape and probably end up in Beacon because magic

Ok, this is a tangent, but the Under the Veil album by Ok Goodnight, even tho is 100% unrelated to RWBY, the lyrics seems to fit a lot of what we saw in this today's episode and what we'll see in the last two (My guess is as good as anyone's).
PS.: I only say this because the composers for Ok Goodnight are now composing for RWBY, and they did compose for volume 9 (And the vocalist has been singing every single opening of the show since volume 1 alongside her dad)

Oh god I just realized something sad that they could do with this. Ruby is so depressed and so held back by everything that the only way she could actually get over this trauma is to get ascended and reborn so that she doesn't remember ANYTHING from the previous books. That way, she's stuck with a clean slate and a restarted mind, but the rest of team RWBY know how to handle her and get her back on track.

I honestly think it would be the other way around, Ruby killing Neo (ascension) in some way involving a new ability/escape from the Ever After for Ruby, plus, the Ever After so far has seemed to confront and interact with people’s emotions, so I 100% believe that Neo and Ruby’s argument will conclude before everyone leaves the Ever After
The cat suggested that non-afterans can’t ascend though. Hopefully we get another scene with the blacksmith to clarify things.

Well, we know we get another scene "What if you could cast aside Ruby Rose, like an old coat? What may happen... if you don't?"
What if when about to kill Ruby or Ruby about to die Jaune’s semblance evolves to either be able to project (Vine did ask Jaune’s during training have you thought about projecting your aura out), use a form of telekinesis (to represent Pyrrha’s semblance) or he able to reverse damages that his friends take and give it back to the person who hurt/injury his friends in the first place?
If anyone’s not making it out of this volume alive, it’s Neo. She is completely obsessed with her revenge to the point that even in another world all she cares about is killing Ruby. If she doesn’t let go of that anger (and at this point I don’t see that happening) she is going to die. If anything, her new powers are a death flag. She becomes much stronger in the Ever After and probably goes a bit crazy with power, so the only way to stop her is to end her once and for all.
Additionally, unless ascending works differently for Remnant Folk than it does for Afterans, I don’t see anyone of RWBYJ ascending, since that would erase who they used to be and effectively replacing them, making everything they’ve done and been through for the last 9 volumes mean nothing. I think it’ll be used as a threat or temptation to make us worried that they *will* ascend, but unless new info comes to light about how it’ll affect them, I don’t see it happening

Just because they are in another world means nothing. RWBY are still thinking about Salem, too. What does that say about them? Especially since Neo's target - Ruby - is in the same world while Salem is not.
Roman was the only friend of hers. She only needs new friends on top of accepting that Ruby didn't kill Roman.

She has, at this point, played a major role in the fall of Beacon and the kingdom of Atlas, and shows absolutely no remorse for that fact. She just wants to kill Ruby, and doesn’t care who she hurts along the way. She can’t be trusted.

At the fall of Beacon, she marely protected Roman, that's all. And all Roman did was to steal dust and the attack on that underground city - and remember that this wasn't even fully by his choice, but enforced by Cinder.
At Atlas she did play a bigger role, yes. Still a support-role though. And she doesn't care who she hurts along the way? Who did she kill so far? She did try to kill Yang - to protect Roman. When she stole the relic from ONRJ, she could've tried to kill some of them. Never tried.
At the end of V8, only Cinder just attacked everyone. Neo only attacked the ally's of her target.

And both he and Neo are having the time of their lives throughout all this. Sure Cinder probably strong armed him into working for her, but she didn’t make him enjoy the things he did. That was all him, and the same is true for Neo.
And Neo didn’t just ‘play a support role’. She stole the Lamp, attacking Oscar in the process, aided in damaging Amity before Ruby’s full message could be sent out, gave the lamp to Cinder, who then used it to learn team RWBY’s plans to evacuate Mantle and Atlas, infiltrated Atlas HQ, and partook in the massacre of the control room personnel.
Neo is a psychopath who doesn’t care one bit about who gets hurt so long as she gets what she wants. It is *canon* that she and Roman both enjoy causing mayhem and inflicting pain for no other reason than they can. The only reason people like her is because she’s a ‘quirky’ attractive character.

If it's canon, then how about an example? Sorry, but fighting for her own team instead of her team's and her own enemy is nothing she can be blamed for.
She did attack Oscar, but never went for a kill - even though it would be easily possible for her, as long as Ozpin doesn't overtake.
As for the attack of Amity, she marely distracted the old lady (forgot the name) for a bit. Not even tried to go for a kill.

Neo definitely seems like the one who'd make the most sense to kill. Ruby, as our main character, would just be an odd choice unless the point is to have her ascend.
Jaune is in a similar boat as Ruby. He has all this juicy angst over Penny, and I don't think you'd get more value by killing him vs. keeping him around to go through this pain and grow from it. Same as Ruby, either keep him alive or kill him so he can ascend.
Weiss, Blake, and Yang just don't seem like good fits to die. I can't think of any benefit to the narrative by killing them off vs. If they survived.
Neo, however, has every reason to be killed. Her core and only motivation right now is to kill Ruby, so assuming she attempts that this volume in a dramatic scene, she'll have worn through her only reason for still existing. Regardless of if she succeeds or not, Neo will now just not have anything interesting left to explore, and her death would be the easiest way to remove her. Especially if they have Ruby do it in self-defense. This would be her first kill of another human and could be an interesting bonding moment if Yang and Blake try to comfort Ruby since they did the same to Adam.
If Neo were to survive, I don't think you'd gain much. She'd just continue to hate Ruby, and we already have Cinder for that, and due to her dynamic with Salem, she's arguably a more compelling character.

I hope Neo doesn't kill anyone. Or at least not consider killing Ruby anymore. Not if she can come at an impasse with Ruby after seeing her not worth it.
Well, we got the answer to THAT question
Neo is a fool.
Killing Ruby won't change anything. It won't make the pain go away nor would it bring Roman back. The only thing it'll accomplish is Neo becoming something far worse.
To quote Bruce Wayne from Batman Forever: "But the pain doesn't die with Ruby, it grows. Until one terrible morning, you wake and realize revenge has become your whole life."
The only way the pain can go away is for Neo to spare Ruby and give her a chance to hear her side of the story about Roman's death and accept it as just a cruel twist of fate.
This might even benefit Ruby because it'll teach her a lesson in humility and mercy.
Not everyone who worked for Salem and/or Cinder was evil from the start. If they can give Emerald a chance, they can give Neo a chance, right?
Lastly, I hope neither of them die. Especially Jaune. I'll damned if he abandons Ren and Nora. Death would only help him escape from dealing with the trauma not get rid of it. I hate to say it but "What would Pyrrha and Penny think of it?"

Or do you think that maybe they already have powered up semblances and just don't know how to use them past their original potential? Also do you think that if Neo went back to remnant that she would keep her upgrade? And if so why?
