The very first tractor I bought as a young farmer was an IH 656 Hydro. As a kid, I always envied the neighbor when he brought his 656 hydro to our place to do custom baling and combining and I thought what a great tractor to own. Then I got one of my own. It was magnificent…except it wouldn’t always move as expected. So I sent it in for service. When I got it back, it worked for a short while and then it didn’t want to move properly again, so I sent I back again for service and this time they had it for months. I didn’t end up keeping it and I expect it was not well maintained from the start, but it was example of a great idea that was maybe a little ahead if it’s time. A few years later and hydros were in everything from combines to lawn mowers. Great idea, just not all the way perfected at that time.
And they used a lot of fuel . The 1026 was a holy fright. Neighbor came over and filled our silo using a 1026 and a 2 row Super 717. Nice unit but all I got done doing was hauling fuel out to it.

Lots of cool stuff up for sale ! That 80 combine would have been sweet to own . I would like to have a 656 because that was my grandpa's everyday tractor . He kept a 3 pt mounted pig hauler on it and that's something that you don't see anyone use anymore . Thanks for sharing and have a great day !

Seeing the tractors pulling the auction trucks, made me think of an incident Dad saw while at an auction in the late '80s/ early '90s. There was a decent amount of snow on the ground, and the guy driving the auction truck dropped the front end off into a manure pit that wasn't visible due to the snow.
Nice 656 H and nice 80 combine. My great uncle had an 80 combine and pulled it with a 300 Utility. I liked all the tractors. Too bad they didn't have had a good battery in the 560. That is not a sediment bowl, but a water trap. The International diesels that started on gas had those, too.
When we had it, we ran number 80 combine with a 584 it was a tad slow, then we went to a triple six 2nd gear torque was perfect then we went to a McCormick cx95. I was the only one left in the county pulling and 80 pull-type with an air-conditioned cab. It was plenty over it was plenty of her powered but it got you out of the dust. 3rd gear low range with that tractor. I still have the cx95 it usually gets hooked to grain wagons now and hauls away from my f2 gleaner
the IHC 80 combine is an 80" cut 2 row not quite wide enough to cut 3 30 inch rows and a 45hp tractor will handle it just fine. we farmed with a AC 72" with a 40hp AC D15
Tractor is 100% but it wouldn’t start. LOL. That first M sold must have had an easy life with the picker on it. I remember those IH 80 combines. Worked good.
MF 150 has the same engine in it as the 135 The 150 was meant to be the row crop version of the 135 but many came in standard clearance version like you see here. Be careful if you come across a 560 with a serial number ending in the letter X. If so then it's an on farm rear end exchange IH had to do. Early 560 came with the rear end of an M in it. Simply tore that rear end to pieces. Still a fun trip to take us along Thank you.
Good day FF U said 560 sat for a few yrs, I wonder if 560 & combine came from same place Boy combine brought a good dollar, every kid takes steering wheel & drives that 685 turns over like mine, battery is slow turning. Thought of getting gear reduction starter for it. 685 brought a good dollar, they are not green! It's too bad they can't have tractors running. People are wanting , don't want to pay arm & leg, but don't know how they sound. Now the 1st M had IH on front, not sure it was a "super" or a 52 model, Thanks

That was odd the 695 didn’t start. They usually start super fast. Sold my 495 with loader last year for 12.5k. If I were to buy another one I’d look for the shuttle model! Good auction.
That’s ‘cause farming is going away in our area. It’s sad. When I was kid, you couldn’t go 1/4 mile in any direction and you were at another dairy farm. Now there are only two left in all of New Sewickley Township. Harmony and many of the South Butler townships are about the same. Fewer and fewer farms every year. It’s sad to see them all going fallow. Young people want a promising career and farming doesn’t pay a steady paycheck. We’ll be sorry when our family farms are all gone.
@@tveduk8r You are right, and it's sad to see. In our area, there are fewer farmers because the ones who quit are not replaced and a few of the bigger farmers swoop in and lease the land. Smaller farmers like me are getting to be a scarce thing. It's even worse when the land is not used for farming, but gets sold off in lots for houses, etc. Like they say - "They cut down trees and name streets after them".
They’re hard to judge. They can be great for 30 minutes and then just die in the field. Most are great but by this time, there are a lot of them that are worn out. Hard to tell the good from the bad without a good workout in the field. I never trust them at a consignment auction.

Question I see the mandatory Auction Kid at 26:53 touching, steering, breaking, scratching something he is not buying, would it be rude if your bidding on an item to ask the parent of the Kid to stop messing with the tractor?
I think the auction itself should have a rule. Most of the time you see the parents supervising their kids, but occasionally you'll see where they aren't
I dont know anything about it but i think it's a utility. I just pulled it out of the woods a couple weeks ago and havent had time to do much with it. It does crank over but havent tried to run it. serial number is 3869 s - y ff
I do mechanic work and would use it to move trailers and pull vehichles in the garage and lifting with a boom pole. my tractors are more of a toy than a worker

Not sure which way your gps took you to Scott Ridge RD, the two options are off portersville exit to 19 south, 1) turn right on Pleasant Hill RD, or 2) turn right on West Lancaster Rd. If you went Pleasant Hill, then you really missed out. If you went West Lancaster RD, then right before the turn off of 19 on W Lancaster, on the left side of the road is Burgh’s salvage yard. 60 acres of parts tractors and implements. That’s who has those box bearings for your disc. They also have a bunch of Farmall Cub implements, but stay away from the Cub stuff. I already called dibs on it. 🤣 Did you see what the Kewanee flat fold disc sold for? Looked to be in decent shape.
Speaking of balers, that baler looked nice. Not familiar with ih balers, except for my dad's 45. Terrible thing. Scrap it before trying to run it. I hated that thing.

Not necessarily on farm. Could've been done at the dealer. I've been told the X just means it was updated after factory.
Why are auctions held on days when it's cold as hell, wet, or hot as hell? Just once a 65 degree, dry day would be nice!

Interesting auction. Harmony is not that awfully farm from where I'm located. Very few farm auctions in our area anymore.

All the hydrostat IH tractors you check the transmission oil level running at 1600 rpm for 5 minutes after warmed up

Hydrostatic transmission it means you don't have to shift gears. You just push the lever forward and you move forward pull it back and you move back

695 is just a 684 with an ugly hood. The 656 hydro was a good buy. A 966 hydro is on my bucket list.
