Ordo Xenos are probably the people most likely to have non-violent interactions with Eldar. Most are pragmatic enough to understand that talking to them can sometimes make the problem go away without any added cost, and if it doesn't you can always kill them later.

So far Abelard is my favorite. He speaks and acts so authentically. Characters like him really sell the world around them and immerse us into it. I wish there were more characters like him in games.

If an imperial servant joins a Rogue Trader's entourage, it's safe to assume they're NOT gonna be the normal, run-of-the-mill type. They will have an at least somewhat different outlook on things as their brothers still in imperial service. Else they'd still be there.
For me what stands out the most from playing the Beta is every companion is very interesting in background , personality and writing. There isn't one character i didn't like and i found it hard to pick who was going to be in my party.

The sister of battle will definitely be a mod. Common misconception is they aren't allowed to have romantic companionship. This is a lie. Most of them are just to busy worshiping big E to have time for it.

This looks absolutely stunning… I can’t wait. I’ve never been super into Warhammer, but I’ve been into D&D since the 80s… Both OwlCat’s Pathfinder games were incredible and I think I have a combined 500 hours playing them… This one looks to be a great way for me to dig into some of the Warhammer lore and play another great Owlcat game.
Cant wait for this, it trully is a great time for Turn based rpgs. This looks amazing , I have huge expectations since Pathfinder Wotr was almost perfect game, one of the best ive ever played. And this one is purely Turn Based, which is a huge + from me. I hope they really bring up the tactical element now. Being able to play this in Co-op will just bring it to another level..
But, it looks so bad though. The combat is stilted and lacking, nothing like pathfinder. The little we've seen of the story has basically no hooks or any compelling features. And the companions might as well be cardboard cutouts fulfilling the basest roles of what warhammer characters should and could be. I would much prefer Owlcat to scrap this whole thing and instead focus on pathfinder. This is a waste of time and money.
yeah, the only grave issue with PoTR, imho, was part of the pathfinder 1.1 system it had to use - the hug pre buff, so tiresome I had to use a mod to automate. Other than that I loved it, so I feel this one will be a huge hit.

@@robinbugge4240 I was worried myself, but now that I played the Beta I can safely say that they have attained a good mix of tactical strategy and building and not super slow turns. But them again this is a very different approach from WOTR so I understand that it might not be for everybody tastes.

Based on my experience on the Beta, I can say this is the first time I experience a party where there is no companion I don't like. Usually, there is always one you don't like at all, and avoid. Here I enjoyed all of them, from what we got. As a loyalist player, the holy Sister Argenta, Heinrix and Abelard were especially great to be around. I loved debating creeds and beliefs with Pasqal, try to learn more about the Asuryani from Yrliet, listening to Ulfar's stories or learn more of Jae's backstory. A couple of things could be rewritten - I am sure you already know what I am referring to, considering what the community has been talking about - but you've created a great batch of original characters here.
I personally liked them all story wise except Jae and Yriliet. Jae just felt cliched and Yriliet is begging you to kill her by being a total asshole from the first time you meet her. Mon Keigh indeed. I can't wait to make a trophy out of her skull.

Owlcat creates very rich ui and general anesthetics of their games. I loved to spend time in their menus. So much character. I will always buy their games at full price. I wish them lots of success.

I really like the idea of choosing a side, strictly following the imperium dogma or use whatever you can to win the battle. WH40k games need more systems like this (inquisitor for example, great diablo like game btw.)
I'm so glad Owlcat got involved in this IP. 40k is my favorite setting and WotR is one of the best CRPGs I've ever played in 25 years of gaming so seeing them converge is really wonderful.
What they have kept utterly secret is…. it’s not an RPG at all, but the first WH40k dance simulator! Can you pull off the TechMarine Two-Step, or the Sororitas Shuffle?! Real veterans will try out the dangerous Chaos Can-Can (banned on over 30,000 worlds and most space stations)!
And I also love that they picked Rogue Trader as the theme of it. There's so much interesting lore in that RPG and it should give them a lot of freedom.
Weird that they would go with an XCOM-like, since it's not similar to what they've built before, so commercially less attractive. I do admire their gumption though. Russians have got balls the size of planets.

If it's based on the rogue trader ruleset (as I believe they've implied), then the core differences are decent base stats, and having higher melee damage and damage mitigation (Unnatural Toughness and Strength). Powerful, but certainly not overwhelmingly so.
Question then: what is the combat vs rogue trader aspect of the game? Is there a story? Do you set your own goals? Do you actually trade? If there are mission, are they randomly generated? Can you loose companions because of decisions outside of combat?
All of the other companions who you can't romance: *Shows Romance preference to be N/A* Eldar companion: *Shows Romance preference to be Unknown* Hey wait a min..
Why not have an entire crew of Blood Axe Orks? Sure, the Rogue Trader has to paint themself green and speak in Cockney every time they talk to them, but they have to only pay them in teef and dakka?
Kinda sad that only Aeldari available as xenos companions. It would be good to see more xenos allies. But, it's good to see magnificent Mechanicus in line.
Would be a delight to recruit other than fighters for your party, like other members of the ship doing things around for the ship doing different things like adding passives buffs or information about enemies, making the ship nicer etc.

I dont get why you'd make romantic preference such a big detail of the trailer if our options are "straight, token fanservice bisexual woman, and 'didn't write a romance path'" I'm not even sure romance options should really be in a 40k game but it feels really weird to go out of your way to boast that you have the same amount and type of representation as the original mass effect, a game that came out nearly 20 years ago. Still excited for the game, it's just a weird marketing decision.
I'd have like to see a few more aliens, maybe a Tau stealth suit scout, ork commando and maybe one of those there's armed genestealer cultists. Like if companion dlc happens I hope we get a few more xenos to add to the crew.

Not sure about genesteeler. Tyranidsa nd orcz won't happend. Make sense tho - It hard to imagine any rogue trader be able to stop even a fracture of the hive fleet.
I'm excited to dive into the WH40K universe and learn more about it and these characters! Just don't try to sneak any spyware into your games again, or the machine spirits will be very displeased indeed.
@@ajxx9987 In one of the Wrath of the Righteous updates they added something called AppFlyer to collect data for marketing research. People were rightfully pissed and Owlcat removed it in less than 24 hours along with any data gathered. And while it's good they listened to the feedback of their users, some people are still pretty leery about them pulling something like that again.
Don't forget preordering gets you instant access to the beta all the way up to the game's official release. I put about 30-35 hours into it so far and haven't even hit the third act. There was so much to do in Act 1 and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of what's to come in Act 2 so far.
The romance options are the biggest disappointment. Owlcat, I know you know what way too many of us in endless threads on all possible forums wanted. I will give it a very big plus, though, regarding Yrliet - that IS surprising that it went through Games Workshop with all it's implications for lore (oh, how some people will rage/cheer), I just hope it is written well.
To be honest, this is one cRPG where not having a pointless romance option would be very good. Too many RPGs are taking it as a must these days - everyone must have several options for you to bone. Why? Can't we have a story where connection between the characters is NOT sexual? No romance, just grimdark world and characters bonding over something else. I suppose they will probably have some, but this setting definitely does not need it and might be better and more mature for it. I like how they tackled romance in the Pathfinder. It took half a game to get anything resembling romance, it was tasteful, made sense, you didn't have endless choices (characters had personal preference to sex and moral alignment). Compared to Larian where I haven't even left the first map and practically every companion gathered wants to f my brains out like a horny teenager. Did I do anything? No. I actually didn't even take some of them with me questing, but still I am getting it. If they absolutely MUST add romance into WH40K storyline, then I hope they stick to their method tried and tested in the Pathfinder. Make it meaningful, make it adult and serious. Don't cheapen it and make it Ridiculous like Larian did.

I made Argenta into an absolute monster.. I gave her a heavy bolter, two items that increase fire rate by 1 each, a helmet that increased dmg% by 2*fire rate, a holy bolt casing trinket that makes all her single attacks always hit the target, and as a result she can fire up to 40 attacks in a single round combining full auto with her heroic skill. She usually ends every encounter in a single turn.
I think the success of BG3 has brought CRPGs to a wider audience, which might mean RT will have even more success than it would have otherwise. Good times!

Cool mix. Looks like a secret chaos companion as well. I think crpg's try to get too fancy with their companions to make them stand out and it seems forced. Luckily, WH40K is already pretty fancy to begin with, so they can stay lore accurate and still end up with a diverse group.

Based on my experience on the Beta, I can say this is the first time I experience a party where there is no companion I don't like. Usually, there is always one you don't like at all, and avoid. Here I enjoyed all of them, from what we got.
As a loyalist player, the holy Sister Argenta, Heinrix and Abelard were especially great to be around. I loved debating creeds and beliefs with Pasqal, try to learn more about the Asuryani from Yrliet, listening to Ulfar's stories or learn more of Jae's backstory.
A couple of things could be rewritten - I am sure you already know what I am referring to, considering what the community has been talking about - but you've created a great batch of original characters here.
I personally liked them all story wise except Jae and Yriliet. Jae just felt cliched and Yriliet is begging you to kill her by being a total asshole from the first time you meet her. Mon Keigh indeed. I can't wait to make a trophy out of her skull.
There is one - Idira - kill it with fire. The incompetence have it's limits too you know.

Owlcat creates very rich ui and general anesthetics of their games. I loved to spend time in their menus. So much character. I will always buy their games at full price. I wish them lots of success.

She have no romance. Between 3 female romance options at least 2 can be corrupted tho.

Pasqals quest in act 4 is a little sad no matter the outcome though
I really like the idea of choosing a side, strictly following the imperium dogma or use whatever you can to win the battle.
WH40k games need more systems like this (inquisitor for example, great diablo like game btw.)
I'm so glad Owlcat got involved in this IP. 40k is my favorite setting and WotR is one of the best CRPGs I've ever played in 25 years of gaming so seeing them converge is really wonderful.
What they have kept utterly secret is…. it’s not an RPG at all, but the first WH40k dance simulator! Can you pull off the TechMarine Two-Step, or the Sororitas Shuffle?! Real veterans will try out the dangerous Chaos Can-Can (banned on over 30,000 worlds and most space stations)!
And I also love that they picked Rogue Trader as the theme of it. There's so much interesting lore in that RPG and it should give them a lot of freedom.
Weird that they would go with an XCOM-like, since it's not similar to what they've built before, so commercially less attractive. I do admire their gumption though. Russians have got balls the size of planets.

True, but if you look at thing like tabletop, there’s a huge divide between lore power and gameplay power (how many “fearless” Imperial Guard regiments run like ninnies in gameplay?)
Space Marines are powerful yes, but psykers are terrifying. Abelard may possibly be the strongest companion sheerly because he's a psyker.
0:16 - Abelard Werserian - standard human so no way he can stand up to space marine
0:32 - Idira Tlass - depends how strong her powers are but theres no small chance she could kill the space marine
0:47 - Pasqal Haneumann - from just the looks (him not being full mechanical tentacle monster)he most likely won't win
1:02 - Cassia Orsellio - I dont exactly know how strong are navigator but I would bet theres no way she would win
1:17 - Heinrix Van Calox - this really depends, how talented is this inqusitor, how talented is the space marine, how much experience they both have etc. but the inqusitor a psyker so I wouldnt be suprised if he wins, in my opinion hes the most likely person to actually kill a space marine in straigh up combat
1:31 - Jae Heydari - standard human so no way she can win
1:44 - Argenta - most likely wont win but who knows miracle may happend (literally)
2:15 - Yrliet Lanaevyss - shes a sniper so...

He IS the most powerful companion, yes, but by the point you recruit him most of the others are also "as close as it gets".
If it's based on the rogue trader ruleset (as I believe they've implied), then the core differences are decent base stats, and having higher melee damage and damage mitigation (Unnatural Toughness and Strength). Powerful, but certainly not overwhelmingly so.
After 150+ hours in the beta can't be anymore excited. Fantastic immersion that captures the grimdarkness of 40K so well.
Question then: what is the combat vs rogue trader aspect of the game?
Is there a story? Do you set your own goals? Do you actually trade? If there are mission, are they randomly generated? Can you loose companions because of decisions outside of combat?

I'm not even sure romance options should really be in a 40k game but it feels really weird to go out of your way to boast that you have the same amount and type of representation as the original mass effect, a game that came out nearly 20 years ago.
Still excited for the game, it's just a weird marketing decision.

People were rightfully pissed and Owlcat removed it in less than 24 hours along with any data gathered. And while it's good they listened to the feedback of their users, some people are still pretty leery about them pulling something like that again.

Don't forget preordering gets you instant access to the beta all the way up to the game's official release. I put about 30-35 hours into it so far and haven't even hit the third act. There was so much to do in Act 1 and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of what's to come in Act 2 so far.

The romance options are the biggest disappointment. Owlcat, I know you know what way too many of us in endless threads on all possible forums wanted.
I will give it a very big plus, though, regarding Yrliet - that IS surprising that it went through Games Workshop with all it's implications for lore (oh, how some people will rage/cheer), I just hope it is written well.
To be honest, this is one cRPG where not having a pointless romance option would be very good. Too many RPGs are taking it as a must these days - everyone must have several options for you to bone. Why? Can't we have a story where connection between the characters is NOT sexual? No romance, just grimdark world and characters bonding over something else. I suppose they will probably have some, but this setting definitely does not need it and might be better and more mature for it.
I like how they tackled romance in the Pathfinder. It took half a game to get anything resembling romance, it was tasteful, made sense, you didn't have endless choices (characters had personal preference to sex and moral alignment). Compared to Larian where I haven't even left the first map and practically every companion gathered wants to f my brains out like a horny teenager.
Did I do anything? No. I actually didn't even take some of them with me questing, but still I am getting it.
If they absolutely MUST add romance into WH40K storyline, then I hope they stick to their method tried and tested in the Pathfinder. Make it meaningful, make it adult and serious. Don't cheapen it and make it Ridiculous like Larian did.

And if it is in, then they would like it to be "good". Let's be honest - people wanted, wants and still will want Argenta for obvious reasons and Owlcat did not do any favours to themselves by not agreeing.

I am sure there are some in Pathfinder: Kingmaker who wanted to bone Amiri, Ekundayo or Linzi, but I am very happy that the Owlcat did not give us that option.

I made Argenta into an absolute monster.. I gave her a heavy bolter, two items that increase fire rate by 1 each, a helmet that increased dmg% by 2*fire rate, a holy bolt casing trinket that makes all her single attacks always hit the target, and as a result she can fire up to 40 attacks in a single round combining full auto with her heroic skill. She usually ends every encounter in a single turn.
I think the success of BG3 has brought CRPGs to a wider audience, which might mean RT will have even more success than it would have otherwise. Good times!

Really looking forward to this game! But how I wish we would get a Kroot companion!!! They are such an ignored race in the 40k universe, and I think that's a real shame.

Cool mix. Looks like a secret chaos companion as well. I think crpg's try to get too fancy with their companions to make them stand out and it seems forced. Luckily, WH40K is already pretty fancy to begin with, so they can stay lore accurate and still end up with a diverse group.
