Long ago and far away. Looks like they commandeered all the horses from the ranch. A simpler, less jaded time. Thanks for the retro footage. Gives a real feel for what it was like then.
I started working for Disney that year on Main Street - This parade and the music will always stick with me.
I remember the hum of the electric vehicle engines throughout the parade.
Thank you for this. I was a part of this at Disney. Singer/dancer/assisted the choreographer etc. An amazing time at Disney.

That sounds like the same parade music as for Disneyland's 25th anniversary the previous year. They just simply replaced references to Disneyland ("Disneyland is your land") with Disney World ("Disney World is your world").
You did a great job on this video. It looks and sounds wonderful. I was glad to get to see it.

I marched in my High School Band in this parade (Fannin County High School Marching Band). We played the actual song, named Tencennial.

Yep, several bands throiughout the country (including my HS band from only 60 miles east, on the coast) got invited to participate throiughout the duration of the tencennial parades, a common practice at the time....not sure if they still run things that way or not, but obvously 2020 contained little to none such activity, All schools were sent the arrangment of "Tencennial", and it's a tune I've remembered all these years. I recall Disney having fairly strict rules about mascot logos, etc. The always control appearance "down to a T". Even being a Floridian, and being accustomed to the central FL heat, the day my band was there was brutal. I believe we had at least one student pass out. It was a great first peek at the inner workings of WDW, as I continued to perform there, but professionally, as a college student.....lotsa Christmas parades in the late 80s for ABC tv.

it amazes me that 9although not in this parade) everyone thinks the castle float should be retired, yet here we are with an even older float (the Gazebo) and nobody wants that to go.)
What song was in the beginning?
It's actually a tencennial theme used to replace the patriotic music in the Electrical Water Pageant from 1981-1982
