Kinda shocked the 5240, 5288, 986, & 86Hydro didn't bring a little higher price than they did there. Even surprised that 4010 didn't bring more. Funny how things at an auction you think won't bring much end up doing just the opposite & verse visa. Thanks for taking up along. Take care.

I always enjoy watching videos. I live in Alberta Canada where my dad and I raised pigs until the price dropped and we stopped. We have lots of farm auctions but instead of live auctions we do on line auctions where you can bid for a week. The equipment prices have been good. Keep up the great work!

@mce3673 : Yup, but just think of all the money you didn't waste on stuff you didn't need! 🤑
Hopefully you at least got paid time & a half overtime for your Saturday work. Lotsa folks get some pretty screwball work hours these days.
From a truly practical standpoint, attending an auction is only financially smart if you actually need to purchase something for your operation.
That said, I suppose if you have nothing better to do with your time, it's one avenue where many farmers get a little socialization with others.
The honest reality is that at most auctions, at the minimum, you'll waste your entire day away. Worse yet, you'll often leave with stuff you never intended on buying in the first place. 😁 Happens to the best of us!

As for the 88 series it was just a stepping stone as to what IH had coming. I actually remember seeing the Next Gen ( New Farmall) 90 series to replace the 88 series was a one door cab with door swing backwards and the 1st impressions was Not liked by IH dealers and my grandpa said that will never work. Auctioneers are trained to plant the seed. The dollar they start at is where they want to land with the sale. Based on the temperature of the audience, the auctioneer will adjust their dollar. Usually, they are fairly close with their assessment. Without all the knowledge on those tractors, they went for less than market value IMO.

Only problem is that I fear these sized/Hp machines are only going to keep going up in value.
Nobody wants the "new" electronic, plastic, & all emissioned-up junk that's sold nowadays.
The average Joe small farmer can't justify the obnoxious cost of new anyhow.
For what you were getting there, that F-756 was one nice, clean, complete, farm fresh diesel machine.
Heck, there was a lot of money just in all new sneakers on it alone.

Personally, I won't own a 6-cyl gas tractor again. Doesn't matter the manufacturer, the big gassers are all just terrible thirsty fuel pigs.

      @Mark Miller:
      Which one?
The CIH 5240 had a transmission noise, according to the auctioneer.
I can't believe it brought $22,500 with a questionable trans. With the cost of parts & labor rates nowadays... that's just crazy.
IH 5288's are always a gamble. The 88 series tractors are often more difficult tractors to sell, mostly due to their very costly transmission issues & other lesser common problems that they're known to have.
The 5288's sale price of $8,250 was only a good price, if it's actually field ready with no major issues... that's a pretty big "IF" though.
Aside from new injectors, pump, & turbo... little to nothing was really said about it. Thus, the buyer is rolling the dice on this one. For his sake, hope he got a chance to drive it at the pre-sale viewing.

Buy the John Deere. Parts and service matter. Didn't International go broke? John Deere is the Best.

I wouldn’t take a 88 series if it was free. 86 series and older is by far a much better tractor.

@@FarmallFanatic Ran a 50 and 52 at a farm I used to work at quite a few years ago. The paint was horrible, transmission, when they changed the direction of the air flow for the radiator made it harder to clean. 88 sat on dealer lots for a long time and a hard series to sell used.
