A few weeks back we presented some home movies filmed by David Coolidge (retrodisneyworld.com/retrodisneyworld/imageworks-film-restoration-blog/1973-magic-kingdom-super8-with-sound-mickey-mouse-review-and-more). David was impressed with our restoration work and as a result submitted an additional few films for us to restore.
David filmed the entire America on Parade in 1975 at the Magic Kingdom - sure other people have done this, but he did it at night and during the day. Between the two parades there are some good shots of the animated windows of the Emporium on Main Street USA.
My first time to WDW was July of 1975, probably right around when this was filmed. I was 10 years old, and that visit made me a life-long Disney lover.
The "bobble heads" are scary looking! Glad I didn't see this parade when I was there as a child.
The first time I went to Magic Kingdom this was what I saw. I was there in 1975. I was 4. They did not scare me but Mr. Toad's Wild Ride did.

Beautiful memories! I saw this parade at Disneyland in 1977 when I was 12 years old. Loved it then, love it now! (I'm 51!)
Fun Fact: The characters that looked like dolls were re-used and re-designed for Epcot’s opening years. However, people didn’t really enjoy them and they were replaced by Mickey and his crew afterwards. They were known as Epcot’s People of the World. Wow, I can't believe it's been 45 years since this was recorded. I was 5 in 1975. I'm taking my grandchildren to the Disney World Resort in July.

The 1962-1978 mickey looks different in this parade from WDW. Just Look At His Eyes. THERE WERE SIMILAR TO THE 1978-1980s COSTUMES

Amazing. I especially loved it at 4:30 fireworks with the voice of the boy and later on this beautiful song. Is that the national hymne of the USA? It sounded fantastic with the fireworks. Just WOW!!

Sadie Mae recordings were likely used during this parade. The organ itself now resides in American Treasure Tour.
Were any of those costume characters harnessed in? As a former costume character performer, that terrified me lol
It is a true shame Disney is no longer what it used to be.
I know My family went down to WDW in '76... and I remember this parade very well. But this says the date was '75. Were they still doing this in '76, I'm assuming they were. What year did they start the main street eletricial parade?
America on Parade ran from Summer of 1975 through 1976. MSEP first debuted at MK in June of 1977. DL had an earlier version of MSEP that ran from Summer of 1972 through to the debut of AoP. The MSEP we all know today did not come in to being until 1977.

America On Parade ran for Summer of 1975 until Labor Day of 1976 ....for the entire length of the Bicentennial celebration.... then the Main Street Electrical Parade debuted in WDW summer of 1977
The original MSEP, which ran from 1972 to 1974, had mostly flat 2 dimensional floats (much like Walt Disney World's Electrical Water Pageant), though a few floats such as the Blue Fairy, the Casey Jr. Train and Drum float, the circus calliope float, and Cinderella's Coach were 3 dimensional from the very beginning. MSEP was on hiatus in 1975 and 1976 to make way for America on Parade, then returned in 1977 with brand new, all 3 dimensional floats!
Where was the location for Bambi exhibit at?
They used to do animated displays in the windows of the Emporium on Main Street. I'm sure that's where the Bambi scenes were.
